BW 7.3 powered by HANA SP01 Questions

Hello,
I have an idea on how ECC-HANA works though TZHANA/certification/sandbox access.
But there is lot of confusion how BW7.3 SP05 works on HANA SP01, i have few questions on this, can you please through some light on this:
Questions related to new BW7.3 implementation on SAP HANA 1.0.
1. HANA optimized info cube-
- How tables(Dimension, Fact, SID, MAster data tbales) look like in the HANA DB schema? Do we see all the BW tables.
- Attribute views, Analytic views and calculation view are created automatically when you create HANA optimized cube?
- Do we need to do any additional modelling in HANA studio after you create infocube in order to consume the data in the BO reporting tools
     - If we do exact info cube modelling directly in HANA studio then can these objects visible in RSA1?
     - how about ABAP transformation? can we see this coding in HANA studio and do the changest to the code?
==> Data provisioning:
-Can we do Data loads in a normal BW way(info pack-PSA-DTP-process chain-jobs etc)
if yes why do we need to use any replication mehtods: 1. SLT(trigger based) 2. BO-DS 3. Sybase replication(log based)
     - Is it mandetory to use one of the data provisioning(replication) methods to do BW data loads?
     - How would be the modelling of normal DSO when compared to HANA optimized DSO - Any specific that we need to consider?
Do we have any step by step for BW7.3 powered by HANA?
please provide some info on above questions.
Thanks.

Yes, if needed by the query processing.
> - Do we need to do any additional modelling in HANA studio after you create infocube in order to consume the data in the BO reporting tools
No. You consume the data by connecting BO BI tools to BW, not directly to BW tables in HANA database.

No. http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/11/69442974eb49aaa08ee5c225766858/frameset.htm

You can use data replication to get data into non-BW schema.

  • S&OP Powered by HANA

    Hi Gurus,
I am looking into S&OP powered by HANA to analyse if it can be a good fit for a requirement at client.
    Landscape:
    ECC 6
HANA side car (in memory database, HANA studio, S&OP)
    BOBJ
    Requirement:
Client needs to bring the sales and distribution contracts data in a reporting/planning tool and run simulations of various what if scenarios and save them.
    Question:
Can we just pull the data from SD tables in S&OP HANA application and do the planning? or do we need to do any S&OP configuration on ECC side first?

    Hi,
S&OP is available on Cloud and it can be connected to ECC via HCI (HANA Cloud Integration) which in included in S&OP license. As such no configuration is required from ECC side. The mapping in S&OP table and ECC tables are out of the box for certain master data and key figures.
Please check the details of simulations that customer requires in sales and distribution. Standard what-if simulations in S&OP includes demand-supply balancing keeping an eye on financial objectives.
    Best Regards,
    Vikas

    Hi Sravan,
Views do not store any data in HANA
    All data resides in tables

  • How to get Maintenance_HDB certificate for BW Powered With HANA system.

    Hi,
We need to install Maintenance_HDB license in order to install BI -CONT addon component on our newly installed BW Powered With HANA system. But we could not get Maintenance_HDB license, as we are able to get only Maintenance_ADA License for our system.
The main clarification required here is while adding a new entry in SMP (Service Market Place) of BW Powered By HANA system, what is the product that needs to selected in order to get HANA as database. We did selected Netweaver 7.3 for which we were actually made to select MAXDB as database but not HANA.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pavan Indrakumar

Well even though it says your customer number is not authorized for HANA DATABASE license for BW, we can add HANA as database product under Netweaver 7.3 and proceed requesting for Maintenace License.
Not sure about the exact criteria behind the license provisioning.

  • BW Powered On HANA - System Copy Process

    Dear HANA Gurus,
Now we are on HANA 1.0 SPS03 Rev.21, and we also have a BW 7.3 SP05, running on Windows 2008 64 bit server, on Oracle 11.2.
We want to migrate the BW to HANA DB. Refering to note 1600929 (which is version in revision), the Export method with system copy (using HANA special options) seems fine.
However, not sure how the Import will be done in HANA? We will be creating a new BW on Windows again, and if it is system  import it'll again create an Oracle based instance!
When and where it migrates to HANA DB?
    Regards
    Manish Madhav

    Hello,
HANA conversion is heterogeneous system copy process (DB migration). You will export system on Oracle and then you will import into HANA. Of course you need to have proper CDs.
Here comes important question - did you signed up for SAP rampup? BW on HANA is not yet in Global Availability and only some customers are allowed to participate.
You can find required CDs at this location:
    http://service.sap.com/swdc
    Software Downloads
       Installations and Upgrades
          Browse our Download Catalog
             SAP NetWeaver and complementary products
SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 powered by SAP HANA
                   BW ON HANA INSTALLATION 1.0
                      Installation
                         Downloads
If you cannot see these CDs - then you are not part of rampup and you need to wait until Global Availability.
If you can see these CDs - then you need to download them and use them to perform import.
I did not yet have opportunity to perform conversion myself (we still need to prepare our system to meed the requirements) but from SAP guides it is apparent that SAP HANA database is installed on one server (appliance) while ABAP is sitting on second server. (In other words - you should not have ABAP on same server as HANA.)
Also note that only ABAP stack can run on HANA.
And installation guide (here is for Windows):
    http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001240932011E.pdf
In a standard system, all main instances except the SAP HANA database instance run on a single host.
See system copy guide for details:
    http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001299452010E.pdf
SAP HANA database is available for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 ABAP only.

  • BW powered by HANA with ECC integration

    Dear Experts,
Kindly help me for step by step BW 7.4 Powerd HANA and ECC system integration & configuration.
    Regards,
    Sri.

    Dear Dinesh,
    Thanks for Quick reply.
Same only BW and ECC integration, But now SAP BW 7.4 not dual stack, ABAP and JAVA stacks are separate..many changes is there. Do you have any idea about same host, same SID installation for BW 7.4 ABAP stack & BW 7.4 Java stack on HANA Database.
SAP BW 7.4 Java to ECC integration is some wizard will be there.
the same way in ABAP stack any transaction or wizard is there or not.
    Kindly help for this.

  • SAP S&OP on HANA configuration question - S&OP Process Modelling not visible

    Dear Readers,
I am configuring SAP S&OP on HANA and I am running into a problem around the S&OP process setup. The issue is that I cannot see any process appearing in the Home - Dashboard screen.
I have set up users, roles, visibility filters, and the process modelling.
The only thing I haven't set up is the Jam Groups.
Does anyone have an idea why I cannot see the process in the dashboard? And is specifying the Jam group required?
    Best Regards, Joost

    1) JAM needs to be installed. From your screenshot, it seems that either you have a non-authorized user or no JAM: The symbol with the two people on the left side is missing, which comes ony with JAM
    2) how could you create a process modeling without a JAM group? JAM group is mandatory in the set up, at least in the latest version
    Good luck

  • Are these key fields in 'Direct Update' DSO table in BW on HANA (BW740SP7) correct?

Pls see below for a very strange behaviour of all active tables of type 'Direct Update' DSO in our system.
Is this a bug or is this somehow supposed to be like this (i.e. a feature)?
    DSO definition:
Active table of type 'Column Store' - note fields marked as 'Key' different from DSO definition:
    The DSO table content:
In ABAP executing the following select on the DSO table:
The result is garbage (the content of QQQPARST0 lands in /BIC/QQQPAFL0 and QQQSCPRO lands in /BIC/QQQPARA0):

    Dear Sundaresan,
thanks for this suggestion, but I have posted the question in the following forums:
SAP Business Warehouse: What is this with the 'Direct' DSO table in BW on HANA (BW740SP7)
SAP BW powered by HANA: Direct Update DSO keyfields in RSA1 <> SE11 & SELECT returns garbage
ABAP for SAP HANA: Direct Update DSO keyfields in RSA1 <> SE11 & SELECT returns garbage
So far no real luck but maybe soon

  • View Calculation view of ECC in SAP BW on HANA Server

    Hello All,
    I have a question
    1. We have SAP BW powered by HANA
    2. We have ECC System which is also powered by HANA
    3. We have HANA Studio installed on our desktop
    4. Lets say I have connected to ECC Data Base VUA HANA studio and created Calculation Views.
    5. Now when I logon to BW server I want the calculation VIew to be exposed to BW
what are the steps to establish connection between BW and HANA
how can I see the Calculation view created VIA Hana Studio in ECC Hana Database in BW Server
My requirement it I will upload all master data in BW and then Calculation view created in ECC will need to be exposed to BW on HANA server then link this Calculation View to Master Data in BW Via Composite Provider and then use this for reporting.
Please suggest possible ways by which by which I can see the calculation views created VIA HANA Studio on ECC HANA Data base.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Hi Sachin,
You have my Role model & hero's name I will definitely help you out ...
    To repeat your question..
You have ECC on HANA and also BW on HANA
ECC and BW cannot coexists on single HANA box as of today. So in your landscape you might be having two HANA boxes ,one connecting to ECC and other to BW.
Now your question is you want to bring the Calculation view build on ECC HANA box to BW  HANA box. Check the steps below to achieve the same.
    1) if you have already build a calculation view in ECC HANA box then export the Calculation view  .
    2) Connect the two HANA box via SLT and replicate all the tables that is required for the calculation view.
    3) Once the tables are replicated   then import the Calculation view that is exported earlier.
    4) Now the calculation view is in BW on HANA box. Now its possible to build a composite provider by combining the BW master data and ECC transaction data calculation view.
If you don't want to use SLT then use SDA option to virtualize all the required tables and rebuild the calculation view again on these virtual tables.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Does BW on HANA or HANA Standalone Support geographic Failover?

    Gurus,
We are working on a Pilot implementation for BW 7.3 powered by HANA and HANA standalone.
Client has requirements for geographical failover the FI data (especial IP and BCS related).
Please let me know if HANA Db will support Geo Failover?
    Thanks,
    Ajay Pathak.

    Vitality,
Yes i am talking about Disaster recovery. I have NOT come across any document that talks about geo failover support for HANA.
I'm still keeping this question as unanswered to see if anyone else as some information about this.
    Thanks
    Ajay Pathak.
PS. Appreciate to response and sharing your insight. You may not recall but we have worked together in the past at Capital Group Companies on the BWA implementation project back in 2008, it is nice to have found you here.

  • Designer beginner's question: How to populate form with XML web service output?

    sorry, here is yet another Adobe Designer beginners question: <br /><br />My form uses a webservice data connection which returns <br />an xml-string like this: <br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <br /><CurrentWeather> <br />  <Location>Sion, Switzerland (LSGS) 46-13N 007-20E 481M</Location> <br />  <Time>Apr 26, 2007 - 09:50 AM EDT / 2007.04.26 1350 UTC</Time> <br />  <Wind> from the WSW (240 degrees) at 15 MPH (13 KT):0</Wind> <br />  <Visibility> greater than 7 mile(s):0</Visibility> <br />  <SkyConditions> partly cloudy</SkyConditions> <br />  <Temperature> 80 F (27 C)</Temperature> <br />  <DewPoint> 46 F (8 C) </DewPoint> <br />  <RelativeHumidity> 30%</RelativeHumidity> <br />  <Pressure> 29.88 in. Hg (1012 hPa)</Pressure> <br />  <Status>Success</Status> <br /></CurrentWeather> <br /><br />What is the simplest and recommended way to extract the <br />element fields to my form? <br /><br />Thank you very much an kind regards, <br />Hans Grund

    The question is still unanswered!
Let me give some details and break up the problem
    in more specific questions:
    - In Designer 8.1 I click new data binding --> wsdl -->
    http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?wsdl
A message box comes up and says "cannot load wsdl file"
    ==> 1. Question:
Why maybe refuses Designer to load the http-wsdl,
although this option is explicitly allowed?
    - When I save the wsdl to a file, Designer loads it
without any problems. The web service uses two input parameters
(CountryName and CityName) and returns an xml-string GetWeatherResult)
like the one in my first posting. I drag these fields from the binding view to my form, and it runs ok!
    - THE PROBLEM IS, THAT I NEET TO EXTRACT THE ELEMENT FIELDS
    FROM THE RESULT XML-STRING!
    ==> 2. Question:
How to extract xml element fields from wsdl output into a form?
    - I tried with eclipse and XmlSpy to build a modified wsdl file
with structured output definition, so that the specific element fields
show up in the data binding view and are usable to my form,
and the modified wsdl maps consistently to the web service result string.
So far without success: In the PDF -preview or Reader-
when the wsdl-binding is executed and the web service output
should show up in the result fields, just nothing happens.
    ==> 3. Question:
Can this strategy to provide a "modified wsdl" possibly succeed,
    and how?
    ==> 4. Question:
Is is possible -and how?- to check whether an xml string
is valid as web service output against the wsdl-definition?
    ==> 5. Question:
How to debug a web service connection with Designer?
    - Finally I tried to find a way to load the result xml-string
into a local var in the script editor and parse it, much like:
    var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM");
    xmlDoc.load(DataSet.MyForm.GetWeatherResult.rawValue);
    ==> 6. Question:
Is it possible -and how?- to use a framework like dotnet?
How to utilize SAX or DOM in Designer?
Many thanks and appreciations for your help!!

  • Macbook Pro Retina Question - processor

    Hey guys,
I'm seriously considering getting the Macbook Pro Retina display. I'm a graphic designer and this would be awesome for work. I'm thinking about getting the 2.6GHz and upgrading to the 16gb ram. I run alot of programs for work, basically the whole Adobe Master Suite. Sometimes I have Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects all open at the same time so I need a powerful computer. My question to you guys is, I was considering maybe getting the 2.7 GHz processor instead of the 2.6GHz, is there a big difference in performace between the 2.6 and 2.7GHz? Is it worth the extra money to get the 2.7GHz?

for the price difference?  not really worth it since it's not a big jump in speed.
if you'e going from 2.6GHz to 3GHz then I would suggest you go for it.
you're fine with the config you're thinking of purchasing.
I don't think an extra second or two in processing speed would make that much of an impact to what you'll be using it for.
