I bought an iphone 4 s in Brazil. If I wear in Italy and put a SIM of Wind, or Tim, it works? Instead I have a friend who has brought his iphone in Brazil and put the SIM in Brazil and is operated, so there should be no problem in Italy. What do you think

Unlocked means it can be used with any carrier's SIM card and service, but if not a carrier that sells and supports the iPhone, a feature such as visual voicemail will not be available and maybe others.

only some carriers in europe depending on what countries use the same frequencies as AT&T
if it's not unlocked then you will pay a lot for roaming if it's unlocked you can just pick up a prepaid sim with data on

Unlocked means unlocked, so yes.
But, support and namely warranty coverage may not be available for you in Norway or anywhere but in the US with any iPhone purchased in the US, even an unlocked iPhone purchased in the US.

Wind mobile wasnt supporting Iphones until they decided to let people use Iphone 5s with their $40 plan.And as i know, Turkey is the only country that asks you to register the imei on your passport to use it. So, most of people did not know it. so procedures are changing country by country. It should, from all the posts I've read. Just make sure you get the AT&T version, or more accurately NOT the Verizon version. (if you buy it from one of those retailers)
There's 3 basic kinds of iPads.
3G/Wifi with SIM
3G/Wifi with CDMA (think that's the abbreviation)
and
Wifi only
the Sim and wifi only will work in the UK with only a plug adapter, but the CDMA one is not compatible with the UK's cell system

my phone is gonna die, and i would like to buy an iphone to use with my at&t gophone sim card for these months left, and then use it with my italian sim card, but i know its hard to buy one with no contract and it needs to be unlocked to be used in europe...does anyone know if i can buy one on internet that will work??

There is only TWO countries that sell Totally unlocked iPhones as they have laws on business practices

I own a MacBook from 2008 and an iPad from 2011, I am a loyal apple customer. I have never doubted my choice to be a life long apple user, until today. I have been planning on buying an iPhone 4 when my current cellphone plan runs out, but today I updated my iPad to the iOS 6 and I HATE it. I'm curious to know if I were to buy an iPhone 4, would I automatically be forced onto iOS 6, or could I choose the one before that? This will influence my choice to buy an iPhone at all. I am incredibly disappointed with the map app and would rather look into a completely different phone than be annoyed on a daily basis with the iPhone, which I know can be a better device than it is today.

If you buy from Apple (do they even sell iPhone 4 any more?) or a cellular carrier, you will almost certainly get iOS 6. If you buy from some lesser known third party, you may have more selection, but then there is another party in the transaction that you have to think about (in case of hardware failure, for example(.
Whatever it is that you don't like about iOS 6 is very likely to improve soon. If it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to go that route.

No. Sim Free usually refers to a phone that has no Sim card inside.
Most of the time Unlocked Phones are sim free. As in: they do not come with a sim card.
However there are exceptions, a good example is the Unlocked T-Mobile version in the U.S. online store. They are unlocked but are not sim-free because they come packaged with a T-Mobile sim card that can be removed.
Any sim card from any carrier, can then be placed inside the phone and it will work.
