BW cache settings and WebI

Hello,
we're trying to tune the BW cache for WebI queries, we'd like to change the default cache settings for a number of queries, including ones used for BO universes.
I'd like to know if this changes will be picked and used by WebI or if it is not sensitive to such changes (Cache Mode and Persistence Mode).
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Pablo,
I haven't tried yet but the OLAP cache should be used by WebI when it accesses the queries. You can ensure it does in transaction RSRCACHE by looking at the last access of a cached query. Could also look at the BI stats (if you have installed them and turned then on of course).
Regarding the cache settings, I would personally recommend using the persistent cache (across App Servers if you have more than one app server) into a Cluster table (or Transparent table if the data set is quite large). Can find more details here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/d9/31363dc992752de10000000a114084/frameset.htm
You could also look into MDX cache instead of OLAP cache, but I haven't played with it yet so I'm not sure it would help with WebI. Anyone else did?
Hope it helps...

  • Settings and Web Photo Gallery

I am trying to use the Automate > Web Photo Gallery feature of Photoshop CS4. Why is this not installed with CS5?
I have downloaded the Optional Plug ins only to find it simply refuses to work! I have the same settings on my MacBook and that works fine, but the MacPro refuses to display the Web Photo Gallery in the Autotmate menu.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? In the mean time I will have to use CS4.
Also - Is there an automated way to import all the settings that were used with CS4 version of Photoshop? (and all the rest of CS5).
Surely this ought to be a brain dead obvious feature to add to the UPGRADE of Photosop. All I want to do is upgrade and carry on using photoshop, not spend days trying to find the previous settings in CS4 then get them imported into CS5.
PS - can someone remind me why I bothered to spend the money to upgdade?

I think the matter has come up in other threads, but I don’t know if a 64bit-version is in the books; you could try doing a Forum Search and/or looking in the Feature Request Section if you can add your support to such a request or start a thread.

  • Database cache settings for 4.13 on NT 4

The database cache settings and the documentation have always been
    confusing.
I have about 35000 entries in my directory. If I have enough available ram
should I try to put all the entries into ram? The default setting is a 1000,
should I change it to 35000? Will I notice any great speed increases.
And the second setting has to do with index cache. Should I try to get that
into ram also? My id2entry.db2 file is about 40MBs. Should I change the
default from 10MBs to 40MBs? Will there be a significant increase in speed?
    Thanks.

Thanks Russ H for your quick reply.  I am still fairly new to FCP X coming from using FCE not iMovie.
The project I'm working on I had already started before posting yesterday.  Is it possible to change the settings for what I have already done, or no I need to start all over again?
    Thanks again

  • Setting OF LD_LIBRARY_PATH AND WEB CACHE PROBLEM [SHOWING PREVIOUS PAGE ]

    Dear Members,
I would request for help regarding setting of LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Oracle 11G Application server and web cache problem when any single text file edit and save the result should not be changed . it shows previous page result.
    *1. Where to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Oracle11g Application Server (10.3.0) ? [  like in 9ias we set in opmn.xml . ] Where is opmn.xml file in oracle11g or which files contained LD_LIBRARY_PATH?*
*2. When we created program generated report it shows correct result after some changes in file and generate again it shows first means previous page result as it is not take changes in that file. Even we tried out side made one .text file and open edit and save. It's given same result. So What is the problem regarding it?*
It is the matter of  Browser Cache or WEB Cache. Where is the settings of it?
*3. How to connect database (oracle11g Release 2) through OCI driver?*
    Regards
    Vipul Patel

If you're compiling it yourself, you should set the library path then. If not, you can try something like this:
    env DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path/to/add-on-libraries orca ...
but I'm not sure it will work.

  • Clearing CACHE and Web Previews in Safari 4.0.3???

I had a problem where an old page was loading in a window of Safari and it was because the cache page was loading, not the real, new updated page. (Discovered by opening in FireFox...)
Now I see that in /users/myname/Library/Caches there are 2 folders related to Safari and each had over 500 mb of stuff: One is com.apple.Safari and then the folder web pages preview; the other is the folder Safari in that same Caches folder. I used the command EMPTY CACHE in Safari, but it seems all these hundreds of files were still there.
Any way to have them periodically (or upon startup of Safari or the Mac) automatically deleted?
    Any 'danger' to do this?
    Thanks for comments!

    Greetings,
Caches cannot be emptied automatically, nor can Web Page Previews, which is used for the Top Sites and Cover Flow features in Safari. You can empty those folders, but Web Page Previews will simply be refreshed with new images as you browse.
If you don't want to use the Top Sites or Cover Flow features in Safari 4.0.3, you can disable it completely, and then you could empty those folders (com.apple.Safari and Web Page Previews) and then Lock the folders so any cache files from browsing would be deleted when you quit Safari.

  • Properly and accurately calculating application cache settings

    Hello everyone.
We are running Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 and one of the dataforms we have set up is quite heavy (it includes several DynamicCalc members with considerable ammount of scripting) and it fails to load from time to time, just saying "Cannot open dataform X. Check logs" and such.
I have tried to increase cache sizing in the databases of the Essbase application (right clic on each database > edit > properties > caches), as well as buffer sizes and commit blocks.
Little by little I have managed to improve performance by modifying the above mentioned caches (it crashes less often), but still I guess it's nuts to infinitely increase caches to make sure it works.
So, my question is: Is there a way to calculate the accurate cache settings for a given application?
    My current settings are:
    Buffer size: 200 KB
    Short buffer size: 200 KB
    Index cache setting: 30720 KB
Data file cache setting: 61440 KB
    Data cache setting: 51200 KB
    Commit blocks: 30000
Do you think these are accurate?
    Thanks a lot,
    G.S.Feliu

You haven't really provided enough information to be honest, for example are you running a 64bit system?
But that is rhetorical, as usual the first port of call is the DBAG. I don't see why a link should be posted, you must have access to it already if you're administering a production system. That will point out things like that the Data file cache setting is only relevant if Direct I/O is being used and that the index size should be at least as big as the file if memory allows.
Commit blocks....is interesting, personally I have set it to 0 in some projects and seen some improvement but as usual testing is the key.
However their is a performance tuning guide out there that you may find very useful:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/pa/entry/epm_11_1_2_epm1
that focuses on the infrastructure a bit more. Bit complicated though and I would thoroughly recommend recording a set of benchmarks before applying any of those changes, and applying said changes one by one or you'll never know what is good and what is not so good.
Learn from the pain others have already endured ;-)
    Good Luck

The details you're providing are very helpful, Maj_Dad. With airplane mode enabled,
there would be no message because that disables celluar data. I would recommend
tying that mode with WiFi to see if it still happens. It sounds like this issue
has something to do with one of the applications on the device.

    Hi Ken --
We are just about wrapped up with our Oracle9iAS Release 2 (9.0.3) version for Windows NT. As you've seen, we have released the 903 version for a number of Unix platforms (Solaris, HP-UX, HP-Tru64, Linux) already and the Windows platform will follow shortly.
For the moment, if you're running on Windows and want to use the J2EE 1.3 functionality, you can download the pure Java OC4J 903 distribution available from OTN. This is the same set of Java code that is the 9iAS distribution.
    cheers

Does anyone know where the Oracle Web Cache Administration and Deployment Guide is?
    From Oracle9iAS Documentation Library CD-ROM,
it says this document is in OTN. However, I just can't find this document in OTN.
    Any idea?

    Rick -
try this link on for size:
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/1022doc_otn/caching.102/a90372/toc.htm
To get to the (iAS documentation, try this path through technet
    Top Level
-> click documentation link on RHS
-> click Oracle9i Application Server link
-> click Generic Documentation Library link (HTML) or (PDF)
That should get you to the documentation library, from which you can view all the component doc, install guides, performance guides, etc.

That is usually the fix but try this now.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. See if that helps.
You can also try this - quit Safari. From the home screen - Double tap the home button and your recent apps appear the bottom. Tap and hold down on the Safari icon until it wiggles. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Tap the home button twice. Restart the iPad.

Do you have the DISPLAY environment variable set correctly? This error is typically seen if the EM Website is unable to connect to an X-Server.
