BW-Lumira by using universe

Hello All,
I'm trying to use Lumira to explore data in BW infocube. To do this, I've created a relational connection and built and universe.
When I select a very few characterists (key and/or text) and ratio, it's work.
But as the number of objects (characterstics + ratios) is higher than 6, there is an error message without text. I've just caught this details (in bellow).
I cann't use the lastest version of product, but this my this configuration:
Lumira SP15
BI4.0 SP4
BI7.0 SP14
Is there a recommandation about universe, relational connections or lumira dataset creation ?
What are BI4 services called during the reading of data by Lumira ?

As you probably know, with SP17 of Lumira, you can connect (with some limitations) directly to a BEx query.
However, to do that, your BW version seems very low. Direct connection would require SP23 on your codeline

It's not clear if you are filtering at design-time, this is really a must.
Yes, there are some Webi processing server setting (Maximum Character Stream Size ) that need to be changed. Described here http://scn.sap.com/community/lumira/blog/2013/10/07/a-forray-into-lumira-sp12--new-features-and-findings
also, the Data Federation Service will need its own dedicated APS with appropriate XMx value increased (4g)
Is your BW really without "enhancement pack 1" ? if so, that will be a problem, even for your BusinessObjects integration. the PAM for 4.0 SP04 requires BW 7.01 SPS 06+ as a minimum baseline for interoperability. Are you really 7.00 and not 7.01 ?
If yes, then this will present a blocking problem when working with support..

Configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 When Using Universal Adapter Exclusively

Hello experts,
I have been working for a few days in trying to configure a fiscal calendar with universal adapter flat files as the only data source because Great Plains is the data source and since Oracle does not support it, we use universal adapters. We have had limited success with this but in configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 and doing normal configuration things such as configuring fiscal calendars and mapping GL accounts to group accounts using the Universal Adapter in DAC, there is virtually no documentation. In fact, when I Googled the universal adapter version of the group account codes file, there were 0 Google entries for it.
I am sending this new thread in the hope that someone out there has successfully configured OBI apps 7.9.6.3 using the Universal Adapter and can point me to documentation of any sort other than the normal Oracle OBI Apps Config Doc which only briefly mentions it and then takes file examples that are OOTB and unconfigured in any way.
Specifically, I need assistance in getting fiscal calendars working with the Universal Adapter. I have W_MCAL_DAY_D populated and all of the Gregorian calendar tables. However, the remaining W_MCAL* tables only have one row in each of them. I have an SR open about it but no success resolving it yet. While doing the configuration work, we tried to map GL accounts to group accounts but there is no account range in the Universal Adapter source file unlike the Oracle EBS version so I am unsure on how to configure group accounts. Oracle documentation only refers to Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, and JDEdwards. I am unable to find anything regarding the Universal Adapter.
If anyone has done this sort of OBI apps configuration before, please respond or send me URLs for related documentation. I am completely stuck and SRs are not yet helping so I thought I would try this.

You will have to create 20 Application Roles matching the Responsibility Names.
Use one of the following methods to set up application roles:
Create application roles in the policy store with the same names as existing responsibilities or groups in the source applications. Then, add the new application roles as members of Oracle BI-specific application roles groups, and the users will inherit this membership based on their own responsibilities or roles in the OLTP application.
Add new Oracle BI-specific responsibilities (Oracle EBS and Siebel CRM Applications) or roles (PeopleSoft Enterprise applications) in the source applications, making sure their names match the object security application roles in Oracle BI Applications, and assign OLTP users to these new groups. The users will then inherit the application role membership in the same way as described in the preceding method.

Its not possible to get the list of unused universe directly; however you can run the following query in the Query Builder tool which might help you:
Select SI_LAST_ACTION_DATE from CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_KIND='Universe'
It would list down all the universes with thier last used date; you can then filter out what are the most unused universes.

Use Universe Builder to create universe on DSO

I have heard that Universe Builder is able to create universes directly on to DSOs in SAP BW. I have also heard that the SQL generated by Builder is more efficient than that which Designer generates. However, how do you use Universe Builder to create universes connecting to SAP BW? None of the materials I have found show how to connect to SAP sources.
Please do not post any solutions regarding using Designer to create the universe as we are specifically trying to prototype new methods.

You can do this through BAPI 'REEX_FI_BAPI'.
I study to use LUM but my conclusion was that will be more easier to do this ampliation.

The concept of "services" in Windows doesn't exist in Linux.
i thought it's would be great to startup the database in less time then installing. if i would install the software and using backup data file recover then is it a consistent recovery or inconsistent recovery.All recoveries that complete are consistent. Not all backups are consistent, but when you do a recovery, the redo stream is applied from the archivelog files to make the recovery "consistent".
so when ever need to recover what should require for consistent recovery so that i can say without this all other type of recovery jobs are inconsistent.there is no such thing as "inconsistent" recovery. You are either able to recover from your backups, or you are not able to recover. If you are able to recover, you are "consistent". Now, mind you, that does NOT necessarily mean your recovery will recover all data up to the point of failure. your ability to do that depends on having all the necessary backups, including archivelogs and ultimately, intact online redo logs. Without that, the best you can do is a point-in-time recovery. But it will still be "consistent" with the point in time to which you recover.
i am asking because as far i know i understand that no client would agree to go for inconsistent recovery. as i mentioned i am a new comer i have lot of confusion please if possible give some details. Well, I wouldn't agree to go for an inconsistent recovery, as no such thing exists. If you are talking about point-in-time recovery with potential data loss - it depends entirely on the client, the application, and the tolerance for data loss. Banking transactions cannot afford any loss of transaction data and so must have very robust systems with comprehensive, multi-level backups. Some other systems can be surprisingly forgiving.

A universal may work but reliability tends to be poor..
You are much better using another airport .. extreme or express.. even a second hand older one.
Or do not use wireless bridge or repeater.. simply run ethernet or use EOP adapters to a second WAP run independently of the main router.. it is far more reliable and far faster solution .. wireless bridge/repeater will halve your wireless speed.

How to use Universal Container in the DAC

Has anybody used the universal container to populate the Data warehouse?
I am extracting Psft 9.0 data using psft adapter but I have additional home grown Payroll system and wants to bring the data to the existing warehouse.
I am not finding any documents from Oracle on "Universal Container".
Any help is appreciated

The Universal container is to use the universal adapter in (so to use universal adapter in informatica).
However, you can just create your own container and use this to load your own system (with informatica!)

Grouping using Universe

Hi,
I am working on a CR using Universe as data source for ticket totals by day/week/month in the following format
Date     NewTickets ClosedTickets     No of Update Activities
Mar-09     90                  93                         1978
Apr-09     43                  86                         2874
every ticket has open date, close date and no of update activities. All I can get from universe is
ticketno opendate closedate activitydate activitytype
100        03/01/09     03/05/09 03/01/09      INIT

100        03/01/09     03/05/09 03/01/09      CB
101        03/02/09                     03/01/09      INIT

user will select a daterange
If I group by opendate and there are no open tickets on 03/03/09, i will miss the activity which is done on 03/03/09..same thing if group by close date or activity date.
I need to group the data on all dates between selected date range, not on opendate or closed date or activity date.
Any Ideas?

Seems like you'll need to edit your query to include something like:
<table>.opendate between <date prompt start> and <date prompt end>
OR
<table>.closedate between <date prompt start> and <date prompt end>
OR
<table>.activitydate between <date prompt start> and <date prompt end>
This should give you all the dates between the prompted range.

Login Failed error while creating a CR using Universe

Hi,
We created an Universe in SAP Business Objects system using SAP BW as source system and we selected sales cube for the universe.
For ex universe name is : xyz
Now i want to use this universe in crystal reports, we are using CR2008.
I logged in to Crystal Reports>Blank Report>Create New Connection>Universes>selected xyz universe and i got the keyfigures and chars in query panel for the selected universe, dragged and dropped some chars and kf's in to result objects.
After this when we click Ok it is giving an error message saying that Login Failed
We are unable to get the solution for this anybody please guide us to solve this.

NetAuthAgent & nmbd suddenly active after using University wifi?

Hello -
I'm trying to ascertain if I am at risk...
About 1 week ago I connected to the University of Minnesota's "guest" wifi network. I was asked to provide an email address and that's all. I was online.
But I use Little Snitch so granted access to a flurry of temporary connections to when they popped up as I was in a rush to connect. Possibly a bad move, but I was guided through this process by a U of MN tech guy so I felt ok about it. It worked for the weekend and that was that. I didn't use my email or login to any websites, I just pulled up a YouTube video for a group's presentation.
All seemed well... But, when I got home, I received 2 Little Snitch notifications: NetAuthAgent and nmbd. I don't know if any of this is normal but NetAuthAgent showed up as ~myusername but nmbd showed up as root.
Also, my hard drive space also went down to zero on a random instance when Safari froze up, but I don't have a screen grab of that.
Also, in my Finder, there was a "PC Server" device listed under Shared. This was new. This freaked me out.
Not only have I been unable to stop NetAuthAgent and nmbd from prompting me for access every single time I start my computer, the times I have experimented/troubleshot the issue and give them permission, I'm getting the PC Server listed under Shared.
I've run MacScan and I can block it out by denying it access via Little Snitch, but I wanted to ask the digital Jedi out there if this was normal, because when I try to click "Connect To", it give me the following error...
I've seen NetAuthAgent & nmbd before, but not like this.
In summary, these instances started happening constantly after I used the University's network and has not gone away.

actually i didn't have to delete any proxy settings, i left those alone and deleted the wifi network i used at the university:
Sys Prefs > Network > Advanced > Airport > Preferred Networks
once i located the name of the potentially problematic wifi network (U of M Guest) that you said i might be connecting to under preferred networks, i clicked the " - " (minus symbol) to remove it. after that I clicked "OK" and it went back to Network (sys pref) where i clicked "Apply".
finally, I quit everything and restarted my mac. when it came back on, the requests for nmbd were gone and nothing i do can recreate the NetAuthAgent alert.
i'm also not seeing anything under shared that shouldn't be there!

i'm going to sleep on it and give it 48 hours... i'm sure it'll be fine, but when i verify it's gone, i'll come back and hit you with some Correct Answer points. i wouldn't have thought to delete the preferred networks without you guiding me to the Sharing AND Network pref panes.

You need to create a universe for Relational SQL databases. Universe is a must. The reason you create universe is for the end users. WebI is designed for end users to create their own reports. It is a self service reporting tool. In order to do that, you need universe which allows users to query database using SQL without knowing SQL language.
If you don't want to create a universe for reporting then you can use Crystal Reports instead of WebI
