BW30B install with Oracle 9.2 - Install error
I am trying to install BW30B with Oracle 9.2 on a Sun Solaris 64bit machine. I am using Exceed to display the installation GUI.
I keep getting the error message:
Unable to access file <Path>/SAPENV.SH Permission Denied.
I am running the install with root permissions. The above path does exist and I have given all the files 777 rights. I have in turn given the <SID>adm and ora<SID> directories 777 access. It looks like its trying to copy the scripts from the /UNIX/COMMON/INSTALL directory into the <SID>adm & ora<SID> directories when it fails.
By Default none of us have root permissions. To work around this we start the installation as sapadm and add the install path to the sudo list so that the install runs with root permissions.
Eg: sapadm> sudo /sapcd/BWINSTALL/INSTALL
The destination filesystem is remotely mounted, though i think that's not the problem as we have successfully installed SAP from that path before. The error message from the sapinst log file is below. Also the userid's have already been created and I have set their home directories to 777 permissions.

Hi johnny,
You should first check the hosts file to see if the correct hostname and the IP address are shown. You can also check if the "hostname" command returns the correct result. If everything looks good so far, then next check if command "nslookup" returns the correct IP address. If the nslookup <hostname> command returns error, you will need to talk to the Domain Name Server (DNS) administrator to correct this network configuration problem.

How can I connect the remote server which is installed with oracle
Now my computer is in my home,in my computer there is installed with the oracle 9i client, the server is also installed with oracle 9i,which is in my company. Now I want to use sql*plus to connect the database of the server through the internet work.I have created one listener service name in my home computer, but can't test successfully and the sql*plus can't connect the database.Who can tell me how to do it?Thank you!
Technical questions need to be addressed to one of the technical forums-- Products | Database | Database - General in this case.
Unless you are VPN-ing in or the DBA's at your company have configured Oracle Connection Manager to allow you to connect through the firewall to the database, however, I doubt this will work. If they have configured Connection Manager, you'll have to ask them to provide you with connection information. 99.9% of the time, you do not want people to access a database via the internet.

Installing with Oracle or MS-SQL
Hello,
Is there a PDF or some page with the necessary setup to install LiveCycle ES Reader Extensions with Oracle and MS-SQL Server?
Thank you for any info.
MarcosHi Srikant,
I have worked on similar stuff, but the scenario was a little different. I worked on creating Web Services using EJBs, but the basic part was that, the web service was supposed to interact with the SQL Server database. So maybe I can help you...
First thing which is needed is that you have created the JDBC Connector in your Visual Administrator correctly. If you wish to cross check, you can see my answer in the following thread:
JDBC error
In this thread itself I have given the code which is the solution to your problem (this is what i believe). I am pasting the code again:
<b>InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
DataSource dataSource = (DataSource)initialContext.lookup("jdbc/MyAlias");
java.sql.Connection connection = dataSource.getConnection();</b>
You can use this code in the method of your EJB, and then you can easily use this connection object to access your database tables using SQL queries.
And if by any chance you are looking for a step wise procedure for creating a web service from an EJB, then give me your email address, i will send you the doc.
Bye
Ankur

Silent mode install with Oracle 8.0.5
Hi all,
Does anybody know if it is possible to perform a silent setup with Oracle 8.0.5, and how to do it.
Thanks by advance for your help.
Laurent.Yes. You need to use the Oracle8i 8.1.6 JDBC driver with XSU, but it can connect to an 8.0.5 instance.

Does OAS Enterprise manager console install when Oracle DB EM installed?
I installed Oracle database 10gR2 on my development machine. After that I installed Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3.1.0
Although I opted to install the EM component I don't think that it did install.
Here is the install readme found in OAS_HOME\install\readme.txt:
The installation of Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3.1.0 was successful.
These instructions are located in C:\OracleAS_1\install\readme.txt for your future reference.
You can view the status of the server with the following command:
C:\OracleAS_1\opmn\bin\opmnctl status
Access the Welcome Page with the following URL:
http://main:80/
Application Server Control Console is not running in this instance of Oracle Application Server. You can manage this instance remotely through another instance of Oracle Application Server that is configured to run Application Server Control Console.
Installation Details:
Installation Directory: C:\OracleAS_1
Installation Type: J2EE Server and Web Server
Installed Components: Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Containers for J2EE (OC4J), and Oracle Process Manager & Notification Server (OPMN)
Instance Name: orcl.main
Administrator Username: oc4jadminIn the case of the database and the application server being on the same machine, should I be able to access two different EM consoles? If so then why can't I seem to access the OAS EM console (I can access the database EM).Problem discussed and solved here:

Repmanger did not come installed with oracle 10.2.0.1.0g
Hi,
I am trying to recreate the configuration files and repository for Database Console.
i.e. I run the following command:
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
The error message I get when running the command is:
17-Mar-2008 12:03:50 oracle.sysman.emcp.util.PlatformInterface executeCommand
CONFIG: Starting execution: CMD /C C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager.bat -connect (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MACHINE1)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=DB1))) -repos_user SYSMAN -action drop -verbose -output_file C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\cfgtoollogs\emca\CHARM\emca_repos_drop_2008-03-17_12-03-50-PM.log

CONFIG: Exit value of 1
17-Mar-2008 12:03:50 oracle.sysman.emcp.util.PlatformInterface executeCommand
CONFIG: The system cannot find the path specified.
The error message is correct I do not appear to have Repmanger.bat in the location specified or anywhere else. In fact I don't have the "emdrep\bin\" directories. I checked the live server, development server, backup server for the files/directories, and client install disk (got from oracle downloads) but they don't appear there either.
Does anyone know how I can hold of the files?
Regards,
AndrewI see you obviously invoke the command from a client ORACLE_HOME environment. Database Console is part of a server installation, I also cannot find repmanager.bat in a client home, but in a server home only.

Why do CC apps fail to install with a Media DB 6 error?
Can't install any CC apps onto Maverics OS. Installation fails at 42% with an error 15, media DB 6 error message.
Thank you for your reply. I have 842GB available on disc. I cleared the earliest CS2 and CS3 from my apps along with any previous CC installer with Adobe Cleaner just in case these were causing issues. I also repaired permissions. It repaired everything except an SUID file in System/Library ... I restarted and reinstalled the CC installer and again installation failed with the same error message as before:
Exit Code: 15
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR:
- 0 fatal error(s), 1 error(s)
ERROR: Media DB Error: 6
As a test, I installed Mavericks on a clean external hard drive and then attempted to install CC apps on there. This worked fine. So it is something on my Mac HD that's causing the issue. I already repaired permissions. If this is something to do with a Media DB file, what kind of error is it and what can I do? I wonder if it's best to just back everything up, wipe the disc and do a clean install? -
Does wls8.1 install with oracle jdbc drivers in the classpath by default?
I just went through the 8.1 install tonight and it looks to me like the
oracle jars are in the default weblogic classpath.
set
WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH=%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic_s
p.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\ojdbc14.jar
Why is that? I don't have oracle, and with just learning how to use wls, it
took me a bit of time to finally figure this piece out (trying to get MySQL
drivers loaded). Not everyone has Oracle installed, so why put it on the
classpath for all servers/domains when they startup?
Thanks.I'm not sure what the best practice is.
The Oracle driver is set in
bea/weblogic81/common/commEnv.cmd or commEnv.sh.
There is a WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH that has the jars in it and I always
put my stuff at the beginning.
I suspect that the preferred way of doing this is to update
/bea/weblogic81/samples/domains/examples/startExamplesServer.cmd
or whatever script is used to start the server.
"Flip" <[remove][email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]...
Hey Stephen, thanks for the reply.
You got it to work without probs? COOL! :> Where did you stick the driver
and where did you put the jar reference (in which cmd/sh file and where
abouts in the file)? Inquiring minds want to know! :>>>> I tried looking
on the web, but I was referenced to some PRE_CLASSPATH params, as well, as
putting it into my own directories... I'm just looking to find out what dir
is the best practise to dump the jar file into and where to put the
reference in a classpath.
One small note, I do dev in WIN and run production on linux (that might
change soon, but that's another question, and another server :>).
Thanks.
PS BEA, nice domain config wizard with 8.1! Very sweet, I like the
integrated connection pool and datasource creation!

The Oracle driver (client jar) is shipped in the box. Having it in theCLASSPATH makes it easier
for customers that use it.
If you don't use it and you want to use another driver, it won't get inthe way
since your alternate driver will have a different classname.
I installed and ran MySQL with no problems.

Or I guess a related question is what version of apache comes with the latest App Server Patch Set (10.1.3.4.0)?
We are running OAS 10.1.3.3.x and we are having issues with URLs that end in a number but which have query parameters at the end.
E.g. http://<stuff_here>/1?type=table&format=html
The URLs come from REST-ful GET operations. It seems like the HTTP server just ignores the query parameters completely.
When we run against stand-alone OC4J which includes an embedded HTTP server, such URLs work as expected.
We are hoping that perhaps the latest patch set for the full Oracle Application Server 10g will overcome this issue.
But if we need to move to a later Oracle HTTP Server (like the one that comes as an option for the Oracle 11g database installation) we would be willing to do so.
Comments related to this are welcome.
Thanks
JimHi,
Does anyone have experiece getting Apex working with secured BI publisher?
The error I am getting when PDF printing from Apex to BI pub is:
"ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.
Error failed
OK "
Please note, network services in 11G are already configured; thus I am able to print from Apex to non-secured BI pub.

Can odbc gateway be installed with oracle xe?
I would like to access other databases through oracle XE. Can ODBC gateway be used to accomplish this? I am hoping to connect to Dbase, Access and QuickBooks if anyone has any experience with those particular DBs

Any particularly helpful documents would be appreciatedThis should be helpful in putting the pieces together:

OWB x64 bit client installed with RDBMS does not work?
Has anyone tried the OWB 11gR1 (11.1.0.7) client installed with Oracle database x64? I found out that I could not perform the following tasks:
1. could not create a new table
2. could not import MDL file the first time for a project (only project name is added; I had to run the second time to get all the profile and maps imported)
It throw out an OWB internal error and hangs after having the above two problems. Is there any configuration need to be done to get it to work correctly?
Thanks,
