Buying a pre-owned copy of CS6 EDU - legal?

Hi,
I have been searching for a CS6 education version for quite some time and finally found an offer for a pre-owned copy (original with case etc.) by a student who wrote he had contacted Adobe in this matter and they had confirmed selling his copy is legal as long as the new buyer is entitled to use the academic version as well.
This applies to me, and I would have no problems supplying the required evidence for Adobe to transfer the license, but I also know of the restrictions in the TOS as regards EDU versions. As my contact with Adobe phone support was not exactly satisfying ("no phone support for this product..."), I would appreciate it if someone knowledgeable, preferably directly from Adobe, could clear up the matter.
Thanks in advance!

  • Buy a pre-owned Cinema 30" or new HP 30" with warranty?

I love my Cinema 30" display. At work, I can't get approval to buy large monitor, so am considering buying myself. I'm looking at the many 30" Cinemas for sale on Ebay. Does anyone have advice about lifespan of Cinema? Would it be better to buy a new HP 30" with warranty? (always buy Apple). The Thunderbolt is very hot looking, but I'm a Photoshop/Graphic Designer, and the subtlety of the Cinema LCD is better, I think. Any advice? Thanks

If you are a graphics designer then IMO I would buy new.  The 30", while a nice monitor, is a CCFL backlit display.  Over time those backlights grow dimmer.  Buying one on ebay you don't know how "new" ("old") the backlights are.  You may end up with a display dimmer than you need or want.
Also displays can be "finicky" at times.  Best to have a warrantee if you can.
    Just my opinions.

  • I already own Student Edition CS6 Photoshop Extended and Want to Buy the Design Standard Student

I already own the Student/Teacher Edition CS6 Photoshop Extended and want to buy the Design Standard Student/Teacher edition in order to add In-Design and Illustrator to my Mac. My concern is that, since Photoshop is included in the Design Standard collection, will my pre-existng copy of Photoshop keep me from getting a serial number/license on the other two products since I know you can only puchase one product per student? I was just hoping someone could clarify this for me before I spent money on something that I may not can use. I really want In-Design and Illustrator and this is my cheapest route as a student.

    Hi findezel1,
There will not be any issues, while you are installing the Adobe CS6 Design Standard, you would not have an option to install Adobe Photoshop CS6 as its already installed.
Alternatively, You may de activate and uninstall the Adobe Photoshop CS6(curently installed) and keep it as a back up and use the Photoshop which is a part of Adobe CS6 Design Standard.

  • Buying a copy of CS6 Master Collection from someone

    Hello,
I found an ad on craigslist for a person selling a copy of CS6 Master Collection. I was going to meet with them but then saw you can only download to 2 computers and cannot use simultaneously. When I expressed that concern to the seller he claimed he has the pro edition and that it is not the case. He claims he gets 3 downloads and that I would be the last download and it would register directly to me. Is that the case? I read online that you would have to do a license transfer if you buy used from someone. I am very scared to get ripped off, I am a student and do not have a bunch of extra money to spend but need this software for my schooling. What should I do?

If it smells fishy... it's fishy.. and this smells more than fishy.  A single user license allows for only two activated installations.  The software is registered to one person, the owner.  If the plan for the seller is to retain the software and use of it while pretending to sell you a portion of that license.... walk away and don't look back.
If you sell a license there is a formal transfer that must take place.

  • Will installing CS6 over cloud over write my CS5 owned copy?

I have a personal, owned, copy of CS5 but through work could have a cloud version of CS6. Will installing CS6 over write my copy of CS5?
If not, why am I prompted to close Photoshop before I can install the new version?

No the installation of Photoshop CS6 will not overwrite your installation of Photoshop CS5.  You are being prompted to close Photoshop CS5 because there are shared components which likely need to be updated.

  • I own a copy of CS6 and not cloud, so why am I asked to renew?

I own a copy of CS6 and not cloud, so why am I asked to renew?

Cupertino, Bangert, Even though you have copied all the files and migrated to your new pc, you will not be able to transfer the licensing information.
Would suggest you to uninstall PS CS6 using the native uninstaller from Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers
Re-install PS CS6 using the disc or from here, Download CS6 products
Use your serial key to register and you should be good to go.
Let me know in case you get into any issues.
    Cheers!!

  • Wanting to buy the BOXED version of CS6 - not the download! Scared of non-legit software. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a real copy of CS6?

Looking looking looking for a boxed legitimate copy of CS6. Does anyone know where I can buy it from? Too many scammers selling on amazon, ebay etc. Adobe seems to only have the download option on their website - but I really really want the boxed version.
    Hope someone can help!

The serial number is what you pay for not what’s on the DVD as that is the same as what can be downloaded.
Boxes can be stolen and the serial-numbers they have can be blacklisted by Adobe when they discover the theft, so I’d be suspicious of boxes of Adobe software from a non-Adobe-reseller so be careful.
I’d suggest you buy a CS6 serial-number from Adobe, themselves, and download CS6 from Adobe or ProDesignTools, which links to Adobe’s servers.
    CS6 can be purchased here:

  • My licensed copy of CS6 downloads but won't accept the serial number

I have a licensed copy of Photoshop CS6 (supplied only as a download by Adobe).  Following a computer crash, I needed to re-install CS6, the download completed, the software then asked for the serial no. which I duly entered, and despite the fact it is the registered number for this software (also shown in our Adobe account and from my own records), adobe will not register it, instead a window pops up after entering the required details, claiming that the registered number is not for the product it just downloaded.  This is a total contradiction of what is clearly shown on their own log of my purchases, which show exactly the same number entered for my copy of CS6.  Of course, despite the fact I only bought the damn software 9  months ago, they do not allow access to support in order for them to correct something that is clearly Adobe's own bug.  Basically, I have bought a very expensive program and they, in their wisdom have created a problem that means I can no longer have access to it.  This is daylight robbery and a shameful way to treat loyal customers who have spent thousands of pounds over the years for licensed copies of Adobe software.  All I ask is that a customer service advisor, correct the fault and register my copy with the number it has on record, because, for some reason, it won't let me do it.  I have today worked with a kind Microsoft technician for 6 hours, trying to re-install my licensed copy on to my restored version of windows to no avail, Adobe really do need to give people access to their own staff so that registry errors like this can be solved.  Lets face it, a forum is not going to be able to fix this one is it.

I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS6 (standard) from Adobe, once finished it then opened a window asking if I want it activated as a 30 day trial or as a licensed copy and once I choose the latter. It requested the serial number, so I entered the serial number applying to the licensed version I have of Photoshop CS6 (the same program I downloaded) which was then rejected, with an error message that stated that, although the serial number is valid, the program cannot be found on my computer (that is a mystery to me, given that it has just spent half an hour downloading it and has followed the download with the prompts), I was then prompted to choose from a drop down menu below.  The drop down menu shows the extended version of Photoshop CS6 but not the standard version that I bought last May, effectively preventing me from installing my own version of the software.  Is this a way that Adobe have of forcing everyone into ongoing contracts on cloud.  I just bought the program, I don't want to go on cloud.  Adobe's security was breached before and why should I be forced to pay twice.
After helping me reinstall windows 8.1 on to my computer an Engineer from Microsoft struggled with this all afternoon and most of this evening, and even he could not get it to work, so what chance have I got if he can't do it and Adobe refuse to help.

Unless I subscribe it seems I can't download an older version of AE (12) or CS6 ... I would like to test this before buying into it....Now if someone from Adobe could absolutely guarantee that with a subscription I'll be able install both versions (12 and 13...so I can save 1 down and then 1 down again, it would be great.
You should be able to install trials of all three currently available versions.
I know of a number of people who have all three installed and, as I said before, I have several versions installed at home. If you want an official Adobe word on it: opening After Effects projects from previous versions and saving back to previous versions

At work we are running CS6 because our IT department in their infinite wisdom decided that no computer connected to the "broadcast" network will be connected to the internet.
Keeping a production network disconnected from the internet isn't a bad idea. If I were your IT team, I would have this policy too. However, Adobe offers enterprise licenses of Creative Cloud that don't require an internet connection. (At my full-time job, our production machines aren't connected to the internet either and I'm lobbying for them to upgrade us to CC too.) Contact Adobe for more info on that one.

  • Can I buy both CS5 Education Edition and CS6 Education Edition?

    Hello everyone!
I recently bought Photoshop CS5 Extended Student Edition. Now I realised that CS6 is soon to be released and I'm all excited about all the new features. The education page of Adobe says that I am only allowed to buy one product every 12 months. My Question now is:
Are CS5 & CS6 considered the same product and only different versions or are they different products? So can I buy CS6 Student Edition when I gets released or do I have to do the commercial upgrade from my Student Edition? The latter one wouldn't be my favorite choice because ~450€ is a lot of money for a student...
Thank you in advance and have a nice weekend!

If you bought CS5 Edu. very recently, you should get the upgrade to CS6 Edu. for free.
    https://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?event=displayProduct&categoryOID=452 9549&store=OLS-EDU
This is what I have done. CS5 Edu. for $199 with a free upgrade to CS6.
Hope this helps, and you are able to get it.

  • Difference between Pre-owned and Refurbished

I want to buy Pre-owned iPhone 5 and I am asking the difference between the preowned and the refurbished . Also, I wanted to know if the preowned iPhonewill be having hardware problems or any scratches on the device

Also be aware that "when-create-record" may fire more often than you expect, like when:
    1. the form is opened and/or the operator first navigates into the block (you likely expect it to fire here, but what if the operator simply wants to query this time?);
    2. the operator navigates past the last record retrieved by a query;
    3. the operator does a clear-record, clear-block or clear-form;
    etc.
The "pre-insert" trigger will fire exactly once for each record at commit time. The only way it could be fired multiple times is if a database trigger or other, later form trigger fails with an error, and the operator fixes the problem and attempts the save again, then the pre-insert will fire again for each record.

  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 Vita pre-owned

    Couple of questions:
I saw this game on the site but it is not available to buy yet. When will it become available and will it include a new code for X-2 since that was a download?
I am a gamer's club member and got a $10 off preowned over $29.99. Will I be able to use both the coupon and my 20% off?

    Hello jjatindranath,
Final Fantasy is a good addition to any weekend, and I'm sorry we don't have a pre-owned version of X/X2 for PSVita for you at this time.  I'll be happy to address your questions today.
We don't have any way to anticipate when copies will be available, so I would encourage you to keep checking back periodically, as inventory can change daily.
Any digital codes provided in-pack on a new game purchase are not required for a trade-in, so I would not anticipate that a valid code would be provided if you were to purchase a pre-owned version.
Coupons are intended to be taken before the Unlocked discount is applied to a purchase, so you should be able to use a valid pre-owned coupon in addition to your Unlocked discount.
Thanks for the questions, and thank you for being a My Best Buy member.
    All the best,

  • Pre-Owned Game Limit

I am aware of the limits of new games, but is there any limit on combining GCU 10% discount with preowned games of the same title?  Thanks.

    Hi KingFudd,
Good question! To my knowledge, there isn't an official limit on the number of games that can be purchased using the 10% Gamers' Club Unlocked discount on pre-owned titles. Remember, however, that both our retail stores and BestBuy.com reserve the right to limit purchase quantities of every product we sell. Most media titles (CDs, movies, games, etc) are limited to five per customer.

  • Pre-Owned Phones

I want to get a pre-owned phone, my current one is breaking and I don't want to get a replacement for it, since I'm on my 2nd replacement of it.
However, my new every two is going to be up in about 3 months, and I'm worried if I get a pre-owned phone, that it'll reset my new every two. I wanted to get the free blackberry, so I could judge whether or not I'd want a new blackberry in 3 months.

If you do not purchase a new phone through Verizon or a retailer but instead buy a used one from a person it will not renew your contract. It only affects your next upgrade if you purchase it through Verizon or a retailer.

  • Certified pre-owned Incredible

I believe Verizon still offers certified pre-owned Incredibles at a reasonable price if you are willing to extend your contract.
I looked online last night and they no longer had the Dinc available as a CPO with or without a contract.
