BW Upgrade 3.0 to 7.0 ( Data Migration for Prod)

Hello Experts,
We are doing BW Upgrade from 3.0 to 7.0, I need your suggestions.
We are going to upgrade BW Development, Quality and Production landscape to 7.0 and once technical upgrade is done we will go ahead with Function upgrade.
Now point is, once we done with all developments in Production environment then how we will take Historical data?
We are planning to connect Old BW system (3.X) as Source system to new BW 7.0 and then we are going to pull data.
But as we need to move data from Standard data sources like LO we need downtime for Production environment. Our challenge is to minimize this downtime for production environment.
Does any body having idea about this? I am aware of one IBM toll TDMF for data migration which migrate data from one data base to one data base with hardly 2 hours of  downtime , but again for this licensing cost and etc is involved.
Please share your experiences and suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Pankaj Naik

You would not need to da a data migration if you are upgrading the existing 3.0 system with the data.

  • Data migration for re-organization

    hello,
I have to delimit the existing org structure in SAP system.
    the steps are as follows:
    1) create new org structure
    2) create new org structure to cost center mapping
    3) delimit the old org  and positions
    4) assign new org to positions
    5) assign cost center to some positions
Please can some one tell me which is the easiest transaction to do data migration for the step 3.
    Regards
    Meghana

    hi,
You can delimit the positions llike,
    Plan Version    HI Plan version
    Object Type     S  Position
Object ID       50018201     Director - Enterprise Bus
    Object abbr.    S 50018201
    Infotype        1001 Relationships
    Subtype
    Planning status 1    Active
    Validity        06/11/2008  to     12/31/9999
    Data sample
Then  there is option called Delimit (shift+F1) where you can demilit the dates.
    Try this.
    Reward me if helps,
    Thanks,

  • Data migration for historical consumption

    Hello,
I would like to get information about data migration for historical consumption.
To make forecast, we have to load historical consumptions for each materrial (data in forcasting view / Consumption vals).
Do you know if this is possible with a batch / direct input or we should develop a programm for that ?
    Thanks,
    PYR
Edited by: Pierre-Yves Ryckwaert on Jul 17, 2008 11:21 AM

I am certain that I can load historical consumption using IDOC menthod for message MATMAS03
However I have never uploaded historical consumption in an extra step after the material master migration, but I guess this should work as well with this IDOC. Just make sure that you do not overwrite other data in material master.

  • Data Migration for Territory Management Data in CRM 7.0

We are currently upgrading from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0.  I am trying to understand how the Territory Management Data Migration process is going to work.  A requirement for us is to have all history from CRM 5.0 Territory Management available in CRM 7.0.
When executing program CRM_TERRMAN_DATA_MIGRATION, it appears that is is only creating a rule for the active atributes in CRMM_TERRATTRIB.  How can rules be created for inactive attributes?  Is it possible with the Data Migration Program?

You can consider a writing a custom program to migrate Territory attributes. You can use the FMs CRM_TERRMAN_SINGLE_READ_BUFFER, BAPI_TERRITORY_ATTR_CHANGE for that purpose.
Refer to my article below which may be useful-

  • Data Migration for Open Purchase Order

    Hi, All,
Is there anyone know how to Count the volume for Open Purchase Order. What's the normal strategy for the Data Migration and Cut-over stage?
My client want to know how many Open Purchase Order in the legacy system and then determine manual or automatic data migration. If manual, how to do? If automatic, how to do? Because all materials and vendors, plants are different number. How to track? How to find out to match between new and old?
    Thank you very much

    JC,
Sounds a bit early to be making decisions about the realization phase.  It doesn't sound like you have finished the Blueprinting phase yet, much less the testing phase.
Anyhow, in my experience I typically use LSMW (Legacy system migration workbench) to load MM master data (material masters), Inventory (WIP, RM, FG, etc) Purchasing Master data (Vendors, Purchase Info Records, Source Lists, Quota Arrangements), and Purchasing transactional documents (POs, PurReqs, Scheduling Agreements, etc).  Depending on the complexity and volume of data, it  may be necessary to write custom programs to load the data.  You will find this out during your requirements gathering.
It is uncommon but possible to load all of these data manually.  I have never run across a client that wants to pay a consultant's hourly rate to sit at a terminal to peck away loading master data, so if the client intends to have his own users enter the data manually, the project manager should make provision that there will be qualified TRAINED client employees available for this data entry.  I did help with a portion of a conversion once manually; of Sales Credits, but there were only about 30 SD docs to load.   I did this the evening before go-live day, while I was waiting for some of my LSMW projects to complete in the background.
A good opportunity to 'practice' your data loads is right after you have completed your development and customization, and you have gotten the approval from the client to proceed from the pilot build to the full test environment.  Once you have moved your workbench and customization into the client's test environment, but before integration testing, you can mass load all, or a substantial portion of your conversion data into the qual system.  You can treat it like a dry run for go-live, and fine tune your processes, as well as your LSMW projects.
Yes, it is good practice to generate comparisons between legacy and SAP even if the client doesn't ask for it. For Purchase orders on the SAP side, you could use any of the standard SAP Purchasing reports, such as ME2W, ME2M, ME2C, ME2L, ME2N.  If these reports do not meet the requirements of the client, you could write a query to display the loaded data, or have an ABAPer write a custom report.
You didn't ask, but you should also do comparisons of ALL loaded data - including master data.
It sounds like you are implying that the client wants YOU to extract the legacy data.  For an SAP consultant, this is not very realistic (unless the legacy system is another SAP system).  Most of us do not understand the workings of the myriad legacy systems.  The client is usually expected to produce one or more legacy system technical experts for you to liase with.  You normally negotiate with the technical expert about every facet of of the data migration.  In addition, you will liase with business users, who will help you and the implementation team to logically validate that the final solution (turnkey SAP production system, fully loaded with data) will meet the client's business needs.
Finally, you mentioned how do you track the mapping of master data between legacy and SAP.  There are many ways to do this.  I normally try to get the legacy person do the conversion on his end, eg, when he gives you the load file, you would like to have already translated the master data and inserted the SAP relevant values into the file.  If this is not possible, I usually use MS Access databases to maintain a master map, and I perform the mapping on a PC.  If your data package is small, you can probably get by using MS Excel or similar.
    Good Luck,
    DB49

  • Data migration for Securities

    Hello
I have been going the suggestions on the  thread below,
    Data Migration Strategy for Securities
I would like to clarify at which price do i  book securities on cut off date, here is an example
my cut off date is 31/12/2009 and i have the following deals
    1 .   Purchase of R207 bond (04I) nominal 10million on 06/06/2009 price 98%
      2.      Sale of R207 bond   5million on 11/11/2009 price 97%
My balance nominal as at cut off on R207 bond is 5Million so on the 31/12/2009 i will book on TS01 5 MILLION on what price, currently on QA  we booked all deals at original prices including all sales. Note that we do MTM on 04I and amortisation on  04X bonds.
    Thank you in advance
    Regards
    Victor
    Data Migration Strategy for Securities

    Hi Victor,
looking into your example, it seems you have outstanding balance of 5 mio of certain bond and result (P&L) of difference between purchase (10 mio) and sales (5mio) should be booked in Y2009 and is already included in financial figures in Legacy system. If you say that you use plain Mart-to-Market Valuation for this particular type bond, so the Balance value is dependant on Market price on last date of the Y2009.

    Hi All,
is it possible to data migartion for PO release strategy, PO Conditions(pricing), PO History ?
If yes, please advice how i can achive this.
    Thanks

    PO Release strategy
You can not do the Migration of release strategy. You need to configure separately. It is better to follow the SAP notes to avoid inconsistancy.
For transportation of release strategy from one client to another client please follow the SAP notes
    SAP Note 86900 & 45951
    PO Conditions
You can do the data migration of condition records by using LSMW or BDC program. Please explain your requirement clearly
    PO History
Do you want to migrate all the GR & IR? What is your requirment? Are you migrating Legacy to SAP.
Only open POs can be migrated.
    Explain your requirement in detail.

  • Legacy transaction data migration for Shopping cart

    Dear SAP Gurus,
We have client rquirenment to migrate all the Legacy transaction data to SRM shopping cart (SRM 7.0),
    kindly suggest for the same.
    Regards,
    Vinod
Edited by: Vinod Malagi on Jul 16, 2010 11:44 AM

    Hi Vinod,
Depending on the documents you wish to transfer there may be several ways that they can achieve this.
    1. Set up middleware to map your legacy format to SRM format then call BAPI (SRM) to create the documents (this is a consulting project).
    2. Use the (purchasing documents) upload/download functionalities provided by SRM. The upload/download functionalities support Excel tab-delimited format. You have to ensure that you conform to this file structure. You can get more information about this at http://help.sap. com/saphelp_srm2007/helpdata/en/45/f725350ce02312e10000000a11466f/frames et.htm .
Whatever you wish to do here amounts to an "integration project" which requires a consulting solution which is why you would not find a document clearly outlining how to do it. Hope that helps.
    Kind Regards,
    Lisa

  • Data Migration for Responsibilities

    Hello Everyone,
I wanted to migrate responsibilities from our legacy systems to SAP C4C and for that I am using standard migration template available in C4C but unfortunately the file size which we have after filling this template is more than the size allowed i.e. 165 MB  hence I am not able to migrate this data to C4C.
I tried .zip format but that is not working and getting the same message that "file size is more than the allowed size". I also tried "splitting this big file" and then migrate but the previous data is getting removed and only second part of the file data is available in C4C.
Need your suggestions if you have also faced same kind of issues.
    Thanks in advance !!!

    Hi Manindra,
You should break down your file into small chunks say instead of using 1 big file go for 10 or 15 files.
As Pragya mentioned, SAP provides 4 modes of migrating the Legacy data into C4C. You can choose any one of the mode from the property button in migration tool. Following are the four modes:
    1.  Add New Record : You should select this option.
    2. Enhance Already Existing records
    3. Modify already existing records
    4. Replace already existing records
Just validate whenever you upload the file, you should have option 1 ( Add New Record ) selected.
