Buying used ipod touch

are they the same as the new ones?
if your on a wifi spot and u get a map from Google maps do u need 2 stay in that spot to keep the directions?

The used ipods direct from apple are, as far as I know, more or less originals with VERY SLIGHT (if ANY) wear on them. Usually just returns that they can't legally sell as new. I have a "refurbished" one, and to my eyes it came as new and clean as an original one would have.
As for the Google Maps, I haven't tested out completely, but it appears it works on a caching system. So, it will keep the directions for a little while, until other use of the ipod takes the directions out of memory. I think that's how it works. That said, I haven't tried it myself.
Hope that helps,
Tomek

  • Buying used iPod Touch 5th Gen?

    Hello Apple Forum Users,
I've seen A LOT of people purchasing a used iPod Touch 5th Gen and got screwed over because of some security protection and there's no way around it. I've been wanting to upgrade from the 4th Gen, but have been worry about.
    What's the deal?

The deal is called Find My iPhone, it is a lock that permits ONLY the owner of a device to unlock or reset it. If a device gets stolen, this enables the owner to lock or track it.
If a device is legitimately sold, the original owner MUST deactivate Find My iPhone before passing it to the new buyer. You, as the buyer, must ensure that this has been done. Do not buy a device where you have no hope of a refund if you find the lock has not been reset - i.e., don't buy from a stranger off the street, from Craigslist, or any other method where you cannot physically check the device before you buy it, or if you cannot get a refund.

  • Does apple buy used ipod touches?

I was thinking of upgrading to a new iPad, but I have an 32-gig 3rd gen. iTouch that I was thinking of selling. I was wondering if Apple bought used iTouches and gave you credit towards a new purchase? Or should I just sell it on Ebay or Gamestop and use the money to buy the new iPad?

    No.

  • I bought a used ipod touch that had 2200 bad songs.  Unfortunately I decided to try to delete them before I started buying music.  It deleted EVERYTHING.  Help!!  I'm looking at a screen that says itunes and nothing else.

I bought a used ipod touch that had 2200 bad songs.  Unfortunately I decided to delete them before I started purchasing music.  EVERYTHING was deleted.  The screen is blank except for the itunes emblem.  Help!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc.  Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones.  I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great.  And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen.  And cool colors!
    Don't know if this helps . . .

  • Should I buy an iPod touch?

I'm thinking about buying an iPod touch but I'm not sure if this is a good time to do this. Should I wait more for any new announcements or something like that?

It depends on what you want to use the ipod for. I bought a touch to help me manage lists of things to do, my calendar when I am away from my desk and my mobile me account where I use the public folder. I've found the ipod to be very useful for all of these things . . . making my job easier. I've shopped the applications store and found inexpensive applications that I use everyday -- Todo being my favorite find.
I can't seem to figure out the problem with sending / receiving emails. But, overall I am pleased with my purchase.

  • To buy an iPod touch in the USA

    Hi,
I may buy an iPod touch in the USA to use it in France, but I wonder, will I be able to update it in France?(if a new update is available). And by the way, what's about the warranty?
    Thank you very much.

Good day, I know someone who purchased an iPod from the Apple Store in the US while on vacation then they needed to take it in to the Apple Store for warranty support and the Apple store in the UK said that the warranty is still covered even though it was purchased in the US.
They said they only difference between the two models was that due to a law in Europe of the UK the volume limit was restricted and the max volume level was less than what the North American model has for the max volume level. Obviously this isn't that big of a deal so they replaced the iPod for him covered under the warranty.
And yes you will be able to update it using iTunes just fine.
    Hope that helps, Cheers!

  • Updating a used Ipod touch

We bought a used Ipod touch for my son.  I was able to sync it to my iTunes.  We are not able to download any apps.  It says that we don't have the most current software.  When I connect the Ipod to my PC an iTunes - I click on check for updates and it says that there are none.  I've also tried going under Settings, General but there is no software updates located there.  Any ideas??  Thanks!!

    To update
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.

The iOS update us free so I would get the less expensive one.
If you are getting a used one make sure this is done before you purchase it. Otherwise it may still have the Activatin Lock on

  • Using ipod Touch with OS 4.11 (Tiger)

Hi- I'm just wondering if I buy an ipod touch ( was thinking of a refurbished 2nd generation ) will there be any problems connecting to my Mac with OS 4.11 (Tiger)
I haven't updated my OS since I also use Logic Studio + Sibelius and there 've been some problems with
    compatibility.
    Thanks, Seadream

Can you explain ? How do you know ?
The thing is, I actually don't want to be paying an extra regular monthly internet fee for the iphone since I'm mostly at home with direct 'free' access over the mac.
But I occasionally go away on courses, and then I'd like to be able to use certain apps ....... hence my interest in the ipod Touch.
I've bought a refurbished one from the Apple Store - this one, though from the German site since I live in Germany -
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC086?mco=MTM3NTc1Njc
and it says you can use it with 10.4.11 which is what I've got .......... do you think this is bunkum ?

  • Buying a Ipod touch

Hi, i am wanting to buy an ipod touch which one would you reccomend and can you tell me a bit on how they are a like to live with

I have the 32GB iPod Touch and I absolutely love it. I have not experienced any of the bugs that some have written about on these boards. Of course, you should consider a number of things before investing in this incredible device.
First, of course, is price: the family of Touches is very expensive when you consider the limited amount of memory that you get in each model, compared to other iPod models. If you are looking for the most bang for your buck, then look to the iPod Classic because you can get an incredibe amount of storage on those devices and you can still listen to your favorite music and watch vids, etc.on a familiar looking iPod.
Of course, if you want the Touch for its Wi-Fi abilities, please note (as others have said above), you must have access to Wi-Fi connections and/or hot spots where you can get online for free. I must admit, I love the ability to access the internet and my emails from anywhere (provided that I have access to a Wi-Fi connection). If you do not have access to Wi-Fi and/or hot spots, then this may be an impractical investment for you.
Lastly, how much data do you intend to store on your device, being ever mindful that your library of music, pics and videos may expand in the future. For me, the 8 GB and 16 GB Touches were simply impractical because I didn't want to spend all that money on a very cool device if I couldn't store all of my data on it. When the 32GB version came out, I jumped all over it because that fits my needs just fine. The price is pretty steep, but if you can fit it into your budget and the Touch really suits your needs, then I absolutely recommend it.
If you have owned any iPod in the past, the biggest adjustment is getting used to accessing your music without the familiar click wheel. That felt weird for a couple of days, but I quickly adjusted and became accustomed to the Touch's interface. It really, truly is an incredible machine! I wholeheartedly endorse getting one if you can make it work for your needs and your budget.
Read these boards for more input on the iPod Touch and its pros and cons. I found these boards very helpful in making my decision. Good luck!

  • I am planning to buy an Ipod touch here in saudi but the facetime application is unenabled, if i bought here and bring it to other country, can i enabled the facetime?

i am planning to buy an Ipod touch here in saudi but the facetime application is unenabled, if i bought here and bring it to other country (open country), can i enabled the facetime?

The only way you're going to get facetime is if you purchase your device is a country that hasn't banned its use. However, I'm not sure if it'll even work if you do that. As in the program is disabled on the server level....for example I can bring my US device into Saudi but Facetime will not work until I get outside of the country's borders.
Skype is a program that's often mentioned as a work around for that country's ban on Facetime. (I know it exists for iPad, not sure if there's an iPod version)

i buy a ipod touch a week a go and always is hot, that is normal?

When gaming and other heavy use it is normal for the iPod to get quite warm. If you have a concern (since it is hard to determine how worm is too hot via this forum), make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
