Buying from other iTunes music stores

Does anyone know whether it is possible to buy from iTunes in other countries? I'm located in Australia and can only buy a limited range of the music I like. The UK iTunes store seems much better suited to the stuff that interests me. Is there any legal issues, known problems buying from other stores?
Cheers!

Yes, it's legal issues. Read more here.

  • Will I be able to sync/copy the music I buy from the iTunes Music Store to my Nokia N8?

I am new to the iTunes Music Store, which was recently enabled for my home country. I've set up my account and am ready to buy music. However, before buying any music from the store, I want to be sure that I will be able to sync or copy the tracks or albums between my computer and my Nokia N8. If that's possible, how will I need to sync? Using the Nokia Suite software, which is how I usually sync music? Or using iTunes? Thanks in advance!

Music from the iTunes Store comes as 256kbps AAC. If your Nokia will accept that format, then you can transfer the tracks to your phone via whatever method the Nokia uses (iTunes itself syncs only to Apple devices). If your Nokia does not accept 256kbps AAC, then you can convert the tracks to a format the Nokia can accept. See:

  • IS it possible, to buy from other iTunes stores?(UK, Australia, etc...)

I would LOVE to make some purchases from other iTunes stores, such as UK, Austrailia, etc......but can't seem to figure out how (or IF?) to configure account to work in more than 1 store.....do I, or can I , create multiple accounts all via my iTunes on my PC?

You either need a credit card & Billing address in the same desired country as the iTunes store
or you need to purchase iTunes cards (ebay, Trademe, Amazon) for that country and make a login using a legitamite address within that country

  • Podcast gone from the iTunes Music Store

I am pleading for assistance to get my education podcast relisted in the iTunes Music Store.
Our podcast has be listed in the iTunes Music Store for a while. 24 hours ago our podcast is now gone from the iTunes Store but can be found at this direct link:

The feed is in the valid iTunes format and is a "clean" podcast. Can someone please tell me how to get the podcast relisted?
    Thank you.

Try this - It works for music downloads:
Delete the video from iTunes library and choose move to trash.
Take it out of the trash and put it on the desktop.
Click on it, and it opens iTunes and plays.
Depending on your settings, this should also add it back to your iTunes Folder. Once you're sure it's there, you can delete the copy on your desktop.

  • How to show past bought items from Apple iTunes' Music Store?

Last night, my client bought iPod Touch v2.1 upgrade. He successfully paid, downloaded, and upgraded his iPod Touch.
He'd like to know if Apple has bill/statement to show the item bought with his credit card. He just signed up for an Apple ID and iTunes accounts last night for it. We do not see this information including e-mail. We do see iTunes say the upgrade was bought.
    Thank you in advance.

Have your client confirm that the email address the iTunes Store has for him is correct and that there isn't a spam filter, either on his system or in his email account at his ISP, isn't filtering out messages from Apple. That's often the problem when people aren't receiving receipts and other emails from the iTunes Store.
Will do (check later). If it is was wrong, then how can we have Apple resend it? And he uses EarthLink with the default spam filters.

  • Hello, Can anyone tell me...if I purchase a music album from the iTunes Music Store, can I download these onto an ordinary mp3 Player, or does it have to have the Apple OS system , i.e. the ipod?

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me....am I able to download music purchased from iTunes store onto a non-apple mp3 device, OR NOT?
I am relatively new to Apple , so am fairly new to the system!
    Thanks!

You can, but you will have to create a new version of the songs that you download from the store (they will be in .m4a format from the store which your MP3 player won't support).
After downloading a song, go into iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) and on the General tab click the 'Import Settings' button and on the next screen change the 'import using' to 'MP3 encoder' (or one of the other options if your MP3 player supports it). To create a MP3 version of your downloaded song(s), select/highlight them in the Music part of your iTunes library, control-click, and on the popup select 'create MP3 version' (the 'MP3' will change depending upon what you've selected as the type on 'import settings' options).
Creating a different version of songs : iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format - Apple Support
You should then be able to copy the music to your MP3 player in the same way as you normally do.

  • Why can I not buy songs from iTunes Music Store?

Earlier this year I moved from the U.S.A. to Sweden... changing my 'Mac.com' account address while doing so.
Last week, I tried to purchase some songs from the iTunes Music Store with my American MasterCard (a debit card) which is listed with my Swedish address at my U.S. bank. As I had never purchased at the iTunes M.Store before I was instructed to 'review my account'... which I did. It had my present Sweden address and my Mastercard listed as method of payment. Upon submitting the form, it was rejected, saying that my MasterCard was 'invalid for Sweden'! So I then go to the Apple-Sweden Store and purchase an iTunes Music Card which I receive in the mail the following day. Now I follow the Apple advice posted for purchasing music by redeeming an iTunes Music Card without listing a credit card (http://www.apple.com/se/support/itunes/store/giftcard/#GCA)... except there is no selection for NONE as indicated in these instructions.... So once again when I submit the form it is rejected, meaning that this time I have already spent money for the iTunes Music Card that is now worthless to me!
Is there another way I can redeem this card without going through that 'review account' window...?
I don't care to set up another account by setting up another e-mail address just to do this... as I want all of the Apple business to go through my Mac.com account as it should be configured to do so!

O.K. Everything seems to be in order now!
I don't know what happened but this is the results....
After attempting to edit change the information on my iTunesMS account at least 7 times, I posted the above question, logged out of iTunes, closed down all my apps and turned off my computer.
A few hours later, I thought I would give it one more try and when I turned on iTunes, went to the Music Store and then 'reviewed' my account... it had my old American address on it with the country listed as Sweden... I just left it alone, as it didn't have my credit card info listed at all... Curiously, I'm clueless about that (though I did send this same complaint to Apple during the first posting... did that have anything to do with it?) When I clicked the continue button (without changing any info) it prompted me that I was finished setting up my iTunes Music Store account and I was immediately able to download some songs....(using the iTunes Music card--- I have not tried my MasterCard!)
So basically, I did nothing except close iTunes, turn off my computer and later rebooted it and opened iTunes! Strange... does that seem like a fix or what?

  • 2nd Gen (Touch Wheel) won't play audio book from iTunes Music Store

    I have a 10GB Touch Wheel iPod (2nd Gen). Software version 1.5.
I recently purchased the unabridged version of The DaVinci Code from the iTunes Music Store. The 7-part audio book plays just fine on my iBook and on my daughters' Nanos but it does not play on my older iPod.
What happens when I choose the first part on my older iPod is that you can see it cycle through parts 1-7 without playing anything and then returns to the main menu.
I don't have problems with other music or previously purchased audio books.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

I figured it out on my own... somehow my device got switched to "shuffle" mode. I have no idea how that happened, but there you go. Since I never use it in that mode, it never occurred to me to check that. Sigh. I switched it back to 'play in order' mode and now it is just fine.

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • TV Shows from iTunes Music Store will not sync with my iPod

I have a video iPod (5th Generation). I just downloaded some videos from the iTunes music store and they will not sync with the iPod. I get the message "...some videos cannot be played on this iPod."
The error log says that the videos are not in a supported video format. How can that be? I purchased these from the music store.

  • Editing songs from iTUnes Music Store

Does anyone know why some MPEG4 protected AAC audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store are editable while others aren't?
Since they are in the same format they should behave in the same way, I should think.
    Thanks in advance.
    jesslondon

The only protected iTMS purchases that I cannot edit part of the id3 tag is on the TV Shows. Other wise I can edit the tag as I chose. As to why one cannot edit the tag on certain parts I have not idea. I would imagiine that in some cases it is due to DRM.
Not much of an answer. What part of the tag can you not edit? What kind of file is it?

  • ITunes Music Store Access

Is anyone using ARD to push prefs to control access to ITMS?
Do you have any advice to share?
    Thanks,
    b.

    Hi Dave,
Thanks again for the info. I just came to implement it.
I should have mentioned... I'm in a shared-desktop environment, using WorkGroup Manager to control access and settings.
On my admin machine I set and locked itms access. I added ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes and /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.secure to WGM.
This has pevented the users from accessing iTunes music store, but they can change the iTunes preferences to allow access. I guess it's because of the user ID in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.secure.
So, do you know how I can get the correct user value in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.secure for each user? is there an 'everybody' value I can use? And am I right to think I do need to push this file out with ARD, rather than adding it to WGM?
    Many thanks,
    b.

  • Ipod will not play itunes music store purchased music

I know this topic has been discussed here before, but i still have yet to find a valid answer, so i figured i'd start another thread to see if anyone has found a solution yet. sorry for the repeat subject.
I have a 30GB ipod (with the 4 buttons above the scroll wheel) which suddenly will not play music which has been purchased from the itunes music store. everything which was imported from CDs plays fine. the songs in question play fine through itunes - both from my library on my G5, as well as from the ipod, so it does not seem to be an authorization problem. i've reset the ipod numerous times, trashed itunes preferences, updated to the latest version of itunes, and updated the ipod itself to the latest software version... all to no avail. when i select an itunes purchased album on the ipod, it simply cycles through, song by song, without playing anything.
I haven't restored the ipod to the factory settings yet, as i would like to avoid doing so because i will loose some music which i previously only had on a now dead ibook (faulty logic board). besides, i know from reading old posts, other people with the same problem have tried this as well, to no avail.
can anyone offer any other help/advice on how to remedy this problem? thanks in advance.

It appears that some songs in the iTunes store that were added to the store since the end of November will not play on 1st generation shuffles. They transfer to the shuffle fine but will not play. These same songs transfer to other iPods and play just fine. Many people are having these problems (see the Apple discussion boards). The only known solution is to burn the tracks to a cd and re-import them into your library (a royal pain in the butt). And, yes, I have tried all of Apple's recommendations and even went through troubleshooting with tech support over the phone. I was told they'd call me in a few days after speaking with their engineers but never heard back from them.
PLEASE contact apple either by the following link:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/ipod/
OR by calling the support number:
    1-800-275-2273
Hopefully, with enough complaints, Apple will be forced to correct the problem. It seems to me (and quite a few other people) that something changed on the encryption/the way they are encoding new music in the store that has made the music incompatible with our shuffles.

  • Certain iTunes Music Store songs cause iPod Shuffle to crash

Are people still having problems with certain songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store causing their iPod Shuffle to crash? I am!
The following threads deal with it, but they are now closed to posts:

The 3 songs I am having problems with are off Enya's Amarantine album (12 songs+3 videos):
    Long Long Journey
    Someone Said Goodbye
    Water Shows the Hidden Heart
(these 3 songs are not the videos on the album)
Is anybody else having problems with these songs, or others? iTunes Music Store support have not been able to resolve this issue for me yet.

Okay, I returned one of the shuffles, the one they sent as a replacement, and kept the original. I was told that they particular person I spoke with was not able to completely refund my money for the original shuffle. Perhaps if I had taken this farther, I would have gotten a full refund since there is obviously a defect with the product in the current state. I settled on keeping the shuffle, hoping that there might be a software update in the future to fix the problem, in addition to accepting a RAM upgrade to my Mac Mini for my trouble. I am satisfield but I think there is a bigger problem here thet needs to be addressed or Apple might find themselves with another unattractive class action lawsuit. It seems obvious that the shuffle is sensitive to the way certain songs are encoded that does not pose a problem for other iPods. This makes sense since the shuffle isn't even capable of playing the same abundance of codecs that the other iPods can play. I think the decoder used in the Shuffle or the software used has a problem that needs to be addressed.
I did take the three problem songs from the Enya album and burned them to CD and then ripped them back with the word "copy" at the end so they would not conflict with the original purchased songs. It worked perfectly! I'll keep any originals around to test as software updates become available in the future and if the problem gets fixed, I can just dump the ripped copies.
Hope you all work your problems out to your satisfaction, they were quite friendly about the whole thing.
