Buying extra storage for ipad

Im almost out of space on my Air 16GB.  trying to figure out if it makes more fiscal sense to buy one with more memory, but I heard you can add to the memory space on the device, rather than buying a new devide altogether.  anyone help me with how i do that?

There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.

How to Remove “Other” Data from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • If you buy extra storage for iCloud when it's canceled is all the saved stuff deleted

If I bought extra storage for iCloud when I cancel paying it will all my data be deleted?

Certain services such as your iCloud email, iCloud backup and document and data syncing are suspended until you purchase enough storage.

  • Can i buy more storage for iPad??

Can i get or buy more GB for my iPad?? I travel alot and like to buy movies but i only have 5 GB left :(

Are you talking about iCloud storage or storage on your iPad?  Your iTunes purchases DO NOT count towards your iCloud storage, and 5GB comes with your iCloud account for free.

  • HT4847 Can I buy extra storage for each Apple device by having more than one Apple ID?

    Hi All!
I have multiple Apple devices and would like to have separate storage for each device, Ipad, Iphone, and Ipod. Is this possible? Can I have more than one Apple ID?

Not if you want them to share the same iCloud account so they sync the same data between all your devices.  To share the same account, they have to all be set up with the same iCloud ID, and will share the same 5GB of free storage (but you can always purchase more).
If you want them to be on separate iCloud accounts, you can set up a different iCloud account on each device using as separate Apple ID for iCloud on each.  (You can have more than one Apple ID).  If you do this, they will each have their own, separate iCloud account with 5GB of free storage, but will not sync iCloud data between them.

  • Need extra storage for photos for my ipad ...

I need extra storage for my ipad to store photos on ... I have so far been looking at the Airport Time Capsule & Seagate Wireless Plus.
    Can anyone recommend any? Thanks

If you need to offload photos as you have too many, the best way is to plug the iPad into you computer running Mac OSX and dump them into iphoto.
If you want to use something by wireless, without a computer then any network connected hard disk will work much the same. You cannot use file storage directly anyway.. you need to load a file app to start with.
I think use whichever works out the cheaper for you.
Do note the TC is really not designed to do this job and if you already use the TC for Time Machine it is messy loading files onto it. This is apparently a new purchase so you are not using the TC at all..
The TC lacks a method to back itself up.. And this is one of its great weaknesses.. if the TC fails.. and they all fail at some point. How are you going to recover those photos?? From iPad you will not have the tools needed to do backups of the TC to another location.
I have no idea if the seagate has built in proper backup but I would find out.

  • I can't buy extra storage space for my iCloud account..

    Hi All.
I use iTunes 10.5 and ios 5. My iCloud space is mostly full. I have been trying to purchase the 10GB extra space since yesterday but it keeps on giving me an error message (An unknown error has occurred).
I tried over my iPhone, iPad, and Windows 7 iCloud Control Panel. Failed each time, several times.
    Please assist.
    Regards,
    Jaber

I guess the problem is getting a little bit more clear to me.
My guess is that we all use iTunes giftcards (as some of you already said)
and no credit card linked to our accounts.
So this could be the problem that we all are getting the unkown error issue.
But then again, as we all can read in the terms and conditions of iCloud, it says that a valid credit card is needed for purchasing extra storage for iCloud, "AND" as well is itunes store credit a legit way of purchasing extra storage for iCloud.
So my guess is, they would accept iTunes store credit, but only when you would have a credit card linked into your account.
I hope this isn't true and it is just another problem, but it all points in this direction.
That would be a big fail.

  • HT201318 Need help with being double charged on my icloud account when purchasing extra storage for my ipad

Need help with being double charged on my icloud account when purchasing extra storage for my ipad?

I had this same problem on my 4S. I fixed it by restoring the phone to factory defaults. Previously, I had taken the additional step of restoring from backup but, as soon as I did, the problem returned. The fix is a hassle as I now have to reinstall my apps but at least I can manage mail on the phone.
The problem also occurred on my iPad2 but I'm not restoring it as it's a serious hassle (see above) and I don't actually read much mail on the device.
As a side note, I noticed incredibly high load averages (5+ processes for 1, 5, and 15 minutes; 12+ for 1 and 5 minutes at one point) as well as CPU usage that didn't drop below 15% (apparently all user processes, system seemed to be about normal). As could be expected, this also lead to incredibly rapid battery depletion.
I can't tell what processes were hogging the CPU as neither of my devices are jailbroken and Apple doesn't seem to like 'top' much.

If you want to play it on the Mac, you need to buy it again. iOS and Mac OS X versions of applications are separate products.

  • When u buy storage for iPad in iCloud and can't download anything after it

HHave iPad 2 16g bought 15g storage threw iCloud but can't download movies

You can't buy additional iPad storage without buying a higher capacity iPad; iCloud storage is separate from that on the devices itself. You need to delete content from the iPad until it has enough free space to store the movies.

  • I just purchased extra storage for my iCloud.  How and where do I access it?  I purchased movies and audio books to find out that I didn't have enough storage (the reason for the extra storage purchase).  I have no idea where to find them now.  Help?!

How do I use my iCloud???
I purchased 4 movies and 2 audio books from iTunes only to find out my iPad2 didn't have enough storage, so I purchased more storage from iCloud.
My iTunes account only shows the 4 movies that need to still be downloaded (not the two books)  After purchasing 20GB from iCloud I am still receiving the  "There is not enough available storage.  You can manage your storage in Settings" message.  I have gone to my Settings, where it shows I have the new, extra storage.  I have set all the iCloud settings as shown on the Apple website.  In my iCloud settings, it shows I have 17GB available out of 25GB.   In my General settings, it shows that I have a capacity of 28.6 GB, while my Available is 2.9GB.  (????)
I don't know why I still can't download the movies.  I wouldn't know where to go (how to get to) the iCloud if I could...
Also, iTunes has sent me receipts for the movies and audio books I purchased as well.  Where are they???
Thank you SO very much for any assistance you can offer me!
