Buying 1 song as a gift - Is it possible?

Hi,
In the UK should it be possible to buy only 1 song as a gift for someone? I don't seem to be able to do this. From the home page in iTunes I have also tried clicking on the ""Buy iTunes Gifts" link, but from there it never allows me to click on the "Give Specific Music" link. It always says there is an error.
I never have any trouble buying for myself. I can also see the "Gift" link attached to albums, but never single tracks. This makes me think that singles cannot be gifted...

I know this thread is "solved" but I have another problem that follows it. I managed to gift the tracks I wanted, but my Girlfriend (who they were for) lives in the States and cannot claim them because I bought them from the UK store. I assume this is due to some legalities. She is actualy coming to England on Monday so will she be able to download them while she is here?

Unable to buy songs on after gift card redemption

I just redeemed to gift cards so have credit on my account but now cannot "buy" any songs. I click the "buy" button and nothing happens, I can download free things like podcasts but not purchase anything. There is no error message.
I have trolled the internet looking for a solution and found someone else having the exact same problem but no solution as yet.
In the past I initially only just gift cards to purchase with no problem then recently used a credit card for the first time until then I had no credit card loaded against my account. And have now gone back to using a couple of gift cards.
I have updated iTunes with latest updates which didn't help.
Any help much appreciated as I was hoping to download music for new years eve!!

I find it very misleading that the iTunes gift cards sold in Canada do not clearly state on the packaging that they cannot be used for game and app purchases. This is only listed on the terms and conditions on the website. Sorry, but I didn't think to carry the website with me to the store when I purchased the gift cards for my family members iTouches. Perhaps iTunes should not mislead the customer by stating "use your iTunes cards for music and more. . . . " Very very very disappointed.

If you've forgotten your answers to your security questions then you can get them reset : If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
If you have a credit card on your account then its details have to complete - and asking for their details is also a way of checking that you have a valid billing address in that country. As long as you are buying content for yourself and not trying to gift content (you can't use your balance for gifting) then the purchase price (plus any applicable taxes) should be deducted from your balance. I'd like to purchase a specific song as a gift for someone.
Is there any way to do this where it's made available to down load from their own account?
Or is my only option a gift certificate?

Gift certificate is your only option at this time. There is no way to transfer the ownership or a song or buy a song and have it show up in someone else's account.

OS X is the same no matter where you buy it. You can switch it to Japanese or one of 30 other languages in few seconds via the system preferences.

I have the same problem, but discovered I can 'gift' itunes. I can't update my itunes version because my operating system doesn't support it and I can't update my operating system because my laptop is too old. 2008. have rebooted, retried, done all I can think of... still not working. The "disk" is your startup volume, which is usually called "Macintosh HD" (unless you changed it). Your iTunes media files (such as song files), and basically everything else, are stored on that volume (unless you changed it).
You should create some free space as soon as possible, because the system (OS) and applications use free space to write temporary files as part of normal operations. If there is very little free space available, your system may start to bog down and feel slow because it's not running efficiently.
You can empty whatever is currently in the Trash by doing a click-hold (or right-click) on the "waste basket" icon in the Dock, and selecting Empty Trash. A good place to look for files you may no longer need is your Downloads folder. There is usually a link to your Downloads folder in the sidebar of a Finder window. (The folder itself is located in your user home folder.)
You can see how much free space you currently have by selecting Macintosh HD on your Desktop (or in the sidebar of a Finder window), and selecting Get Info from the File menu. You can also right-click on it and select Get Info from the menu that comes up (or hit Cmd-I on keyboard). The Info window shows Capacity and Available for the volume. Available is the free space. It would be best to keep Available at least 10% of Capacity; getting it to 20% or more would be better.
If you can't free up enough free space by deleting things you do not need anymore, you should get an external hard drive and save some your files there. That's actually how I run my iMac; most of my user files are stored on external USB and FireWire drives.

I can't buy songs because error 11503 occurred

I tried to buy songs and whenever I tried, the error message popped up, saying "error 11503 occurred and try later".
So I tried to go into my iTunes account and send a message or something, but I can't do that either. It says "503 service unnavilable".
Aaarrrhh, what is wrong with iTunes?

Here's a possible fix for Error 11503 and for error 50.
It worked for me and hopefully it will work for you.
I believe this error is caused by the incomplete downloading of either an update to an app, or perhaps a big music file. In my case it was caused by closing the lid on my laptop when I was downloading app updates on a very slow internet connection in a hotel.
Anyway, here is what I did that fixed it completely.
Close iTunes.
Go to this folder : /iTunes/Mobile Applications/Downloads
You'll find tmp files there. Drag them out of this folder to a temporary folder on your desktop. The Downloads folder should now be empty.
Restart iTunes.
All should be fine.
If it's not, then I can't help further, but that's what worked for me.

-9808 error when buying songs

I consistently get -9808 error when trying to buy songs from itunes-WHY?

If I'm remembering correctly, iTunes error -9808 is an error stating that iTunes can not connect to the Store server. Check any firewalls, privacy filters, antispyware, etc. and make sure that they're set to allow iTunes to connect. If this has started happening since upgrading iTunes or a security utility, try removing the exception for iTunes and then re-adding it. And another possiblity:
Go to Internet explorer ->Tools -> Internet options ->Advanced tab
Look for the security section and make sure that SSL 3.0 is and TLS 1.0 are checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
