Buy iPhone 6 in Thailand but use it in Australia

Now, I live in Thailand ,and I would like to buy iPhone 6. However, I am going to immigrate to Australia on January 2015, so I worry about the warranty covering.

A laptop, iPod and an iphone are similar in that they are all portable.
They are not. There are 4-5 different iPhone  models. For example there are 4 iPhone 5s models, while there is ONE 13 inch MacBook air which is sold worldwide.
It was reasonable for me to assume that iPhones came with an international warranty, and it certainly unreasonable for Apple to exclude iPhones from the same coverages as their laptops and ipods.
Ok, so?  Whatever you feel or think is right or reasonable it is not going to alter reality.
AS I bought the phone in Australia i am covered by Australian consumer laws and as I mentioned above, a phone is portable.
As I said, the reality is you will not be able to get warranty service in Vietnam. Sue the Vietnamese if you feel you have a case.
The article was merely posted to demonstrate the philosophy behind Australian consumer laws, in that Apple's policies do not overide the consumer laws in Australia. ie people expect a phone to last 2 years at least, people take phones overseas.
And it is still irrelevant. The EU has had the same extension for years and it still does not make the warranty international.
What is it to you anyway? Are you an Apple beancounter?
No, just someone who is being pragmatic and realistic, something that you seem unable to do. The OP asked a question and it was answered correctly, and then followed up.
And what is this to YOU? Are you an ambulance chaser?
Have a nice day.

ask the carrier what they unlocking rules are
if they don't sim unlock it
it will not work with sim cards from other carriers
so if it would work in uae it would be roaming and still be using cricket as carrier and you could be charged an arm and a leg for both data and talking

  • Can I buy iphone 4 in Hongkong and use it in USA

Can I buy iphone 4 in Hongkong and use it in USA...???
will it have some troubles when...like upgrade?

All iphones sold from official sources in Hong Kong are unlocked & will work on any GSM carriers network with the appropriate activated sim, including the USA. Note however, warranty & support are country specific & the phone would have to be returned to Hong Kong for any and all warranty & support issues. Make sure you purchase from an official source, non-official sources hack the phone to unlock it(their prices are often cheaper) and this will lead to nothing but problems.

Sorry, you can't. FaceTime has been permanently removed from your phone. There is no way to add it back.

  • Can i buy iphone 5 in USA and use it in Europe - Belgium

Can i buy iphone 5 in USA (NY) and use it in Europe - Belgium?

That's up to you. Honestly, unless you're saving hundreds of dollars...you are not...I don't really understand why you'd want to do this. By the time you pay import fees, I doubt you'll be saving much money at all. Not to mention, no warranty/support in Europe for this phone. Any issues, you'll have to physically return the phone to the US...you can't mail it back. Regarding LTE, that's one of the biggest features on an iPhone 5, & you won't have any LTE support in Europe...none.
Doesn't make much sense to me, but hey, its your money.
    Good luck.

  • Buy iphone 5 USA made n use in Malaysia

hye...i'm interested to buy an iphone 5 thru online shipping..according to US price...but i need to use it at my country Malaysia....is it possible to me to use the iphone from US made and use it in Malaysia?

If you want a US iPhone, you'll have to fly to the US to purchase it, as Apple does not ship out of the country & will only ship to a verified billing address located in the country whose online store you are trying to use.
Will it work? If officially unlocked...only sold by Apple in the US...yes. Be prepared to fly back to the US for all warranty/support issues, as your won't get any support for a US iPhone in Malaysia.

can i avail buying iphone 4s for $99 which i intend to use in the philippines?

If your sister breaches the contract, she will be subject to termination fees that would make it more expensive than purchasing an unlocked phone at full retail price that you could actually use.

  • Want to buy Apple TV in Thailand but unavailable

    Hi,
Looking to buy Apple TV thru I Studios in Thailand but is unavailable. No reasons given for unavailability or if it will be....the norm for Thailand!
Will Apple TV work in any location provided have internet access?
Option, maybe purchase from another country?
    Suggestions/ideas?
    Thanks

it should be able to provide the same media options as you get in itunes on a computer

can i buy iphone 4s frome uk (reading) and use it in egypt?

If you buy it unlocked and Egypt uses the same bands/frequencies.
Warranty is not international and iPhone would have to be returned
to EU if service or replacement was needed. Buy your iPhone in
    Egypt to avoid these problems.

  • Can I buy an iPad from America and use it in Australia?

Can I buy an American iPad with cellular (3g/4g) and use it in Australia using an Australian sim card?
    Thanks.

You have to buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple Store.
Note: There is no warranty outside of US. iPhone 5 unlocked is not available at the moment.

  • Buy an iPhone in the US but use it in another country

    Hi forum!
I want to get an iPhone 4 in my current country (México). The problem is, the price of the 32GB device here is of $12,000 pesos, which is equal to approximately $1,000 US dollars. As you can see, I'd much rather buy a MacBook at that price.
I was wandering if there is any possibility to but the iPhone in the US (I have US citizenship and a residence in San Diego, so I visit often) and use it here with the Mexican carrier Telcel (they have iPhone plans), without contracting AT&T.

As to what others have said, you are just better off buying one in Mexico. No iphone in U.S, whether it's a contract or not, it is 100% locked to AT&T. Neither Apple nor AT&T unlocks them officially.
If you really want to buy a factory unlocked iphone, you have an option to buy it from Canadian apple online (only online) store. However, you need a physical billing and shipping address in Canada to order and it will not be shipped outside of Canada. If you have friends or relative in Canada, then have them order one for you. Keep in mind that the warranty is valid only in Canada, if purchased in Canada.

I bought my iPhone in Australia and brought it with me to Japan and now use it on the docomo network.

How do I check what country iOS I have installed?
How do download and install the Japan iOS?
    Many thanks.

Yes. Sell that phone and use the proceeds to buy the correct phone for your country in India. So you want Apple to pay for a mistake YOU made? What gives you the sense of self entitlement?

  • Buying iphone from Apple store for use with various carriers

If I buy an iphone 4 from Apple store (not subsidized), can I use it with Virgin Mobile's no contract plan?  Or do I need to buy it from Virgin Mobile?
And If, after a month or two, I decide not to use Virgin Mobile, can I switch to another carrier using the same phone? or do I need to unlock it or whatever?
I guess what I am really getting down to is this:  I want to choose Virgin as carrier because there is no 2-year contract locked in, i.e. flexibility to switch, and I am willing to pay full price for the phone.  But if, for some reason I don't like Virgin's service, or they to raise their monthly fee so that it is no longer competitive to ATT, VZ, etc., I want to be able to switch to another carrier with the same phone, and not have to sell it on the 2nd hand market.
I know I can just purchase the iphone 4 that Virgin offers for 350.  But if it only works with Virgin and no other carrier, then what is the point of not having tied into a contract?  The phone is useless unless I use it with that carrier.
I have not asked Virgin this question yet, because what I really want to know is, if an iphone purchased in an Apple store can be used "universally" across all carriers.  I kind of understand there is a different standard that ATT use as opposed to all other carriers, but I am hoping to find the definitive answer about iphone compatibility for all carriers that offer the iphone.

    3)  I assume VZ and S use CDMA.  So, an unlocked VZ CDMA iphone user can switch to S and vice versa, and that's it?
You assume correctly that Verizon and Sprint are CDMA.  However, no CDMA carrier will activate a device sold for a network other than their own.  In the "CDMA world" there is no such thing as an unlocked device.
    Spiral Aim wrote:
    4)  ATT unlocked iphone users cannot use same phone with VZ, S, Virgin, or whoever else offering iphones at this time?
An unlocked GSM iPhone can be used on TMobile and any other GSM carrier in the US, there are quite a few regional GSM carriers and resellers (like StraightTalk).  Not all features are supported/work and it's up to those carriers to get them working.
    Spiral Aim wrote:

Now this is where it gets confusing, kindof.
The iPhone 4 is GSM or CDMA only.
The 4S and 5 are World phones meaning they have GSM and CDMA antenna's.  A CDMA 4S or 5 can be unlocked by the carrier (Sprint, Verizon, Virgin, etc) and activated on a GSM network.  Generally the carrier will only unlock for International carriers for the purpose of using GSM when the user is traveling and there is no partner CDMA carrier network for the user to roam on.

  • I had my own laptop with my own iTunes account on it. However the laptop is now broken. My partner has his laptop but his already got his own iTunes account. How can I sync my iPod and iPhone to this laptop but use my iTunes?

Can we both use the same iTunes but get all our music ect into one? Or can we share our separate accounts between devices? We both have iPod touch, iPhone 4 and an iPad each. At the moment I can't seem to get to my iTunes as it come up that it will delete everything in my phone/iPod but u have downloaded things to the devices directly and don't want to lose that?

    Hello Miss,
To set up a new Windows user account, if it is Windows 7, go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > Add or Remove User Accounts > Create New Account.
The old laptop is probably on Windows XP, so the menus may look a little different.
Once they each have their own Windows user account, they can each work with their own iTunes library, and all content will be independently managed.  That should avoid snarls and demerits in the coming year.
