BW web access when the application server doesn't have a public ip

Hi everybody
I need to access bw queries via web from outside de organizational network.
I'm already checked the access from within the network and works fine, the question is:
what do I have to do to setup a machine with a public IP to forward the request to BW??
I understand that there is a sap message server which can redirect request to one or more applications servers. It's possible to run this server on my visible box, so that I can redirect requests??

Hi,
one way is to use the sap-web-dispatcher.
its a peace of software. you've to download, install and configure it on a server with a public IP.
The web dispatcher will point to your BW.

Applicaton Catalog - "Cannot connect to the application server" - Existing solutions have not worked

I have researched the problem below extensively online and found quite a varies array of solutions offered however they all seem to relate to the problem in that someone was setting up SCCM but couldn't get it to work. My situation is different in that the
feature was working, no settings were changed however it has now stopped working.
The issue is that if any user attempts to use the app catalog, they are shown the error screen which says "Cannot connect to the application server". It then says the problem might be temporary, try again later etc however it's not temporary.
All the settings for the app catalog appear to be correct, as I would expect them to be as it was working (I am new to this company, the Desktop manager has told me it was working a few weeks ago).
Does anyone know of a service in Windows, maybe something to do with the SQL side or certificates that could cause this issue? (although I checked certificates and again, looks fine). I'm almost at the point now of just restarting the server because
if all else fails, turn it off and on again right?

Hi, I just typed a long reply to this and then accidentally clicked a favourite on the Favourites bar and lost everything I typed :(
-Checked the path in IIS to the \SMS_CCM\CMApplicationCatalog folder was OK and it was.
-Checked that required .NET components including WCF are installed.
-This one seemed a bit strange but ensured local service account has access to C:\Windows\Temp (this seemed very basic and unlikely but I tried it anyway due to desperation).
-Checked that self-signed certificate was trusted by my PC attempting to access the App Catalog.
-Checked SCCM services on the server are all running (where they should be, or set to manual as appropriate).
I'm sure I've tried more than this, but these are the main things I can remember.

I have a Invoice in the directory abc/test on the application sever but when the third party is trying to access the same thru FTP it says that Ur not authorised even though he is able to see the file.
Could any body tell me what might be the reason and how to resolve the same

Hi,
I think you can see a file in application server, but you need some authorizations to read or modify it, which can be restricted to some users in the system. So check if there are required authorizations given to third party user ID.

When the schema/user doesn't have an entry in dba_ts_quotas

DB version:11.2.0.2
Developers have been creating/dropping objects in LANTS_ENTMT_NA_DEV_01 schema for several weeks now. Today, while trying to create a table in this schema they got
ORA-01536: space quota exceeded for tablespace 'LANTS_DATA'So, I wanted to check the quota allocated to this user. But this user doesn't have an entry in dba_ts_quotas ! This means that this user was never granted any quota on any tablespace . Right ?
But, I am curious , without any QUOTA , how this user was able to create objects in its default tablespace until now and suddenly get "ORA-01536: space quota exceeded" error today.

I've just bought a 2nd hand iMac running 10.7.5 but I can't get my HP Laserjet 2200DN up and running. The Applications Printers doesn't have an HP driver

I've just bought a reconditioned iMac running OSX 10.7.5 but I can't get my HP Laserjet 2200DN printer up and running. I used a Firewire cable to transfer all my stuff over to the iMac from a Power PC G5. However, the printer driver disappeared. The Print & Scan pane in System Preferences is now empty and when I press the + to add a printer the Add Printer pane has nothing in it either. Apple says os 10.7.5 already has printer software installled, but not on my iMac. It says in its list of compatible printers that it supports HP Laserjet 2200 (is absence of the 'DN' suffx siginifcant?) Apple also says to use Software Update to check if software is needed. Manual downloading from Apple, who say they've taken over from HP for this software doesnt' work either - I get a two-part download, one file is an unopenable '.dmg' document and the other is a '.dmg.part' document, similarly unopenable. I'm completely stumped. The HP Laserjet 2200DN is an excellent printer that serves all my needs but I'm beginning to think it may be too old for the iMac, but I sincerely hope not. Anybody out there with workable advice about how to solve this issue? I'd love to hear from you.

Firstly, in Safari you will find a button on the right side of the toolbar: note the downward pointing arrow. If you click on that you will get the download progress bar.
I don't know what may be the problem with getting the driver working. I suggest you open Print & Scan preferences. CTRL- or RIGHT-click anywhere in the blank Printers list and click on the "Reset printing system" item in the context menu.
Assuming you have installed the printer drivers you downloaded by running the installer that appears after you mount the .dmg file, click on the Add [+] button to Add a printer. A window should open with your printer listed, hopefully (the printer must be turned on and already connected to the computer. Do a direct connection while getting this configuration set up.) Select the printer. Now, if the driver model name does not appear in the "Use:" dropdown menu, you will need to look for it in the list of available drivers. Once found, select it, then click on the Add button.

How do I remove a suggested email address on iPhone when the suggestioned address DOESN'T have a blue i next to it?

I want to remove some email addresses from the list of suggested email addresses which appear in iPhone's Mail app.
All of the ways I've found so far to remove suggested email addresses involve clicking on a blue arrow or i next to the suggested name. However, the suggestion(s) I want to remove have nothing on which to click. How can suggested addresses be removed without something to click?

Here's the solution (it's what you suggested):
If the old email address is in the contacts no blue circle i appears. The blue circle indicates it is in recent but not in contacts.
You need two step procedure:
1. remove email from contacts (try doing a Search for it if necessary);
2. and then remove from recent by starting a new email, starting to enter email address (which brings up the Recent suggestions), then click on the blue circle i (which should now be there because you removed email address from Contacts), select Remove from Recent).

they automatically yield to other threads running in the application server after
they have run for a certain amount of time or do they only yield when certian
points in the code are reached (eg when they have completed, when they reach a
remote call or when they explictly call yield()).

Green threads (way back in 1.1.8 and so on) was Unix only, and non-preemptive.
It was also very lumpy and unreliable. Old threading tutorials used to recommend
calling yield() and suitable points in your code - just like Windows 3.0 all over
again.
But all current JVM implementations use OS threading, and are pre-emptive (but
of course that doesn't stop them being blocked due to synchronization or I/O etc...)

How to archive billing docs in PDF format on the application server?

I want to archive billing docs in PDF format on the application server.
Formerly on our SAP system, Archivelink was set up to archive these documents to an HTTP content server. Since we no longer have this server, I want to adapt it to simply output the PDFs to a filesystem on the application server. I have tried to reconfigure the content repository (tcode OAC0) without success.
Am I on the right track?
If so, which document area, storage type, etc should I use?

from DMS point of view you may use the storage category 'DMS_C1_ST' and the content repository 'DMS_C1' as a kind of template. The document area for DMS storage categories has to be maintained as 'DMS'.

Deployment of Web Application when the managed Server is down .....

Part of our installation, we want to deploy our web application on to a managed server.
So, we use the JMX API calls to deploy the web application. But, at the time of this deployment the managed server is not brought up. So, our expectation was that when the managed server is brought up later, it will automatically STAGE the web application from Admin Server and then, deploy it in the managed server.
But, what is happending is that the web application is not being deployed to the managed server (even though the web application is configured to be deployed in the specified managed server in the config.xml and it is set as the default application of the managed server application).
We are using WebLogic 7.0 SP2 on RedHat Linux 7.2.
Can anyone help to deploy web application on to a managed server when the managed server is down ?

if you have more than one application server running in your BI system (see at transaction SM51) be aware that your infopackage will be executed on the right one. Each application server has its own file system and your job need to run on the server your file is stored on.
Also check if the os user of the SAP system itself (<sid>adm on Unix) has rights to read that file.

Integrating Web server (eg Apache) with the application server

I am thinking a project in which I use more static HTML files than JSPs. One way is to use an Apache server to display those HTML files (it should be faster), and deploy the JSPs into the J2EE server; another way is just simple to change the web container�s port to 80 (of the PE 8), and wrap all the files into a war file and deploy it into the application server.
So can someone advise my which way is better? And if I use the first one, I�d like to know if it is the same way to integrate Apache with Tomcat.

In the past there has been a belief that the Apache web server serves static content faster than tomcat. Site managers would configure apache to deliver static content and integrate a web container to handle the dynamic content. I believe this argument is losing steam as tomcat gets better. I guess the only way you will know for sure is to deploy your application in PE 8.0 and then in an apache/web container configuration and do some benchmarking. I have no such benchmark data to compare and I base my comments on what I have read in newsgroups over the past months. Personally, I would opt for the app server only setup just to ease configuration. Others may have a different opinion.

i worked out with the statements in help file which is as follows

When trying to connect to the WebLogic Server Administration Server from WLST using localhost as the host name, the following message may be displayed if the listen-address attribute of the Administration Server has been restricted to certain IP addresses:

Workaround
Use either of the following workarounds:

For example, in the domain configuration file:

Were you able to resolve this? I am facing the same issue where my JDev is on a separate machine from the SOA server. Where is the "domain configuration file" located? I am running 11.1.1.6. Within JDev all the other options for the Application Server (Deployments, Servers, Web Services) return results quickly. SOA is throwing the error you mention.

How to find out the application server instance name?

I installed an Oracle application server a long long while ago and completely forgot the things about the installation, including the name of the instance (I installed single instance, not cluster). Now I am trying to create a connection to the application server and I am prompted to fill in the instance name. Where in the installation can I find out the instance name?
The version of the server as displayed when the server is started:
$ ./oc4j -start

I am also reading the installation guide now and when looking at the server starting messages on the screen, I realize that installing the server in the oraInventory directory is not quite right. Does that interfere with the correct functioning of the server? I installed it but have never tried to use it until now.

The version of the server as displayed when the server is started:

09/10/08 16:04:39 Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.2.0) initializedThis 10.1.3.2.0 number is somewhat confusing. As I understand it, right now if you download a copy of the Application server from Oracle web site, the current version is 10.1.3.1.0.
Regarding the version numbers, this fourth digit refers to the Component-specific release number. The OAS documentation says this about it.
"This digit identifies a release level specific to a component. Different components can have different numbers in this position depending upon, for example, component patch sets or interim releases."
I am also reading the installation guide now and when looking at the server starting messages on the screen, I realize that installing the server in the oraInventory directory is not quite right. Does that interfere with the correct functioning of the server? I installed it but have never tried to use it until now.

NewmanI think Oracle software should always be installed in a separate directory. I think it may also generate errors in its functioning but it will certainly create a whole lot confusion and mess in later administration and configurations.
