Buy wireless "n" card?

hi all,
where can I buy a wireless "n" card for macbook?

Well, you don't need a card,it's just an Update. But yes,it won't make your Internet speed faster,it's only about range and your network.

  • Wireless PC Cards and Macs?

    Hi,
I recently purchased a Netgear DG834GT Wireless ADSL Router and Modem and with part of the package came a Netgear WG111T USB Adapter.
I successfully installed the modem/router to work wirelessly with my iMac G5 and airport extreme card, but am hoping to make use of the WG111T USB Adapter with my iBook G3 (running OSX 10.3).
Is this possible? I don't seem to be able to find the correct mac drivers anywhere for the WG111T. Am I wasting my time looking and should I buy an airport card for my iBook instead?
    Thanks,

It does not appear that there are any Mac OS drivers for that device.
In general, USB wireless adapters should be the absolute last choice for a Mac. If you are going to use one, you need one that includes Mac OS drivers for the version of the Mac OS that you are using.
Also, since the iBook G3's USB port is USB 1.1 it makes no sense to get a 802.11g USB wireless adapter. USB 1.1 is 12 Mbps And therefore you will never use the extra bandwidth provided by the 54 Mbps 802.11g adapter.

  • Powerbook 1400 do any wireless PC cards work with it?

Hi I have a Powerbook 1400 (most of you know that by now!) anyway I just got it more RAM (it now has a total of 48MB) and installed OS 9.1. Ive been seeing wireless PC Cards on eBay real cheap for only 10 bucks Buy it Now. Will these cards work with this powerbook? And is it true that the PB 1400 only supports 16bit PC cards?
    Thanks

    Apple Rules
Yes. It is true that the 1400s are 16-bit NuBus machines. Internally, they lack any means of 32-bit translation, and it cannot be added. Their only means of 'wireless' communication is through the IR port, and that is not easily adapted to your purpose. They are capable of ethernet 'wired' communication through an internal NIC, or a NIC PC card in a PCMCIA slot. And that is it.

I have an iMac G4 and need to connect it to the internet. Do I need to buy an airport card or can I just use a normal USB wifi stick?

Will this need to be a special mac compatible one or will they all be fine?
You need to see "works on Mac" on the box. All such deveices require a driver. The adaptor would work in many cases except for the lack of Mac drivers. Some companies have the proper Mac drivers on their web sites, some shuffle you off to suspect third-party sites, and some have no Mac drivers at all. If you want to buy one adaptor, not have to return it or send hours searcing the web for a driver that works, look at this one:

It is best for iMacs with USB 2.0 ports. If you have only USB 1.1 ports, you can save money with this one:

  • Next iPhone suggestion: Wireless credit card microchip

My suggestion is that if a new iPhone is released in 2009 or 2010, it should include a wireless credit card microchip that allows people to use their iPhone as a credit card, and it could support Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diner's Club etc. People would be able to purchase items without needing a credit card because they could use their iPhone instead.
It could work by the person entering their debit card/credit card number into the iPhone and it is saved into the microchip inside the iPhone, then when a person goes into a store to buy, for example, a television, they tell the shop owner they want to pay using their iPhone and the shop owner pushes the "iPhone payment" button on the credit card terminal and enters the cost of the television, then the person opens the "credit card payment software" on their iPhone(password protected for security purposes) and chooses to use Visa or Mastercard or another, then places their iPhone onto the credit card terminal's platform, and using radio waves the terminal platform reads the credit/debit card information from the iPhone, then the customer types in their PIN number using their cellphone's keypad, and the transaction is complete.
So this means people won't need to carry their credit/debit cards with them anymore, because all they would need is their iPhone.
Apple would need to work with credit/debit card providers like Visa, Mastercard, etc, to release a new credit card terminal that supports the iPhone.
It could work in all countries, not just the usa. And there could be no minimum age limit to use the service, so if a 5 year old wants to use it, they should be allowed.
*Hopefully someone from Apple reads this or someone passes my suggestion onto them.*

  • Wireless Network Card

When i bought my K8N NEO2 Plat. it came with the wireless network card bundled with it, ever since i have started using it i have had nothing but problems with it, it keeps dropping the connection every 10 mins or so and also does it when using or exiting a program which makes online gaming almost impossible, does anyone know what could be wrong.
BTW i am connecting to a another computer, i also have a laptop that uses another wireless access point and that never drops the connection

    I have the same problem.
What I have realized is that moveing the antenna just a little bit helps a lot on the signal strength. I had my antenna on of my cabinet with LOW to VERY LOW signal. Moved the antenna to the floor, got GOOD to VERY GOOD signal.
However I have to say that the Wireless card that is included with the NEO 2 is a 2nd hand solution. I have tried with other PCI based Wireless cards. No problem with either the driver or the singal strength. So the conclusion must be that if you can afford it, buy a new Wireless card.
Infact both the onbaord audio and the Wireless solution on the NEO 2 is really of rahter poor quality. In my opinion MSI should never have included em in the package.

  • Making Sprint Wireless PC Card (Merlin S620) Work

I just purchased a Merlin S620 wireless PC card from Sprint and would like to make it work on my G4 Powerbook. I heard that the Verizon card is better, but I have a good deal with Sprint and would like to stick with it if at all possible. i went to the EVDOinfo website and there are some directions there for making the card compatable with my Mac. I was just wondering if anyone has had any success with following these directions.
They say that these directions are only for "advanced" computer users and that you have to perform the commands in the "Terminal Application". I'm trying to avoid having to return the card I bought from Sprint and buying it again from EVDOinfo, just so that I can have the technical support and "easy version" of directions for novices, which would be possible if I bought the card from EVDOinfo. I'd like to know if anyone has had success in being able to get the card to work properly on their Macs just by following the "free" version of directions and downloading the drivers from their website.
I'm a little skeptical about the directions that are posted because there are many discrepancies that I noticed when looking over them. They jump around talking about different types of cards and networks in the directions for the Merlin S620. It just doesn't make sense. Any feedback whether I should continue to try to make this thing work using the free directions from EVDOinfo (or any other way) would be appreciated.

  • Best supported Wireless PCI card?

I am most likely buying myself a new Wireless G card (I only have a B now) and router. I was wondering what is the best supported Wireless card in Linux. The one I have now gives me massive headaches, and only works under certain conditions.

Might as well consider buying N 802.11N hardware, and may be easier to get feedback from some users about that. There are so many 802.11G cards and routers that it is difficult to say it will work.
What works great for some people doesn't work so well for others. My guess is that most cards work well, search the forums for people with problems with wireless and stay away from those cards, the others ... it's a leap of faith. Besides I guess you can return it if it doesn't work as expected.

  • Need Wireless lan card for L100-179

Hi guys can any one advise me where to buy a wireless lan card and any advise and installing one please

    Hello
In my opinion the first step is your local dealer where you have bought the unit. This unit is not known to me but I presume unit is WLAN ready and upgrade with mini PCI WLAN card is possible.
Other way to find out which WLAN card is compatible with your unit is to contact service partner in your country.

  • KT6 Ultra FISR wireless pci card problem

    Hello,
I hope that someone can help me. I have been trying to get my new Zonet 802.11g wireless PCI card installed on my KT6 Ultra FISR. I bought two of the cards and it installed happily on my MSI KT4 Ultra running XP. When I put the other card into the KT6 it starts the New hardware wizard on XP but cannot install the drivers from the CD supplied.
I thought that maybe it was the card so I swapped them over to see if this could be the issue, but it installed on the KT4 but still an issue on the KT6!?? :(
I then decided to buy a new Hard disk and do a new boot so installed XP pro fresh, and I still have the same problem! I think that it can only be a hardware issue with the board. Can't be a problem with the OS.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Peter

Have done that, couldnt get it to boot at all for some time ???, now it will boot but does not show my Soundblaster Live!
What can I do to change this? Why would it not boot at all with the PCI slots either empty or in a different order?
Would love to get the sound working with the wireless..........
Can I make changes to the IRQ in the bios?
No issues with the power as I unplugged all of the hard disks and PCI etc prior to rule that out.
Thank you all for your time
    Regards,
    Pete

  • Equium L10 doesn't recognise any wireless PCMCIA card that I install

    Hi,
I've just bought a brand new Toshiba Equium L10 and I can't get any wireless card to install. I have tried different models from Belkin, Netgear and MSI, all of which work perfectly fine on other laptops but not on this one.
The L10 is a clean Windows XP SP2 build straight from the retailer and I am carrying out the following steps to install the wireless network card:
    1. Start Windows XP SP2 and log on as admin
    2. Run software for the wireless card
    3. Insert wireless card
At this stage, windows only recognises the wireless card as an ethernet adaptor and won't install the drivers. Even if I install it manually and point it specifically to the correct directory, it still fails to pick up the drivers and says that there is nothing in the directory for the hardware that I am installing.
I have the latest BIOS for the L10 and have tried all of the following to no avail:
    1. Disable USB legacy support in BIOS
    2. Disable built in ethernet
    3. Run Toshiba PC Diagnostics (reports that everything is working just fine including PCMCIA)
    4. Rebuild laptop using supplied Toshiba DVD
Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be wrong? This is driving me crazy and I've never had this kind of issue with any other laptop. Is this a known fault with Toshiba laptops and what's the fix?
Is it a Win XP SP2 problem? Is my laptop faulty?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    K.

Can you post the details of this card?
Did you contact the PCMCIA card manufacture for support? Maybe there is a new driver release for this card.
I have noticed some problems with a Vodafone PCMICA card on a Satellite P10. This card has caused a blue screen on the unit. Well, the disabling of hyper threading technology in the BIOS has solved this issue. On another cards the new driver release has also solved some strange problems.
However, what I would say is there are many things which could have a bad influence.
Firstly I would recommend to ask the card manufacture for a support.
