BW on HANA Trial - Unable to Terminate Instance

I'm trying to terminate SAP BW over HANA instance but it gives me a timeout Error:
I need to terminate it in order to restart the solution.

BW on HANA Trial - Using BEx Analyzer

Hello,
is my assumption correct that it is not possible to use BEx Analyzer with the BW on HANA Trial?
When I try to start BEx Analyzer via remote desktop of my instance nothing happened. Also I found a comment that there is a license problem with micrsoft und that´s the reason why it doesn´t work.
Do you know any workarround to use BEx Analyzer or Analysis for Office with BW on HANA Trial?

the private network option will be offered when you setup your AWS account with the VPC settings.

if you want to use your local GUI you will have to open the corresponding ports in the Virtual Machine settings.
I would also like to highlight the fact, that this is a Trial and that - based on the Terms and Conditions - you can not upload your own data and you can not connect it to your own ERP systems.

Terminate instance due to error DBW0,CKPT etc..

Hi Guys,
I have one query for instance crashes.
I am using win2003 EE (sp1) 32 bit and oracle 10.2.0.3
Every fews day I am getting this error like:
DBWO : terminate instance due to error 1242, (from alert log wihch contain,ORA-01242,01114,27072,OSD- 04008)
CKPT: terminate instance due to error 122, (from alert log wihch contain,ORA-01115,01110,27091,OSD- 04008)
and every a time I found list of DBF file which is having size almost 92 to 99% full.
So I have one questin only, is this error comes because of the dbf file reaches or closet to its max size limit? (in my db max size limit upto 2G only)
or its realted to some other stuff like scann software block the dbf which I generally found in this forum and on google.

Hi,
(OS 21) device is not readyMeans the device is not available to the system. Next time it happens do check whether you are able to access that file. If on unix you can use commands like ls, cksum. If it is not available you may have to take the help of system admin to figure out why that device suddenly went offline or whats the reason for it being not ready.

TimeOutException - unable to create instance - after installing patch set.

We have Oracle 9iAS 9.0.2 (Release 2) running on Windows 2000 Server.
We are running EJB's on the server, these include Entity and Session Beans.
Last week on 13-March 2003 (Thrusday) we installed a PatchSet downloaded from "metalink.oracle.com".
NAME: PatchSet 1 for Windows NT
After installation we faced the following problem :
1. Initial (first time) when an Entity Bean is called for a specific Primary Key, we are able to get the instance of the Bean.
2. However for subsequent request to the same Bean, it is unable to create or find an instance for the Bean, throwing the following error :
"TimeOutException" - "unable to create instance"
3. Though Step 1 and Step 2 are repeated on restarting OC4J_HOME.
We then uninstalled the Oracle 9iAS and reinstalled it without the PatchSet. On doing so, the above error did not occur.

Try setting max-instances=0 for your EJB in the orion-ejb-jar.xml.

Unable to Create Instance of Essbase Query Designer

Update: is it possible that security rights to the Essbase directory would affect the Query Designer? On a machine that it works on, I've noticed that the "xla" file updates each time it is accessed.

BW on HANA Trial connectivity issue

I am using SAP BW on hana trial version along with AWS services.
I connected with system and its in active state after successfully configuration.
Now the problem is I am not able to connect with specified IP address with SAP frontend. I tried to ping the IP but not responding the same.

You can check that either by on the name of the solution in the SOLUTIONS tab. This is what I see:

Authorization issue when sharing project in eclipse to HANA trial instance

I'm new that registered a trial account on hana cloud platform cockpit.When I do the step by step scenario create HANA XS Application, I faced some problem: after I created the project in Eclipse and tried to share it via hana cloud repository, the following error message appears:

Finally I found the cause, when creating the project in the Project Explorer, we should not navigation to the path which we set in Repository Workplace, but should also add the "<username>" in front of the workspace in the path manually,
For example, the workspace on my machine is:
C:\Users\I000000\hana_work\JN4_00_DEV_8DCH17EFJG59GYBL0Y0I8BC78\myhanaxs
When I created new project "helloworld", it automatically locate the path as:
C:\Users\I000000\hana_work\JN4_00_DEV_8DCH17EFJG59GYBL0Y0I8BC78\myhanaxs\helloworld,
but the path should be exactly like the following then it can be shared to cloud repository:
C:\Users\I000000\hana_work\JN4_00_DEV_8DCH17EFJG59GYBL0Y0I8BC78\myhanaxs\<i000000trial>\<instance name>\<packagename>\hello

How to connect to SAP HANA Trial Instance using ODBC

I am a newbie to SAP HANA. I have a trial account and have created a new SAP HANA instance using it. I have also installed the HANA Client Tool(Dev edition). I wanted to create a ASP.NET application to consume HANA database on trial instance. Creating ODBC connection requries server:port that are not available in case of trial instance. Can this be done ?
Instead can I create a Java application that consumes HANA database on trial instance using JDBC ?
Need an answer ASAP. Thanking you in advance.

I could not find out how what will be the jdbc url and how to get that port no.
Say for example the cloud system is https://account.hanatrial.ondemand.com/ and instance no is xyz. then waht would be the jdbc url?
"jdbc:sap://xyz.hanatrial.ondemand.com:30015/" - this is not working.

Smallest AWS instance to run the HANA trial virtual appliance

Hello Experts
I'm looking to use the available free HANA virtual appliances, developer edition. In order to use this, a cloud provider such as Amazon web services is required. I'm trying to see what will be the smallest possible instance that can be setup in order to run the virtual appliance. The offer some really small options and some are even free for some time but i need to know if that will be enough for the HANA virtual appliance to work fine.

1. You mention 2 EC2 instances, why 2? I thought one instance was enough for the connection.
2. There are several different options on the EC2 instances. I'm looking for an option to connect to the     CAL for training so i was thinking that i don't need a big instance but to try some of the HANA
    capabilities i was also thinking that an option with more than 1 processor is also need. What option
    are you using?
3. Do you know how does it work if there are 2 users connecting to the instance at the same time on
    terms of pricing? Does AWS charges by the instance independently of the numbers of users
    accessing it?

Having problem with the SAP ERP on HANA trial

Well, I left my SAP ERP Foundation Extension powered by SAP HANA - Fully Activated Appliance Landscape Trial suspended for about a week. When I re-activated the instance, I could connect to the SAP clients but not log in.
I get the "Logon not possible (error in license check)" message.
I also logged into my AWS console to look at the system log.
The log ends with a number of entries like:
This is R3trans version 6.24 (relesae 741 - 10.10.13 - 20:13:08 ).
unicode enabled version
2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = HDB --- SERVER = '' PORT = ''"
R3trans finished (0012).
Is there anyway to fix this? or do I just terminate and start over, again. (yes, this is the forth or fifth time I've had to rebuild).

Hi Brian,
there is a bug in the SAP Kernel which unfortunately invalidates the license after each reboot. We are already working on releasing a new version of the SAP ERP Foundation Extension Trial end of this week/early next week which will fix the error.
Alternatively you might fetch the new kernel from the Service Marketplace (if you have access). You would need SAP Kernel 7.41 PL47 for Linux x86_64. After launching the instance in CAL before it turns "green" in the CAL UI you would need to exchange the binaries after logon via ssh.
Quite complex to do, so the suggestion is to wait until end of this week/early next week until we are able to release a new version of the appliance incl. the fix.

A4H and HDB systems not starting in SAP MMC for BW on HANA trial

Hi,
I followed all the steps to create an account in AWS and activate a trial version of SAP BW 7.4 on HANA and SAP BO 4.1. The instance activated correctly in the SAP CAL with a green status. The instance was created in the region us-east-1c. I am currently in Australia.
But when I logon with the remote desktop, and go to the SAP MMC, I see that the A4H and HDB systems have not started and are not green. When I try to start them manually I get the error below. Please help. My SDN userid is P052405.

Hana Cloud - Unable to share project - REPO.MAINTAIN_IMPORTED_PACKAGES

Dear experts,
I'm trying to create a XS Application project into to my Hana Cloud trial account, but every time I try to share the project in the workspace I get the error below:
Authorization 'REPO.MAINTAIN_IMPORTED_PACKAGES' missing for package '<user account>.<package name>' or one of its parent packages.
I have followed all the steps described on the link

I also checked the proposed solutions from the previous discussion below, but it didn't solved the problem.
No Authorization to activate project to HANA System
I reinstalled Eclipe Kepler and all its plugins to be sure I used the most updated version...
Does anyone know how to fix this or have a workaround for that?

OK. I checked the discussion mentioned before: Failed to create a "hello world" ANA XS Application.
The workaround works as following:
1) Just create the XS Project without sharing it with the SAP Hana repository
2) Create the different files: .xsaccess, .xsapp, .xsprivileges, model_access.hdbr, hello.xsjs
3) Start the SAP Hana cockpit and login to your account
4) Select Hana Instance, open SAP HANA Web-based Development Workbench
5) Drag and drop the 5 files which were generated in 2) and save all
6) Now the Hana Instance should show theapplication
7) Select Hana XS application and double click on the URL
8) Hopefully you see this result:

Grant privileges on DB View in HANA Trial

I created DB View on my scheme. View uses table SNWD_BPA of EPMSAMPLEDATA schema. I created OData service with this View. I can browse content of metadata OData service without no issue.

I changed main idea of my OData service.
First, I created service with direct access to SNWD_BPA of EPMSAMPLEDATA. I created role with select access to SNWD_BPA of EPMSAMPLEDATA. But I used the wrong order of parameters with procedure call HCP_GRANT_ROLE_TO_USER.
Second time, I created view for access to SNWD_BPA of EPMSAMPLEDATA and changed Odata service. But view cannot be granted on trial hana cloud platform.
Current solution is: Odata service is same as first time and correct granted role.

Unable to view instances link in CMC

hi all,
after scheduling a report we get instances generated in history. when we hover the mouse cursor on the success or failed state of the instance, we get a link . on clicking the link we get more details on the schedule instance.
especially, for a failed instance we get to know the error message.
So my problem here is the link on the state( failed or success is not visible)
can somebody plz help.
