Buzzing?

My ac adapter for my mac buzzes and gets very hot to the touch and it has done that ever since I got my mac and I don't know what to do. Suggestions?

If you do not experience this problem when you are plugged into a household outlet, I would expect that your car inverter is either not properly grounded or it may be defective. A power source is the most important part of todays technology and proper connections are a must. As for power from a car using an inverter has many variables, not excluding ensuring you have proper ground, does your alternator provide enough amperage to manage what you are running. Hope this advice helps. :P

I ve tried the Troubleshooting tool in Windows 8,but there each speaker seems to work properly.
I have instablished the most recent Audio driver update from HP, 'IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver', as you had told me few months ago, but the problem still exists. i had followed as well the steps on the document 'No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8)' but did not help.
    Please Help!!!!!!
    Thank you

Hi kp161. I have reviewed your Previous Thread. If the basic troubleshooting has not produced a permanent resolution I will need more information. You mentioned that the buzzing sound appears from various sources. I want to use YouTube as our starting point. Find a video that you get the buzzing sound in, and note the time in the video where the sound occurs. If you play it again, does the buzz happen at the same point again? Does it happen through the speakers? Does it happen through headphones?
    Let me know.

  • Ultrabook/Notebook freezing and making loud buzzing noise

I just received via UPS a HP Pavilion 11 x2 PC 11-h010nr for my daughter for Christmas.  I decided to let her open it as her one before Christmas present and I am glad I did.  She went into xbox music to listen to her new beats audio sound.  On about the 3rd song the loudest annoying buzzing noise came out of the screen portion and the screen was frozen (she had it detached from the keyboard).  She hit the power button and the noise stopped.  She got back into xbox music and about the 2nd song this time it did it again.  She started to cry and very upset because she thought it was broke and would take a very long time for us to get it fixed and she gets a replacement.  Needless to say her Christmas has just turned into a really bad Christmas.  Also today I brought the notebook with me to work to see if the problem continues and as I was putting the song on Pause/Play the noise occured, the screen did not freeze but the noise did occur.

    Hello mickeymom44,
The notebook would still be covered by the  warranty, I recommend calling our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl

  • Audio problem; buzzing noise (HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr)

Hi, I recently bought an HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr Ultrabook. I'm getting this annoying buzzing noise while listening to music or streaming movies. The store change my laptop for another one and after a few minutes listening I got the same behaviour on the new (same model) laptop. Is this a model problem? Is there anyone with the same problem?

Solution found for me.  First, a little background.   I have a HP Spectre XT Touchsmart 15-4010NR and also have the same annoying  buzzing noise.  Usually lasts less than a second and is intermittent.  Counted it 13 times in four minutes of a YouTube audio file.  Time between the buzzes varies significantly ranging from a second or two to over a minute.  Once during the four minutes the audio cut out completely for less than a second.  My solution, I unplugged the AC adapter.  No more problem whatsoever as long as I'm on the battery.  Tried this multiple times, plugging the AC back in for a few minutes, then the same on battery.  The result, the buzzing occurs only when the AC is plugged in, and does not occur at all when on battery power.  The AC power adapter provides power and charges the battery normally.  Not sure what to conclude from this.  I suppose the AC power adapter or cord could have an issue.  Not going to go out and buy another one to test whether this is the case.  It's an inconvenience, but I'll just unplug the AC power when listening to audio.  If I listened to long recordings or movies this could become a real issue.  I'd be curious to know if it's a hardware problem, or something I could adjust in the settings on the computer, or something else like a grounding issue.   Interested if others can confirm my findings and expand on them.  out

  • I tried to sync my iPhone 4S to new work laptop and it keeps buzzing, won't sync

I just got a new Dell laptop for work and installed iTunes.  When I hooked up my iPhone 4S to my laptop, Windows first showed that it was installing some driver and then iTunes opened, and then my phone just kept repeat buzzing.  I noticed the battery icon & bluetooth icon at the top right of phone screen kept flickering.  I opened Control Panel-Device Manager-Bluetooth Devices and a Bluetooth Mobile Device icon would pop up and then disappear repeatedly.
I tried disabling the Bluetooth driver, and then disconnected and re-connected my phone - iTunes opened up again but I still got the repeat buzzing, and an error message that iTunes could not connect to phone.
I still have my old laptop and it connects and syncs my phone no problem.
Not sure what is the problem or what to do next?
I'm guessing my IT dept will just tell me that they don't support iTunes and that I'm on my own with this issue.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#error29
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

And currently when I tried to charge it it wont charge I tried to do some research about this issue and have read some of the same problem
here in the forum with same issue and done almost everything changed the cable , core , usb did the hard reset still nothing !!!
Any idea would be appreciated . Thanks
    Updated:
I discovered that its not a battery issue
The reason is that it's chargeable while the phone is switched off completely !
after a while you can see the battery charge is full 100%
but when it's switched on the phone wont charge or recognized
the cable from wall charger or usb so I the ITunes won't sync or see the device !
I think its something with the software !
I tried to update to IOS 5.1.1  but after downloading
    it wont install the new update I got this message;
    "Unable to Install Update"
An error occurred installing IOS 5.1.1
So that only chance which I think it might hwlp solving the problem is dead now
I really have no idea what to do other than taking this phone to Apple

OK folks I started my deep research about this issue ( MY problem )
Don't know if some one out there is even got similar issue
The battery is charging well while my phone is switched off so last night
my Iphone runs out of charge completely 0% so I plugged the cable
and switch it on after a while and all the sudden it shows that the battery
is charging while its switched on !!
If you want to do this you have to plug the charging cable first then turn off
your Iphone and wait for a while then  turn it back on ( sipmle off ) no need
for the (Hard) Reset or recovery mode / DFU mode .
Just as a normal way to of switching off your Iphone by
Holding down the sleep/wake button at the top right-hand corner of the iPhone for a few seconds.
This will bring up a screen asking you to run the slider across the screen to turn off the iPhone.
Wait few seconds and repeat that with holding that same sleep/wake button at the top right-hand corner for like a Sec and it will turn on , Then you can
see that your phone is charging while its on !
If you unplug your charging cable this will ruin the whole plan and if you
you plug it again it wont show anything and will not be able to charge
while its on and you have to repeat that procedure.
Now we are sure that out Dock and Charging Port and battery are working fine , So whats the problem here and why my PC wont detect my Iphone ??
Well I assume its from a part called ( PMU IC ) Power Management Unit IC
    http://www.buyforapple.com/product_images/j/iphone4_power_management_un__72870.j pg
    Check this out :
    http://youtu.be/MJPKuLy7XQQ
So I think my main problem is from that tiny part that makes all that
problem I have now so I have to replace it first just to make sure before
replacing any other parts so this is the start I hope this was the problem
    that caused all this !!!
If you have any similar issue to mine I really appreciate any advice ,
    suggestions regarding this matter .
    Thanks for reading
    Have a great time

  • Won't turn on, flashing light, loud buzzing when I try to charge it?

My ipod died in April and I got a replacement from the apple store as it was still (just!) under warranty. I woke up in the middle of the night last night because my ipod was flashing - not on and off, just a blank flashing light. I tried turning it on and off but it didn't work and didn't even turn on.
When I got up today the flashing had stopped. I tried charging it but as soon as I plugged in the lead from my computer it started making a really loud buzzing noise. I don't mean the whirring/clicking noise that seems to be common enough when they die (that's what happened my last one, but it would turn on and display the battery with exclamation mark), but a real buzzing sound.
It started flashing again too after being plugged in for less than a minute. I left it plugged in for a while but the noise was driving me crazy so I've unplugged it now.
Has anyone come across this problem before? I haven't dropped it or had it near liquids etc, I've been treating it like a newborn baby since the last one died! I've googled and tried searching apple support but I haven't come across anything similar. Any help would be great, thanks!

If you connected it to both your computer's USB port and a USB power adapter on a wall outlet, I think you've ruled out a problem with the power source.  Since you at least get the red light, the USB docking cable is probably OK.
So, if it's not the USB port or the docking cable, the cause is likely to be on the shuffle.  It may be the battery or a problem on the logic board.  If it was just the battery, I think it would still appear in iTunes on the computer (or at least be recognized by the system).
(If this shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty.)

  • How do I stop my MacBook Pro from buzzing?

My MacBook Pro occasionally makes these weird buzzing/clicking noises even when it isn't on. After awhile, it usually stops but sometimes it takes longer to stop. It sounds like it's coming from the vent thing connecting the keyboard to the screen. Is there any way that I can stop this from happening? What should I do? Thanks!!!

  • Crackling, Popping, Buzzing Noises in Audio

Recently (within the past week) my audio has started to crack, skip, pop, buzz, and all sorts of things. I have a Pavilion g6 1d08dx laptop with Windows 7 64-Bit, 4 GB RAM, and it's about 2 years old now, but I recently re-installed the OS, about 2 or 3 weeks ago after my old HDD failed.
I notice when I hit the wifi switch, the latency gets really bad to the point where it is just static-like buzzing and crackling, whether I'm turning it on or off. I've tried to reinstall the driver (IDT High Definition Audio), and updating it, but so far nothing. If it helps, there's two other audio drivers under that section- Intel Display Audio and Bluetooth Hands-Free audio.
Perhaps an update to different drivers is available. What free software could I get to check this?
    Thank you.

    Can anyone help?

  • Iphone 4 makes an continuous intermittent vibration/buzzing sound when plugged into any of computer's 3 usb ports; does not show in itunes or Windows Vista device manager. No problem charging the phone with other power sources. What's going on?

This problem happened intermittently in the past but now happens every time I plug in the phone. I suspect it might be a problem with my computer, an Acer Aspire 4530, perhaps with it's charging function via usb ports? The phone makes the same buzzing sound twice when I connect to other power sources, but continues when connected to computer. I have this issue even when the phone is 100% charged.

  • HP laserJet 5200dtn making buzzing/humming noise after printing

    Hi,
We have about three of these units in our office and one of them has recently began to make a loud buzzing/humming noise during and after printing a document. THe noise last about 5-10 seconds after the print job completes.  I can also make the printer buzz by removing the duplexer and puting it back in. The printer seems to load and then the buzz noise happens, again for about 5 seconds. I am aware of normal noise from these printers and this buzz is not normal.
This noise gets louder as the day goes on. Could this be a fan motor going bad?  We need to do somthing to get it quieter.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks

  • IMac 27 inch hum/buzz/vibration

I have just come from the new Apple store in Hornsby, having returned the second iMac 27 inch computer with a hum/buzz/vibration noise complaint.
APPLE THIS IS NOT A MYTH AND NOT ACCEPTABLE!
    The story goes like this...
I bought a 3.4 Ghz, quad core 27 inch iMac with a 1TB Seagate HDD and 8GB of RAM, and the 1GB video card a few months ago from the Apple store in Castle Hill, Sydney NSW. Took the machine home, set it up, and was extremely happy with it. Upgraded to Lion, had no issues with performance or ambient noise etc... it was whisper quiet. I would leave the machine running all the time, letting it simply sleep when inactive, and it never made a sound other than the optical drive or maybe occasionally the drive heads when reading or writing data. It was dead silent!
I receieved an email from Apple stating that in some circumstances the Seagate drive could fail, and for me to contact a store to make an appointment to have the drive replaced as part of a product recall. I thought 'I'll do the right thing' and made an appointment with Castle Hill Apple store to see a 'Genius'. Here comes my first gripe! I am an IT professional myslef (a CIO with a technical background) I should add, at this point. When I made the appointment I was unable to ascertain the status of stock for the replacement hard drives or how long the replacement would take. I get to Castle Hill and I am advised that the drives are not in stock and it could take a few days to get this completed. I don't want to be without my new computer for that long!? So I take it home and rethink how I should approach this.
Hornsby Apple store opens! I live in Hornsby so that suits me! On talking to a representative at the Hornsby store just this Friday passed I am advised that they do have the 1TB replacement drives in stock so make an appointment quick smart! So I do. It goes downhill from here...
On Sunday just passed I drop my iMac (Serial # C02FG03YDMW8) with a Seagate 1TB HDD in for hard drive replacement. As my data needed to be transferred from one drive to the other, I was told it would take overnight. No problem I thought. All good. I pick up the iMac the next day, with the Seagate drive replaced with a Western Digital one, and take it home. Set it up and turn it on. Suddenly my iMac is no longer 'whisper quiet'. From the point the system status chord sounds there is a humming or buzzing 'droan' that resonates through the desk and can be heard even over my television, fridge and fish tank! Sitting in front of the iMac for more than 10 minutes results in discomfort from the sound. It didn't make this noise before!? My assumption was that the new drive was either faulty or incorrectly installed. Dissapointed, and informed by reading countless blogs and forums on others returning multiple iMacs with the same complaint, I box back up my iMac (which I had previously been VERY happy with - previous to it being a buzzing machine that was) and the next morning (Tuesday) return it to the Hornsby store.
At this point I must note that the staff (Manager Kate and Technician or 'Genius' James) have been outstanding in terms of customer support. I cannot fault the staff at this point, just the product.
Tuesday morning the folks at the Apple store advise that they can either try to repair my now noisy iMac, or replace it. I figure, well I'll replace it then. So James sets about that day transferring all my data again, moving my 8GB of Ram from the machine with serial number C02FG03YDMW8 to a new machine, with serial number C02FP02MDMW8. The new machine has in it of course, a Western Digital drive (not that I am attributing the hum/buzz/vibration to the WD drive, but it is an odd coincidence don't you think?). I pick that machine up Tuesday afternoon, thanking everyone for all their wonderful help, and knocking on wood that this new machine is as faultless as my first one was prior to the drive replacement. Guess what!? It wasn't!!!
So I return the second machine this morning. You guessed it... I am now irate. The 'Genius' told me he could not recreate the issue... OF COURSE! GENIUS! You have music in the background and it's a noisy store! I wish I had never let anyone touch my iMac in the first place. As I've said I've read countless forums on this issue - it DOES EXIST! If I pick up the machine when running, the buzz vanishes. You can FEEL the vibration through the stand. If you lean the machine forwards onto the front ledge of the stand the sound goes. It is something to do with a moving component that is creating a vibration and in quiet environments the noise actually becomes irritant. I left my iMac running overnight and from my bedroom, I could hear the droan. The desk is a wooden desk, on tiled floor - but I must impress, MY FIRST iMac DID NOT MAKE THIS DROAN!
Anyone wish to comment? Apple maybe!? The iMac is in the shop for further diagnostics.

I also have 2 Tb Hitachi iMac 2011 with SSD. The source of constant noise is Hitachi drive. When iMac runs just on SSD it's dead silent. Disappointed with this issue for so expensive model. Changing the tabble or using rubber pad like some people advice don't help at all. I saw some iMacs which are almost dead silent, so it's weird Apple sells so different models, especially when you pay much more to get that 2 Tb drive. I am already out of my 2 weeks return/exchange period, and actually I had a very little hope on the shop - they surely will tell it's normal since the drive is OK. I called Apple authorized service and they tell iMacs can be as loud as 30 Db. But it's weird, I saw a bottom line 512 Gb model in the shop and couldn't hear any buzz even with my ear touching the screen. Surely the constant HDD buzz just attracts the attention and makes overall impression from using iMac not that positive. I saw older iMacs, even plastic ones, they are all dead silent. So what can we do in this situation? Surely Apple won't serve it as a warranty issue. Also customers are very limited in choosing replacement hard drives as Apple now uses proprietary models, and many of them tend to be noisy....
Actually when you have an SSD drive you can unmount your second hard drive and it becomes silent. You can even specify the drives to go to sleep after 1 minute of inactivity with pmset Terminal command. But it will start to spin again again after going from sleep. Also if you have some third-party tools like Parallels installed, the second drive will not sleep at all cause Parallels causes some conflict.
Overall this computer is dead silent when the secondary HDD is not spinning, even in games.
I really don't know what to do

  • White screen  buzzing noise and no question mark folder just white screen

So i noticed my macbook pro was slowing down and a ran disk warrior and disk utilities - repaired permissions , repaired drive then i noticed it was freezing up after 5 minutes of running.
so i removed all files i wanted to keep to an external drive and backed up with time machine.
I wanted to re install mac os X from the supplied DVD and it was going fine til about 2/3rds the way and it froze
now i turn the computer on and i get buzzing sound and white screen NOT even a question mark flashing folder.
    I have tried :
    PRAM reset = nothing
    eject disk on start= nothing
im under a year in purchase
but im wondering if there is anything i can do before i take it in on monday??
it is a Macbook pro (13 inch mid 2009) intel duo 2 core

    circle23,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It sounds like the HD failed. Try inserting the OS X install Disc in the DVD drive this time re-starting holding down the Option Key. When it starts choose the OS X install Disc and allow it to get to the point where it asks what language. Then choose the Utilities menu and click the internal drive then check the S.M.A.R.T status of the drive, it should say Verified if it's OK. If it doesn't try repairing the disk several times and see if the S.M.A.R.T status changes. If it doesn't make an appointment here and take it in.
    Regards,
    Roger
