BW Report Designer - Group level changes

Dear all,
we intent to use BW Report Designer and want to insert page breaks between group level changes
so that we get one page per item of a group (as it is possible in Crystal reports).
Example:
Sales organization is listed in column 1 of our query - we need one page per item -
page 1 - Sales organization 100
page 2 - Sales organization 200
Concerning to the online documentation it should be possible, but we can't find this functionality
within the BW Report designer.
Could anybody assist us?

I'm currently designing a report, something like an invoice. The invoice number is usually on the page header. But now i want to create a report to list down all the invoice numbers in the 'details' but when i drag the 'invoice number' data to 'details'
it only show 1 row of numbers, wheareas the data has few rows of it. How can i make it view all my numbers?

Report Designer - No of columns

Hi,
I have a report that is created in query designer, Whcih has got approx 35 columns.
I called that in report designer and made changes as per requirement. Bu tht issue is when i say "Fit width to page" and say print preview. Its showing very small font and its unreadable. I know 35 columns is huge number. But is there any way we can achieve this?
My client has got the print out which looks good when designed in Excel But ours is report designer and will be executed in web.
Can we acheive the same in web compared to excel?

As you mentiond that report designer is used for formtted reports. I created report in query designer and formatted the report in report designer as per user requirement. But when i call in in web, due to more number of columns, the print is very small. My page is landscape only.
In WAD, I cannot call my report (created in Report designer) directly from analysis item. Only way i can call is thru Report web item. I did that but still my report shows very small. I dont have any options of setting number of columns for report web item. Any other suggestions?

Report Designer missing 'group level' area - GUI problem?

I have a few questions here that I think are related, so I'm posting in one thread.
1) As far as what I've been reading on, we can upgrade to BI 7.0 even with a front-end SapGUI 640 (patch 19). True or False?
2) One can <u>only</u> use Report Designer with SapGUI 710. True or False?
And here's a long one...
3) When you open Report Designer should we see "Group Level" on the right-hand side (if it's checked to show)? Mine (having sapgui 710 at patch 1) was showing just the ruler, but not the "Group Level" areas... is this a gui issue? What's the fix?
[my history of GUI install:
Before upgrade: Sap GUI 640 patch 8
After upgrade: Installed NW4s BEx components only
(then getting dumps in the r3 back-end) so installed SAP GUI 710 from 50083078_4 cd.
Report Designer missing the group level areas... I thought, might as well install patch 01. But that did not help.]

I had a couple issues to 710 with the report designer. i didnt had anything similar to ur issue, but all my default and specifics of format catalog were blacked out and not allowing me to change that. I downgraded to 640 and everything works fine now. (I tried installing all possible latest and greatest on the GUI but nothing worked and it costed me a whole day to acknowledge the fact)

How to design Group Left Report using RTF method ( XML Publisher )

I need to design Group Left Report using basic RTF method. I am able to design basic simple report and Group Above Report but I am not getting Group Left Report. Can anyone help me out.

Group Left report can be done using table consisting of 1 row and 2 columns. Group header goes to the column 1, group details go to the second column. Group details can be also designed using table, in this case you get table within table cell. "for-each.." statement for the upper level group to be placed in the left column before the group header data. "end for-each.." to be placed in the second column after the detail data.

Group Level adjustments not required for consolidation report

HI Experts,
The requirement is as below:

My client want to post some adjustment entries at Group level after consolidation, but he need a report With and without the consolidation entries.
I.E. one balance sheet and PNL with the group level adjustments and another balance sheet and PNL without Group level adjustments.
Requirement: 2
Every period his manual entries are more than 240 and during year end it will go till 300.
As it is difficult to post these many entries manually, Client is asking for any upload functionality. Need some inputs on how to acheive this BCS.

I agree with Eugene, you can't just create a user-defined posting level. The available posting levels are pre-defined by SAP in the UC00 type pool.

The virtual cube logic wouldn't know how to address a custom posting level without a number of core changes.

Bex Report Designer is not previewing changes in QA

Hi All,
Please help... i am getting an unusual problem with bex report designer. I have created a bex report using report designer. This was then transported in to QA. In QA i opened my created report using report designer and clicked the print version button to preview the report in PDF format. This all worked correclty, however i noticed a spelling mistake in one of the custom text fields i am using.
So i put the report in a transport in dev, made the changes in dev and previewed in dev. Everything is ok here and i can see the change i made.
After this i transported the report to QA and when i open the report in report designer to preview the data i can see in design mode that the custom text field does HAVE the change i made so it is correct. The problem i am getting is though when i preview to see in PDF format the image i get is of the old preview with the spelling mistake.
SInce i have made more changes and i can see the changes in DEV and in QA in design mode but when i preview it shows me the old image from the 1st preview.
Please can anyone shed any light into this issue.

Different chart for each level hierarchy in report designer

Is there a way to display a different chart for each level of the hierarchy in a report designer? I want a different chart for each level. That is, if there are 5 nodes in level 4, I want 5 different nodes. Is there a way to do this? I tried to insert the chart inside a cell in each level, but it shows the same chart for all nodes instead of a different chart for each node.

Has any one tried using a context sensitive chart? According to this, it seems like this should be possible, but I am having no luck.

Bug in report sorting? Sort doesn't work in last group level.

Is this a known error? Is there documentation from Oracle about it?
My query is a simple select from a table. I then created three group levels. Each group contains a value for sorting (up arrow next to column). However, data is not sorted by the value in the third group.
Try:

Create a query tabular report with the wizard (select * from test_sort). Then make the groups: first a, then b, then c. Make sure that there is an arrow next to the values (sorting).
The report only displays a and b values sorted.

Restrictions
Break Order has no effect on columns that belong to the lowest group of a particular query.
Break Order only affects columns in groups that are above the lowest child group of a query.
You have to add an "ORDER BY" in the SQL query in order to sort the columns belonging to the "lowest group"

Is it possible to set a "query in change mode" with the Report Designer 7.x

I have a query set in "change mode" with an index set as "data can be changed using user entries or planning funcionts".
If I use this query as a "Data Provider" in the Report Designer, the result is still in "change mode" or a result of the Report Designer is only a static image?

How to limit row number per group without change new page in crystal report

Hi All Expert,
Is there any way to limit row number per group without change new page in crystal report 2008. The reason i do that is due to customer using printer EPSON LQ 300 (dot matrix) always will print in landscape if detech my layout in landscape. Because they need the record always print in 1 page (Letter size) for 2 groups and each group must show 5 records. Example:
But, in CR2008, if you set the row per group from group section expert, definitely it will change to new page, but I do not want it change to new page. Any Idea?
In one page (Letter size):
Group Name: Customer-ABC
NO INVOICE AMOUNT
1)   INV001     USD100
2)   INV002     USD100
3)   INV003     USD100
4)   INV004     USD100

Because if you have one common group for all the 10 records then in one page it will show 10 records under one group.
I mean i think it is not possible but m not completely sure......

Restricting GL master change at account group level

Hi Experts,
Requirement
To control GL MAster field layout per company code or per account group and per activity.
To restrict GL master change, for certain fields, at account group level.
Let us say, I have activated "Post Auto" in a GL Account during GL creation.
Now while changing the GL, the system should not allow me to change this particular field.
Analysis
This is possible through transaction OB26 (Define Screen Layout for Each Transaction).
However the limitation of the above transaction is that it is applicable for all the account groups for a particular activity (Create/Change/Display).
I do not want to use any development to make this happen.
Please help me in solving this through standard SAP.

Hi,
You can make the account group specific field status setting in OBD4.
And you can make the activity specific setting in OB26.
Then SAP will take the field status out of the two above based on highest priority. The priorities are (starting with the highest):
- Hide
- Display
- Required entry
- Optional entry
Fields which are accessed with the transaction master record display are always either displayed or hidden, since you cannot make an entry in a "display" transaction.
If you do not want to use the transaction-specific control, set the field status for all fields to optional. Since this field status has the lowest priority, the account group-specific control is always used.

Changes not reflecting in Report designer after Transports

Hi,
I have made some changes to a Report in the report designer and transported it to Quality and Acceptance systems. But the changes are reflecting in Quality system not in Acceptance server. In Acceptance sever the changes are seen in the report physically but when i execute the report i still see the old format. I tried transporting the request again to the system but no luck.
Cleared the Cache in Acceptance still no luck. Also regenerated the base query in RSRT and no effect on the report. Any idea?

Hi Praveen,
Make sure you have collected all the objects of the report.
You may check this in (development) RSA1->Transport Connection. Select that report and see if any objects are still not under $TMP or under any other Package and not got collected in your previous TR.

Create Group Tree option no longer available in report designer

I am currently using Crystal Reports 2008 report designer to create reports which are embedded in our application. We deploy a run time version of Crystal within our application. In previous versions there was a report setting in the report designer to "Create Group Tree", this appears to no longer be available in Crystal 2008. My question is... Is there a way to enable this option outside of the report designer? Is there a setting that I am just missing? This is causing an issue since I cannot upgrade existing reports to the 2008 version without losing the ability to display the group tree. thanks

CR 2008 only has a .NET Report engine now so I moved your post to the .NET SDK forum.
I kind of recall this may have been and RDC API, there is no RDC in CR 2008 and the Embedded Designer is for use in the Visual Studio .NET IDE for creating reports only. No longer licensed to be used in an application nor can it be distributed. If you were using crpe32.dll it is no longer supported as of CR 9.
