I am very displeased with my cell phone, but I do not have an upgrade till next summer. I was looking into buy a phone off of Amazon and having Verizon activate it for my number. I have never done this before and I do not know how to begin. What do I look for?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You can ONLY use the itunes store of your country of residence AND ONLY while physically located inside the borders of that country.
In order to buy from the U.K., you would have to have a British credit card, billed to a British address AND you would have to physically be located inside the U.K.

If you are buying the phone at full price (or Verizon EDGE), there won't be any upgrade fee. If you are getting a subsidized phone (2-year contract) there will be an upgrade fee.

This question is two fold.
First, my line is not the line with the upgrade. I am transferring it from another line to mine. I have read that my line's upgrade, which will be up in Feb. will now be the upgrade date for the other line. Is this true?
Second, I am buying a phone from walmart, the Droid x2. I went through all of the steps, saying that I'm buying the phone as an upgrade. Before I actually buy it, I would like to know what the activation process is. Do I just order it, it's delivered, and I call the activation number? Or do I need to do something further. I find it hard to believe that it's that simple.

I don't think you can do this online with Walmart(or any other online vendor). It does not change your upgrade date, the other line gets a new 2 year contract not yours. This is refered to as an alternate upgrade, the only other vendor I've found that has done this for me is in store at Target.

There are no officially unlocked iPhone 5's available, in the US, at the present time. No announcement, as to availability has been made. The only unlocked iPhone, available now, is the iPhone 4 or 4S. Either of these versions will work, but will have no warranty or support in India. They can only be purchased directly from Apple, no where else.

From individual to family plan (one phone from Amazon wireless, the other an Iphone)

My fiance and I are currently on separate family plans with our respective parents. We are about to start our own plan together, but her family's contract ends a few months after mine.
I want to get the HTC incredible 2 from Amazon wireless. I would have to start an individual plan because she's not ready to switch over.
She wants to get an Iphone, which you can't get through Amazon wireless. We'd have to go to Verizon, best buy, etc.
Can we easily go from having me on an individual plan to a family plan? And would she still get the rebate for the Iphone (making it only $200)?

Do you want to keep your current phone numbers? If so, you will need to do an Assumption of Liability for each line to transfer them from their current account into your name. It's a simple process, and free, you just call or visit a Verizon store with the current account owner and do the paperwork. Verizon will do a credit check, and you may have to pay a deposit.
If you do an AoL, your contract end date stays the same, and you keep your current number. You could do an AoL now, upgrade your phone when it is eligible, and then move your wife's phone over whenever you're ready (with another AoL). You don't have to wait for the contract to end. Doing an AoL and starting a Family Share plan with the transferred line is also easy, they can probably take care of it for you at the same time.
Each line on your plan will have its own contract, so if you want to upgrade at different times and/or at different places, you can do that.

Yes. You can call Verizon and have them mail you a compatible SIM card or go to one of the stores to pick it up.
You will want to make sure the device you get has a clean ESN before you purchase it and has not been reported lost or stolen. If you have the device id CS can help you tell if it's clean. Or you can use the link below to check.

If you bought the new phone from an authorized dealer you should be able to turn it on and see the setup assistant that guides you through the process of setup and activation. What happens when you turn the phone on?
Or did you buy a used phone from someone? What exactly do you see on the phone when you turn it on? What messages are displayed?

Buying a phone on Amazon?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has ever bought a phone on Amazon? I'm trying to get a Galaxy S3 using my mom's upgrade, and in order to order from Amazon I have to give them my mom's number to prove that's the upgrade I'm using.
Will that mean that the phone that gets shipped will have my mom's number/deactivate my mom's phone? My upgrade is next month and they probably won't be having the same sales so I'd like to get it now. Is this as simple as replacing the SD card with the one in my current droid, or will this be sent to me as the replacement for my mom's?

It only means your mom's line will have a new two-year contract. When the S3 arrives, you can activate it on your line. And she can do the same next month using your upgrade. Do you have a 4G device now? If not, you will need to get a SIM card (not the same as SD card).
Be sure to read the contract terms carefully when upgrading through a third party and not directly through Verizon.

Non-contract phone from Amazon, 3G to 4G

Hello All,
Currently have unlimited data on a G3 Droid X2, going to buy a full priced 4G GS4 when it comes out through Amazon. From what I understand, there wont be any issues keeping my unlimited data even through I'm going from 3G to 4G, correct? And once my phone comes in the mail, I just take it to Verizon and have them activate it and make sure they dont change my contract at all, correct? What is this sim card business? Dont currently have one in my DX2.
Does anyone know if the 4g verizon phones work on any other networks that currently offer unlimited data?

That's awesome that you are getting the Galaxy S4. It is an amazing device and I know that you'll just love it. If you currently have the unlimited data plan and you purchase a device at full retail, you'll be able to to keep the unlimited data plan.
The sim card is required to activate all 4G LTE devices. 3G phones, such as your Droid X, did not run on sim cards. If your GS4 does not come with a sim card then you can go into a corporate store and pick one up at no cost or we can send one out to you.

Buying adobe products from amazon (ix)

I'm in the market for Adobe Creative Suite design standard cs5.5 and having been doing some research on where to buy and the best price for a legitimate copy of the software. I looked on the list of authorised sellers on the Adobe website and noticed that Amazon was among them. When I went on to Amazon to look at their selection of software I noticed that creative suite standard is selling for £989.99, but on further research found that this is via a different seller registered with Amazon called Ix.

I thought the price was very reasonable but have heard so much about pirate software in the industry that I'm concerned the seller is not trading legitimate software as the price is a lot lower than I'm used to seeing. Would Amazon allow a seller to trade software that is pirated? or is this just a very good price for what I'm looking for?

At that price (£200 below the RRP) it could be that the software is a US import. I can’t see how else they could get that low price. This may not be a problem with regards to registering and activating, but be aware that if it is a US license any future upgrades will also need to be a US version; I don’t think you can use a UK upgrade on a US license.
I remember looking into this when I was buying CS4 a year ago. The use of a US license in the UK seemed to be a grey area. There were many accounts of people who bought US licenses (either directly or indirectly through a reseller), got a good deal and had no problems. Because I was buying CS4 at a time when I could get a free upgrade to CS5 I wanted to do everything by the book and ended up buying from a reseller on Adobe’s reseller list, but the price wasn’t that great compared to some of the deals available.
At the time there were some good deals available from the amazon.co.uk Marketplace sellers, but, like now, the number of feedback comments was never higher than the low hundreds, suggesting the seller (under that name at least) hadn’t been around for very long. It was also hard to find out basic information about the seller, such as an address or contact details, which rang alarm bells. It’s maybe worth sending an email to the seller to test the waters.
Also be aware that whilst amazon.co.uk may be on the Adobe reseller list it doesn’t necessary follow that the Marketplace sellers also fall under that umbrella (from Adobe’s point of view).
I’m not an authority on any of this, and may be overly paranoid. Perhaps someone with more concrete knowledge about licensing and imports can give better advice.

Don't do it... That verizon Edge will literally bring you over the edge should you try to leave, be sure to read the complete contract which they don't advertise correctly...
Verizon Wireless is basically a criminal who misleads their customers. My contract was almost up. I sign up for the Edge program, and the way it was explained to me, was "oh this way you can upgrade when you want (really once a year) and you aren't in a contract". Well that was a lie. I decide to go elsewhere so I call and ask what I need to do. They say "well, you are in a contract", (ok that wasn't told to me but fine) I ask what my termination fee is, they say "To get out of your edge program, you have to pay the $500 remaining fee for your phone ( Galaxy S5 which I was paying monthly, $25) and a termination fee for your service of $150."
HOLD up, so basically you are telling me that you guys came up with a way to charge two **** termination fees????? If I decided to take my phone with me, I could almost understand that, but If I give the phone back, why would I be paying for something that is no longer in my possession??? They say" That is how the Edge program works" WHAT COMPANY RUNS GAME LIKE THAT ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE THAT PHONE AND RESELL IT??? I worked for a telecommunication company for 10 years and never heard of anything like this in my life...***?!?!?!?!?!?
