Buy iPhone 6 (A1586) in Japan

Hi,
I will work for a while at Japan. If i'm buying an iPhone 6 (A1586) in Apple Store in Japan, i wonder if it will work in Europe and particular in Switzerland ?
What I have to mention to the seller at Apple Store ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards.

No it won't because all phones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and the Japanese carriers will not unlock phones, so you are stuck.
For the phone to work in Europe, you need to buy an unlocked phone and you cannot buy these in Japan.  What you will have to do is buy a new phone in Japan to use whilst you are living there and then sell that when you come home and buy a new phone.
Nothing else you can do.

I was planning to buy Iphone 4 32gb Japan locked here in Philippines.
    Question is:
    1. Can I still download apps from appstore?
    2. Can I sync my IP to my desktop(ITunes) so I can add pictures/vids/songs?
    3. What are the restrictions of a locked IP?
I just want to use it like ITouch.

You can also do all that with iPod touch.
You have been warned, so it's up to you to decide. Good luck.

  • Buying iPhone 5 in Japan

i would like to know if i buy iPhone 5 in Japan, can i use it in other countries ?

Yes, if the phone is unlocked then it will work with a local sim card, however you still have the problem of the LTE 4G possibly not being compatible with where you are using it, as there are differing frequencies around the world, so you will have purchased a 4G phone, then may then only work with 3G.
You also have the problem that if you buy the phone in Australia you have no valid warranty except in Australia and if you have any problems with the phone, you'll have to fly back to Australia to get it fixed.
My advice - yes the phone will work, but you will have other problems, so don't buy the phone in Australia, rather buy an unlocked iPhone 5 from a European country such as the UK, France etc. that sell fully and officially unlocked iPhones and then you will have a valid warranty, as in Europe the warranty is a European warranty rather than being country specific.
Do you have the money to fly to Autralia and back again if something goes wrong with the phone?

  • I'm wanting to buy an iphone here in japan but i want to know will it work when i get back to the us

No. There are no officially unlocked iPhones sold in Japan & there is no way to get any Japanese iPhone officially unlocked.
    Don't waste your money.

There is not a thing you can do except get the Apple ID and password of the previous owner...that iPhone is in Activation Lock mode and cannot be unlocked any other way.  The Activation Lock is an anti-theft protection that cannot be bypassed.  You very well may have a stolen iPhone so try contacting the who you bought it from and get your money back.

  • Can i buy an iphone 5s in Japan, and use it in the netherlands?

I life in the Netherlands and the Iphone 5s is very expensive here.
My dad is going to japan at the end of this year, but can you buy an iphone 5s in Japan, and use it in the netherlands?

  • Since it's impossible to buy an unlocked iphone 6 in Japan, is it possible to unlock it AFTEr purchase so it can be used in the US or other countries?

Since it's impossible to buy an unlocked iphone 6 in Japan, is it possible to unlock it AFTER purchase so it can be used in the US or other countries?

    How about a workaround?
I have a second VOIP line attached to my UK phone, it has a US phone number. Any calls to that number ring on my phone so I still receive calls from the US wherever I am, and they are local US calls (to US callers). I would suggest that you use a Japanese phone and a US 2nd number.
I use a service provider called TalkAtOne, (US based) and I am sure that others exist. Their rates are very low and the lines while a bit variable are average to good mostly.
It also runs nicely on an iPad, which I have discovered can become a handy desk speakerphone in a pinch.
Google also offer a free service (Google Voice) but it was absurdly complex to use.

  • Using my iphone purchased from japan in the united states

I am US Millitary stationed in japan and would like to know what i have to do to use my Iphone in the states?

Sell your iPhone in Japan and buy a new one when you get to the US.
All iPhones sold in Japan are locked to the selling carrier and none of
the carriers offer unlocking. You will not be able to use an iPhone purchased
in Japan when you get to the US.
    Thank you for your service.

  • Im from Philippines and my iphone is from Japan after I updated it to iOs 6.1.3 it wont activate it says ''Activation Error Please Contact Customer Care'' what does it mean? How can I activate it? Please help me.

You can NOT unlock it. Only the carrier it is locked to can legally authorize unlocking it and the Japanese carriers will not do so.
In order to be using it previously with a non Japanese carrier, the phone had to be hacked to illegally unlock it.  You can not get help here.
Buy a new phone you can use.

  • How if we buy iphone in us . does the warranty valid in another country?

how if we buy iphone in us. does the warranty valid in another country? and whats the different between t-mobile unlocked free and the only sim free version? can we still use it outside US?

Actually, Apple has now changed their warranty policy, & if you purchase an iPhone with AppleCare Plus, the warranty will be honored in every country that sells AppleCare Plus:
Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

  • Buying Iphone 4 from softbank

So am thinking about getting a iphone 4 from japan I will be staying here for a year so I need a phone. I know that some phones are like this: you buy it in a country (like japan) and its locked to that countrys phone carrier(softbank, but if you take the phone out of the country then you can use any sim card.
Is this true with japans iphones?
In short I want to use the iphone when I get back to sweden.
And for the record I think its lame that I cant call apple or send a mail to them asking this.
I hope someone have a answer for this becuse its the one thing that will make me buy a iphone.
No point in buying one if I cant use it in sweden exept if I jailbreak it and I dont want to go that low.
    Thanks for your help
    Kind regards

With an iPhone that is sold as carrier locked with a designated carrier, the iPhone remains carrier locked regardless which country you are in. This is the same with every cell phone that is sold as carrier locked.
It is up the the carrier the iPhone is sold as carrier locked with if they will unlock the iPhone after the contract period has expired or when requested by the subscriber. You need to contact Softbank and ask if they will unlock an iPhone sold as carrier locked with Softbank under any circumstances.
And for the record I think its lame that I cant call apple or send a mail to them asking this.
Apple doesn't provide support via email in any country, but they do provide telephone support. You can call an Apple store in Japan or visit an Apple store if there is one nearby, or you can call AppleCare. This particular question is for the carrier the iPhone is sold as carrier locked with, not Apple, which is the same with any cell phone and cell phone manufacturer. Why people think this should be any different with an iPhone and Apple is beyond me.

  • HT201328 My iPhone is from Japan and I want to activate it here in the Philippines because I'm living here. I have lost the original SIM from Softbank and replaced it with a new SIM card from Globe. How can I use the SIM card from Globe?

My iPhone is from Japan and I want to activate it here in the Philippines because I'm living here. I have lost the original SIM from Softbank and replaced it with a new SIM card from Globe. How can I use the SIM card from Globe?

You cannot. The iPhone is locked to Softbank, and only they can unlock it. Problem is that Softbank will NOT unlock the phone, as they do not offer iPhone unlocking.
Buy an iPhone in the Phillipines.
PS Before you go on a rant at Apple, be aware that Apple does NOT unlock phones and they do not set unlocking policies. The carriers (Softbank in this case) set the unlocking policy.

  • Unlocked iphone 6 in japan

I found out that apple store in japan is selling sim free iphone6  below url
    => http://store.apple.com/jp/buy-iphone/iphone6/5.5インチのディスプレイ-128gb-スペースグレイ-simフリー
I wonder is that unlocked iPhone ? (Carrier unlock, Country unlock)
I knew japan's carriers do not sell unlocked iPhone. (below url)
there are countries list of selling unlocked iPhone
    and there is not japan.

iPhone is available for purchase and activation through Apple, wireless carriers, and authorized resellers (not all options are available in all countries or locations). In most countries, the place of purchase will verify that you have an account with the carrier, and then give you instructions on how to activate your iPhone. Verification of carrier account is not required in countries in which unlocked iPhones are available for sale.
Apple Online Store sells unlocked iPhone in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium (French, Dutch),Brazil, Canada (English, French), China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong (English,Chinese), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (French, German), Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey,  United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.
Is it changed from iphone6? or same(I misunderstanding)?

On the Japanese Apple iPhone 6 buying page, there is a FAQ at the bottom with this question:
    http://store.apple.com/jp/buy-iphone/iphone6
The translation of this can be found on the same page for the UK page for instance (the US page is different):
    http://store.apple.com/uk/buy-iphone/iphone6
Can I use my iPhone outside my home country?
Yes. iPhone is enabled to work on networks using GSM around the world. Because the iPhone sold by the Apple Online Store is unlocked, you can purchase a SIM card and service from a local carrier at your destination. Or check with your home carrier regarding international roaming charges.
So, does this count as a reliable source?

  • Today i am going to buy iphone 4s . i have some questions.

i wanto to buy   IPhone 4S off contract from apple store , will they sell it to me?  is it a factory unlocked  iphone??  if i need any repairs in the future .what happens if i send it to repair , will they give me a AT&T phone ,   do i need to wait for the "factory" unlocked that is supossed to come in november ?  the last one ,
when there is an update for the iphone, i want to update it. but my iphone is factory unlocked . and i was wondering if it will still be factory unlocked if i updated it?
because i just heard .someone already bought a  free-contract iphone 4s at the apple store. you just need to CONNECT to itunes and then it said," congratulation your iphone has been unlocked"   is it true ?        can someone answer my question?
i am waiting for your question......................
    [ thank.]

That is impossible since every iPhone sold in the USA until the November release will have some sort of sim card in it. What differs is whether you purchase subsidized or not. Once the item is purchased without any subsidy it is automatically unlocked. I've unlocked two so far just by plugging them into iTunes: "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked".
The unlocked packaging will be exactly the same but will have different SKU numbers and will not come with a sim card and will have an ejector tool.
I just had some issues replacing my unlocked phone since it was malfunctioning. They replaced it with a locked unit & then came to the conclusion they are unable to unlock it. I had to return the phone and repurchase another for the unlock to work again. Come Novemeber they will have actual "unlocked" replacements.

  • My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts?

My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts? We want to be able to share my itunes library on both our phones and sync our calendars, but I don't want every update and reminder that my wife puts in her phone and I know she doesn't want every reminder I put in my phone.

What you need to do is both use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but separate Apple ID's for everything else. So, you keep your existing Apple ID. If not a verifiable email address, you will need to create a new Apple ID for yourself. You also create an Apple ID for your wife, again a verifiable email address. You use the existing Apple ID for all iTunes content. The new Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Here's how to create an Apple ID:
