I want to buy a mac book pro in US, through a friend, for use in India.
What are things I should take care about regarding customs and laws?
Will it work seamlessly or anything is needed to be done? i heard that I may need to get a new charger.
How can i avail student offer, if I can?
Can I avail Apple financing?
Will there be an internation warranty?
Can I reach an authorized apple retailer in India, in case of a problem?
How much can I really save? Is it worth doing after all?

Yes you will need a new charger or an adapter to fit your power socket.

No. You need to show where you are studying. They are not going to accept it if it's in another country.

You don't reside in America, so no finance company is going to give you a loan from America. You will need to organise finance in India.

Don't forget to add sales tax to the American price. You will need to work out & decide if this is worth it or not.

Hey all, I have been seriouly thinking of buying Mac Book Pro 2010 model (one with Nvidia GPU in it) I almost bought one few months back, but I couldn't get monthly payment option in Bestbuy.. And I ened up buy Asus laptop lol. As my old desktop cpu was getting old. Anywho.. I use to use Mac long ago in Highschool and they have come a long way since system 7.
I have always wanted a Mac, Tired of mircsoft Bs and all virus/spyware and other crap. Just couldn't afford one.
But hopefully that will be soon.
I have been checking on-line and reading the reviews of the new Mac Book Pro 2011 models. I also notice they are now using ATI/Amd video GPU in then. Most people are not liking them, Being that I am gamer, I do want decent laptop with atlest half decent video card. I have read a lot reviews on older Mac book pro's wih Nvida gpu. I myself like Nvidia over Ati.
Anywho i hope I can still get one before they are gone. My Question is...
I love new i7 Cpu in my Asus has 8 cores in it.. Runs at 1.73 ghz & Boost upto 2.9 Ghz.. (intel core i7 740QM cpu )
I'd love get that same Cpu in Mac book Pro with decent Nvida gpu...
Can I still order or buy Macbook pro with Intel i7 cpu and still have Nvidia Gpu. Even though most Mac stores/ other computer stores that sell Mac have 2011 version with Crapy Ati Cards in then?

Actaully No...They aren't as good or as fast as Nvidia 330M Gpu..

had 2 cores for i5 and i7..
Check your stats for yourself... the new Ati is also only 64 Bit memory..
Thats going create alot bottlenecks and lag..
If I want to play say.. Portal 2, or Starcraft 2. I'm sure it would lag on ATI card..

Try the advice here. I had the same problem and it worked for me.
You have to delete the "SC Info" folder from /Users/Shared. You will have to use Terminal to enable you to see this folder first. Make sure iTunes is not running when you delete the "SC Info" folder
There is an article from Apple on this here. The "SC Info" folder contains iTunes authorization information.
I did this two weeks ago and iTunes accepted by login. I haven't been asked for my AppleID or password since.

Change your OS X account name and home directory name - Apple Support
As they recommend and as always when you're messing with administrator accounts back everything up first.

I can see my folders by clicking the X next to my name on the Inbox Folder. So I have my folders now, just cannot see them in the left colum or see multiple windows on Outlook. At this point, I can use the folders, just with limited functionality. Thanks -Gina

Call the store on the telephne and ask. However, I doubt it since a store would not normally have an item with non-USA features

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. I am looking to upgrade my white iBook to a mac book pro, it will be used for photo editing up of som 50k photos or more for the family. iPhoto stoked on external HD

What type of mac book pro should I look at with 8 or 16gb ram?.

8 GB RAM will be sufficient for photo editing. The 15" display would be superior in both size and resolution when compared to the 13". The best approach is to test both in an Apple store.

I want to by a new Mac Book pro with Yosemite, but I still use Creative Suite CS6 and I don´t want to update it to CC. So it is very important for me to know if CS6 is working on Yoemite. I rode that After Effects and Photoshop are fine, but what is with Indesign CS6, Illutrator CS6 and all the other Programms. Please let me know if it is possible?

CS6 apps are supported on Yosemite, but if you buy a retina display model you will not be happy with some of the apps such as InDesign which are not optimized for that display.

I am a hypnotherapist and singer-songwriter who purchased Pro Tools and took a brief class, but I'm not an engineer and it is over my head. I am looking at purchasing a Mac Book Pro or Air to dumb down to a Garageband app in order to keep production moving while I learn Pro Tools.
Can anyone recommend which laptop to get? I now have a Dell Studio XPS with Pro Tools on it. Just need to keep my clients happy,and I make recordings that are 30 minutes to an hour long for them, then burn CD's and/or make mp3s that I email to them.

BTW (speaking as a Dad of 3 daughters in Grad school) if you don't already have and use a DropBox account, or some other similar online "cloud" based backup of your school documents, you should start doing so immediately. By keeping all of your important documents in the Dropbox folder on your computer, you have instant access to them from any other computer (or iPad), should you be w/o your computer while in for repairs (or if, God forbid, it is stolen). It's free for 2 GB of online storage, which is more than enough for a few years worth of Word documents, etc. (If you get other people to sign up via your email "invitation", then Dropbox gives you even more free storage space.) Every time you close a document, it is updated on the Dropbox servers (encrypted), if it is in the Dropbox folder (assuming you give it a few seconds to update before turning off your computer). Do a google search of "Cloud based storage comparisons" to compare the amount of free space each of the competing services give you.
