BW on HANA refresh - memory uplift needed in the target?
Hi,
We are planning to refresh our production BW on HANA system to a test system using DB copy method. Currently the production backup size is 1.6 TB, current memory usage is 1.1 TB & peak memory usage is 1.7 TB.
In the test system, we have only 1 TB memory. In order to do the HANA copy, do we need to uplift the memory? Or just the file system uplift to match the production HANA appliance would be sufficient?

I have never faced this scenario , But I feel it will work in your case.
You can restrict the automatic loading of table to memory.it will save your memory utilization.
How to free up memory in HANA? Is it possible to unload Table from memory?
4) Set your tables not to automatically load
You can configure tables in HANA not to automatically pre-load on startup using: ALTER TABLE table_name PRELOAD NONE. This is good practice in development systems, because it means you can restart the HANA system faster (as tables won't be preloaded) and HANA uses less memory by default.

First, how do I create my own favorite theme template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here. -

The list covers the early iMacs with Intel processors that shipped with either OS 10.4 or 10.5 and have only two RAM slots. As you can see, some have limits to what version of OSX you can install. If the step rkaufmann requests does not narrow down your model, you can do one more thing.
While the "About this Mac" window is open, click the "More Info..." button at the bottom of that window to get this (assuming you are really running OS 10.5.8 as shown in your profile):

If your iMac shipped with only 1GB RAM, I fear it is one of the earliest models that cannot be upgraded all the way to Yosemite. -

You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in your model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.

You can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store witht a model 2,1 MacBook. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. As for programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

You posted in the PPC iMac forum, but there was not a 24" PPC iMac. There are several 24" Intel models.
To tell what memory you need it is best to check the exact model identifier, click the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware and what does it show as the Model Identifier? With that you can go to either http://www.everymac.com and find the appropriate iMac and see what the correct memory is. Or, you can go to OWC, http://www.macsales.com or Crucial, http://www.crucial.com and see what they offer for that model iMac. They are the trusted sources of Mac memory. -

Solution for addons with memory leaks needed! (check / mark them)
The Problem with Firefox is that there are a vary of plugins from other developers, but it could not be that users have to live with growing memory usage or memory leaks by these addons. This gives also Firefox itself a bad impression and I think there should be a solution to stop the trend because as a user I can not always identify what's the problem now and why the firefox-process gives no memory free but it makes firefox partially unusable if I have to open more than a few tabs.
In my opinion also popular extensions that are used by a lot of people still have memory leaks or even the addon-developer does not know that his addon has one.
Is there no possibility that firefox helps, that addons can't produce so many memory leaks or otherwise Mark them in the Addon repository if they have leaks or memory problems?!Being a rookie, I thought memory leaks weren't

more ram until.... kaboom!The garbage collector can only clean up stuff that is no longer being 'used'. If you hold references to stuff that you no longer use, then you are creating a leak.

As I pointed out above, the garbage collector collects garbage. It isn't garbage until there are no more references. Leaks are caused by holding onto references even though they are no longer needed. The GC can't do anything about that.

Since it sounds like you are creating a professional application I would suggest that you buy either JProbe and/or OptimizeIt and run your app through them. They will find memory leaks. And as an added benifit will also allow you to determine the bottlenecks in your application. -

Tableview getting refreshed when changing data in the rows
Hi Gurus,
Iu2019m doing a BSP with MVC. The requirement is as below.
In the main page there is a button u2018Create Orderu2019, to create a sales order, once I click this button, another screen (pop up) comes up and within that I have a Tableview display with the below fields with the data of 20 records.
Material no
Quantity
Delivery Date
Here user is allowed to choose the quantity and delivery date by selecting each row.(with MULTISELECT option in BSP)
The issue is after I select first row and change the quantity and date, and if I click on second row, the Tableview gets refreshed to enable the second row to be editable and the changes what I did on the first row are also refreshed.
So i want the Tableview not to be refreshed when selecting the multiple rows. So that I can keep the changes I make to the quantity and date fields Can you please suggest any method.

You need to capture the value entered by user in Quantity and date field and update the internal table with these values for the current selected row.
For ex.

I cannot open firefox at all. I have removed and re-installed but it has made no differenct. I just get an error message when loading firefox - as follows - 'The instruction "0x0000000" referenced memory at "0x0000000". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program.
Can anyone help me sort this out? If I log in as someone else Firefox works?

HANA DB - Sizing Script as per the note 1514966
I am trying to execute the HANA sizing report to get an estimated required size for HANA as per the note 1514966.
the report can be executed in two ways
The scripts can be used in two different modes:
- without parameter: the names of all active tables of the NetWeaver system along with their database size (in MB) will be written to a file "TableSize.txt" which also contains the sum of all table sizes.
- with a filename as parameter: the file should contain a list of tables that are to be replicated (one table name per row, no blanks). Only for those tables which can be found both in the file and in the database (as active tables of the NetWeaver system) the script writes the table names and their respective database sizes to the file "TableSize.txt".
The first part " Without parameter": runs fine, and it gives the output like following for a database of 2.5TB (ECC Database Uncompressed running AIX DB2)

can i assume 1783.32 is the required size of HANA memory for migration.

The report provides the memory footproint of the data on HANA after migration. This has to be taken into considered while planning for the HANA Appliance.
When we specify the parameter it has to be ensured that the tables exists in the source DB. The report is only run against the tables that are mentioned in the file provided in the parameter. Kindly check if the tables mentioned should be active tables of the NetWeaver system.

thanksWe said above that servlets persist between requests as object instances. In other words, at the time the code for a servlet is loaded, the server creates a single class instance. That single instance handles every request made of the servlet. This improves performance in three ways:
It keeps the memory footprint small.
It eliminates the object creation overhead that would otherwise be necessary to create a new servlet object. A servlet can be already loaded in a virtual machine when a request comes in, letting it begin executing right away.
It enables persistence. A servlet can have already loaded anything it's likely to need during the handling of a request. For example, a database connection can be opened once and used repeatedly thereafter. It can even be used by a group of servlets. Another example is a shopping cart servlet that loads in memory the price list along with information about its recently connected clients. Yet another servlet may choose to cache entire pages of output to save time if it receives the same request again.
Not only do servlets persist between requests, but so do any threads created by servlets. This perhaps isn't useful for the run-of-the-mill servlet, but it opens up some interesting possibilities. Consider the situation where one background thread performs some calculation while other threads display the latest results. It's quite similar to an animation applet where one thread changes the picture and another one paints the display.
