BW Source System re-configuration

Hi,
I need to change the Source System in our BW Server. The Source System is R/3 310 Client, and now we need it to be R/3 300 Client, both Development and Production systems.
¿Can I change the Source System Cliente field value from 310 to 300 and then re-initiate Source System and its infosources? ¿what the impact will be?
thanks for your help.

Hi Roberto,
Just recently joined and used site yesterday for the first time to search for advise / knowledge on "Conversion of Source System Names". Came across this communication......
Thanks for the URL link to document
"HOW to ... System Copy in SAP Business Intelligence System Landscapes".
Our BW Basis support is not at all helpful and I have been battling for months to solve the problem of loosing our DataSource's / Transfer rules etc after refreshing / system copy (BWP to BWD) and then renaming the R/3 Logical System Name.
I read through the document thoroughly and applied instructions successfully this morning ....Thanks so much ......
OSS directed me to SAP note <b>886102</b> which I found not at all helpful (only supplied half of the required steps to follow)in fact very confusing as I am not a basis person.
Many Thanks once again
Regards

  • Source system mapping for transport

We just create a change request for an InfoSouce. Now we transport this change request from DEV system to TEST system. But when this change request was imported on TEST system, got the "Method Execution" red error which can be checked through STMS in log. The red error msg is "Source system A does not exist", where A is our R3 DEV server. Actually we need the source system B which is R3 TEST server in the InfoSouce transported into BW TEST system, but the problem is that the change request was created on BW DEV which uses A as Souce System in the InfoSouce, then how to make the InfoSouce has B on BW TEST after the transport?
Roberto gave an answer (see my another post: What should BASIS do for an InfoSource transport for Souce System change?) as below:
"you have to set the source system mapping in your target system in RSA1, Transport Connection -> F8 and then import your request again !"
But he said this setting would be done at the target or TEST system.   I don't think it's right, this mapping setting should be done at the DEV system since our transports are created in DEV Transport Connection, am I right?
    Please verify who is right?

  • Development - Quality : Source system configuration

    Dear All,
We have 3 System landscape to our Customer : Dev -> Qual -> Prod
Our Source systems are Oracle database, so we are using DB Connect in the project.
Oracle database dev - BI Development system ( pointing )
When we transport the objects ( info objects, infosource, infocube, update rules etc., ) i am getting a error source system does not exist.
The reason is for BI Quality system it is getting transport with Oracle database dev as a Source system and the same source system is not available in BI Quality system.
    Oracle database Quality -
BI Quality system ( pointing )
So manually i am doing changes to the transfer rules---assigning data source etc and activating the things.
Please let me know where we can do the configurations for this...
    Regards,
    Vara Prasad

    Hi Stefan/Seb,
Already i am maintaining the entries in conversion of log. System name like this..
    LOGSYSORG  LOGSYSNEW
    BW100      BSDCLNT100      BWLOGICALSYSTEM
    MBPCU1T    MBPCU1PP        Billing PreProd server1
WPSDB      WPSDB_PREP      Portal Pre Production System
MBPCU1T is My Oracle database dev and MBPCU1PP is oracle database quality system.
Still i have the issue, when i transport the request to quality it is showing the MBPCU1T in the transfer rules, So manually i am changing the source system and assining the data source to that.
Please let me know if i need to do any more configurations.

  • How to transport FM retraction configuration if source-system changes?

    Hi experts,
I have configured FM retraction in ERP through SPRO connecting it to my Dev source system in my Dev ERP. What do I need to do to transport this configuration to my production ERP and make sure the BI source-system changes from Dev to Prod as well? Is there some kind of souce-system mapping as there is in the BI side for the extraction?
For example, I have everything set-up for source-system BWD and I want it to change to BWP when I transport the configuration from ERP dev to ERP prod.
    Thanks

    Hi Christian,
Thanks for your reply, but I didn't get anywhere in OKE7 & OKE8 to include the credit records I made in KSAZ in a Transport.
    Can you elaborate it more.
    Thanks

  • Configuring of a new source system in BW

    Hi Experts
We have to set up a BW system,  which will have 2 source systems( ECC)  clients 550 and 590 of the same ECC ( ECC QUALITY). One client is already there and we have to configure another client of source system with the sane BW Client 350. I understand that the dataflow is partly different (e.g transfer rules and datasources are source system dependent). My question are
    1.     How we can configure a Source System on BW.
    2.     What changes if any I have to make in the existing system (BW)
    3.     What will happens to the Existing Data-sources ( Do I have to replicate each and every data-source of the existing ECC clients to New ECC client.)
    4.     Do I have to create New transfer and update rule for the new client
    Any other point Pl. advice.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dinesh Sharma

You can more than one source system to onw BW client.
You have to use source system compounding to differentiate between characterstics values if you are loading to the same object. Otherwise you need to use separate characterstics for ex : Yxxxx object for one source system and Zxxxx object for another.
Also the dataload timing should be setup properly. Otherwise it may leads to object locks.

  • Configuration of source system

    Hi all,
I had a problem with the configuration of source system with bi 7.0 . i wanna know it is same as earlier. can any body help me plz. it urgent
    Thanks n regards
    KK

    Hi Kannan,
To connect both systems you need a background user (like ALEREMOTE) in both systems.
In the source system creation, if you haven't created the RFC connection between BW and ECC you shouldn't select one (chek if DM0 is your ECC system), you should use the three fields below (app server, system ID and system number). Then enter both users and passwords (source system and local system).
In some moment you'll be prompted to log on to ECC, there you should use a DIALOG user, for example, your user. This user should have administrator rights (if you have SAP_ALL it's ok). ECC system should be open for modifications to be able to create the system.
If you still have problems with the users, just include SAP_ALL to both background users and should work.
    Hope this clarifies.

  • Source System mapping for BW configuration transport

I create a data model mapped to the testing source system i.e DEV201 but the configuration source system is DEV200.
Now i am about to transport the BW configuration to BW-QAS , I am wondering if I have to assign the data model to the config. source system(DEV200) or i can created a transport request attached to DEV201 ?
Is there any concern on this ?

    Hi,
I'm not clear your system landscape. Do system landscape like that:
    BWD (BW development) --> DEV201
Now you want transport all objects to BW_QAS with connected to DEV200.
If this is true, you do like this:
    - On BW_QAS: create source system (DEV200). Maintain conversion of source system after transport (Original: DEV201; Target source system: DEV200).
    - After that transport your modeling from BWD to BW_QAS.
    Hope this helps

  • Data load problem - BW and Source System on the same AS

    Hi experts,
I’m starting with BW (7.0) in a sandbox environment where BW and the source system are installed on the same server (same AS). The source system is the SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) 5.0.
BW is working on client 001 while SRM is on client 100 and I want to load data from the SRM into BW.
I’ve configured the RFC connections and the BWREMOTE users with their corresponding profiles in both clients, added a SAP source system (named SRMCLNT100), installed SRM Business Content, replicated the data sources from this source system and everything worked fine.
Now I want to load data from SRM (client 100) into BW (client 001) using standard data sources and extractors. To do this, I’ve created an  InfoPackage in one standard metadata data source (with data, checked through RSA3 on client 100 – source system). I’ve started the data load process, but the monitor says that “no Idocs arrived from the source system” and keeps the status yellow forever.

I didn't see any reason why it's not bringing. Are you doing full extraction or Delta. If delta extraction please check the extractor is delta enabled or not. Some times this may cause problems.
Also check this weblog on data Load errors basic checks. it may help

OCI call <OCISessionBegin> for connection <xxxxxxx> failed: <ORA-01017: inv
where <xxxxxx> is Oracle database connection name for Data Services instance I connected originally.
What can be reason for that?

In Data Services Server Manager on DS box there were configurations for job server I connected originally and for the other job server. After removing original config it works fine.
