Buying games with itunes card

i bought a $15 itunes card and bought 2 games, and loaded them on my ipod with no problem. i then tried to buy a 3rd game with the remaining balance(the games are all $4.99-remember!) and it wouldn't allow me to, saying i didn't have enough of a balance left!!! do they charge tax? was anyone else charged more than the $4.99? if so, i think that's criminal - pricing the games and cards in such a way that we can never come out even - they would always come out ahead, thereby making more of a profit. right now i am stuck at just under $5 short. you might as well say i actually paid $7.50 each for my 2 games. i'm sure not buying another card to raise my balance to cover the 3rd game, and be stuck again. it'll never even out! don't get me wrong - i love my ipod - the music, podcasts, games, movies and tv shows on it -it's amazing. it's just that between the ipod, charger, leather case. etc., it doesn't seem fair to get stuck paying for games like this. they have enough of my money already. has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, iTunes store charges tax.
If you enter a credit card, it'll use the gift card abd charge the balance (should only be ~20-30 cents) to the credit card.
After you purchase it, you can remove the Credit card.
Select View account at iTunes login and select None for CC info.
