Buying a photo book

I am in Brazil and Iphoto book printing is not available here. However, my aunt lives in Connecticut and I wanted to print and ship book to her address. Is that possible? I dont seem to be able to connect when i try to place my order. What can I do? And if creating an account to be shipped to my aunt's address is not available, how can i save the book in a layout that i can take it to be printed somewhere else?

I do not believe Apple currently has Photo Services in South America: http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/ww/
To find out for sure, you could click on the USA section and then following the links to send an email to the Photo Services department to ask them if they have the ability to place orders in and ship to South America.
You can save your Book / Card / Calendar etc. as a PDF and take it to a printer as well: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040

IPhoto and Buying a Photo Book

When I try to buy a photo book that I have created my Apple Id information (billing address and shipping address) are wrong. The country defaults to Finland and I live in Greece (Greece is not even a country in the Pick list ?!?!?!?!?!?!) Via Apple's website I have made sure that my Apple Id's address info is correct, but how can I use iPhoto to buy the book I have created and have it shipped to me?

You can't. Apple's Photo Services are not currently available in Greece, I'm afraid.

IPhoto 7.1.5 on 10.6.8 Trying to Buy a Photo book

I have been reading other discussion threads and I can't find exactly my question. I have iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5 on Mac OS X version 10.6.8. Everything was fine until I got the iPhone 5 and needed to update iTunes. I found I needed to update to at least Snow Leopard, so I did that and figured everything was fine now. That was until I made a photo book and tried to purchase it. Unfortunately, I got the following error message: We apologize for the inconvenience, but the ability to order books, cards, calendars and prints is no longer supported in iPhoto 7. Please upgrade to a newer version of iPhoto to order these products.
So, I have read a few posts that say I need to buy iLife, but I would never use any of the apps except iPhoto, so I would like to save myself the money of buying things I won't need. I also did a search and it looks like I can download a bunch of updates here: http://support.apple.com/downloads#iphoto
My question is, can I go update by update on this site without ruining my current iphoto events and projects? I have about 15,00 items in 243 events and I would hate for them all to get ruined.

It isn't possible to get a version of iPhoto which is new enough just through the downloadable updaters. You need to either buy an iLife DVD or upgrade the computer to Mavericks and get the Mac App Store version.

Buy a photo book made with iPhoto 08?

I've made a photo book on an iMac running 10.8.5 with iPhoto 08 (7.1.5). When I pressed "buy", it said it was not possible with this version. I can't upgrade the machine or software (it's not my machine). Is there a work-around? Is there a way of exporting the finished project so that I can import it and buy it on a more up-to-date machine? Thanks.

You can purchase your book from other sources - google is your friend - one source to look at is PrestoPrint
You can upgrade to iPhoto '11 by purchasing an iLife '11 DVD from Amazon or eBay and installing iPhoto '11 and upgrading to the latest version or system supports
You can make a copy of your entire iPhoto library (there is no way to export a book except as a DF which can not be used to order from Apple and can not be edited) and open it on a Mac with iphoto '-9 or '11 and order -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it. - check the preview carefully as i is possible that some things change when you change versions

I want to buy my photo book, but it says I have a corrupt jpeg. How do I find this jpeg photo to delete?

How do I find a photo Jpeg #? The photo book I want to buy will not allow me to buy it because there is a corrrupt photo with a jpeg # of 000_0068.JPG. How do I find this photo, I can't see jpeg #'s anywhere.

Look for a page with this formatting:
That page would require two photos to be added to it: one for the background and one above it. That layout shouldn't be offered on a 1 photo - full page.

created my photo book in iphoto, click buy book, asks me to create an account by entering my .mac info, which i do. when i click create, the blue candystrips come up for a coupla seconds....and then it sez there is a problem with my network connection. what does that mean? it sez to check it...is that my internet connection to the network??

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Not in the pool. Send it to me, postage collect .:( There were some server issues a few days ago requiring users to log into their .Mac account (click the .Mac tab at the top of this page and then click on My Account in the next window) and reenter their account information and save. Several users reported it took several attempts before it took.
It's not the computer, it's the server. But if you're still wanting to get rid of it.....

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Re error 8 message/corrupt photo when trying to buy a photo book

I am trying to upload a photo book, which I have done many times before, and this message comes up: "com.apple.chameleon.component
General.error 8." The book stops uploading at page 4 and sites a corrupt photo. How do I find out which photo is causing the problem? The same thing happens when I try to preview the book. Help!

Remove the photos on page 3 and preview - if it works re place the photos on p 3 oneone and preview until you find the problem photo - if the problem is not on p 3 then do the same on p4 and p5 is necessary

There is nothing wrong at all with our internet connection, and I have been through all the suggestions on the Apple help page, and spent 2 hours on the phone this morning getting passed round various call centres. They claimed they had not heard of this problem before. I successfully purchased a calendar in Dec with no problems at all - so I just don't understand!

I have created the book. But when I press the buy button, I get 'error contacting Apple Store'

Don't get up your hopes, Old Toad . I never tried to buy a photo book from the iPad.

It only mentions, that you can change the font size:
Edit text on a page
Tap Projects, and tap the photo book to open it.
Double-tap the page containing the text you want to work with.
Do the following:
Align the text: Tap the text box, and choose an alignment style from the menu that appears directly above the text box.
Choose the font size: Tap the text box, and tap the font size you want.
Make changes to the text: Double-tap the text box, and type.
No mention of the supported font. Probably the fonts will depend on the country of the Print Products Store you are using:
To change countries, tap at the top-left corner of the screen, and select another country from the list.

Problem to print a photo book

Hi everybody,
from several months I am tring to buy a photo book made with IPhoto 5.0.4.
Everytime there is an error uploading a file. Even if click retry. I have check the network connection, no problem. I would like very much buy this book. I live in Italy, there isn't a support.
Somebody can help me?
Do you know an alternative way to buy?
For example sending a CD or with a printable pdf?

I have the same problem. Similarly to another entry here, be very careful about how many times you reattempt it. I did it several times, hoping it would work out a kink, and it was on an expensive order, now there are over $2000 of "temporary authorizations" depleting my available credit on my card, and it's been that way for almost a week now.
I am living overseas, and am unfortunately restricted to dial-up internet to upload this, and it either gets stuck at 64kb/8Mb or just jumps right to 8/8Mb, when there is nothing wrong with the my internet connection.
I emailed Apple in response to the order cancellation email, and stated that perhaps it was the army firewall I'm behind, asking for the site the program connects to in an attempt to unblock the site if it's inadvertently getting blocked on my end. When they replied they said it's a technical issue and that I can call Apple to talk with someone, where they will determine how much the call will cost. That's outrageous to have something brand new, and have to pay for them to help you on an issue that truly may be as simple as giving out a website.
In response to an earlier reply, I am using iPhoto 5.0.4, and I just purchased my G5 back in October. Is there a later version to iLife that I'm not finding?
If anyone finds help with this issue, I would greatly appreciate some tips!

Trouble buying a Iphoto book that I created

What does this mean when I try to buy my photo book, I get a dialogue box that says
"Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book."
However, I checked all of my pages and frames and they all have photos as required.

I took your detailed advice. I check every full page photo, noting the backgrounds on those pages. If there was a grey background, I changed it to a colored background. And if I found a full page photo on top of a full page photo background, I changed those backgrounds to colored ones.
Still get the error message from Apple when I try to buy my book. Help!!! Very frustrating
