Buying an Iphone 3GS

I've found the following site: "http://www.heraklia-shop.com/" and i would like to know if anyone has any experience with them, because i don't know if they are legit or just a scam, can anyone help please. This site is from greece.

One of the biggest problems with purchasing an iphone from a non-official source is that most, if not, all have been hacked to unlock them. These phones will give you nothing but problems in the future. We get posts here daily from people who purchase such phones, only to find them locked back to the carrier they were originally locked to after a restore or software update. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done to help them.

  • Minimum age to buy an iPhone 3GS outright?

    Hello,
I didn't know where to put this - so I just thought this was the most relevant.
Is there a minimum age for buying an iPhone 3GS from the Apple Store?
    Thanks in advance

Not that I'm aware of. Of course, activating it for service is another story. You'd have to be old enough to meet the carrier's requirements for service.

  • Buying an iPhone 3GS without the AT&T contract.??

Hi there... I live Ohio and I was thinking of buying an iPhone 3GS (16GB).
My question is that if I buy the iPhone from an Apple Store without the AT&T contract (approx 600USD for the 16GB model) from the United States, will I be able to use my phone in other countries with their local network carrier's SIM cards? I have a traveling job (have to switch countries every 3-4 months or at least twice a year) so I usually buy a local SIM from the country that I live in since that is a cheaper option for me.
I have wanted an iPhone since a very long time now but I hate what Apple has done (the contract with AT&T). What good is a phone for a person like me who travels so much in a year?!! I need a phone where I can switch SIM cards without any hassles.
Hope someone has an answer to my question. I don't want to buy the iPhone unless I'm absolutely sure that it will work in other countries (mainly Australia, UAE & India)

ALL U.S. iphones are carrier locked to AT&T in the U.S. They CANNOT be activated with any other carrier in any other country.
You need to buy an unlocked phone from one of the few countries that offer this.

  • If i buy an iphone 3gs now can I........

if i buy an iphone 3gs now, can I port a number from a helio phone who's contract expires on the 29th after having received a number for the iphone?

I'm sure you can. I was in a similar situation when i bought my 1st gen iPhone and ported a number about 2 months after getting the phone. Was not a problem. But I guess it's always best to check with AT&T, but I would call rather than asking in a store. The store personnel seem more interested in selling than answering questions. Twice I've gone into a store thinking it would be easier than calling to do something and twice they put me on the phone with customer service from a phone in the store. DUMB DUMB DUMB

  • Where can I buy an iPhone 3GS for cheap?

Hello. Does anyone know where I can buy a used iPhone 3GS for cheap, and how much money do they go for?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. • Is buying an iPhone 3GS worth it in 2012?

I'm looking to buy an iPhone.  I want one unlocked as I often move abroad, but I don't want to pay the price for an iPhone 4 or 4S.  I don't care about the retina display.  I am also prone to dropping my phone and would most likely smash the back of a 4 or 4S within a week.  Should I buy a 3GS?

I'd agree with xtrmecarbon, your best taking all the above into concideration.
But then you've also got to ask yourself, on 02 for example: (Pay As You Go) iPhone 3GS your looking at £319 for the iPhone itself. From here you could go for a "Pay Monthly Sim" with 02.
If you go for a "12 Month SIM" your find your "Pay Monthly Sim" will cost roughly half the price than "Paying Monthly", as your an O2 Customer for an entire year. so for example i was paying £27 a month, i'm now only paying £15 because i'm with O2 for a year. obviously theirs extra charges if you go over your contract usage, same as all phone contracts.
This would cost you in total: £499 (Including iPhone 3GS, Black, 8GB) if you didn't go over your usage for £15 a month for example, now you could properly say for sure the iPhone 3GS will be around for another year at least, obviously were not 100% certain on that.
Question you've got to ask yourself would you rather save an extra £300 roughly, I'd suggest buying the handset on it's own, and doing a sim only deals, will work out cheaper in the long run..
    Hope this advice helps!

  • Purchase applecare vs buy new iphone 3GS

    Hi Folks,
My iphone 3G is about a year old and I am now presented with the option of buying applecare for $69. I checked my upgrade options and I can buy a new iphone 3G S for $199. So it seems to me that if something major or costly happens to my current iphone (lost, stolen, damaged, expensive repair...) I can just exercise the upgrade option. And if so, then applecare as insurance is costing $69 to protect an item that's replace for $199 -- not a very good insurance purchase. Of course, I would have to start a new two year contract, but that would not be a problem.
    Anything wrong with this logic?
    thanks,

    gmansc wrote:
Yes, definitely a subsidized price. The cost should be something more like $399 or $499 (can't recall exactly), and then the applecare might be a good policy.
If you need an iPhone as a back up then you would be keeping the old one, if not then perhaps eBay? You would probably get more than the $200 upgrade.
So the added plus with release of the 3GS and Apple/ATT upgrade policy is that one need not worry about insuring with applecare those iphones that are upgraded for a reasonable price.
....and you'd have a brand new warranty on the new unit.
One hitch is if one had to turn in the old iphone 3G, or its sim card, to upgrade. But I don't think this is the case. Anybody know for sure?
Not in England, so some of what I'm saying may be invalid.

  • What about buying an iPhone 3GS in Aug. 2012?

Am guessing similar threads exist, but I couldn't find one.  Apologies if this is way redundant.
I can pick up a "new" one on ebay for around $300, maybe a little less (not refurb -- usually they are phones people received from warranty replacements, but decided to not use).  At this stage with the iPhone 4GS around and the new one anticipated to debut before the end of 2012, is the 3GS a good choice for $300.  That is topping out (over) my budget, but do-able.  Am on Verizon and don't want to get into a contract with them, ever, so the 4G and 4GS w/o contract are out of my budget completely.  So it's down to a new 3GS or I'll pick one of the other operating system smartphones that would be a more "current" model withink their line than the 3GS is within the iPhone group.
I will mostly use it for email, and web browsing.  I write a lot of long emails and prefer a physical keyboard, but am willing to adapt to a virtual keyboard if the 3GS is right for me in all other ways.   Used a Blackberry Tour for couple of years at work.  I'd say the experience was "Eh".  It did way more "business" stuff than I ever was interested in or utilized, but it was okay for email and kind of slow on web.
So if you've had or used iPhone and other system smartphones, please share your thoughts or exprience.  There are Motorola Droids with physical keyboards for $200 and under on ebay, and lots of nice looking Samsung smartphones for same.
I'm super tired of emailing on my Samsung Alias 2, but it gets the basics done for now.
    Thanks, Thanks, Thanks.

    You're welcome.
Unless you purchase a new CDMA iPhone 4 or 4S at Verizon's subsidized or discounted price, you shouldn't need to have a two year contract with Verizon.
I can't help you with non-iPhones since all android phones are nothing but a poor iPhone copy.

  • Where to buy the iphone 3gs ?

    Hi
    Bit of advice please?
Should I purchase my new iphone from an O2 store or other mobile phone shop such as Car Phone Wharehouse ?
Are there any advantages / disadvantages from NOT buying direct from O2 ???
    Thanks

Can buy from any official place. For me, I would prefer going to an Apple Store as the employees there seem far more knowledgeable about the device and can answer all questions. However, the carrier store is a good place to go if you want to get good answers about your plan. So just depends which you think you will have more questions about.
Yes both places know about the others sides of each, but each side will be more helpful on their particular subjects.
If you really don't care either way, you can always just buy from here right now.

  • Can I buy an unlocked iPhone 3GS (UK) and use my 3 sim card in it?

My friend is on Orange, his contract has ended and he is upgrading to the iPhone 4S. I want to buy his iPhone 3GS and use my pay monthly 3 sim card in it.
He has spoke to Orange, paid £20 and is having the phone officially unlocked, he will recieve an email in 28 days, once done he needs to put my simcard in the phone, connect to his itunes and put the code in which will unlock it.
Can I then have the phone and sync it on my itunes on my computer or is it forever locked to his itunes?
Does this sound right or am I missing something?
    Cheers.

So the last part of setting it up as a new device is done by plugging it into my computer, itunes etc...?
Just thought my mate might be pulling a fast one, ha! Ive never owed anything apple so am new to it all.
I will enjoy it im sure, I tried to get his new 4S but he wasnt having any of it lol!
    Anyways, cheers.

  • How to buy iphone 3Gs 32gb

hai, name is amel siregar.. i'm from indonesia..
i want to buy apple iphone 3Gs 32gb of centers, how to process a payment? here too expensive and whether the iphone isn't locked in indonesia,if i buy direct from apple center isn't in indonesia?

In Indonesia, Telkomsel is the ONLY official carrier. All iphones officially sold in Indonesia are sold as carrier locked to Telkomsel with NO provision to unlock them. If you want to buy an unlocked iphone, you will have to purchase from one of the locations listed in this support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937
Bear in mind, if you purchase in another country you will have to return the phone to the country of original purchase for any and all warranty & service work.

  • Can ATT or Apple unlock an iPhone 3GS I buy from a friend?

I want to buy an iPhone 3GS from a friend who had ATT, but the contract is expired. Can I buy the iPhone from him and take it to ATT or Apple to have it unlocked?

The iPhone is not unlocked with a code. If AT&T authorizes the unlock they update the status of the phone in Apple's master database to show that it is unlocked. The phone must then be Restored with iTunes. When a phone is restore it is re-activated, and it will be unlocked. If your friend had the phone on AT&T and completed the term of the contract and does not owe AT&T any money the account is in good standing.
