Buying Zen Touch in

I'm going to Orlando, Florida this July, and I heard alot of people are buying MP3 players cheaper out there. i was thinking of getting a 20GB Zen Touch out there. Will there be any compatability issues when I bring it back to the UK?

I didn't even think of customs. And yes, you are exempt if you claim it's a gift. Is it the same product they sell in Europe and the US then?

It's identical, except for the plug. Hence you'll need to use a socket adapter, which are easy enough to find.

  • DO NOT BUY CREATIVE ZEN TOUCH 2

I cannot begin to explain the problems I have had with the Zen Touch that I bought 2 Weeks ago. The long and short of it is the original device that I bought, I could not transfer songs to it. Dowmloading the latest Firmware / Drivers / Application etc made no difference whatsoever. Problems ranging from errors like 'Device is busy or not attached', to copying songs across and them showing on Creative Media Organiser but not showing on the device itself. Also problems with the device freezing and having to wait for the battery to run out before it would work again. After lengthy phone calls to someone on support who could neither speak or understand english, I arranged for another one to be sent to me, in return for the faulty one. And guess what, the new one has exactly the same faults as the original. I have uninstalled the software on numerous occasions thinking that it may be a faulty install. Set it all up on my machine at work, and my friends machine at work, only for the same problems to occur when transferring songs. To top it all, I sent 3 messages to the support link on the creative web site, only to have a response to, yep you guessed it, NONE of them in FOUR DAYS. My advice to anyone who is thinking of buying a Zen Touch, or any other Creative Labs product come to think of it is, is to go out in the back garden and set fire to the money instead. Just incase anyone thinks I am doing something wrong, I work for a software company, and I know that if we sent a product / gave a support service that was as poor as that I have received, I would be out of a job in 5 minutes. I am Going to get my money back and go for an iPod, telling everyone I know to steer well clear of creative. Thanks for listening.

"If the mailer I received from Cambridge Soundworks yesterday (a Creative complany) is any indication, buying a 20GB Zen Touch or even Sleek would be a bad move. It looks like the Sleek is already being relegated to the status of "**bleep** stepchild" in the Zen line-up, which is where Touch has been for a while. The latest ad from Cambridge Soundworks was pushing the Micros, Nanos, Muvos and even Neeons. But no Sleeks."
You comments don't make much sense. The Sleek is a new model and is probably backordered by many dealers. That is probably why Creative is not promoting it heavily on its own. Demand from Creative's retailers is probably more than enough to consume the production for a while.
"But that's not what's interesting. It's what product <B>was</B> prominently featured: The Zen 20GB. This is the player that looks like a fat Zen Micro in a black case, previously available only in Asia. "
That does seem to make sense though, since Creative probably didn't make enough of them for a full retail store roll out in the US, so they probably decided that that selling them directly would be a good move. National retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc. want products to be available in huge quantities otherwise they don't want to sell them.

GunsNRoses, I have looked at the I-ri'ver H340 and its VARRY nice. I would go for it right away.
But the thing that bugs me is they took out most of the functions from the American version (some of the missing functions are: USB host to take pictures from digital cameras, UMM, there?s more but I cant think :P ) also they take most of the accessories out. They did this to make the player cost less and to be a better competitor with the I-pod.
On the other hand (for a bit more $$$) they do have an international version (AKA World version) that has all the functions and just about all the accessories. So if I get one I will get the international one.
But today I emailed their tech support to see what would happen if I sent the international one into the American repair center. They replied that if I sent the international one and it needed to be replaced they would only be able to replace it with an American one. So I am looking into being able to get the warrantee out of US.
The H340 is a .8? hard dri've so its a bit more shock proof which is nice.
The sound quality is vary good but I did not get to compare it to the touch.
They did not have any pictures loaded on it so I did not get to see that side of the player.
I also like that I-ri'ver based the hard dri've format on the FAT format, making the hard dri've plug and play compatible, although this makes the player have a bit longer start up time (the longest time I have head is 40 seconds.)
The interface is a bit hard to use if you don?t know how to, but once you get used to it it'ss EZ.
To be able to record from anything is vary nice.
Having the color screen is cool to.
I have heard rumors about the player having the ability to save song lyrics and allow the user to access them when listening to music, I would find this really good, I don?t know if it will do this.
I have spent a little time on the I-ri'ver forms to see what people say about it. From what I have seen on the I-ri'ver forms most of what people that have a H340 are asking for new firmware and not so much talking about hardware problems.
The I ri'ver is more expensi've than the touch but it has more functions and comes with more accessories.
Here?s a link to a site that sells the H340 if you wont to look into it more. They have some good info on it. : http://www.teamdigital.net/store/customer/product.php?productid=402&cat=203&page=
Another thing about the international player is that it comes with a different wall outlet cable than we use in the US. But I do believe that the USB cradle charges the battery. And you can always go get a power adapter.
    On the Zen touch.
I do like the other Zen models and a touch pad sounds nice. But I need to see it.
I do not like that creative removed EAX from the player?s firmware and hope that creative will add that back with an update.
It is nice to see that creative brought back the LCD wired remote with FM receiver.
From the looks of the case creative supplies with the touch it looks good. Although others have said that its design faulty I think it will work fine.
The touch is not plug and play, which can be annoying but it makes the player start up faster.
The touch is also a .8? hard dri've, which is a bit more shock resistant than the 2,5?(other Zen models.)
I don?t know much more on the touch, but I hope I do soon.
I am still at a loss as which player I will buy, they both look so good. I hope when I can finally see them next to each other and test them I will know.
The I ri'ver is more expensi've than the touch but it has more functions and comes with more accessories.
If you have any questions post them and we can talk about it.

  • The ZEN Touch Fix... Buy an IPOD.

Let?s compare ZEN Touch and Apple IPOD.
? Does IPod have plenty of accessories from third party suppliers like Bose ? YES
? Does Zen Touch have plenty of accessories ?. NO.
? Does the all the Zen Touch features like the ability to use it as an external file share work? NO.
? Does Creative Lie, Lie, Lie and ignore their faithful customers? YES
? Do the Zen Touch owners have a clue as to when their firmware upgrade announced last October will be out? NO
This looks good for Apple and IPod.
Not to good for Creative. This is what happens when you are successful. You screw faithful customers.
Guess what. I am no longer a faithful customer and I have been one since their first 8 bit sound blaster card.
Last but not least. Don?t forget DO NOT TO BUY CREATIVE. I will be sure to share this feeling to anyone who will listen. If I see someone buying a Creative product I will let them know their on their own if there is trouble. It?s better to buy a non creative product?..
    Ticked off Zen Touch owner.

Be patient. You shouldn't hold Creative to statements released by CNET. Even if Creative itself announced anticipating the release of new firmware by a certain date, it is a goal, not a firm promise. One should always buy a product for its current capabilities, not what it might do in the future.
With all due respect, a lot of people say the same thing as you said (I do when talking about motherboard and CPU tech with people who want to know what to buy), but they aren't seeing the "big picture." Promises of features to come should ALWAYS be treated with skepticism, especially if you hear rumor or speculation about missed release dates for things such as firmware updates. However, the truth of the matter is that a pattern of events such as announcing an anticipated date of release, failing to make it happen on said date, and no update put forth by any form of pr, are potential indicators of problems within the company. Just how extensi've those problems are cannot be determined until more concrete proof is established, but the fact that such indicators are noticeable should serve as a warning sign to buyers (new and returning alike).
Creative must be very careful in this area as the DAP/MP3 player market has the potential to reach a far, far wider and varied range of customers, many of whom have never bought a Creative product of any kind in the past. Too many problems, and it could become a spotlight casting a negati've light on Creative's entire collection of products, whether or not they are experiencing the same sort of product release and support problems as the Zen / MuVo lines have.

  • Should I buy the Zen Micro or the Zen Touch Playe

I am trying to decide whether to buy the Zen Micro or the Zen Touch. They are roughly the same price. I do not think I need 20GB, but I <EM>hate </EM>to constrain myself.
On the other hand, the Zen Micro appears to offer a few extra features like FM radio, replaceable battery, voice recording and advanced song handling (DJ, for example). The Zen Touch seems to have just the most basic functions.
So what do I do, get a gigantic player with minimal functionality (less than an iPod or Nomad) or a smaller player with more functionality (I am unlikely to use voice and FM recording, and use the FM radio minimally)?
It just seems like the overall Micro firmware is more robust than the Touch firmware, but I'm not sure the tradeoff is worth it.
    What are your thoughts?

I have a Zen Touch. I do not have an enormous music collection, but have maybe 50 or 60 albums on the player. This is something like 6 or 7 GB. It is WAY too much for me (even this much music). I do not need even that many songs on it at once. With support via WMP0 to synchronize, you could just synch up your favorites every time, switch them around, eventually synch up Napter 2 Go stuff and still have a ton on a 5 GB player. Features on the Micro that sound flashy but I would NEVER use are the calendar, contact thing. I have this on my phone, too, and don't use it. I have a PDA--I DO use that. An MP3 player is a pitiful substitute for a PDA (and a PDA is a lousy MP3 player). I would use the Audible Audio support in the Micro. Touch does not have this. I am a huge Audible fan. I had seriously looked at a Rio Carbon, but now that the Micro is out, that would be the player I would buy if I had it to do over again. They do need to develope a way to charge your extra battery for the Micro. The ability to swap batteries is pretty stupid the way it is now--you can only charge it in the player. They need a charger for the spare. Just my opinion, but I think some people get carried away with hard dri've potential. I can't forsee EVER wanting to carry that much music around with me, especially when it will be so easy to change what is on the player once full support for WMP0 comes out. I am just not away from my home computer library for that length of time that I would want to carry most of it around with me. I vote for the Micro.

  • Will buy a Zen Touch if.

    Ok, I'm 75% sure that I'll be buying a Zen Touch 40Gb.
The question I have is the following. I currently have an Archos MP3 player which is recognised as an external HDD and I use MusicMatch to manage the MP3 Library and listen to MP3s.
Using the Zen Touch, and considering that I'll install that Nomad Explorer which allows me to see the Zen in "My Computer, will I be able to have my music library in MusicMatch and play MP3s or will I have to use Creative's own software?
If this is possible then I'll be 90% sure that I'll buy the Zen.

Have you consider the H340 and H320 from iRi'ver?
    http://www.iri'veramerica.com/prod/hd/
They are more expensi've but you will get more for your money than with the Touch.
With respect to the library thing no you won't be able to use nomad explorer to access the Touch as a dri've from other Applications. I suggest that before you buy the Touch you download the manual which is in PDF format:
    http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?manualID=848&Product_ID=0274?ionID=& Product_Name=Zen+Touch
This will give you a better idea of what to expect from the player.Message Edited by lsd_us3r on 04-22-2005 0:3 PM

  • A post, Zen Touch Owners might consider and an Open Letter to Creative. L

Creative needs to take some COORPERATE PRIDE as regards one of their products, that until recently was the FLAG SHIP<SPAN> of their hard-dri've based line of D.A.P. s,
By using the Napster-To-Go Subscription Service, I spent the better part of last weekend loading up my Touch 40 GB player with reams of music.<SPAN> At about the 9 GB point on the hard dri've, the seek head would no longer write to the platters and after a time out, stopped with a subsequent TRANSFER ERROR coming up.
    Bummer.
    OK.
I phoned Creative, got an RMA number and shipped it off for a hard-dri've replacement at the least, a totally new unit sent promptly back at the best.
Being bummed out that I probably wouldn?t see a new TOUCH 40 GB returned to me for the most part of two weeks to a month (by some of the reports via this thread), and being that I wanted a FLASH DRIVE so I could use a D.A.P. in places where intelligence dictated that a hard-dri've based player is going to experience hard-dri've shock/abuse (like being on your bicycle, jogging, cross-country skiing, etc?.all forms of outdoor activity) so?being that I did not now have my TOUCH to listen to (I am a music-aholic) I went out on Saturday and purchased an IRIVER T0 GB flash player.
Being this is a Creative board, I won?t go into a RAVE on how good and feature packed this D.A.P. is.<SPAN> Just suffice to say that if you would like a D.A.P. for when being acti've, or as a back-up to the TOUCH 40/20, THIS IS THE PLAYER TO CONSIDER.
Now, amongst features heaped upon features this player has, never mind the FANTASTIC sonic output it puts out in sound fidelity and reams of non-distorted volume (I use a set of BOSE TRI-PORTS that need a setting of 8 on the Zen Touch, but with the Iri'ver T0, I am right now (as I type) listening to Gloria Estefan?s CONGA at a volume setting of 2 out of a possible 30!!!!<SPAN> It is just that good!
Now, what is this post doing on a Creative Forum board?<SPAN>
The answer lays in the next few sentences/thoughts?.
Amongst 2 EQUALIZATION presets, that ALL so differently shape the sound wave (they again, are THAT good, including SRS (WOW) is a CUSTOM EQUALIZATION pad that covers the following frequency ranges:
    50K /200K/ K/ 3K/ 4K/ (adjustable from ?0/+0
It was in using this EQUALIZATION PAD, that is was so totally demonstrated to myself how truly abused we are as Creative Ltd.<SPAN> Customers having all of us, purchased a Zen Touch D.A.P. from this company.<SPAN> I paid $300.00 dollars for my Zen Touch 40 GB and it was deli'vered to me straight out of the package with a DEFECTIVE<SPAN> Custom Equalization feature, that is made defecti've by inferiorly produced Creative code in their Zen Touch Firmware, the very ?heart? of the product, driving and deli'vering all the features(?) on the Zen TOUCH 20/40 GB.
It is one thing to release defecti've code, if the defect was not caught by (hopefully) Creative upon the launch of the product, but with ENOUGH paying customers having made this defect well known and so WELL DOCUMENTED back to Creative Ltd. and in the many MONTHS since the defect was found in the FIRMWARE that dri'ves the TOUCH, and yet, and UNBELIEVABLY so, the defect yet remains (if in fact now even more profound!) in their latest version of the Zen TOUCH firmware!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, who are now reading this post, ------by having had the extreme PLEASURE in owning a D.A.P. (newly acquired Iri'ver T0) with all features advertised upon the package ***WORKING***, right out of that package, let alone with such amazing performance deli'very, I now declare that I will wait a reasonable (not months any more, BUT ONLY A FEW WEEKS FROM THIS POST DATE) <SPAN> period of time to elapse before I see a FIRMWARE release and/or patch from this company, Creative Ltd., to ***FINALLY*** address this broken Custom Equalization feature ?offered? within the Zen Touch firmware.
Now in having custom set the ranges of frequencies in the Iri'ver T0 to JUST how I like my music----I have to tell you Folks----IT DOES make a TREMENDOUS difference to the sound and your PERSONAL expectations of it!
A Custom Equalization feature is THAT important to have on a sonic device, let alone a fully WORKING ONE, bug free!
    To Creative:----a personal comment:
<SPAN> I have been a loyal customer of yours from the mid 90?s by having purchased EXCLUSIVELY from you, my sound cards, as well as your line of VIDEO CARDS.<SPAN> I have been a most faithful repeat customer having never seen to date your company so delaying/ignoring the defecti've broken issues from one of your FLAG SHIP sonic products.
I spent<SPAN> $79.00<SPAN> (far below the asking price of your Zen Touch product line)<SPAN> last Saturday on an Iri'ver T0 GB flash player that (with obvious pride of manufacture from Iri'ver Ltd.) works as advertised, works with the present FIRMWARE installed in the device at the TIME OF PURCHASE and PRODUCT RELEASE, and has earned my respect in putting out such a feature-rich product and with obviously, such Cooperate Pride.
Creative Ltd, if you do not put human resources immediately on releasing a patch that brings the Zen Touch FIRMWARE to a bug-free condition that it should have been when having been released with the product launch, I will consider no longer you as the stalwart CREATIVE company of old, that once DID HAVE SUCH COOPERATE PRIDE in any and all models of hardware they produced or sent out with their name upon it.
I will no longer purchase from your company, fearing that as I hold the product in my hands at the store, the features that I am there to purchase will NOT be deli'vered ?out of the box? due to inferior workmanship in materials, in SOFTWARE CODING, and a lack of Quality Control that dictates nothing leaves the plant until the Chief Technology Officer and his staff can sign off on that product?s quality and being fit for release to the Consumer and potential Customer.
I hope that the Moderator of this forum sends this post to whomever it will have cause to see the crippled firmware inside the Touch finally be brought up to quality standards that was the mandate of the Creative Ltd. of past years.
If this post has to reach the desk of the C.E.O of CREATIVE Ltd., then let it be sent there!
Creative Ltd, you are losing Customers hand-over-fist that won?t bother to sit down and type out/compose this letter/post, but will merely resolve to NEVER AGAIN look at, let alone buy one of your present, or future products.<SPAN> Nobody likes to have a ?broken and crippled? product---RIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGE!<SPAN> Nobody should have to experience that when hard-earned money is being exchanged for it!

I wrote the following e-mail to Creative Support today. If they can't respond to a polite, reasoned e-mail like this then I will never buy another Creative product again!
I will post again when Creative respond to me, with a bit (well, more than a bit, more like a billion tonnes) of luck they will be able to say whether they even PLAN to fix the Custom EQ problem.
    All the best, everyone.
    <E-mail>
    Dear Support,
I recently (0-Nov-05) purchased a Creative Zen Touch 40GB mp3 player, and I am generally very happy with it. The battery life is great, and I was happy with the quality of design and build compared to the (relati'vely) affordable purchase price.
However, my query/complaint concerns the new firmware release for the Zen Touch, version 2.0.05 (MTP support for Zen Touch). I have uploaded the new firmware to my Zen Touch (and also the relevant updates for the Creative software: Media Organiser, Zen Touch Explorer etc), and have experienced no problems in loading this new firmware to my player or my computer.
Generally, I have no problems with the performance of the new firmware: my files transfer easily and quickly between my mp3 player and my computer, and (using Windows XP SP2, and WMPv0) I have experience no compatibility issues, as one would hope.
However, I do take issue with the Custom EQ bug that the new firmware accentuates on the Zen Touch. I am sure that Support has doubtless been contacted by other people regarding this problem, but to summarise, with version 2.0.05 of the firmware installed, usage of the Custom EQ function on the Zen Touch severely impaires the volume of the player, and consequently the enjoyment of myself, the customer.
I would like to ask Support whether Creative plans a 'fix' firmware update to eliminate this bug in the firmware in the near future? I am not concerned with any new features to the player with a future firware 'fix' release (although they would not be unwelcome!), since Creative did not promise any such features in the first place. However, I feel that since Creative advertised the Zen Touch as having a customisable graphic equaliser - from Creative's own press release: "Supporting both WMA and MP3 formats, the Zen Touch deli'vers crystal-clear audio, thanks to a signal to noise ratio of 98dB, which can be customised using the built-in, four-band graphic equalizer with eight equalization presets." - a firmware update should not render an advertised feature of the product effecti'vely useless.
Please could Support acknowledge the disappointment I feel with this fairly fundamental flaw to an official product upgrade, and provide assurances (or take measures to seek assurances from whoever makes decisions upon such issues) that a firmware 'fix' update will be released in the near future?
I end by saying that I have only ever bought Creative mp3 players, and to date I have been happy with the products I have purchased, but if basic product flaws such as the Custom EQ being 'broken' by official firmware updates are allowed to go unaddressed (especially with the fact that this has doubtless come to Creative's attention through Support/the official discussion forums etc) then Creative may lose customers like myself in the future to rival companies.
Thanks for your time, and I await your reply.
    Kind regards,
    Lawrie Ward

  • Several questions - new to Creative Zen Touch - please help (ripping/accessori

Hi, I just ordered my new Zen Touch 20gb online last night with a set of Sony earbuds (MDR-EX5LP). I'm pretty excited, get it this Friday.
I just had a few questions in advance:
    A) Which programs are best for ripping, allow you to adjust the quality of the songs, and won't cause problems when burnt cds are ripped (saw a thread earlier that complained of bad quality when burnt cds were ripped to MP3 that worried me)?
    B) What different types of cables/accessories would you recommend for wiring the Creative up to a stereo? On CNet.com and various other sites, they talk about how the Creative sounds great through speakers, and I'm really excited to hook that up, but I don't know A) Which cable to buy that will work well with the Creative/have good sound quality, B) Where to plug it in - headphone jack? (no analog Line Out, right?)
    C) Has anyone had any experience with the remote? Is it pretty durable? I'm not going to plop down 50 plus shipping and handling, wait 2-3 weeks for the backorder, only to have it fall to bits in a few weeks.
Thanks SO much! I appreciate any and all help. I'm new to Creative/Mp3 players as a whole, so forgive any ignorance/mistakes.

I have used WMP0 exclusi'vely for ripping CDs. I rip WMAs at 28kbps, though you may want to go up to 92kbps if you can hear the difference (some people recommed ripping a song at both and deciding which is best). I sync all my CDs with WMP0 too, and have had no issues. One thing to caution you is to make sure your ID3 tags are correct before you sync up. What I mean by this is to make sure the album name, track titles, and artist names are to your liking. 90% it is not an issue, but sometimes, the titles have extra characters you may not wish to have. If you have more than one artist listed on a track, only the first one is loaded. So if you have, say: "EmmyLou Harris; Buddy Miller", the track is stored under artist Emmylou Harris only.</LI>
Belkin sells this Dell DJ base that the ZT will fit into (there is another thread on that here). That seems like a nice option. You do go out of your headphone jack. Any chord that has the headphone jack on one end, and stereo RCA (red, white) jacks on the other end will do.</LI>
See other threads about the FM remote. I read some concerns about their durability, but read for yourself and decide.</LI>

  • Creative Zen Touch Vs. Mi

I am looking for a new mp3 player to buy, and would like to get a creative one but I am having a few problems, hoping some of you could help me.
On the tocuh version (20gig) is there ANY way that you could make it so you can use it as an external dri've (so you don't have to install the software)? Then, once the battery dies (not discharges but I mean dies) what do you do? On the Ipod you could hack it and put another one in for a much cheaper price than apple offers, but what do you do with the zen touch?
And for the Zen Micro is there a way where you can use it with plain windows explorer (drag and drop).
For someone that has tried both, which would you recommend?
Thank you all for your comments.

Note the headphone jack fiasco has not been confirmed (read below). There is only speculation and hope that someone at Creative has worked out how to turn on the soldering iron.
As for the battery fiasco, Creative have 'officially' said that they intend to release updated firmware this month that should reduce 'sleep/standby mode' from 24 hours to 4. Fingers crossed!
    DreL wrote:
how do u tell if u have the fixed batch of zen micros?
[b]Based on information within this forum, the last known hardware revisions has been November 2004. And this revisions was not to the headphone jack, but to the faceplate.</B>
To date, no one can officially confirm if the headphone jack on newer players has been revised. There have been Creative (Phone) Technical Support implying changes have been made to the jack, however this has been verified by a forum moderator to be false. There are however, "ongoing hardware revisions" which you can interpret how you like, but don't appear to impact the headphone jack design/manufacture.
Right now, if you believe the estimated numbers, only a minority of owners are affected. Alternati'vely, those who have opened the Zen Micro will concur the headphone jack is extremely vulnerable due to it's weak connection to the circuit board (which consist of 3 "glued" points). It is only time before this is a growing problem due to the poor design described.
Do you buy a Zen Micro and take the risk or wait until the issue is resolved? The answer really depends on how good you are with a solder gun...

  • The Creative Zen Touch Movement: Active Creative Us

Who out there wants a skin for their Creative Zen Touch? Who is tired of the monopoly that Vaja cases has and forces you to buy their horrific case for 70 Big Ones? Who is tired of the Creative Case that is included and is extremely bulky and doesnt even have a screen to see what you are doing? Are you not tired of having to take the Zen Touch of the cases everytime you want to do something? Are you tired of users that have Iri'ver and Apple's Ipod having infinite accessory choices while you are limited to 2 case choices? If your answers to these questions were yes, this is the new movement for you. This movement will bombard companies like Iskin and xSkin with emails asking them to provide a Creative Zen touch alternati've for cases that are protecti've, photogenic, and sleek. This method works because Iskin and xskin want to make $$$ and with more emails they know they will make more money. My Ipod counterparts show off their Ipods and protecti've them with the xskin exo3 which is only 0.7mm thick, and cannot defend my creative zen touch because I have a bulky case that makes it 3 times as big. With a skin, my creative will be protected from scratchs, perfect for style points, and i dont have to take it out of a case everytime I want to change anything. This movement worked on the Iri'ver site where they overloaded the system with emails for Iri'ver skin requests, and 3 months later, Iskin rolls out a skin for the Iri'ver. We can do the same. I encourage you to assist me in this movement so we can bring the Creative Zen Touch to the top of all mp3 players trampling the Ipod and Iri'ver alltogether. Now whos with me? Its time for action because we are the Acti've Creative Zen Touch Users

The Creative Zen Touch Skin Movement
This is the Creative Movement brought to you by Creative Zen Touch users. We have had enough with the horrible cases that are offered to us as choices. We are look to towards you for salvation. We kindly ask that you create a skin for the Creative Zen Touch, our forums are overloaded with request. The market for a skin for the Zen Touch has great potential to grow and we offer you as our first choice to do so. We are tired of the Ipod and Iri'ver users who can show off their sleek mp3 player complimented by a sleek skin and a screen protector. We wish we can do the same. We want to level the playing field for all mp3 players and we are asking you to do so. I have talked to over 80,000 creative zen touch users via the Creative Forum and they are all urging for a skin and are willing to buy it. That is a great potential market you have in front of you. Thank you for your deep consideration. This movement is lead by Creative user dmai7.

    actually about the skin thing
if u wanna change the skin of your touch you ll have to brake the warranty patch that is over a screw and with it end your warranty time.
for stuff that sticks over the case its alright
and yes there should be more accessories to this thing
    have fun

  • Creative MP3 Players (Especially ZEN Touch 2) durability: satisfied?

    Hello,
I'm willing to buy a ZEN Touch 2, it look so amazing!
However, what I would like to know more: durability!
Is the ZEN Touch 2 (Or any other MP3 Player from Creative) durable enough?
I'll still have the year warrantee, but I'll need to ship it in the US, it'll need to be shipped at another adress in the US, and then shipped back to me (I'm in Canada).
That'll be a though job, you know.
My first MP3 , an Archos .5 Vision, died on me when it ran out of batteries for the first time; strangely, I reloaded it, and it had trouble booting.
My second and actual MP3, Archos 2 Vision, has brokens contacts in the headphone jack... -___-
Well, it still work, but it's really annoying.
If you are a ZEN Touch 2 owner, please give me your feedback!
    Thanks you very much!

Hi Gamex I have a Zen Touch 2 with GPS in the UK. In the first 3 weeks, it froze 3 or 4 times, and then finally died when downloading the Creative update to Android 2.2. You need to be aware that Creative Tech Support seem not to have yet caught up with the fact that they have a new type of MP3 player, and all the Knowledgebase articles they will refer you to are not relevant, as they deal with the older hard dri've type of player. It took me all but a fortnight of shouting to get them to authorise its return for repair/replacement, which is where it is currently. In addition, if you're going for the GPS model, advertised as 8GB, be aware it's capacity for music etc is a mere 4.gb, and any apps you download will eat into that. The way round this is to buy a big micro SDHC card (I got a 32gb one) which integrates seamlessly into the player. You can opt to put the apps on there if you so wish. That's the bad bit; the good bit is that it looks and feels great, and the touchscreen, while not as responsi've as some, is more than acceptable, to me at least. The sound quality is not as good as some other Creative players, mainly due to the fairly low spec earbuds supplied. Get some good ones, and the sound is fine, although strangely there is no equalizer facility. The FM radio, with RDS, gives quite astonishing reception on the move. You can import playlists from Media Player, but there is no option for crossfading, so you get a fairly significant gap between tracks. There are a fair selection of apps available, including an antivirus one (I see you were asking elsewhere about that) but you cannot access Android market; apps are downloaded from the Ziio website. Battery life is obviously dependant on what you are doing; wifi and GPS use will inevitably eat power before your very eyes. Using it for music was giving me around hours (less than claimed). Video playback (which is also very good) brings that down to around 4 hours. Overall I would say I was a little dissapointed with it, but that said having been without it now for nearly 3 weeks I realise how much I want it back, so it can't be all bad! Hope this helps? Regards Mike F

  • Connecting Creative Zen Touch to Stereo (Bose Lifestyle Syst

Hi Folks,?A bit of a naf question, I want to connect my Creative Zen Touch to a Bose Life Style System, To provide the best quality Audio connection can you advise what is the best cable for me to use. On a seperate note has anyone any comments on the Cambridge SoundWorks Dock Station, I would like something to connect the Zen Touch to for the kitchen, the cambridge sounddock id a bit of an ugly beast. Is there anything a little easier on the eye but with the same excellent audio quality. Thanks in advance for any help?Earlsie

If you have RCA inputs on your stereo, just buy a 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable and connect it that way. If not, buy an FM transmitter, connect it to the headphone jack on your Zen Touch, set it to a channel and then tune into that channel on the stereo's radio.
    Hope that hel
    ps.
    Here's a pic & link too:

You can buy it at any RadioShack (in America) and in Canada I would assume FutureShop would have it as well as any local electronics store.

  • Creative Zen Touch Skin PLEEEAASSEEE HELP!!!
