Short story: Can someone tell me if used MacBooks are covered with Apple warranty if it is still within 1-year warranty period?
Long story: Purchased a MacBook on Amazon that was marked as "used" but item arrived absolutely new, factory sealed. Activated it 5th June. Warranty coverrage info on Apple page says it IS coevered with warranty and it complies a warranty rule to have an invoice. Am I right that I have this item covered wtih warranty? Can I activate an Apple Care for this MacBook?

Yes, i did check the coverage on the like stated above and it says that item has warranty coverage for 1 year (till 5th June 2014).
But maybe there's a catch concerning used items or the second owner. I searched the Apple Warranty agreement but didn't find anything concerning "used" or "new" - only that I must have an invoice or receipt.
I have some doubts becvause device condition stated in invoice as "used". (But the device arrived abolutely new - package was still in factory shrink wrap.)
Why all this matters:
I'm going to purchase an Apple Care Protection Plan, but I have doubts that it is eligible for it because item bought was stated as "used" (though it was new in fact)

Power adapters are covered under the same warranty as the MacBook. If it has been two years then you would have needed to purchase AppleCare, otherwise it's out of warranty and will not be replaced.
Buying an aftermarket power adapter is risky because there are many counterfeit ones on the market. They may break prematurely and could even damage your MacBook. Take care of your power adapter and it will last for many years.

The original article that this post referred to has expired but there's still quite a bit of good information in this thread.
The point is that eBay software is a risky purchase with much of it illegally pirated.

I was trying avoid that impression. i buy tons from there. the point i was trying to make is just be careful. same as you would anywhere else! would you consider buying the stereo from a guy out of the trunk of his car when it's parked in front of circuit city or best buy? if so, then you take your chances. why would ANYone consider it? well to save a buck of course. so just because i picked $100 out of the air as an example when maybe it was $50 or $25 doesn't invalidate my example. if she WASN'T trying to get over, she would've bought directly from amazon instead of a 3rd party. the same reason anyone might buy from the guy with the stereos in the trunk instead of walking in the store.
for the record, I believe she has a BIG beef with amazon, especially if she does a lot of business there. I'd talk to them and then escalate to a manager. THAT'S a problem. did you mention that before? if so i missed it. (reading back i see you did say: "she installed and registered it".) I believe adobe should bear some responsibility there if they indeed accepted it as a valid # at one point. if they registered it at first they should probably stick by that. i'd escalate with adobe in that case.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

You should report the seller to the local authorities and to eBay. Of course, when you report it to the local authorities, they will probably also hold the stolen property as evidence... You can provide the police report number to eBay in your filing with them.

I wouldn't fool around with Applecare from eBay. (I saved a lot of money buying it from eBay, and it worked out. But it isn't worth the anxiety.) Doesn't look like much of a saving from the list price right now and it might be risky. AFAIK, iMac Applecare is all the same. Apple may be tightening up on eBay Applecare.

sorry for being a little naive, fairly new to all this, I'm looking at buying the ilife package, primarily for garageband, and there are several up for sale on ebay.
Is buying the discs from there ok? (aside from all the usual issues about buying from ebay of course)
ie. if someone has already installed and used the software on their machine, will it actually still work and install on another machine?

Yes, even if they are being dishonest and selling you the discs they've already used to install it and use it, it will still install on your machine. There is no serialization to any of the iLife apps.

Why on earth did you purchase an American iPhone if you knew you were going to activate and use it in the UK?
If you like in the UK and you want to use the phone in the UK, then buy an iPhone 5 that you can actually use in the UK.
So you need to purchase the phone either through one of the phone companies of your choosing by taking out a contract - so EE (Organge and T-Mobile 4G), Vodafone, 3, or o2 or buy an unlocked iPhone directly from the Apple store itself for full price.
If you buy from e-bay you have no valid warranty if the phone goes wrong, so you won't be able to get the phone fixed in the UK, but you will physically have to go back to the US to get it fixed - iPhone warranty is country specific and NOT worldwide. If you buy the phone in the UK, then you will have an EU warranty.
Return the phone to your seller at e-bay for a full refund and start again and buy and iPhone 5 that is unlocked from the UK and then you will be able to activate it.
Do you have a sim card because you need a sim card to be able to activate a phone and have you connected it to iTunes?
Unfortunately, not all US models of the iPhone 5 have sim card slots or if they do, they are not all unlocked, so if this is the case with your phone, then you won't be able to activate it here in the UK and there is nothing that you can do. You will either have an unusable brick or you will have to return you phone to your ebay seller for a full refund.

But, your warranty/support will only be valid in the US, & the phone will not support LTE where you intend to use it. Make sure you only purchase from Apple, no where else. Only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones in the US, & the T-Mobile labeled iPhone is officially unlocked if putchased from Apple.

Have you tried connecting it to your computer and restoring the iPod via iTunes?
If iTunes does not see the iPod try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring the iPod. For recovery mode see:
