BW Role Transport

Hi,
BW Version-3.5
I created 20 Different roles that will grant access to the different cost center hierarchies..
for that i created a authorization object in RSSM.
Now how can i transport this to Production
1) Do i need to transport the authorizatiuon object i created in RSSM
I tried by selecting the role and grouping 'In data Flow befor' when i draged from left partion to right in transport connection screen
i can't see any authorization object under role only role is avaliable to raise a request
Can you please give me detailed approach transporting roles ....espicially hierarch

Hi,
Authorization objects have to move separately before the Role's moved to a different systeme.
You can include the Authorization object in the RSSM object directory entry by giving the package name.

Role content different from one AS to another after a role transport

Dear all,
I have a trouble after a simple role transport in the production system. The PROD system is built with one CI and 5 AS. (System ECC 5.0 kernel 6.40)
After a transport role, the changes are not replicated on all aplication servers in PFCG. For ex. once connected on the Application Server 1, the TC CK11 is well added to the role Z_Role; but when I'm connected on the AS 2, the content of the role Z_Role is different (the TC CK11 is absent).
Is someone have an idea?

Sounds like a bug, or there are some buffers which are corrupted.
Is this a very large role, or do the users have other very large roles?
I will move this to the NW Admin forum first, to see what they think of it - as I suspect that it is a server administration difference between the appservers.

PFCG - Role Transport button inactive

Hi All,
We perform role transport as usual but notice that the button has been greyed out. Same goes for mass transport. Both the button are inactive.
Does anyone have solution for this issue?

Hi Jyaki,
Are there any recent changes made in the system? If the issue is due to missing authorizations, it should display an authorization error when you click the button, but should not grey out the button/options.
By the way, do you have GRC ERM configured in your landscape?

Role Transports

Hello,
I transported Roles (BI 7.0) by collecting objects in Transport connection to QA system, but I eneded up regenerating profiles for all of them. Is this is normal?
OR is there any difference directly clicking Transport buttom from PFCG screen? do I need to re-do all my Role transports again?

I can't give you a definitive answer, but in PFCG, there's a tick-mark "Also transport the generated profiles of the single roles" on role transport screen.
This could be the difference - checking this probably piggy-backs the profiles to the transport.
Personally, I leave it unchecked and regenerate all profiles on the target system via SUPC.

Exchange Installation Error on Mailbox role: Transport Service Step

The error I receive occurs at 47% of the Mailbox Role: Transport Service installation. The details of the error are as follows:

I have done a ton of searches trying to find a resolution to this error and there are two pages with a similar issue for Exchange 2007 but after trying the solutions suggested, the installation still fails with the same error.

Some additional information:
This is a clean installation of Exchange 2013 in a forest that has never had exchange.
The domain and forest preparations run without errors and are at functional level of 2003.
The Exchange server has all prerequisites installed for a Mailbox server role and is running on a VM with Server 2012 as the OS.
This error occurs on other VMs as well that we are trying to implement as mailbox servers in the same forest.
I am running the installation as an enterprise, schema, domain admin.

Yes. I cleaned out Exchange with ADSIEdit so I could re-run the Prepare Schema, domain and all domains and then re-ran setup to show the output here. But the install still failed.

I've seen and heard the suggestions about enabling IPv6 on the servers as well as the Domain Controllers which I've done to no avail. We do not have IPv6 addresses available on our network as we use IPv4 space, but I've heard just having the
IPv6 adapter disabled is a lot of times the issue. So the adapters are set to DHCP even though there's no IPv6 address for it to grab. The 2008 R2 servers that I'm trying to install Exchange 2013 on are VMs on ESX. Will the
install fail even if it offers to pick up the installation where I left off? Do I need to completely start from scratch? Any help would be wonderful!

Please verify whether the port 3268 listen on DC.
Please try to enable GC role on all DCs.
Then restart Exchange server, try to find whether Event 2080 exists with all DCs.
Then try to re-install Exchange Server 2013 CU7.

Role Transport Delays

Dear SAP Security Gurus,
We are having delays while putting roles in to transport. If we have 50 or more roles it takes a long time and finally it gives a short dump. Can you please throw some light on this issue? We are having a hard time when we have to transport many roles.

Its quite difficult to answer your question. since it depend on transport configuration.
Check with the basis guy why role transport delays are happening?. Is it beacuse of support packs / any upgrades needed for the system?.
Did u implement a QA approval process in your QAS system.?
Check the shortdump error in D. try resolve that. If it is working fine in Q and P then there may be some memory issue or table space issue. Take a look at theshortdump description in ST22. share the explanation given there with Basis team.
But still you can chcek with Basis if you have the settings available and get it done by them.

Query in a Role transported to Q system, not available in BEx Q system.

Hello Everybody,
After going through number of posts, I could not find a solution to my query.
I've created a query, assigned it to a role. Collected the necessary objects into a BEx Tranport Request. Assigned it to the correct package. Now after the TR has been imported into BW QA system, I dont see the query in BEx BWQ (Quality System). Do I need to transport the role too, to the BW QA system again (Role already exists in BW QA as well as PR systems)

This has been reported in many threads...
This usually happens when some element of the query is not collected properly / does not get generated in the target system properly.
To correct this ..
go to RSRT and execute your query ( you should be able to find it there ) and then you will find the query in BEX.

Business role transportation

Hi Experts,
I have created 2 new business roles, they are working properly.These 2 new business roles are the copies of sales manager and sales employee.I have transported from development to testing client, but only one business role is appearing in testing client and other one missing. What could be the reasons.

Well, that depends on what you mean with "but only one business role is appearing in testing client and other one missing".
Do you only see one business role when you logon to the WebUI?
--> If yes this simply means that you are not assigned to this role in the organizational model
Or, do you mean that in the business role customizing activity only one of your business roles is present?
> If yes check your transport request and see what entries were taken into that transport. It might be that the other business role is contained in another transport that is not yet released/imported. You can search all transports in a system to see if they contain specific objects in transaction SE01 and then in the menu select "Goto>Objects in Requests" and search for business role objects.

Open Authorization Objects in role after role Transport

Hi All,
I have transported a R/3 (ECC6, support) role from Dev to QA and Dev (Multiple clients). After transport, Role has authorization tab with status (green) but when i display authorization data i found one new open authorization object (yellow).
I already have generated profile before tranporting. Role is also okay in Dev other clients (We have multiple clients in Dev) with status green and no open authorizations (yellow)
Any feedback/suggestions ?

This happens when PFUD runs at the same time as you are generating the role. Refer to this note: 355030 - Loss of authorizations after profile generation. Another remote reason could be if your source (DEV) and target (QA) systems use different characters sets. (Note #535554).
If it is the former case, re-transporting your role may just be the solution for you. Just re-generate the role in DEV and initiate a new transport.

As Alpesh mentioned this is possible but not recommended and he is right.
But it is an work arround and which is very long process.
1) Search the role in ERM
2) Select the role and click on copy button
3) In Copy Role screen you can see original From Role(eg, Z:TEST) and From Landscape(eg. QA system)
4) And you can see To role and To Landscape. Here you have to choose your production system.
Along with this you can tick:Detailed Description,Functional Area,Approvers,Custom Attributes,
Attachments and Authorizations.
Then click on copy button. Your role will be saved with your prod server name and you have to do the whole process of role generation for this role.

I am changing single role at authorization level,and i saved it.But this single role is contained in Master composite role .Now while transporting what should I transport..? is it only single role or whole composite role and its derived compoites.?Please advice I am new to forum..!

Error in Role transport

I had saved an new workbook under a role and i want to transport the role and work book .When i collect the role, query and workbook in transport connection and click on the transport button I get an error message the details of the error message is below

Object R3TR ACGR Z_BW_PTP_RPTX, which is not checked by the Transport Organizer, and object R3TR XLWB 46YYIQZ97EX1XIREHOQL8R4RR, which is checked, cannot be edited in the same request.
Only objects of the same type can be edited in the same request.
System Response
The function terminates.
Procedure
If you still want to edit these objects in the same request, first check the packages of the objects.
One of the following conditions must be satisfied for the objects so that you can repeat the function:
All the objects must be assigned packages that are checked by the Transport Organizer.
All the objects must be assigned packages that are not checked by the Transport Organizer (for example, $TMP for local objects).

BW Role Transport not appearing

Hi there mates,
I went to PFCG, clicked on my role ' FINANCE '
Then hit the Truck Button, where I created a Transport Request.
However, when I went to SE09, I don`t seem to see my Request.
Please advice

make sure you mark 'customizing requests' in se09/se10, in next screen, try to expand your client number->'Customizing' ...
.. The role is entered in a Customizing transport request (display using transaction SE10)...
SE09 can be used also.

BP ROLE TRANSPORTS

Hi,
I have created new BP roles in "development" by copying the pre defined SAP roles.
When we transported the roles to Testing server, roles have been reflected in the transaction BUSD, but the dependences have not been transported. The roles have not been replicated in BP.
Could any one suggest what would have went wrong.

Hi Vamsi,
Transporting roles will not transport dependencies.
You have to manually add all dependencies in a request and then transport this request to the testing server.
