BW Master Data archiving - possible?

Dear Experts!
I have a question, regarding SAP BW archiving. Is master data archiving possible in SAP BW 7.02? If it's possible, what is the solution for that?
Tkanks in advance!

Hi,
I am thinking about creating a "twin" object of the one that you want to archive (identical).
Once create, refresh the new object with the information that you want to keep, and dont refresh any more.
But if you are interested in doing several archives and keep the data within that object, you can create a new field within the new Twin Characteristic as "key field" to store the date of when you do the archiving.
I hope that it helps!

  • Vendor Master Data Archiving

    Hi,
I wanted to archive vendor master data. I got program - SAPF058V which gives FI,Vendor Master Data Archiving: Proposal list.
This program checks whether and which Vendor Master data can be archived or not. I am getting error message after running this program with selection of one of the Vendor saying that "Links stored incompletely". Can someone pls help on this
    Thanks...Narendra

    Hi,
Check if you have an entry in table FRUN for PRGID 'SAPF047'. Other option is set the parameter 'FI link validation off'' with the flag on (ie: value 'x'). Check the help for this flag, surely this vendor have a code of customer. Perhaps you must try to delete this link in customer and vendor master before.
    I hope this helps you,

  • MATERIAL MASTER DATA ARCHIVING

    Dear Experts,
I have archive material master data from the data base.
As a prerequisite for material master data archive,
Purchase orders for the materials are archived already.
    Invoices documents are archived already
    Material documents are archived already
No material stocks exists for these materials.
Please tell me deletion flag is to be set for the material at client level ?
    Table MARA
    Field LVORM

you can delete and archive a material master at any level.
If you want archive the full material master, then you have to set the deletion indicator in MM06 on top level. if you just want archvie a storage location view, then you set your deletion indicator at this level only, as well in MM06.
In general MM06 is not necessary, as the SARA MM_MATNR write program allows to archive materials without having a deletion flag.

  • Is SAP MDM master data search possible through Enterprise Search?

    Hi Everyone
I was looking at finding if the SAP MDM master data search is possible through Enterprise Search?
Is so, Please provide a bit of technical guide on the same.
    Regards
    Navneet

    Hi Navneet,
first releases of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search featured a preliminary connector to federate SAP MDM's search functionality. However, as no object level access authorization control could be implemented on the current MDM APIs, we have discontinued to deliver that prototype connector. We will be back with access-authorization-controlled connectivity in one of the future releases.

  • Change description general ledger master data not possible for some languag

    Hi all,
We have a lot of language translation on tab Key word/translation for all G/L accounts. English is our log in language. When we want to change the description in Finnish, Norwegian and Danish this is not possible (this lines are grey, only display mode). We can´t remove these lines and we can´t change them. It is possible for all other languages except this languages and English. Does anyone have a clue why this is not possible?
    Thanks in advance!
    BR L

    Hi Lisa,
I was asking if you can maintain a new description (for an account number where no description in one of the mentioned languages is entered) so the message "Description already exists in language XX" should not appear in that case...
In general, account descriptions are stored (for chart of accounts / language key) in table SKAT thus you can check the entries already available.
Did you contact the user-authorization responsible which authorization objects are assigned? FS00 contains authorization objects for account auth. group (F_SKA1-BES), company code (F_SKA1_BUK) and the whole chart of accounts (F_SKA1_KTP), maybe some change authorization (activity 02)  is missing?

  • A tax code in vendor's master data?

    Hi All,
I'd like to know if in vendor's master data is possible to fill a tax code which, than, is called managing FB60.
    Thanks
    Gandalf

    Hello,
There is no such tax code can be maintained in Vendor Master Data.
These tax codes are defined at country level.(Input and Output)
You can use them at the time of transactions based on the invoice.

  • Updating the Master data Infoobjects attributes from the Portal

    Dear All,
There is a requirement where through portal i want to  retrive the master data infoobject ( based on the value seleceted for that infoobject by the user ) and its attributes in the portal , edit them and save them back so that the updated values goes back to BW master data infoobject data base tables and updates the value.
Eg . I have Natural Account master data infoobject in the BW with attributes fucntional area and expense center.Based on the user selection of any values for the Natural account lets say 01110 , then for 01110 natural account the portal should display the correspoding attributes values of fucntional area and expense center.Lets take this values as 10 , 20 respectively for fucntional area and expense center . What I want to do now is to change these attrbute values to 30 and 40 and I would like to save it back as the changed attribute values for that natural account for 01110 with new attribute values 30 & 40 respectively for fucntional area and expense center .
Is this possible through portal and BW?
Any idea on this would be appriciated.
    Regards,
    Ankit

    Hi Ankit,
this is a quite tough but not impossible requirement. Maintaining Master data is possible with Visual Composer and some function modules (at least that's one way I know). However it could be a bit complicated maintaining attributes Master data depending on your data model. This How might help getting familiar with this topic:

  • Data clean for master data

We've got a lots of obsolete material master, some are used for kinds of orders and some are never used (just created by mistake).
The functional consultant has set "mark for deletion" for those master data to prevent from being used again.
The problem is when end user create orders, they still can select those master data, when the process the order, they are told this master data is not useable. Our end user ask to make those master data disappear when they select.
Master data archiving is highly depend on application data archiving, we do not want to archive 10+ objects to delete just one kind of master data. Is there a simple a way to make the master data  disappear when end user select it?

no there is no simple way.
if they were never in use, then you can archive right away.
if they are used in data, then this data has to be archived first, that is just the way it is.
you cannot expect to get the goods from ebay before you have won the bid.Everything has its logical order, just deleting data leaves inconsistencies in your system and I guess this is a bigger issue.
I actually would ask what is wrong that your users use materials that is marked for deletion.
Did you create duplicates and they do not know which one to use? Did you delete the wrong materials, materials that are still in stock and have still demand from the market?
The match codes can be amended (new match code, or making use of the user exit in the search helps) to hide materials that are marked for deletion.
Set the material and sales status to restrict the usage, see my blog: Material master deletion flag and blocking activities

  • Master Data Sequence load

Hi guys i 've load data to an infocube and i have a lot blank records, i've read that this is because the master data not was loaded or loaded after transactional data, but my infocube have a lot of characteristics that have master data, is necesary to load every one before load tha trasactional data or there´s a way to load all the master data in one step instead of one by one?
I hope that somebody could help with this
    Regards...

    Hi Oscar,
It is recommended that you load the master data before the trsancational data so that the data cna be activated i.e. Sids are created for the char values and ready to use at the time of transactional data load. Are you doing a lot of master data look ups in your update or transfer rules, or laoding the master data attributes to the cube? If not, then you really should not have "blank" values.
You can go ahead and load the master data after the transactional data too.
You do not have to load all the chars each time. You can set up the delta for the master data where possible. For others, you can judge whether they have to be laoded everyday or may be once a week or once a month.
    Hope this helps...

  • ARCHEIVING Customer Master Data

How to archieve a customer master data(ALL) which has been marked for deletion.

    Hi,
    Check these notes:
Note 75340 - Archiving of customers with SD dependencies
Note 77670 - FI - Master data archiving Delete deletion flag
Check in tcode AOBJ for object FI_ACCRECV, that you need archive before these objects with records related with the debitor:
    FI_DOCUMNT
    FI_MONTHLY
    RV_LIKP
    SD_VBAK
    SD_VBKA
    SD_VBRK

  • Standard method to archive/delete all vendor master data

    Hi every abap expert
Does anyone know how to archive all vendor master data
    in a client?
If use T-code : SARA . The vendor master data is required to mark deletion flag before archiving.
Any standard T-code can set all vendor master data with  marked deletion flag ?

    Hi Boris!
Give XK99 a try. With XK06 a single change is possible and in FI also FK06 is available.
When XK99 has problems with field LFA1-LOEVM, then you can make easily a CATT for XK06.

  • Archive BW master data

Is it possible to archive master data in BW? I don't see any option to archive..
    Alok

    Hi,
You can delete masterdata (rightklick infoobject -> delete masterdata), but only if there a no referencing records present in any infoprovider. Otherwise the information chain: Fact record -> DIM -> SID gets broken; since when you delete masterdata the corresponding SID table entry gets deleted. The system does not allow this. The deletion run can be time consuming since the system checks this condition for the masterdata to be deleted. I don't think there is an archiving solution for masterdata yet in BW.
    Kind regards, Patrick Rieken.

  • Macro Question: Possible to change master data?

I have found a few macros that supposedly work to change the master data for infoobjects (MATLOC_SET()...etc.) however when lauching these in the planning book i can see no change in the infoobject master data.
The idea is to change an attribute of an infoobject to remove the item from the selection within the planning book (i.e. change the planning type from A to B). The client wants this done directly from the planning book via a macro. Is this possible with the macro above or do I need to use a Bapi?
    Thanx!

    Thank you for the response!
The macro that I am using is directly from the 9Aexamples template. When executing the macro it asks for the field name and the value to be entered, trying various field names we have seen no change in the master data.
The reason for this is that we are working with a client that has thousands of products with various profiles. The client would like to have the capacity to execute a macro and remove the product out of the selection directly from the planning book. We thought this would be possible by changing the master data for the infoobject navagational attributes via a macro.
Any additional help would be appreciated!  Thanx again!

  • Is it possible to change a master data key ?

    Hi Experts,
i'd like to know if it is possible in any way to change/update the key of a master data table.
Reason: All of our projects have a certain nomenclature. Now I realized one project that does not follow that nomenclature and would like to change it accordingly (0PROJECT -> /BI0/PPROJECT).
The connection to the cubes is through SIDs, therefore I cannot remove the current record in the master data table and create a new (the correct) one.
I also cannot reload the cube after I possibly had changed the master data table.
For me, the simpliest would be to just update the key portion in /Bi0/PPROJECT and I think modern database systems would allow this (we are running BI on top of DB2), but may be I'm wrong.
I tried the update in the maintenance dialog in RSA1. Stupid enough it allows me to change the key and even the subsequent Save would work. However, by opening the table afterwards again, the old (worng) values are displayed again.
Would someone know how this could work ?

    Hi,
Are you trying to change the value  of a master data key for a particular record in the P table?
if this is your requirement, then the answer is NO. i don't think so..changing it manually doesn't help you.
I suggest you to load the same record from your source system with new master data key value and all other attributes with the same data as the old record.
Now you will have two records in your P table( one with the old value and another with the new one)
There is no harm in having the old record in your P table...deleting of any master data is risky and not appreciable ( but possible)
You need to use this new master key value in your transaction loads which will intrun connect to the master data using SIDs
By using the new value in your transaction loads, the old one will not visible in any of your reports...but will just sit in the P table with no use, which is still fine for you.
However, to laod this new value (in both master and transaction data) you need to get in touch with the functional team.
Modifying the data manually in BI/BW ( Unless there is an invalid data from source to PSA) will lead to inconsistencies and reconciliation issues. - NOT Advisable
