BW Workspaces: Can CompositeProvider Query be run in Design Studio?

Dear Community,
I've been working on BW Workspaces for quite a while now, and as I wanted to create a more Dashboard-like feeling for my Analysis, I came across Design Studio.
Now I wonder, if I can run a Query defined on top of a CompositeProvider in Design Studio and use it to create my Dashboard. Is this possible?
I found information on connection directly to a Workspace (or even CompositeProvider) but no hint concerning Queries.
I appreciate your comments and helps!
Regard,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I have not tried this personally.
But I remember reading somehere that it was not possible to copy the queries using RSZC eventhough the structure of both Composite Providers were same.
In your case, I believe the structure is also changed after the addition of new Characteristic and am afraid if you will be able to copy due to that change.

  • Can we display a value in design studio 1.2

    Hi All,
    I am struggling with this issue.
    I am using sap design studio 1.2 without any custom components.
    Requirement is to display some high level numbers in the boxes.
    I can not see any component capable of doing that. Can anyone advice me on that please?

    Optionally, you can also use text elements:
    Then you calculate the KPI with getData and insert it into the box with setText, e.g.:
    var KPI_1 = DS_1.getData(KF1_CUID, {}).value;
    var KPI_2 = DS_1.getData(KF2_CUID, {}).value;
    TEXT_1.setText(Convert.floatToString(KPI_1 / KPI_1 * 100,"#0.0")+" %");
    Best regards,

  • How can i check when a given query was run

    how can i check when a given query was run ( i mean the timestamp ) from forms
    I am trying to run the query depending on when it was last run

    Hello,
    I'm not sure to really understand your need, but if you want to refresh the data blocks regularly, you can use a timer that would execute_query on the block every elapsed period of time.
    Anyway, there is no "timestamp" of this kind, so that you would store the information somewhere in memory on in a table, from a PRE-SELECT or POST-SELECT trigger for instance.

  • Running a query in a View Designer results in an error, but running the same query in a Query window works

    Hi everyone,
    Just as my title says, I have a query which I've written in a query window and it works perfectly.
    But when I try to add the query code into the view designer, it throws a Syntax error.
    Error in ON clause near '('.Unable to parse query text.
    Also, when running the query from the view designer (pressing red exclamation mark) I get a different error.
    SQL Execution Error.Executed SQL statement: SELECT Sku, ParentSku, UPC, ...Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data ProviderError Message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
    Has anyone else experienced this and is there any workaround?
    I have tried to create the view with T-SQL (CREATE VIEW etc.), but when opening it in the view designer I get the error from the 1st image.
    Thank you,
    Radu

    Hi Radu,
    Yes, I have faced similar issue. I had a View and it was working totally fine but when once I opened it in via right click - View Design, it was giving parse error.
    Cause is that Query designer parse and executes the query without error but the way View designer works, it can't parse it.
    Later I ignored View desinger and just used T-SQL like CREATE/ALTER view.
    Workaround is to do right click on View - Script View as - CREATE To/ ATER To.
    Regarding Timeout error, again the issue with View designer which couldn't execute query in there and ended up with timeout error.
    If your SELECT query and SELECT * FROM YourView works fine in Query designer, you are good to go.

    Hi Lambertus,
    I also face same problem. Please can you elaborate the solution you described or what should I be asking my basis team to do to solve this issue.

  • Oracle Sql Query issue Running on Different DB Version

    Hello All,
    I have come into situation where we are pruning sql queries on different DB version of Oracle and have performance issue. Let me tell you in brief and i really appreciate for your prompt response as its very imperative stuff.
    I have a query which is running on a DB of version 7.3.4 and it takes around 30 mins where as the same query when run on 8i it takes 15sec., its a huge difference. I have run the statistics to analyze on 7.3 and its comparatively very high. Question here is, the sql query trys to select data from same schema table and 2 tables from another DB using DB link and 2 other tables from another DB using DB link.So,how can we optimize this stuff and achieve this run as same time as 8i DB in 7.3. Hope i am clear about my question, Eagerly waiting for your replies.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Difficult to be sure without any more detailed information, but I suspect that O7 is in effect copying the remote tables to local temp space, then joining; 8i is factoring out a better query to send to the remote DBs, which does as much work as possible on the remote DB before shipping remaining rows back to local.
    You should be able to use EXPLAIN PLAN to identify what SQL is being shipped to the remote DB, If you can't (and it's been quite a while since I tried DB links or O7) then get the remote DBs to yourself, and set SQL_TRACE on for the remote instances. Execute the query and then examine the remote trace files, And don't forget to turn off the tracing when you're done.
    Of course it could just be that the CBO got better,,,
    HTH - if not, post your query and plans for the local db, and the remote queries.

  • Query is running but status shows INACTIVE

    Hi All,
    I am running one query and is still running but when i checked v$session the status shows INACTIVE since long time..
    Can somebody please help me to understand why the status is INACTIVE even if the query is running.. Is my session waiting for some resources?
    Also i checked v$session_wait it shows "SQL*Net message from client"
    Oracle version 9.2.0.7.0
    OS : SunOS 5.10
    Module : Sql*Plus
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    -Harsh

    Thanks much for your reply Mark.
    This session i myself running from sqlplus and its still running.
    Also here's my session info
    select SID, STATUS, program, module, last_call_et from v$session where SID=78;
    SID     STATUS     PROGRAM     MODULE     LAST_CALL_ET
    78     INACTIVE     sqlplus.exe     SQL*PLUS     0
    I checked the locks too there is no blocking or blocked sessions using following.
    select /*+ RULE */ a.session_id, s.serial#, s.username, s.status
    from dba_locks a, v$session s
    where a.blocking_others = 'Blocking'
    and a.session_id = s.sid
    order by 1;
    Now under v$session_wait my session 78 is showing wait as 'db file sequential read'
    So is my session now waiting for resources? Can you please help me how to find that my query has enough resources or if not does my session is under wait.
    Thanks
    -Harsh

  • OLAP Query not running

    Hi Gurus
    I am getting and exception while executing a MDX Query through OLAP Query .
    All my queries were running properly until yesterday from OLAP query as well as through MDXTest TCode .
    But today it gives me an excetion
    com.sap.lhcommon.webservice.SoapException: The XML for Analysis provider encountered an error
    I know it is generic error description for any kind of error back from BW but here situation is
    My query is running from MDXTest with out any problem .
    Any ideas on this like where to see the logs..etc?
    Thanks in advance.
    -Hari

    It is solved.
    It was because User which we used for configuring data server doesn't have enough roles.
    I have created a new connection with my user name and it works .
    But interesting thing here is, it was working with the system user i was using with old roles and security team claims that they haven't changed any role for that user . But last day that user locked because of pswd expriration and it was unlocked .After wards my OLAP Queries are stopped working .
    And its really pain with out getting proper error message from OLAP Query.
    From my experience to debug these kind of errors:
    Make sure your MDX query runs from MDX Test .
    If it runs successfully, then we can narrow down to the connection setting in MII .
    Thanks
    Hari

  • How we can get the current running user information in BusinessOne

    Hi experts,
    How we can get the current running user information in BusinessOne Application,
    Based on the user details i want to assign some functionality,
    Regards,
    Saidarao yakkala

    Hi,
    As per me you can't get detail by server side.
    If you want to know who are connected then you can use sp_who2 procedure in SQL query.
    That will display who are login.
    For more detail you have to check LOG file on client side in SAP B1 > Log folder.
    Thanks
    Kevin

  • When the page onload  the query must run.

    I put bind variables in a view objects. When the page onload the query must run. i added ExecuteWithParams , invokeaction in page definition. And i added in java bean follow codes. And then i added this code in Page definition like this
    <pageDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"
    version="10.1.3.40.66" id="evrakPageDef"
    Package="view.pageDefs" ControllerClass="#{evrak}">
    evrak java code :
    String evr= "20070002362";
    String krm= "02030000";
    String prt= "B";
    String prs= "60711630";
    AdfFacesContext faces= AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    faces.getProcessScope().put("evrak",evr);
    faces.getProcessScope().put("kurumcode",krm);
    faces.getProcessScope().put("pertur",prt);
    faces.getProcessScope().put("sicil",prs);
    When the *.jspx page onload , the query is not running. the items are empty.
    What can i do anymore?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    - create the binding fro the ExecuteWithParams
    - go to the binding and expand it
    - select the argument items and use EL to provide the values (if not they are static)
    - create a invokeAction in the executable section of the binding
    - point the invoke action to the execute with params method
    - run the page

  • Executing PL-SQL Query before running a Report

    Hi Guys,
    Can i use a Run a Pl-Sql Query every time before executing a report. Like if i am opening a report then the pl-sql Query should run before it.
    Thanks
    Rondo.

    Try with Evaluate as one of the column's expression.. so that we can limit to specific report..
    or
    Use Connection Pool->Connection Pool Scripts tab->use 'Execute before query'
    Since we can set the repository variables using advanced tab.. the same variable we may validate using Connection pool scripts tab.
    This might be more dev work..

  • How do I find out which query are running??

    My client is connecting to the database and running application through the web. From the Unix system, I know his job took 99% of CPU time and running for 1 hour already. Is there anyway I can find out which query are running in the Oracle?? So I can tune this query?? thanks..

    Hi,
    You can use the following query to identify it.
    set linesize 100
    set pagesize 100
    SELECT substr(sql_text,1,40) sql,executions, rows_processed,
    rows_processed/executions "Rows/Exec",
    hash_value,address
    FROM V$SQLAREA WHERE executions > 100 AND rownum <= 10
    ORDER BY executions DESC;
