Buzzing in Earphones

My original ear buds that came with my iPod mini now have a buzzing sound in the right ear bud. I know it is just these ear buds, and it isn't the iPod itself, but is there anything I can do to fix this or prevent it from happening in the future? I don't listen to my iPod that loud; most of the time, I actually listen to it on speakers... what am I doing wrong?

They won't even make you return your old ones. It's probably a manufacturer's issue . . . not something you've done. It happens . . .

  • GSM interference in Apple earbuds?

I am well aware of the GSM interference issues with external speakers, etc. However, I frequently hear the same GSM interference through my Apple supplied earbuds.
For some reason, I thought that was not supposed to happen. Is it normal? Do other people experience this? I just want to make sure that there is not something wrong with my iPhone.
    Thanks for any responses

    Hi Sean,
I think I also have this GSM buzz with my earphone.
I recently found this myself and I was very
surprised. I think this is a normal behavior,
or may be a quality control issue of some production
line of iPhones. So I wonder if you are trying to
replace your current phone with AppleCare, could
you please post your result with new replacement?
(then I may be interested to try a replacement too)
Anyway this is what I found.
How one can reproduce this GSM buzz with earphone:
    (0) find a quiet room
    (1) turn off Wifi
    (2) put your earphone
    (3) try to use EDGE network by one of these
    weather info
    (ii) stock info
(iii) try to load a web page with Safari
    (4) if you do one of (3) and see EDGE activity
indicator, you can clearly hear GSM buzz
    through your earphone.

  • Why does my ipod keeping buzzing whenever there's earphones in or attached to a speaker?

I have a 5th generation ipod touch which I use all the time but lately, whenever I plug in earphones and listen to music, there's a buzzing noise which gets louder as I increase the volume. I thought it was the earphones or jack lead but I've tried other earphones and it's still the same. Is there anything I can do to stop this or is it broken? I'm so gutted

Try going outside. It could be interference from external sources. If still problem:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • N95 Earphone buzzing

    Hi guys
Have had a quick search through but can't seem to find anything here which might help so thought it best to ask.
My N95, which I've had for about a year now and been mostly happy with has developed an annoying problem, the earphone has a tinny buzzing sound like interferance when the other caller is talking.
I can also hear myself talking through the earphone when I speak and that is buzzing too.
If I connect my headphones it is perfect and if I use my Bluetooth headset it is perfect too. Similarly if I switch to loudspeaker this is also perfect, so I reckon there is a fault with the earphone, but don't know what or if there is a way to fix it.
This has happened all of a sudden the phone hasn't been dropped or been swimming.
Hope somebody can help me, thanks in advance
    Matt

Just to let you know, I took my n95 to the local Nokia care shop, told the guy and he whipped it out of my hand saying "surprise surprise!"
10 Minutes later my phone had been cleaned totally inside and out, had a new earphone fitted, some new screws for the back of the slider, which was loose and also some stoppers to stop the battery fslling out and also to replace the manky sellotape that I had been using to stop this since I got the phone a year ago.
All in the cost was £10!! I am over the moon, I really thought I would need a second mortgage for this repair.
Just so you know this is the Nokia Care shop in Hayes End Middlesex, highly recommend them, great bunch of chaps.
And once again thanks to you guys for your advice in the first place

  • 2012 iMac loud headphone jack buzz

I have recently bought the 2012 21.5 inch 2.7 GHz iMac and everything has been working perfectly up until today.
Whenever i plug something into the audio in socket (Speakers or headphones) as soon as music or any type of sound is produced from the computer, the headphones or speakers make a very load buzzing noise. On speakers it sounds like more of a deep kind of sound, due to the better bass on the speakers, but on earphones it sound like a high pitched buzzing sound.
I have tried numberous different pairs of headphones but the same thing happens for all of them. I have changed the plug socket which the mac is plugged into as was suggested from another website, this did nothing. I have even changed rooms, so im pretty sure its nothing to do with static electricity or anything to do with the plug sockets.
I have blown lightly into the audio in hole to try and clean it out if anything is in there, this didnt work either.
There is nothing wrong with the external speakers, just when i plug headphones or speakers in. The volume of the buzzing isnt affected if i adjust the volume of the mac, and it still buzzes even if its on mute.
Up until today this hasnt been an issue, and the buzzing just began today for some reason.
One last thing, the buzzing only seems to come out of the left earpiece of the headphones which are plugged in.
Any ideas on what the problem could be and how to sort it would be much appreciated.
    Its getting really annoying.
    Thanks.

After I spoke to Apple care, I had to send mine in for repair to the local apple store. I was under warranty so It was repaired (actually got a replacement TBH)  free of charge.
Its, from what I can gather, a loose/faulty connection in the headphone jack. Best ring them up and explain your situation, they are very helpful in fairness to them.

  • Power adapter buzz?

Well, my power adapter has always buzzed....one of those high frequency sounds, or a low drone sound. However, I could only hear it if I had my ear close to the adapter. Today, for some reason, it was so loud, I heard it while playing music with earphones in my ears! well, I in between songs atleast
Anyways, as I'm typing this, it is buzzing away very loudly. Its not any hotter then it usually is, but it still sounds bad. Also, if I unplug the magsafe but leave the adapter plugged in, the buzzing stops. So its only buzzing when it is pulling power to charge. In 10:08....no wait, now its only 1:23 mins when its done charging i'll have to take notice if it stops buzzing when it is fully charged but I'm getting scared and might not leave it plugged in that long.
I am using the 3 prong grounded cord, so I know its grounded. Its plugged into a surge protector too. The same outlet I've used in the past without problem.
    Any ideas?
Should I have AppleCare replace it or is it ok?

You don't have the adapter brick sitting on some different surface from the usual, do you? Something that might resonate and amplify its normal inaudible or barely-audible sound?
If not, then it may be worth taking it into an Apple Store for evaluation.
Same spot. I did notice that moving it seems to change the sound. But then it will start buzzing loudly again all by it self. I guess i'll just have to stay alert when using it and keep an eye (or ear) on it!
I don't have any apple stores nearby (closest is 2-3hrs), but I am traveling later this month to a place that does have on in a mall. I might be able to stop by, and if so I will bring them the power adapter if it is still behaving this way.

  • Have i blasted my earphones or is my ipod messed up?

i use the earphones i got with the ipod, and i assume they are pretty bad. sometimes on some songs i hear a kind of buzz on the song, its hard to explain but i doesnt sound perfect. ive heard many have problems with their ipod, and i was wondering if anybody else have had the same problem? is it most likely that the earphones or the ipod thats messed up?
when i work out i always play the music loud, sometime on full volume because its music at the gym, people talk etc.
its not a very big problem, but of course im not satisfied with 95% sound quality!
    what do you think?

Well have your ruled out the problem being the headphones or the IPOD by plugging a second set of working headphones into the IPOD?

  • IPod nano built-in speaker fizzing/buzzing

Hello, when using built-in speaker on my iPod, music plays, but after pausing/stopping it and putting the iPod to my ear, I can hear fizzing/buzzing from internal speaker, although music is paused. If volume is low, noise is low as well. If volume is high, noise is bigger.
If iPod is switched off, there is no noise from speaker.
    Listening via headphones is OK.
Please, is it common behavior or should I send it to service?
    Thanks for your comments.

I have no such problem. Are the earphones connected securely? Make sure you push the earphone in very hard until the white part is touching the iPod.
It's possible your earphone are defective?
Since your service department has acknowledged the issue take the iPod back along with the earphone. If you get another ipod, do not leave the service center until the service center tested the iPod for buzzing & fizzing.

  • Earphone output

Beginning yesterday I began to hear buzzing in the left channel of the earphone, then complete silence. I've been using Sony MDR V6 earphones with receivers since 1991 without a single problem, and have used these same phones exclusively on the iMac since we purchased it in 2011. We don't use bass boost or any other equalization. I checked the earphones with an AV receiver and both left and right channels play back properly, so the phones are not broken. I plugged a second set of Sony MDR V6 phones into the iMac and the result is the same: distortion, especially in the bass, then no sound at all. Oddly enough, the iMac speakers function as they should, but we're missing the extended frequency response and private listening of the earphones.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with our iMac's earphone output?
    Thanks.

Under AppleCare the local Apple Store replaced the logic board, 3.4 GHz, Quad-Core i7. Since the repair the iMac audio has been perfect. There were no out-of-pocket expenses.

  • Buzzing sound through headphone jack

    Hi all,
I recently have had a problem with both my headphone jacks because whenever I plug in any type of headphone or earphones there is quite a loud buzzing sound and even when I am listening to something it is still there in the background. What should I do?
    Thanks

    Hey  Centaurgoku and dmt4v,
If you're using Windows 7, try turning down or muting the PC Beep. It could cause interference.
Right Click on the Speaker symbol in the system tray > Click Playback Devices > Right-Click Speakers/Speakers and Headphones > Click Properties > Click Levels tab > Turn down the PC Beep or Mute it.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if this suggestion helps (this could help other users who have the same issue). I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

  • Creative earphones (white earbuds) prob

I just bought the new Muvo Micro N200 52Mb and after less than a month, the two wires from the left and right earphones were going out of the little box that join the wires. I can see now the inside of it with the metal wires, etc.. I can't use them anymore, it would do a electrical disfunction. So I am currently asking creative for the steps I have to take to get a warranty return.
Do u have the same problem?

I recall reading somewhere on the forum that 32 Ohm phones will remove the backlight buzz, so it might be an opportunity to upgrade. Of course, the trade-off is shorter battery life.
On the subject of battery life, I've found that my N200 is using up my batteries at seemingly a much faster rate than the 5 hours on the back of the box. Many of my songs are at 92kbps, and I think I've read before that higher bitrate uses up more juice, so I'm wondering if that have anything to do with the battery depletion.
Not that this problem matters for me personally: I use so many battery-powered gadgets that I've switched over to using NiMHs, so juice depletion really doesn't matter for me. But it'd be nice for others to know if this might be an issue.

  • Earphones prob

i've bought my zen micro 7 days ago. everything was ok, until today. when i started the music, my earphones made some strange buzzing sound and squeaking. it happens every time i change the track, stop playing or pause... the sound is really annoying:/ it lasts for about 5 seconds, until the micro's hard dri've sto
    ps.
i checked other earphones and nothing happened (so it's the creative's earphones, not the micro itself, i think :>). what should i do? do i have to send it to be repaired? do i have to send the player too?
    ps.
i've already ent a message to the costumers service, but i wanto to know i f someone had the same problem... and sorry for mistakes

If it's just the headphones then hopefully you won't have to send the player back. It's a relati'vely common fault for the headphone socket to fail, but if you've tried other headphones it shouldn't be this.
Do yourself a favour though and buy some better headphones. The ones that come with the player aren't very good. There are many threads with recommendations for others if you search back.

  • EarPods doing a buzz sound on other devices?

I've had my Apple iPod touch 5th Generation for now a year and I must say that for a first iDevice, my experience so far has been outstanding.
However, I noticed that when I use the included Apple EarPods with, say, a laptop or a Nintendo 3DS, the earphone does an aggressing buzzing.
Is that normal or is it a hardware problem?

Phew, it worked.  Thanks to all.
Found I had to feed in all the WiFi code again to tablets, phones, PCs etc, and had a few nervous moments until I found the hex code appeared to be case sensitive.
This is the first time I have ever been able to get into the HH settings menu: now to find out how to get my wireless printer to blast through whatever firewall system is stopping accessing the network.  You might find me back here again soon!

  • Sound from earphones (imac 2011)

Kind time of day.  I had a problem with my imac.
In case of connection of earphones directly to the port for the earphones, the monoblock which was on the back panel, in earphones there is a loud noise ("buzzs"). Only the left earphone buzzs. Whether there are guesses that it can be?

    T4,
Then the pods that you have seem not to electrically match with your Mac, as the others that you tried seemed ok, am I right in this understanding?
On the iPhone it has a very unique plug configuration that seems to set specifically for the iPhone, because it is a 4 conductor connector (one is for the microphone) that may make other pods not work properly. (yes this is an Apple thing, AAAAARRRRGGGG!!!!)
But that would then confirm that there is not anything wrong with your Mac, as those Apple pods are for the iPhone, I guess both good and bad news.
I don't use my iPhone to listen to music, nor do I use pods either, unless the artist I am working with is, then I use the same make and model so I can "hear what they hear".
I do pro audio for a living and I can understand this "crosstalk issue with the 4th connector"
But without getting too technical,  it would seem your Mac is just fine, which is a good thing.
I would think that the newer Macs will be more compatible with the Apple iPhone pods, but they all seem to have their issues with the switching system...for years now!
Hope this helps you understand this "FRUIT FLY"
My suggestion is to use "regular headphones/ear pods with your Mac and the Apple iPhone pods with the phone. )I only have ever used the iPhone pods with the iPhone when I'm driving, and with only the iPhone. I have much better sounding pods/phones that I use to "ACTUALLY' listen to music with....and it a'int MP3/4
    Peace SJP
