  • Sap administration docs

    Hi,
I am new to SAP community. I don't know any thing about SAP.
I know there are so many modules in SAP. I guess, Administration  would
be the same for all modules.
I am an Oracle DBA and would like to learn sap administration like Installation, configuration and upgrade. Can you please advise and send me the
    docs to [email protected]
Thank you very much and really appreciate your help.

    Hi,

  • Error in generating parameterized report in siebel 8.1.1.5

Hi, we recently upgraded to siebel 8.1.1.5. My report displays the values selected by the user in the parameter applet. I have done the following as indicated in the Reports Guide:
    1) Define parameters in Siebel UI
    Label: Report View Type
    Name: Report_View_Type
    Type: LOV
    Picklist: Plan List Report Type
    2) Declare the parameter in rtf template
    <?param@begin: Report_View_Type?>
    3) Upload template in Templates view
    4) Associate view
The parameter applet appears but after clicking the Submit button, Siebel goes idle. I can't do anything so I resort to closing the entire window. I don't seem to find any error logged in the xdo.log file:

We have no problems generating the regular BIP reports (non-parameterized) so I think we can rule out any patch installation issues. Appreciate any help :)

  • Configuring Web Services in 10.9 Help

    Hi All,
I cannot find any comprehensive documentation on the subject (short of a retelling of the server.app Help Files) but I'm just trying to set up a web server in 10.9. I have the server app installed. I'm using a separate DNS Server (that will also be my OD Master).  Right now all this is in a couple of VMs on a Mac Pro, isolated from my live network until I get the kinks worked out.  One vm (login.domain.com) for OD and DNS (split with our ISP for outside access) another (www.domain.com) for web services. I'm using the host machine as a web client to test things out.  The web host and my client both point to the DNS server and everything can ping everything else. Once I get it working in a test environment, I'll worry about bring it it out into the world and involving my gateway, ISP, etc.
The website is working ok where it is on an ubuntu server, so I know there are no major issues there. But I'd like to move it (long story).
In server.app, I named the webserver "machine" www.domain.com.  I pointed a record on the DNS Server to it and can ping it using the fqdn.  For the main site, I moved the default files (which look to be aliases) into a hidden folder and dropped by web site files into the directory (/library/server/web/data/sites/default).  The site does load. But it loads VERY slowly (it takes about 20-30 seconds for the initial page to load, once it's up, navigating between pages is fine as far as speed). Except, some of the navigation buttons don't work and from what it looks like, the PHP isn't rendering the page properly (links are not correct) so I'm led to believe there's something old/screwy in whatever version of PHP this thing has.
Why would the site be so slow to load?
How do I see what version PHP server 10.9 uses? Is it possible to upgrade if it's an older one?
Do I need to do anything other than add a site in the server.app for the subdomain (staff.domain.com, help.domain.com, etc)? Any special settings/forwarding to make this work?  As long as the DNS points the fqdn to the box, the web server should send the right site/subdomain to the client, shouldn't it?
Again, if someone could point be to the library of documents for managing this, I'd be grateful.  Apple's site seems to have a lot about wikis and so forth, and info on setting up the simplest of sites, but I don't care about those, I want a couple of websites with php and mysql, subdomains, etc.  It was all hosted in 10.5 (or 10.6) a while back, so unless they broke something on purpose, I know it can do it.  I head hurts from getting some info about httpd.conf from one blog, .htaccess from  another, etc. There MUST be a "setting up a Web Server in 10.9" or "Mavericks Server Administration" doc or something out there.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Yes, the functionality has departed System Preferences. Here is an updated guide to jump start your solution. It deals with the Terminal solution below.
There are two approaches to launching a web server in Mavericks.
    Terminalsudo apachectl {start|stop|restart}
    System Preferences solutions
Web Sharing Preference Pane (free, originally for Mt. Lion)
    VirtualHostX ($)

  • Using ACLs With iPlanet 4.1

    Hello,
I hope somebody can shed some light on the following:
I'm using iPlanet 4.1 on a UN*X box, and I need to restrict access to some web assets it serves. I read through the iPlanet administrator docs and learn't that it has access control built in via ACLs, in either user/group or host-ip modes.
It seems that [by default] user/group is verified by a challege/response system in which the server causes the browser to display a name/password popup dialog, etc, etc. My question is, is it possible to suppress this popup dialog, and use a login form instead?
Also, for user/password authentication mode, it seems I need to use an LDAP server. Is that always necessary? I was hoping I could get away with some sort of config file, which I would generate from, say db information.
The iPlanet 4.1 docs also say that it's possible to authenticate against an external database, if one writes against a C-library API to connect to the database. Going directly against a DB would be great, but this seems to be a more effort than I want to invest. Is there a Java API, perhaps?
    Thank you.

    To answer my own post:
iPlanet web server 4.1 officially supports only basic and certificate-based authentication; it has no support for forms-based authentication. No known unofficial way to hack this, either. iPlanet 6.0 web server supports forms-based authentication.
LDAP is not necessary for < 100 users. iPlanet supports "htaccess" authentication--a file based system; see docs 4538, 7980, 50267, available from http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=home
iPlanet 4.1 web server has no Java API.

  • Setup Assistant - (PC with two user ID's) Starts up every time - no prefs

We have 2 ipods, so in my Windows XP PC I've set up one library for "userA", and another for "User B." User A is just a user, UserB is an administrator.
Setup assistant pops up every time I start under UserB (the admin). So, based upon the many threads on this, I looked for a prefs file. In the C\Docs & Settings\userA\ there is an Applications Data folder with several applications folders, including an Apple Computer folder and an iTunes subfolder with the iTunes prefs file.
But userB's (the Administrator) - Docs and Settings has no Applications data folder at all. I tried copying the prefs file from userA into the All Users folder, with no luck. Now I'm hopelessly confused. How can I set up a prefs file when the admin seems to have no Applications data folder at all? (And why is this anyway - seems that the admin account should have all the info, not the ordinary user with few privileges.)
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
To eliminate your worries, two user accounts have the same user name doesn’t mean that they have the same SID. Moreover, the user’s SID remains the same even after it has been renamed.
The SID for domain account/group consists of a
Domain Identifier and a Relative Identifier. Domain Identifier is unique in every domain within a forest, and a Relative Identifier is unique within domain. It is unlikely that two user accounts with or without the same account
name from two forests have the same SID.
The Technet article you mentioned is talking about duplicate SIDs instead of “duplicate computer name or user account”, I will submit a change request to Microsoft about this.
If there are duplicate SIDs when you create forest trust, you need to delete one of them as the article guides.

  • FAL_SERVER and FAL_CLIENT

    Hi to all,
I am going throught the Dataguard Concepts and Administration Docs.
    I have one doubt.
For Eg: My primary db is named as : PRD
Standby DB is name as: PRDSTBY
Now with respect to the init parameters, I mentioning
FAL_CLIENT = PRDSTBY (in PRD init file)
FAL_SERVER = PRD (in prd but this works when switch over right?)
FAL_CLIENT = PRDSTBY (in prdstby but this works when switch over right?)
    FAL_SERVER = PRD (in PRDSTBY)
    Is my understanding is correct?
    Regards,
    Vijayaraghavan K

    Hi
FAL_CLIENT is the one that is requesting the logs to be applied (the standby server)
FAL_SERVER is the one that is sending the logs to be applied (the primary server)
when you want to test failover and want to make your primary as standby and standby as primary, then the roles become opposite and the FAL_CLIENT, FAL-SERVER would be different.
There is a good paper by Alejandro Varjas where he explains the concepts with a very good demo.
    Hope this helps

  • User created folders that default to read and write for everyone

    Greetings,
We're running Mac OS X Server 10.5.5. We've had trouble with people trying to put files into folders that were created by a colleague because the folder created by the colleague is just read accessible to everyone else. Is there any way to make it so that folders created by certain employees default to read&write for everyone?
I would normally just reset everything so that all folders were r&w accessible to everyone, but we have some private data folders that cannot be made public.
    Thanks in advance.

Managing permissions can get a bit tricky. You should check out the docs
    http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/
I believe the File Services Administration doc would be a great place to start.
Not trying to be smug, just that there is a hierarchy of privileges, how they take precedence over each other, and how they are inherited.
Also, if you post how exactly your shares are set up, who has access to what folders and shares, and what ACLS are set in addition to standard unix settings, that would help.

  • Tracking Access and Usage Information

    Hi,
Is there a way to collect user VDI logins and logouts, along with other relevant information, like the DTU token, and possibly other usage information ? We provide open access to SunRay DTUs to connect to our virtualization platform, and we should be able to collect information like "who was connected, from when to when, on which client, etc.".
I've found the file "/var/cacao/instances/vda/logs/cacao.0" to log some of this information, but there is no timestamp in this file:
FINE: thr#1466 Logging user XXXXXX into desktop [202]XXXXX (some UUID)
I could not find information about auditing or usage logging in the Administration doc.
    Any other pointer ?
    Thanks for your help,
    Laurent

    Hi Laurent,
unfortunately, we do not provide a public/stable API for retrieving such auditing information yet.
As you already pointed out, there is some information in the cacao logs (but as stated that is not a stable interface). Regarding the missing timestamp, the log messages should always be two lines - first line with timestamp and source of the event, second line with the actual log message.
The other possibility to get some of the information would be to read it directly from the VDI database, but again you would be on your own here as direct access to the database is not supported (due to the fact that the database layout might change in future VDI versions).

  • AppData Roaming Issues

Hi - I have a policy that redirects AppData folder separate from the user's Documents, Desktop, Favorites, etc. Each folders are separated from each other so redirection happens on all folders when users login into TS server. The issue with AppData is when
the user logs in to a local laptop as themselves, it also does roaming locally to the laptop which causes the following scenario:
    1. Local AppData streams over a slow bandwidth link (vpn, ptp, dsl).
    2. Local AppData settings (i.e. user personalized settings, task bar shortcuts, etc.) doesn't work when the user is not plugged in to the domain network.
    Question:
    1. I was wondering if there's a way to create a policy that will detect if the user is on a slow link network (i.e. remote, vpn, etc).
    2. Is there a way to leave AppData cache when user is not in the domain network leaving user's personalized settings in their laptops?
    Please kindly advise.
    Cheers - DB

    Hi,
For using Folder Redirection to redirect Appdata, only Appdata roaming can be redirected.
Besides, Folder redirection applies only to applications that use the Windows shell APIs to redirect common folder paths. For example, if an application writes a file to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming,
the file is written to the local profile and not redirected to the network location.
Regarding Folder Redirection, the following article can be referred to for more information.

Yes, we can use Group Policy to configure slow link threshold.
Regarding slow link detection, the following article can be referred to for more information.

Usually, Folder Redirection is used together with Offline Files which is enabled by default.
Offline Files makes network files available to an end user when a network connection to the server is unavailable or slow.

  • CME 4.0 bulk speed dials

I need to use the bulk speed dial feature in CME 4.0. I have set up the lists and tested calling.. All this works fine. However, I need to enter pauses in the dial string. The administration doc indicates that a comma should insert a one second pause. This does not work and also seems kind of wierd for a csv file.. Anyone get this to work??
    Thanks!
    -Patrick

    Hello Patrick,
being that it is a csv(comma seperated variables) you'll probably have problems with this. To get the csv file to accept the commas as part of your string you will have to put quotes around it. Example
    "123,,,456,,,",test,test

  • What is concurrent programming

    Hi
    what is concurrent programming?
    any links or any Idea?

Not sure what you mean by "concurrent programming" - do you perhaps mean "concurrent processing" ? If so, concurrent processing is the mechanism within EBS thru which batch processes/programs are scheduled. More information in the System Administration docs for your EBS version at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/applications-167706.html
