Buying an iTunes book for my Windows 7 pro laptop

Hi, guys.  There's a book that I very much want, and it would be both cheaper and more useful to me in electronic format.  But I don't have an iPhone, iPod, or iPad; what I have is a Win 7 Pro computer, with the latest iTunes app for Windows on it.  According to the docs, this app will handle DRM just fine (and, yes, the book I want does have DRM).
When I try to buy the book, though, I receive the following error message:
Do I really have to have an iPad to read this?  If necessary I'll spend the extra money to buy the hard copy version, cut off the spine, and scan the whole darn thing into my computer, then recycle the paper (I hate to kill trees for paper), but, among other things, that means paying more, waiting for the book to be shipped to me, and then doing a whole heck of a lot of extra work.
In order to find the site, go to the iTunes store, click on books, and then enter "The Liberty Tuning Chord Book" in the search box.  But don't go ahead and buy it unless you really want your own copy -- I'd feel horrible if anyone wasted 15 bucks to research this for me.
I'm relying on the greater knowledge of people who've been doing this a lot longer than I have, and thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.
Margret

There is an iTunes application for Windows 7.  I have it.
The book is not available in Kindle or Kobo format, or I would already own it.  It has too many graphics for Kindle, so the author put it in iTunes instead.  iTunes is the only electronic option available for this book.  Personally, I think the author should have at least considered putting it into ePub format, but apparently he didn't.
And please factor the iTunes app for Windows into future responses.  You can find it online easily enough.  The question is not whether the book is available in some other format; that's already been answered.  The question is whether the iTunes app for Windows will do the job.  I have a friend with Apple machines, including iPads; I think I'll ask him whether I can come over this evening and try putting something heavy in graphics (without DRM, to avoid potential problems) from his collection onto my computer.  If it works; I'm golden (and will, of course, delete his book, since I'm not trying to violate anyone's copyright).  On the other hand, he's been pretty busy lately, which is why I've been asking here, instead.  If I'm able to get to his house and try this, I'll let you know how it comes out.  But until I have some kind of an answer that takes everything into account, the question remains open.

TV shows will only appear in the cloud if you are in a country where they can be re-downloaded from the store (you can't add them yourself), in which case they will appear in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app for re-downloading. But they will only appear there if you are in a country where they can be re-downloaded, and then only as long as the TV company leaves them in the store (content providers occasionally remove their items).

After spending another two days on pinning down the iTunes 10.5 blank store page problem, here's the solution to be found: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3372617?start=0&tstart=0
    Look out for "japiohelp".
    In short:
    a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
    b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
    c) reboot the computer
    and Bob's your uncle.

  • Setting to have iTunes Pause when Locking Windows XP Pro

    Happy New Year,
iTunes used to have a setting where if I locked my desktop, it would pause iTunes.
Does anyone know what that setting might be in the latest version of iTunes?
    Thanks,
    JDL
      Windows XP Pro

I got the iTunes 7 to work on XP Pro 64bit. What I did was this:
    1. Downloaded DriverInstaller_AMD64EM64T.exe
    2. Installed it.
    3. Created this file tree: C:\Windows\Sysnative\drivers (Easier terminology, I went into the Windows folder and created a folder named "sysnative", opened that folder and created another folder called "drivers".
    4. Then I located the folder where I installed DriverInstaller_AMD64EM64T.exe ..
    5. I took the file called GEARAspiWDM and COPIED IT. I DID NOT MOVE THIS FILE!!!
    6. I pasted a COPY of this file into sysnative\drivers. The folder I just made.
    7. I installed iTunes 7, not 7.6. 7.6 and this method won't solve the burning issue. That would require more programs and more patients.
Note, you will have to manipulate iTunes when you want to burn. The best way to do this, I found, was to simply make a playlist and right click the playlist on the left column and select burn to disk. It should act normally.

  • Can not find windows sever 2003 file sever on a windows 8 pro laptop

I can not find my windows sever 2003 file sever on my windows 8 pro laptop. I have tried over wireless and over ethernet. can some one please help me!

    Hi,
Assuming this Windows 8 Enterprise machine isn't locked down with Group Policy.
This type of problem usually requires that you change the lanman server parameters in order to get Windows 8 working with older servers. Do these adjustments on the Windows 8 machines that needs to connect to the server.
Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy
    Local Policies - Security Options
Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
Set to Send LM & NTLM responses only
Set the Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
    Disable Require 128-bit encryption
Reboot all machines after making the adjustment.

  • ITunes 7.6 and Windows XP Pro x64  ---- 64 bit version of Windows XP Pro

My wife was given an iPod nano, so I downloaded the current version of iTunesSetup.exe from www.apple.com and tried to run the executable. It told me that it wasn't designed to install iTunes on my 64 bit version of Windows XP Pro, and that I should go back to www.apple.com and download the 64 bit installer. I went back to www.apple.com and searched for the 64 bit installer in vain. There is only one main link to the current installer and the website determines which version of the installer you're given. After a few google searches I managed to aquire iTunes64setup.exe from the Apple site. I ran the executable and it told me "This iTunes installer requires that your computer is running Windows Vista 64-bit" and then it gave me the option to exit. I ended up installing iTunes from the executable I had originally downloaded. I have iTunes 7.6.2.9 installed now but it doesn't detect, or can't operate my DVD burner, so I can't rip music with iTunes for use on my wife's nano. I get this error report when I run the Diagnostic test built into iTunes.

And there was no change in the diagnostic when I first tried to repair the install and then tried to reinstall iTunes. I'm sure the burner is working because I can play music, watch movies and all the normal stuff a DVD burner can do using Nero.
I'm guessing I need an iTunes version of 64 bit optical drive driver.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • How do I install iTunes on my new Windows 8 Acer laptop? Nothing seems to be working

How do I get iTunes to install on my new Windows 8 Acer laptop? Nothing seems to be working.

Yes, you can use the staller CD that came with your iPod. It should have all the iPod Updater and iTunes software needed for your iPod and your new computer.
Also, if you don't have the CD available or you want a different way, you can install iTunes 6.0.5 from Apple's website. See this link for installation:
    Download iTunes 6
Also, you'll need the iPod Updater software (as I previously mentioned). You can download this from Apple's website on here as well:
    iPod Updater
    iPod Software
I hope this info solves the issue,

  • New installed iTunes 9 cancelled my Windows XP Pro ability to read CD drive

I followed iTunes instructions to uninstall and re-install iTunes and related software. Now my Dell computer with Windows XP Pro will not read a music CD. What did the iTunes instructions delete or fail to re-install... so I can read and copy my CD music to iTunes 9?
    Thanks
    Mike NN

If you copied folders from another PC to your new PC, You need to check the permissions. You probably do not have permission to write to your iTunes Music folder.
Your account needs to have full control of the iTunes folder and all sub folders. You should take ownership of the folders too.
Here is some vista help, it should be similar for Windows 7:

  • Need some info before buying a 8800 GT for 1st gen Mac Pro.

Ok, I'm thinking about buying a 8800 GT for my Quad Core 2.66 but, I have a few questions.
    1. Will it run under Windows XP 64-Bit
    2. I want it for the pro apps (Final Cut Studio 2) but i've been hearing other video cards run those progs better. Is that true? if so which card should I get.
That's really it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will find a recent user report here.
You will need to get the requisite drivers from NVidia to install in Windows. If you do some searching you will find numerous discussions about the 8800 GT and its not too spectacular performance with Pro Apps. You can also find reviews at Bare Feats.

  • Buggy iTunes in an old Windows XP Pro. SP3?

    Hello.
A few days ago, I downloaded and installed the (lat/new)est iTunes (never had it before) into my old, updated Windows XP Pro. SP3 machine because I got an unwanted, used iPod Touch (first generation) and iPod Nano (6th generation) for free. I seem to have problems with iTunes though:
    1. I tried (creat/mak)ing a brand new account, but nothing happens after clicking on its link and showing "Accessing iTunes Store" message in iTunes' top status screen. I even tried rebooting to see if my machine just in case, but that did not help. Same with IE6 to IE8 upgrade with its required reboot.
    2. During a synch with iPod Nano, there was a mobile.exe something crash when syncing (had to restore backup to one of my iPods that left tons of mess (half of it was "other" instead of audio) on its storage after iTunes did a verification).
Is it me or is iTunes really buggy and slow? Does Apple even have an web version of iTunes? Google search didn't seem to show it.
    Thank you in advance.

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)
I only see mdnsDSP from Apple in my WinSock Provider tabs in AutoRuns v11.70. I do remember I had a low memory error during a very long synchronization, but that only happened once. I doubt that is related to creating a new account especially after I rebooted my very old Windows XP Pro. SP3 machine.

There is nothing wrong at all with our internet connection, and I have been through all the suggestions on the Apple help page, and spent 2 hours on the phone this morning getting passed round various call centres. They claimed they had not heard of this problem before. I successfully purchased a calendar in Dec with no problems at all - so I just don't understand!

    Thanks
Don't bother, as your friend will not be able to use it.
As noted in the iTunes USA Store Terms and Conditions: "Gift Certificates, iTunes Cards, Content Codes, and Allowances purchased in the United States may be redeemed through the Services only in the United States, its territories, and possessions." And further:  "You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."
Try to find a more suitable gift for your friend.

  • HT1918 I tried to change my password to my business credit card since almost all of the music and other things I buy from iTunes is for my work. But it wouldn't take that credit card number. I get the error message, the account is not connected to my Bank

Hopefully, my question will appear with this comment. I'm new to Apple support. I really wanted an answer from Apple's billing/accounting department. I didn't think I'd need to submit it to a whole community to get an answer. I just want to change my account number to my business credit card but every time I try I get the error message that this account is not connected to my bank. Why is that necessary? It's my WORK credit card. It's not going to be connected to my personal bank account. I'm sure I'm not the only one that purchases work-related items from iTunes. What can I do to use this credit card when I am purchasing something for work? Can anyone assist me?

First, please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. The only people who will reply to your posts are we your fellow users. iTunes Support will never respond to posts made here.
As to your issue, confirm with your bank that they do not block access from on-line services or otherwise have restrictions on with whom a card can be used. For some company cards, such blocks can be set up. If you confirm that no such restrictions are in place, post back and we'll go from there.
    Regards.
