BW to SAP R/3 CONNECTION

HI FRIENDS.
could any one tell me , how to connect SAP R/3 and BW, i hv been try to connect them, i could not , plz help me.
thks
hari

Hi,
First u try to create a logical source system for both of the R/3 and BW. and assign the logical source system to the respective clients.
these wil be done in T-code SALE.
Later maintain a connection b/n the source system through RFC i.e through SM59.
Its better to Contact ur basis team..

    Hello Daniela,
    you try to perform an offline backup (which is a very uncommon way nowadays) and your SAP system is not down.
    This is also described in the official documentation:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/en/0d/d309664a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm
    offline: Database backup in offline mode, in other words, the database is shut down during backup. When you select this parameter, BRBACKUP checks that no SAP system users are connected to the database. If an SAP System is active, the database is not shut down and BRBACKUP terminates the process with an error message (message number BR0068E).

  • Universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection

    Can I create universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection ?
    How can i access SAP HANA view which was created using OLAP connection in WEBI and Dashboard? It does not allow creating Universe on top of SAP HANA OLAP connection and give an error.
    SAP BusinessObjects query and reporting applications can directly connect to OLAP SAP HANA connections. No universe is required, only a published OLAP SAP HANA connection.
    Thanks

    OLAP connection are only meant for tools that make use of OLAP connectivity only like BEx ..and HANA analytic views and calculated views are also treated as OLAP cubes for them..
    So these connection is only available with analysis product like Analysis Office (which is meant to be used with Bex or OLAP cubes ) and Design studio which is again mainly built around OLAP paradigm..
    You can not create a universe or Webi on Olap connection on HANA as of now.. However it could be like exposed in a future release of BO which is not public yet...

  • Authentication error when creating EPM Add-in connection with SAP BO Enterprise connection type

    Hello, Experts,
    I have a problem with creation of EPM Add-in connection when SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise connection type is selected.
    An error message is "Error while communicating with the server. Framework message: Authorization failed."
    Here are the steps that were implemented and how this issue was reproduced:
    SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 10.0 SP12 for Microsoft was installed and configured.
    Integration between SAP BPC and SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1 SP02 was implemented. SAP BO users can successfully connect to SAP BPC system.
    EPM connector was successfully installed and deployed in SAP BusinessObjects BI server.
    BPC ODBO 2.0 SP04 64BIT was installed in SAP BusinessObjects server.
    EPM connection was successfully created in SAP BusinessObjects CMC.
    EPM Add-in and BPC ODBO 2.0 SP04 32BIT was installed in another computer (let's call it CLIENT) which has MS Office 2007 32BIT installed.
    From CLIENT computer we have launched Excel manually and successfully created BPC connection with Connection Type - Local.
    Then we have logged into BI Launch Pad and launched New / EPM document (Excel). Excel has started.
    In EPM Add-in we have pressed Logon.
    In connection window selected SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise connection type.
    An error "Error while communicating with the server. Framework message: Authorization failed." appears.
    Before this error appears we are not getting any window where we could select EPM connection (created in CMC) nor the possibility to enter username or password.
    Looking forward you valuable comments and suggestions.
    Thank you in advance.
    Donatas Budrys

    Dear, Roberto,
    Our user has Full Access to all BPC tasks and it is administrator in BI system.
    Also we can successfully connect with the same user using Connection type "Local".
    We had done some investigation and in the BPC SQL Server trace log we can catch the following message when an error occurs:
    ==============[System Error Tracing]==============
    [System  Name] : BPCXMLAService [Message Type] : ErrorMessage [Job Name]    : ValidateUser [DateTime]    : 04/23/2014 10:58:06 [UserId]      : [Exception]    DetailMsg  : {System.Exception: Invalid user    at SAP.BPC.Services.Webservice.XMLAService.XMLAService.ValidateUser()} ==============[System Error Tracing  End ]==============
    It is very interesting that after the EPM workbook is launched via BI Launch Pad till an error occurs we are NOT provided with possibility to enter any username and password. So the EPM add-in should use the same user which was logged into BI Launch Pad - in our case the user with administrative rights both in BI Launch Pad and BPC systems. Am I missing anything?
    Looking forward your feedback.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Donatas

  • How to build a WEBI query on a SAP NANA OLAP connection?

    hi fellows,
    we all know that a relational connection can be built to SAP HANA database, and we build data foundation, biz layer to publish it to the repository, so that we can create a WEBI report based on a query to visit the universe.
    However, does anybody know how to create a WEBI query on a SAP HANA OLAP connection?  Since we don't need to build any data foundation on it.
    I created a sap hana olap connection, but failed to find anywhere to publish it?  Can anybody help?

  • Unable to create Business Layer on top of SAP BW OLAP Connection - BI 4.0

    Friends,
    Need an useful information, why can't we create a business layer on top of SAP BW OLAP connection which is built with BICS driver.
    Today when i tried to create a business layer in IDT tool of BI 4.0 it didnt allow me to do so. Is it a s/w bug or am i following a wrong approach. I do know, we can create a .unx universe through relational connection. But i dont want that, please provide your input.
    thanks,
    Tilak

    Hi,
    this question has been asked many times before, so a search will reveal your answer.
    as the warning told you when you tried the workflow in IDT - business layers aren't supported for Bics connections - i.e. you can't create a UNX ontop of Bex using BICS..
    unfrotunately, it was a strategic product decision that seemingly can't be reversed/influenced, despite the inherent problems this causes.
    There are lots of requests for this feature to be restored, on the Ideas Place here: https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/community/ideas/businessanalytics/sbosemanticlayer
    Please search and Vote for one.

  • SAP R/3 Connection in WEB AS 6.40

    Hello,
    I am currently in the process of <i>migrating our enterprise application from Jboss to SAPWAS 6.40</i>. One of the tasks is to get the SAP R/3 connectivity happening in SAP WAS server. We connect to the SAP R/3 system from our java classes and realise we have to use JCO to do this.
    is there a set of steps outlined anywhere which might tell me what is required to achieve the above? As in how do i go about setting the Connector Factory, getting hold of the relevant jars and dlls (if rquired)
    Any help is much appreciated and <b>promise to reward the person with any useful information</b>.
    Thanks
    Dushy

    Hi Bhavik, Much appreciate your response. At this stage I am not too concerned about how to call the RFC from our Java classes as we already had that in Place in Jboss. I am more concerned about how to go about declaring the JCO adapter. Here is an example from a *-ds.xml file in Jboss that we used to basically deploy our adapter into Jboss. Do we need a similar thing in Netweaver??

  • SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 in SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6

    Hello experts,
    Before describing any think let me tell u that i am very new to this field.
    We are configuring SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 in our SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6 .I have already installed ABAP add on for EPC in ECC system.
    I have also installed trial version of primavera6 in another system.So now how can i connect my ECC system to Primavera6 through Enterprise Project Connection(EPC). I have gone through the installation guide for SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 SP2.But i could not get any clear idea.
    Any reply is helpful for me..
    Thanks
    Debasis

    Hello Debasis,
    Post EPC installation,you need to perform configuration of EPC through portal.You can see it listed under configuration--> configuration scenarios-->EPC.
    During configuration you will be asked to define path of you primavera installation and a user on that system with sufficient permissions. This user is called APS user.
    Try to do a mock configuration run on sandbox/dev system and then you can follow the guide.
    Regards,
    Hetal

  • SAP. Functions  Connection.logon(0, True) error without any description

    I use SAP note 1028500. It provides VBA Excel macros for xRPM Financial planning data loading.
    General problem contains in the following lines:
    Function XRPM_SAP_LOGON(ByRef r3 As Object)
      Set r3 = CreateObject("SAP.Functions")
    r3.Connection.System = "A30"
    r3.Connection.Client = "150"
    r3.Connection.User = "kovalevavi"
    r3.Connection.Password = "xRPM40SAP"
    r3.Connection.Language = "RU"
    If r3.Connection.logon(0, False) = True Then
        strAns = "xRPM"
        message = "Login Failed"
        strAns = MsgBox(message, 0, strAns)
        XRPM_SAP_LOGON = False
        Exit Function
       End If
       XRPM_SAP_LOGON = True
    End Function
    String "If r3.Connection.logon(0, False) <> True Then" loads SAP logon. After system was chose and logon data were entered a user clicks on "OK" button and error notification without any details appears.
    There are no problems with logon using direct access to SAP Logon. We have the other situation. We use Citrix with only 2 application shortcuts (Excel and SAP Logon) available. Remote desktop is not available (2 shortcuts only). I guess there are some network problems with data transfer to ERP (or SAP Logon). The macros reads file with systems in SAP Logon, but it cannot send back information on client, account, PW and language to SAP Logon (or ERP).
    Could u please tell, how string «If r3.Connection.logon(0, False) <> True Then" works? How ERP access is provided via Connection.logon? Does "Connection.logon" function read SAPLOGON.INI and encapsulates its packages into SAP Logon packages or it woks in the other way? What does files it use? How does account information return to ERP?
    Are there any ways for pointing to server directly and calling ERP logon via Excel macros?
    Best regards,
    Valerie

    Hi Experts,
    I am building a dashboard using SAP Netweaver BW Connection.
    Query results in approx 4000 rows of data.(we know its not preferred to go with >512 rows of data but client is ok with the performance issue because of more data).

  • Error 2032 in SAP Netweaver BI Connection

    I am using an xcelsius dashboard through a BICS connection. I am able to connect to a BEx query and publish this dashboard to SAP BW system. I also able to launch this dashboard in IE and everything works fine for next 30 min. I am able to go to multiple tabs in the dashboard and trigger various queries etc. However, after exactly 30 min, I get the error 2032. The exact error text says:
    An error has occurred.
    For more information, contact the file creator or your system administrator.
    Error: Error #2032
    Connection Type: SAP NetWeaver BI Connection
    I am unable to find any such settings on the BW server side which can break the connection after 30 min. Also, BO is not involved as it's published on BW server itself. So, I am confused about what could be the reason and how to fix it.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    Akhilesh

    Hi All,
    We were getting the same issue (Error #2032, while connecting to Bex query from DashboardDesign tool, "The First Post"),
    The issue got resolved by installing  "patch 14 for DashboardDesign 4.0 SP2".
    You guys can try the same.

    I have a toggle button in our Sales dashboard which displays Top Ten Customers versus Bottom Ten Customers.  I use the value of the toggle button to trigger the data connections.  When a user clicks the toggle button for Top Ten Customers the value of the toggle button would be a 1 which would trigger a BW query to capture sales data for the Top Ten Customers.  When a a user clicks the toggle button for Bottom Ten Customers the value of the toggle button would be a 0 which would trigger a BW query to capture sales data for the Bottom Ten Custoemrs.  NOTE: all the key figures in both querys use a scaling factor of 1000.  So for example, if invoiced sale has a value of 100,000 the scaling factor of a 1000 would display this key figure with a value of a 100.  The issue I am having with the dashboard is when I click the toggle botton for the Top ten Customers, the value shows as 100 and if i click the toggle button for Bottom ten Customers the value would show as 100,000.  I need the toggle button to show the values using the scaling factor coming from the BW queries for both Top Ten Customers and Bottom Ten Customers. It's only using the 1000 scaling factor coming from the Top Ten Customers.
    Any help on this issue would be graetly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi, I get both. I think the errors are connected. On the one hand it is not possible to create any SAP NetWeaver BW connection, because you cannot enter the connection details- just as in the screen above. The only option you have is to use the "browse" button, but then the blank error appears.
    When trying to open a Dashboard from Portal you have to use SAP->Open and then SAP GUI should appear, but here I get the error "Could not open from SAP" instead. I have installed BEx and SAP GUI of course, reinstalled all of them two times just as recommended above, also reinstalled MS Excel, Flash, Java. Furthermore I tried to repair the installation and to change between different editions, personal, departmental etc.
    In the meantime I think it should not be possible at all to connect to BW with the departmental license key. Can somebody confirm that?

  • Get SAP Business One connection

    Hi all.
    I'm creating a report using Crystal Reports Basic 2008 for SAP Business One and I have a question.
    Our client has three databases under one server, so, I'm creating three reports and i'm conecting them under a UDL file.
    My question is if it's possible to get the actual SAP Business One connection when the report is call? Because this way, I can only make a report instead of three.
    I hope I was able to express myself best. I'm thank you and i'm waiting. Thanks.
    The system have:
    Windows Server 2008 SP2
    SQL Server 2008
    SAP Business One 8.8 PL 11
    Crystal Reports Basic 2008 for SAP Business One 12.1.0.892

    Hi,
    I don't think that is possible since the sequence to run CR is after connecting to a specific database.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • SAP and TAS Connection through Web Services

    HI Experts,
    we are planning to Integrate SAp and another TAS system using web services (no XI/PI). Please tell me if this way is correct.
    XML format of iDoc will be the data format, web service technology will be used to exchange data between SAP and TAS.
    To Transfer data to TAS, the client application running on SAP server will try to connect to the web service running on TAS server. Once connection is established, idoc data will be sent to TAS, then the connection will be closed.
    To transfer data to SAP, the client application running on TAS server will try to make connection to the web service running on SAP server. Once connection is established, idoc data will be sent to SAP, then the connection will be closed.
    tnx and regards

    Hello,
    What will be you Language used for Connection.
    One method i may suggest is use ABAP FTP.
    With this push the files to a file sever location and read it using webservice.
    like wise let webservice generate a file and place a file in location and let ABAP prog pick the file.
    this way you can maintain a status flag for the number of records, thus having a staging area.
    regards,

  • Xcelsius connectivity while using SAP Netweaver BI Connection

    Dear All,,
    Any Help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
    System Information
    BI EHP2 System u2013 SAP NW BI 7.02
    Xcelsius u2013 2008 SP3
    BI Portal u2013 EHP2 / Single sign on with Windows AD
    When accessing a BExQuery in the XCelsius 2008(SP3) Designer via the SAP NW BW Connection,  we encounter "Error #2032".
    Step by Step replication of the issue

    3.     Add  u201CSAP NetWeaver BW Connectionu201D
    4.     Select u201CBrowseu201D
    5.     From the Prompted SAP Log-on Pad , Select BI EHP2 System and Log-on as u201CBI EHP2 User ID & Passwordu201D
    6.     Select Query u201CRSB_M001_Q0901u201D from Query Selection

    9.     Error #2032 displayed
    We refered Note 1408384 for the issue. When we call the Web Service BicsRemote from WsNavigator, it prompts for a userID and Password.
    On providing the administrator ID and Pwd the WebService returns the version successfully.
    Thankx in advance.
    Regds,

    Check Note 1484847 (implement crossdomain.xml on your Netweaver and add an entry with the name and IP Address of your BW server into the hosts file residing on the workstation your XCelsius Designer runs on).
    If you have a federated portal the check this:
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1408354
    If you are using SSL (https) on the Netweaver you have to install FP 3.3 on your XCelsius client.

    Stratos
