Buying Used Nano but know nothing about iPod...Need help!!!
Hello, first off let me say I know nothing about iPods. I want to buy a used one. I was told that iTunes will only recognize 1 iPod. The person I am buying it from tells me that she is unable to sync both her new iPod and old iPod to her itunes. She gets a message stating that only one iPod can be synced to iTunes. I don't want to purchase this from her only to find that it will not sync to my iTunes.
Does iTunes have some sort of security feature that will prevent me from purchasing this from her and syncing it with my iTunes? If so can I reset an iPod back to factory settings?
Please help???
I bought an ipod nano 5th generation used from someone in China. It is not showing up in iTunes, but it does show up on my mac desktop. I believe it was reformatted and is not recognized by iTunes. How can I fix this? Is there a way to restore without using iTunes? How can I reformat?

I just inherited a 64 GB ipad. I have passwords for the deceased person but would like to reset everything and start new. I use a mac/0SX but know nothing about an ipad other than turning it on. I am in the same household as the deceased person but does not seem to be recognizing the wireless setup. Any help would be appreciated. Any recommendations as to where to start.
That's really enough information. You can update this iPad to iOS 6.1.2. If there is a microphone icon next to the space bar on the keyboard, you have an iPad 3. But if you are saying that it hasn't been touched for over a year, it probably is not the iPad 3. The iPad 3 is one year old this week IIRC.
If you want, you can go to Settings >General>About>Model to find the model number and it you Google that, you can find out which version of the iPad it is.
I just wanted to see what iOS you would be able to update to. I'm not sure what else to tell you other than what we've already stated. You should set this up as new, update the iOS and then start all over again with you own iTunes content.
The link that Eric posted would be a good place to start so that you can get an idea of what the iPad can do. If you want to restore the iPad back to factory settings, you will need to do this with iTunes on your Mac. You must be running OS X 10.6.8 at minimum and must be using iTunes 10.6.3 (I think) in order to syn with iTunes on the Mac.
This explains how to restore to factory settings.

if you are that uncomfortable trying to do this on your own, and if there is an Apple Store near you, make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar and ask an Apple tech to help you with it. That is what they do. There is no charge for an Apple Store Genius Bar visit. The stores also offer classes for the iPad that you might find useful as well. -
I forgot my password on my ipad (changed it late in evening). It was backed up to cloud on Friday or Saturday. Important pictures and videos of my daughter were taken Sunday. I've tried to put in password and now its disabled. I was told I need to erase and start over. Will Icould backup again in a few days and they I can delete and start over and reput stuff from Icloud back on ipad once I reset and do new password? I know nothing about computers. Please help
Oh my! Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing. But I do know that my goal was to do both---backup AND free some space. My iMAc is old (2006) and I upgraded it a year or so ago to Snow Leopard. I didn't think I had the capability of backing up without an external drive, but maybe I do since I upgraded. Do I?
But I bought this My Book mostly for freeing space because I like to make cards in Photoshop and I'm forever running out of space when I get too many layers (don't really know what I'm doing there, either).
Is there some way that I can rectify my mistakes and start all over?
Thank you so much for beng so prompt with your reply and patient with mine. I tried for so long to see the dialog box with the library listings. When I launched iPhoto, even with holding down the Option key, it kept immediately launching into the full screen. Finally, after an hour of doing it over and over again, it worked when I held the key down for 5 minutes. Then when I was typing my reply, I kept getting a message to "Request Time Out." Didn't know how to do that, so kept hitting the OK button and kept typing for another half minute. Finally, when ready to send, Safari couldn't do it. "Try again" exasperated me until I realized I would have to begin again and use Firefox. When I got there and ready to type, I got the message that my message had been retrienved and did I want to use it?!!
So your kindness is very much appreciated. -
I am using Suse Linux - am trying to upgrade Firefox to the latest version. I am not a techie so need help step by step. Thanks so much
From http://suseroot.com/terms.php?term=Terminal
To open a terminal, go to the KMenu -> System -> Terminal -> (pick one). The "Super User" terminal lets you operate as root. This is also possible from the others with a "su" command.
Familiarise yourself by using the [http://www.novell.com/documentation/opensuse110/ PDF documentation] when seeking answers, or just use google like I did to find the above. -
Anyone who knows anything about ipods please help!
i have posted a topic, it is labelesd "having ipod trouble", if you can please look it over and give me your best advice on my problem.
thank you soo much
JIf the person is trying to send you DRM video, that won't open on the Mac unless you have a virtualization solution. Also chances are it won't be legal for you to open it on another computer than their own, unless they are willing to transfer the license to you for that video.
If they are sending you a newer type of video than WMP can handle, try Flip4Mac. And if Flip4Mac doesn't work you'll probably need to install Windows on your Mac to play it. Ask them the source they are sending you. -
I know nothing about how to use my new ipod and when reading the little information that came with it, all I can do is turn it on. Then in a few seconds it goes black, never having brought up a screen to do anything! Help! What do I do to get this thing going?
You might consider connecting it to the charger and charging up the battery overnight.

I am trying to copy photos from an iPad to a Mac Air, but iPhoto does not recognize them. Please forgive the ignorance, but we have just started moving to apple products and I know nothing about them. Do you have to use PhotoStream to do this?
How did the photos that you want to copy off get on the iPad ? To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you should be able to use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer. -
when i plug in my ipod to my PC it makes a sound like it doesnt accept it. on the ipod, it says connect to itunes because it was disabled many times. why wont it connect?P.S I know nothing about this kind of stuff
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

I updated firefox recently....last couple weeks...I think to 7...and now I have no sound on my computer...I do recall being told that something was no compatible but...oooops...I must have agreed to do it anyway......obviously I know nothing about computers...help...what do I do now. I have to have sound...this is the pits...
See:
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/No+sound+in+Firefox
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Video+or+audio+does+not+play
You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window, so make sure that Firefox is not muted or set at a low level.<br />
Current Firefox versions use the plugin-container process to run plugins, so you need to check the volume setting for the plugin-container process.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program or the Plugin Container in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.<br /> -
My Mac says I am sharing with a server that I know nothing about. How do I'm stop this sharing.
beacco wrote:
I hope you are correct. When I click on the Macintosh HD icon on my desk top the sidebar section that says shared shows the server I mentioned.
Just as I said.
If i click on that shared device it logs in as a guest unless I cancel that action.
No, it logs your computer into that server as a guest.
I never knowingly ok'ed sharing with another network or computer.
Perhaps not, but the printer is set up (possibly at manufacture) to offer services to computers on its network.
IF I click on the shared device to delete it a message says I cannot do that. Any thoughts?
It the device is still on your network and still offering services, it will be listed as available. If it leaves the network or stops offering services, it should leave the list of available servers.
I suppose it might be handy to have a "hide this server" or "pretend this server doesn't exist" button, but we don't have one. -
I think I effectively proved my point about knowing nothing about this, by posting my whole question in the title. To review, I have a 1 year old iPad, and have Pages on it for a word processing program. I somehow turned on bullets on one of my documents and can't figure out how to stop it, and they are in all the wrong places. How do I turn it off?

If your computer is on one minute before it freezes, than you have one minute to secure your serial number.
click the apple----->click about this Mac ------> click on version----> until you see the serial number. You may have to do this a couple of times if it freezes before you have all the numbers. A camera might help.
Good Luck -
I just bought a Ipad and know nothing about it. I have been charging it for about 2 hours and when I try to turn it on it shows the Itune icon and the plug thats it wont do anything else. Any suggestions on what to do?
iPads are devices and not PCs, so it needs a functioning relationship with a PC to work.
Download iTunes onto your PC, then connect your iPad to that PC. That should get you started. -

i wanted to buy a macbook but im concerned about dead or stuck pixels, now i do music production and a lil bit of photography and i need a really clean display, ive had dead pixels and stuck pixels, in my past monitors and i just dont want to be running up and down trying to find a good macbook with a good display
And, what do you propose we can do to help you? Bad pixels in displays is a manufacturing problem. Testing a display is the only way to assure it doesn't have bad pixels. "Running up and down ... to find a ... good display" is the only solution. It’s not something with which we can help you.
In the future if you have a question or problem, then please post it as such. -
Hi all,
here is my problem, I am working on a demo for a customer, I am business consultant and I know nothing about java and I have noone next to give a hand, so please help.
I integrated a content in a Learning Management System. When launching this content in the LMS, an applet is created. I get a first page where I have to chose an option. When clicking on any of the options, I get nothing. On my java console, I can read this :
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.swing.UIManager.c()Ljava/lang/String;
at com.cbt.jasmine.Jasmine.Jasmine.b([DashoPro-V1.32-013000])
at com.cbt.jasmine.Jasmine.JasmineApplet.run([DashoPro-V1.32-013000])
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
What can I do to make this ******* content work.
Many thanks for your answers.
XToff.First of all, nothing is urgent to us, only to you.
Second, the error is clearly stated being NoSuchMethodError i.e. the program is trying to call a method that hasn't been for some reason included in the program.
Third, I have no idea what Learning Management System is (and I'm not the only one).
Fourth, why did you put "Re: URGENT !!!! I know nothing about java .... ;o)" as the topic instead of "Learning Management System"?

Why when I recently preordered the new $199 I phone was the sales tax estimated at +- $55? It should have been +- $18. The supervisor said the tax was on the $649 value, but that's not right as sales tax is charged on the sales amount. What is this c
