Buying a used prepaid Pantech Caper on Ebay

I'm looking to upgrade my phone and I found the pantech Caper on verizon, but noticed it was sold out. I found it on Ebay but, I am a little confused on how I would activate it or add it to my account since it's been used. I plan on using it with the 50$ unlimited plan. If anyone can help that would be nice.

You can call the prepaid number at 1-888-284-6804, if your transferring the phone number from another cell be sure to backup your accounts before deactivating the old cell, once you change the number all your info will be lost. If your a new customer just call the prepaid number and they can get you activated, you will need to have either a prepaid card or Debit, or Charge number to active the phone.

Make sure you're using the correct code. For most iTunes cards, the code is under the scratchoff area on the back of the card. For more information, see this support article:

Best place to buy a used iPad?

I know the discussion has included Ebay, Craigslist and an Apple refurb. But what is the previous iPad model so I know what to look for on these sites? I don't need cell; only wifi. And do they sell refurbs on the Apple site or is there another site?

There aren't any truly "good" places to buy a used iPad other than from someone you know. Purchasing from any other seller is taking a risk, as you'll see if you peruse these forums for the number of threads where someone purchased a used iOS device only to find that it has Activation Lock and the seller can't be contacted or won't remove the lock. If you must buy a used iPad, at least buy from a vendor that has a return or dispute policy such as eBay or Amazon. I would avoid Craigslist like the plague; you have no recourse when purchasing from one of their ads.

I lost my iPhone on a New York City bus today and I doubt there's any chance I'll be getting it back I belong to AT&T and unfortunately my contract isn't eligible for renewal and won't be for another year. I just transferred my phone number over to a used Pantech Caper that I bought a few years ago. When I used the Caper previously I had no problem with it. And the phone i had before i transferred numbers worked just fine i was just having problems with some buttons not working. Now that i have transferred the number over to the Caper i can receive texts and picture messages but can not download the messages. I can not receive calls nor can i send texts out. after i try to send a text I receive a message saying I have insufficient fund to send message. oh extra info... i have the plan for 500 minutes and unlimited text picture messages and unlimited web. Please Help... I need my phone for work.

Buying a used Mac - what to look out for

I'm not really sure this should be in the MacBook Pro forum, but I had to put it somewhere.
I'm considering buying a used Mac for my son. My daughter is using an old Aluminum PowerBook and when she gets older, I'll upgrade her as well. For my son the unit will be for mostly at home, so it doesn't need to be a laptop, but since laptops can basically be used as desktops as well, I'm posting here.
What I want to know are any "gotcha's" that might not occur to me. For example, such and such types don't have particularly good battery life, the hard drive on this one is easy to change but not on that one. This one is known to have video problems but that one is great, etc.etc. Things to look out for or be aware of.
I'm not adverse to buying old PPC based systems. Some of the old PowerMacs with G5 processors can be had for really, really low prices, but they're obviously limited to Leopard.
This is a 10 year old boy, so I'm not going to spend a fortune on it. Kids will be kids, you know.
Thoughts anyone?

I assume you're ruling out completely all iBook G3's, right?
If you got a butt kickin' PowerMac it might be quite a machine at quite a price. I've seen some G5 quad core's selling for as little as $100. With something that old, though, how long will it be before there's something like a power supply failure.
Watch out for 17" iMac's from the 2006-2007 era. The displays have a tendency to develop vertical lines, and once they start doing it, it spreads like a disease across the display. WIth a unit like that you would have to use an external display and hide the original.
Some of the earlier MacBooks had some battery issues and charging issues.
I know for a fact that if you get a 2009 MacBook and put 4G of RAM into it you can comfortably run Mavericks. Of course if you read the posts of some of the people on this site they will claim you can ***never*** run Mavericks comfortably on anything. I'm not really sure what their problems are. You can pick one of these up for less than $200 for one in moderate shape to slightly over $200 for one in good shape.
As with any laptop, check the battery out. On all systems check the HD and OD, especially the latter, to see if their working. I had to do a refurbishment/resell program on some of our older stuff and the ODs were bad in almost all of them. Thoroughly check the HD if the unit is a laptop or it's over 3 years old (just my advice).
As far as PowerBooks, they're going to be too slow to handle any online video, but probably suitable enough for anything else. You can (I'm not joking) pick up a decent 12" model (1.33GHz, for example) for less than $70. You could also look at the 15" models but be wary of a problem some of them developed over time with RAM chips in a certain bank not being recognized.
For reasons known only to God, old Titaniums are selling for more than Aluminum PowerBooks. I really wonder if people on eBay see the black Titanium keyboard on the metal base and think they're getting a new unit. Titaniums in good shape are a rarity because the hinges in the back liked to bust. They also ran hot enough to burn your legs. I'd steer clear of them.
Most of the G4 iBooks we had and tested seemed OK. Some of the iMac G5s seem to be remarably solid. With the 2009 Intel iMac's (and maybe 2010 as well) you may need to be careful about the drive you install do to an unusual thermal monitoring setup.

What exactly do you see when trying to buy a game, what messages do you get on-screen ?
If it's an account that you've just created then unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store. You should be able to remove the card after entering its details.

The lugs that hold the base onto the phone are not strong enough and the base often needs to be replaced. Give the base (the bit with the button on it) a tug to see whether it's broken.

I had the same error when trying to update my apps on my ipod touch. I tried to input my security code numerous times to no avail. I also made sure my billing address was the same as what my bank had on file. To fix the issue I went into iTunes, logged onto the iTunes store, went to account settings and reviewed my recent purchases. Turned out that I had made a recent purchase and didn't have enough money left on my credit card to pay for it at the time. I paid off the credit card, and then input my security code once more and now it works fine. I've heard that some debit or pay as you go credit cards require a minimum balance, so make sure you have at least that amount in your account.

The iPhone has Activation Lock and will require you to have the previous owner's Apple ID and password or you'll need to get the previous owner to remove the device from his/her iCloud account:

If you can't reach the previous owner or he/she is unwilling to cooperate, then the device is unusable by you. Return the iPhone for a refund if you can.

Not officially for sale in the US, at the present time, although Apple's flagship store on 5th Ave, in New York City, gets supplies from time-to-time. However, no GSM US model iPhone 5 will support LTE anywhere other than North America. It will not support LTE in Europe. If you want LTE support in Europe, you need to purchase your phone in Europe.
