Buying from an iTunes store other than your home country question

I would very much like to download from the Canadian iTunes store. However, I'm unable to (I'm in the US.) Is there a solution for downloading from another countries iTunes store?
thanks!

This question is asked frequently so I'll just quote the most complete answer (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:
In order to buy from any given country's iTunes Music Store, you must have either:
a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or
b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
.......this is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice. And this also applies to all the legal download stores that carry major-label content, not just the iTMS.

  • HT1924 Is there a way to purchase from another countries itunes store ( other than your home country where your registered ) ?

I am looking for a way to be able to purchase form the itunes UK store , currently I use the Australian one and tried changing my country but when I went to purchase the TV shows I wanted it said I was not authorised to use this particular itunes store? Are they not linked? Is there a way to be a more 'global ' itunes customer?
    Thanks

No, you can currently only buy from your own country's store - to be able to buy content from another country's store you need a valid billing address in that country and be in that country when buying from it. You can try requesting that the content that you want to buy be added to the Australian store, but ultimately it's the content providers (in this case the TV companies) that will have to grant Apple a license to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Is there a way to buy something from an iTunes store other than my own local one?

No, unless you have a valid billing address in that country and you are in that country when purchasing from it - otherwise you can only purchase from the store that is based in the country where you are.

  • Buying from several ITunes Stores

When I try to buy from another Itunes Store, I get "Your account is not authorized to use this ITunes Store (US)" and it sends me to the authorized one (France). This is crazy! Each store has songs that are not available in the other. Are we restricted to what we may listen to?

The issue of cross store purchasing comes up frequently so I'll just quote one of the most complete explanations (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:

Most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to iTunes Support here, we won't know why.
What happens when you try to buy something, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?
If you are getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them for help : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Want to buy from another itunes store

I have an account with the itunes store in Denmark but want to buy some music from the store in the UK (which isn't available yet in DK). This doesn't seem possible - I keep getting directed back to the Danish store - WHY??? (I am fairly new to all this as you can probably tell).

Apple are currently under investigation in Europe over not allowing UK customers to buy from for example the French store which as Zevoneer says is due to the dictates of the Record Industry. However such a policy flies in the face of European rules on free movement of goods within the EU (which is why there is an investigation).
    See http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/12/03/appleitunes_eurocomplaint/
So while Sorers in Denmark (in Europe) might want to buy from the UK store (also in Europe) due to the bigger selection of tracks, despite the fact that the UK store has the second highest iTMS prices in the world, we in the UK would like to buy from the Denmark (or France, or Ireland, etc.) which have the second cheapest iTMS prices in the world.

    yes, you are.
*From the itunes store terms of service*:
+to purchase from an iTunes Store in a particular country, you must have both a residential address and a billing address in that particular country. Items on any particular country's iTunes Store are available only for distribution to customers who use a credit card, debit card, iTunes Gift Certificate, or iTunes Gift Card issued in and for that country.+

  • TS3297 Case ID: 491015140 My itunes Store doesn´t has music. I live in Angola. Why can´t I buy from another itunes store. music from all singers like Rihanna or others artists. it doesn´t accept my crdit card in other country. I need a solution

My Itunes-Angola doesn´t has any music (songs) at all. I would like to buy songs from itunes store from a diferrent country. but it doesn´t allow me.

You can only buy/download content from your own country's store - to be able to buy from another country's store you will need to be in that country and have a valid billing address in that country on your iTunes account (content is licensed to Apple to sell by the content providers on a country-by-country basis).
In order to sell music in Angola the record companies will have have to grant Apple licenses to do so - until if/when they do that then unfortunately you won't be able to buy music from Apple. You can try leaving feedback for Apple to let them know that there are people there that would like to buy music : http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Buying from US iTunes Store

    Hi all,
Knowing Apple the answer is probably 'NO' or even 'Sod off, your having a laugh', but is it possible to buy from the US iTunes store from the UK?
    Thanks
    Matt

Keep in mind that you will have to use his iTunes account (and then authorize your computer at home with his account) or create a new iTunes account here in the US for you. But you would have to use a gift card because your credit card has a UK billing address.
Then when you get home, you'd have to authorize that account on your computer also.
Either way, you will have music on two different accounts you need to have authorized on your home computer.
You regular account and the new account.

  • Buying Music from Stores other than Your Country

Is it possible to do so?
i heard that buying a gift card on eBay from another country works...

Sorry, no. Gift cards require that they be used within the country of purchase & that you have a billing address in that country. In order to purchase from any country's store, you can also have a credit card with an attached billing address in that country. These rules are required by the copyright holder's for content, not Apple.

  • Why don't the changes to my playlists and new songs (except the ones I buy from the iTunes store that automatically download onto my iPod) always sync to my iPod Touch 4th Generation?

I haven't yet tried it in iTunes 10.5.3 (I'm downloading it right now), but I don't expect that Apple has fixed the problem, if there is one. I have it set to automatically sync my music and sometimes it will work, usually when I make large changes. To overcome this, I have to unselect the (a?) playlist from the music sync for my iPod, sync it, reselect the playlist, and sync it again. It's very annoying to me. This problem exists whether I sync it with a cord or wirelessly. I have it set to backup on my computer (last generation MacBook (2010), base model, OS X 10.7.2).

  • Buying from the itunes store

When I originally set up my ipod I can't remember a lot of the things I was prompted to do.
I can't remember what was involved in setting up an account.
Now, when I have gone to buy an album it has asked me to sign in. I put in my username and password etc and it tells me: 'To use this apple ID you must first log in to the 'my info webpage' then provide additonal security information'.
I don't know what this is or where to find it?
It's probably something dead easy and I'm being stupid, but hey, I'm stupid.

  • TS3297 iTunes puts up a message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Hong Kong Store." I had not requested anything from the HK store at that point, and I have never used any store other than the HK one. How I can clear that messag

I've been running iTunes on WinXP for years with few problems.  I have all my iTunes files on an external USB drive. I just bought a new PC running Win7, 64-bit.
I connected the external USB drive to the new PC and installed 64-bit iTunes on it. When iTunes started up, I pointed it at the iTunes directory in the external drive, using Edit > Preferences > Advanced > iTunes Media Folder Location. It showed a progress bar that it was updating the iTunes Library. I signed in and authorized the new machine. I have one spare authorization.
Then iTunes put up a message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Hong Kong Store." I had not requested anything from the HK store at that point, and I have never used any store other than the HK one.
When I click OK, the iTunes Store page remains blank, apart from saying "iTunes Store" in the middle of the page.
I went to "View My Account" and pressed the Reset button to "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading items", but that doesn’t fix this particular warning. I also tried Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Warnings and Rest Cache.
But still, every time I click the “App Store” button in the iTunes Store window, the message appears. If I click the Books, Podcasts or iTunesU buttons, these display normally.  So I’m stuck with being unable to purchase apps, other than through my iPad and iPhone.
If I move the external drive back to the XP machine, the same thing happens.  If I go to another PC - a notebook running Vista - everything is normal.
Any idea how I can clear that message?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Further info on my question above.
I have tried re-validating my credit card, which apparently fixed it for some.
I have also tried uninstalling, re-downloading and installing again.
Neither of these steps fixed the problem.

I updated my iPod and it erased everything i had on it.  How do i retrieve the songs that i bought from the iTunes store?  when i try to download/buy them again they tell me i have already purchased them do i want to buy them again?  I have authorized my computer but none of them are in my music now.

You buy one and only one download.
It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
Certainly you did not update your ipod without making sure that you had transferred anything purchased on the ipod to your computer and included it in your regular backup copy of your computer.
