Buying phone from friend affect my upgrade status

If i buy a phone from my friend will i have to wait another year before i can update again?  Buying this new phone from her would make me have to switch to a data plan but i think that's it.  Please help

If a phone is flagged as lost or stolen, I believe that only the owner calling in and reporting that they have retrieved the phone can remove the flag.  If the ESN is blocked because money is still owed on the account, the owner paying up would remove the issue.  You can always check an ESN with Verizon by calling their CS, and you should do this before you pay for ANY used phone.

  • Upgrading without buying phone from verizon?

    I currently have a standard phone and plan, and i have a smart phone that i want to upgrade to. I already have the smartphone. I want to simply add data to my plan without making a new contract or anything like that. Is this possible, to simply upgrade to the next price without making a new contract, or to at least not be locked into the two year contract if i already have the phone i wish to use?     That's awesome that you are thinking of adding a smartphone to your account.  They are fascinating devices and they make your day to day life a bit easier.

  • Question regarding buying phone from Amazonwireless

    Hi, I have two questions regarding amazonwireless.
    I have a nationwide 700 family plan and my phone is eligible for an upgrade now.
    Amazonwireless has a good basic phone ( Samsung) that verizon don't have.  If I buy it from Amazon and extend contract for 2 more years, does this work? Will I be moved to new share all plan or keep my old family plan? Or is there a catch?
    My other question is the AmazonWireless Instant Discount Policy, if another line on my family plan upgrades to iphone in a few month ( when it's eligible for upgrade) and adds data plan ( we currently don't have any data plan), would this violate Amazon's policy since the contract is changed? I attached their policy below for reference.

  • WARNING---​do NOT buy phones from BestBuy

    I attempted to purchase a phone online ans was referred to the customer service line to purchase, it took over an hour to purchase. I spoke with two different people one that took all the order information which I then had to repeat over and over and over to the person who was to place the order. As soon as I was transferred to him I received a call form an 888 number to which I did not answer. After the order was finally completed, I recievd another call form said 888 number, I called the number back and it asked for an 9-digit order number (BestBuy's order number is longer then 9-digits) and said to go to whereismyphone.com(NOT a bestbuy website). Either: 
    BestBuy is sharing customer's information
    BestBuy is still using the wire fly affiliate for phone orders or
    BestBuy's system is being hacked
    No matter which it is, I am not pleased!!!! An hour after receiving  said call form the 888 number I received a txt msg asking for my acct # or last four of my SSN so that my number can be ported over. Funny thing is that all that information was given to BestBuy over the phone several times! I called the number that was in the txt and they claimed to be sprint (the carrier I was getting a phone with) and were asking for the same information but as stated before they would have that information already becuase bestbuy would of provided to them. The guy could not give any proof that he was with sprint and was ignoring half of what i said, he even brought another person on the line to activate a phone and get personal information for a phone I clearly stated I JUST purchased hours ago and that I did not have! Sounds sketchy!!!! I have tried to cancel my order, have called BestBuy and BestBuy Mobile and have been on hold for 40min. and 20 min. I finally spoke with a woman from BestBuy Mobile and she said I would have to decline the package (which I can not do because I live in an dormitory) or return it for a refund...we will see how that goes. She also stated as well as her manager, that they are not affiliated with who ever called and txted me...sounds like there is a leak in BestBuy's system how else did they receive my information? All this just to purchase a phone...ridiculous! I will only being purchasing phones directly from the carrier from now on and I suggest you do the same!

    It's not unheard of that the carrier would need more information to complete a number port from another carrier. They may have needed some information in order to put it through, such as your old account number. This should have been done automatically when you ordered the phone through Best Buy, but sometimes it does need to be done manually.
    As for the rest of your situation, I have no knowledge of those events, but you forgot a fourth possibility: there was no relation between ordering a phone from Best Buy and receiving unsolicited phone calls.

    In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
    So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
    If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

    I can't find anywhere where the upgrade fee is explained fully. I know if I buy my phone from apple, it is a "verizon" phone -- will they charge me the upgrade fee, will verizon charge it when I activate the phone, or does it not apply if I buy it via the apple store?

    If you are buying the phone at full price (or Verizon EDGE), there won't be any upgrade fee.  If you are getting a subsidized phone (2-year contract) there will be an upgrade fee.

Before I actually buy it, I would like to know what the activation process is. Do I just order it, it's delivered, and I call the activation number? Or do I need to do something further. I find it hard to believe that it's that simple.

    I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID.   • Why do I need to re-authorize my iphone after upgrades for songs given to me from friends?  It requires me to put in their password.

    It seems like after every iphone upgrade when I go to sync the phone I get a message stating that their are songs that will be deleted without a new authorization.  These are songs that I have gotten over the years legally from friends.  In order to authorize I need their passwords.  This does not seem to be fair that songs I got 5 years ago I need to supply a password from someone who I may no longer keep in contact with.  And if it is Apple's way to get me to buy the song from the apple store I don't even know what songs they may be; the message may name one or two songs and there may be 12 to authorize from that particular friend.  Is this normal?  Is there something I can do?  Thanks.

    I would think that all she would have to do is cancel her phone from her plan, so I can then activate it on my plan, right?
    If that is correct then I also need to confirm that I'm able to switch my phone number from my Droid X to the new iPhone 4s.
    Also, will doing any of this add to my bill? Will doing any of this add to her bill or than maybe a cancellation fee?

    in order for you to use a phone you buy from her her plan must be paid in full and up to date
    if ther eis any ballance due, then the phone will not be able to be activated
    it should nto change your bill
    if she cancels her line then there will be the etf of @ $375 due plus any usage fees that are owed

    As Leiko27 posted, you can dial #UPG to check your upgrade date. 
    As for trying to verify it via My Verizon online, have you tried to access the page from a different computer? Did it give the same response? Do you have problems accessing any other links/pages on our site?
    If so, please PM me and I would be happy to get some details from you in order to get the online portion working for you.

    It doesn't sound like you "changed" your Apple ID, sounds like you created a new one. Bad idea. All content bought with an Apple ID is forever tied to that ID. The ID that bought the content is the only ID that can update the content. Apple does not merge IDs not does Apple transfer content from one ID to another.
