Buying from the App Store--how many machines can I install it on?

When I buy Mountain Lion from the app store, am I permitted to install it on my wife's machines as well as mine? My children's?

Yes on all computers you own using the same Apple ID of the original purchase.
Make sure your household computers meet these hardware requirements.
Back up each Mac user home directory. The home directories will not be touched during an Upgrade, but it is good diligence anyway.
You can re-download the Mountain Lion updater to each Mac by using the Option key in the App Store Purchases section. The last thing the updater does on completion, is remove itself from the computer.
Make sure that any applications you presently use have been upgraded to work with Mountain Lion. PowerPC applications will no longer work. Some Applications may need to be reinstalled.

  • HT1338 buying from the App store

I am trying to buy from the App Store (pages to be more specific) using the money I have in my account but I am only able to buy using my visa information.
How do I use the money in my account instead?

With a balance over $100, even with fees and taxes, your VISA account should not be charged.
Try selecting None in the Edit Payment window so the App Store is forced to deduct the total from the balance.
Click Account on the right side of the App Store window. Enter your Apple ID and password then click View Account  (you may be prompted for your password one more time)
Then click Edit to the right of Payment Type and select None then click Done bottom right corner of the App Store window.
    Then try purchasing Pages.

  • How many machines can I install the $79.99 version on?

How many machines can I install the $79.99 version on?

If this is a personal purchase, not for a business, then the terms of sale for the Mac App Store state that you may install any software on all computers you "own or control". If it's for a business for installation on multiple computers that are each used by a different user, then basically the terms are one installation per purchase. Here is the official statement:
If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download a Mac App Store Product for use by either (a) a single individual on each of the Mac Computer(s) used by that individual that you own or control or (b) multiple individuals on a single shared Mac Computer that you own or control. For example, a single employee may use a Mac App Store Product on both the employee’s desktop Mac Computer and laptop Mac Computer, or multiple students may serially use a Mac App Store Product on a single Mac Computer located at a resource center or library. For the sake of clarity, each Mac Computer used serially by multiple users requires a separate license.

  • HT4480 I have redemption codes for FCP from my university - how many machines can I install on?

I have redemption codes for FCP from my university - how many machines can I install on?

Do you have these codes because this will be your app? Or is this a "loan" from the school to install on your machine? Do you use your own Apple ID to redeem the code and install the app?
If it is your app, then you may install it on as many Macs as you own or have in your control.

I'm buying a new MAC.  How many machines can you associate with one CS Cloud account?

You can install the software on as many computers as you like.
However you can only activate the software and use it on a maximum of two computers at any one time.

If it's a white disk with 10.6.3, technically as many Mac's that came with 10.6.3 or below that can run 10.6.
    Legally, only one.
If it's a grey disk, then only the same model of Mac, as there are no hardware drivers for other Mac models on the grey disks.

  • How do I re-download aperture if I didn't buy from the app store?

I bought Aperture a long while back (I think as AP2), and then upgraded to 3.  I've now replaced my HD and need to reinstall it.
Easiest thing I can think of would be to download it from the app store, but I didn't buy it through the app store.  Is there another way to re-install aperture?  Or, alternatively, is there a way to "upgrade" to the app store version, which would be more convenient altogether?
    Thanks! -a.

    Boo  :-(
I mean, I still have the old hard drive... I guess I could just copy the application over, but there's probably a bunch of support files I don't want to track down by hand.
Or, maybe I can download the Aperture 3 trial from Apple and try entering my serial into that?  I might give that a shot.
    Thanks for the help,
    - a.

  • I have 1 iMac, two users (myself and my wife), 2 different Apple ID's, and I want to buy Pages from the App Store so we both can use. Is this possible without having to buy it twice?

I am wanting to purchase the Pages app from the App Store. I do not want to purchase it 2 times, once for me, and again for my wife. We both share the same iMac, and we both use seperate Apple ID's. Is there a way to purchase it under my user, and have it download to her user as well? I have searched all over the forums for a cut and dry answer to this, to no avail. Any help in the matter would be appreciated, as I am a newbie on the Mac.

No. You need to buy it for your Apple ID and for the other. You will have problems with updates

  • Can't download or buy from the App Store

Whenever I try to download or buy something from the App Store it tells me to give the 3 security questions and I click ok than a pop up appears to write my password but it keeps popping every time I write although its correct so I can't buy or download anything from the App Store , plzzzz help

I have figured out already. Firstly please try:
    1) Installing iBooks on your iPad via iTunes on PC/MAC
    2) Adjust the time of your iPad to 6 months ahead (e.g. 2013 May)
    3) Close all apps currently running, clear Safari cache and history, sign out of Apple ID (Settings>iTunes & App Stores), reboot your device
    4) Open iBooks on your iPad, download any 1 book
    5) System should prompt you to enter 3 security questions
    6) Enter your answer and click "Done" at bottom right part of your input keyboard (Do not press upper right button)
    7) Done!
I cannot imagine the system has gone so stupid. Apple, please retify the problem ASAP.

I downloaded the mountain lion from the app store and it downloaded. When i installed the mountain lion it said that the hd disk is broken and cannot be repaired, and the other disk doesnt have enough space! HELP and i cannot return to my desktop with the old sofware so i cant use my computer normaly

This error means that your hard drive is badly corrupt and cannot be repaired by Disk Utility. Since you say you don't have backups, this is very bad news. You may already have lost data irrevocably.
First order of business needs to be backing up whatever you can, but this may be difficult to do if the machine won't start up any more. See step 1 of the following post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21614450#21614450
Once you have backed up your data, you can address the other issues.

  • I bought the Creative Cloud, how many times can I install it?

After purchasing the Creative Cloud package, up to how many computers can I install the software?

You have two activations with your membership. If you install on a third machine and activate you will be shown a dialog asking you to deactivate one or both of the other two computers.
From the Creative Cloud FAQ here http://www.adobe.com/en/products/creativecloud/faq.html:
On how many computers can I install the software I download from Creative Cloud?
You can install the desktop applications available in Creative Cloud on your primary computer and one backup computer, as long as they are not running at the same time. You will have access to both the Mac OS and Windows versions, so if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, for instance, you can install your applications on both. See the product license agreements page for more information.
