by default new document/templates start with above, How I change to be Strict 1.0 XHTML ?
Tell me for Dw MX2004 & CS4 ?
If I start with Transitional 1.0 XHTML and want to change to Strict 1.0 XHTML the only way is modify code or make a new doc ?

Using CS4, there are a few ways to do it:
1.  when creating a new document - you can select the doc type preference.
2.  In your preferences, you can set up which document type will be opened when you select a new document.
3.  If you start with one doctype and want to convert it to another use:

  • How can I change the format of the default new document?

Hi, I've recently upgraded to Pages 5.1 and am wondering how I can change the formatting of the default 'new document' template. Any suggestions would be most welcome,

  • Edit "New Document-template"

Ik work with Dreamweaver a lot (CS3) and I create a lot of
sites. Every site though, has the same folder structure.
Is there a way to edit the "New Document" template for let's
say... default css/javascript includes (link and script tags) and
just a basic html layout (wrapper, header divs, etc...).
I was also wondering if it is possible to automatically
create a standard folder structure when setting up a new site
inside DW? I always have the same structure so it would be great if
I could skip the step to create those manually.

    Huh?
When you do FILE | New > Basic HTML, you want the page
    that opens to contain
all of your standard stuff? Sure - you can do that. What is
    your OS?

I don't know any way to do that.

In Pages capitalization doesn't work as described. One can start with lower case and change to upper, but changing from upper case to any of the other options doesn't work. Is there a way around this or is this just a glitch that needs fixing?

I think it does work as described, but the description is not very complete. Capitalization does not change any of the characters that you type; what it does is allow some of the lower case characters to display as capitals. If you copy the result and paste it as plain text, you'll see that the lower case characters are still there. It doesn't actually say anywhere that it can make capitals display as lower case, and it can't.
The obvious way around this is to actually type what you want.
The more powerful way is to install WordService from Devon Technologies which adds the functionality of Pages' capitalization menu as well a lot of other ones. WordService actually changes the character to the one displayed, and it works in most of the applications on your Mac.

  • New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg image from the web (as in a right click on a pc?)

New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg from the internet, similar to using the right mouse click on a pc?

If your question comes about because you have a single button mouse, it's time to visit your local computer store and get a ''real'' mouse for that MAC. I don't "get" Apple, they sell their hardware for almost twice what a comparable PC would sell for - and then they leave out what is probably the most important time saving control, the right-button.
See this for setting the hidden pref for context menus in Firefox, for Mac's.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.click_hold_context_menus
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter
    Pref Name = '''ui.click_hold_context_menus'''
    Double-click to Toggle to '''True'''

Tools > Options > Tabs: [X] "Open new windows in a new tab instead"
You can look at the browser.link.open_newwindow prefs on the about:config page if you want to divert all JavaScript window.open() calls to a new tab.

  • Creating a new document in Finder with right-click--How?

Is there a way to create a new document in a Finder folder by right-clicking (or Ctrl-left)? So that the new file will be created at that very spot, in that very folder.
In Windows-Explorer this was quick and easy. Just right-click and you could choose from a menu to create a new empty doc of the most popular (installed) programs. Text file was mandatory. The file was created where the curser was at. VERY handy as that way you didn't have to open the application, create a new doc and then when saving having to crawl your way all the way to the position in the Explorer/ Finder.
Since I started with Apple and Tiger I've been missing this feature and Snow Leopard still does not seem to have it. Or did I miss something? I checked all the menue as well. There's not even a "Create new document". Only a "Create new folder".
I was just reminded of this when I wanted to create a new file on an external drive on a server to save some text in it. There was no way other than first opening Textedit, saving the empty file on the local Mac, THEN transferring the empty file to the server. Only THEN I could open it and edit it.
There MUST be a quicker way.
Also, in Windows you could edit this list in the menu (and add programs that would not by themselves do this). Is there a way for the Mac?
    Cheers,
    Jay

I might have just found a solution myself:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/10432377?messageID=10432377&amp%3b#1043237 7
It seems other people are wondering too.
And for those of you who don't understand why this is useful: Try it.
Open Textedit, Apple-N, and then save the darned file somewhere deep in the labyrinth of the Finder where you've just been but withouth the file. It takes AGES.
I, on the other hand -- at least in Windows --, right-click, new, double-click AAAND I'm on editing the file.
    VERY quick.
It's beyond me why this is not possible on a Mac.

  • Check in new documents in DMS with specific access permissions

    Hi,
we have an RFC which creates new documents in DMS.
This calls one after another these FBs:
    - CVAPI_DOC_CREATE
    - CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN
    - BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHANGE2 for a additional classification of the new document
Now we have a new request from our customer: to give the document specific access permissions.
    We try the following:
    - manually check in a document template with the necessary permissons.
    - the permissions are given in a classification  ("O,MW-T-D*,IB,02/03/52/53")
    - This is named "authority characteristic" and is checked somewhere else, I do not really know how this works in detail ( but it works)
    - check in a new document with a reference to the template and in expectation that the new document has the same classification and therefore the same access permissions
    - If I do this manually in CV03N is does work
    - We do this with CVAPI_CHECK_IN_WITH_TEMPLATE - but this FB does not copy the classification ( only the description and the attached original documents , and the documentnumber of the new document is an mandatory parameter which is not allowd in our case since we use internal creation of document numbers)
My question is: Is this a possible way to create new documents with specific permissions
Is there a possibility to give the permissions to the documenttype instead of give them to every single document of this documenttype ?
    Thanks
    Kerstin

My guess is that at some point you propagated the ACL entry for "everyone deny delete" to all your folders and sub-folders and their contents by selecting Apply to All in a GetInfo window. Try doing a search in the Leopard forums for
    ACL chmod
and you'll find a whole raft of discussions about the problem and suggestions for fixes.

Now here's a strange thing. I installed AI 14 on my laptop and set up a new
Document Profile exactly as I had done on the G5. On the G5 when I request a
new document it defaults to "Custom" albeit with the settings I had
specified. On the laptop it defaults to my named New Document Profile. So why
is the Profile name not displaying on the G5? Mystery. In a minute someone's
going to advise me to trash the preferences!

  • TextEdit new document window starts off screen

In TextEdit, if I create a new document, the window stretches off the bottom of the screen. The bounds of the window are {133, 53, 760, 882}. This behaviour takes place when the preference setting 'Wrap to page' is checked. If I create a second new document window while the first is still open, it fits within the screen at {154, 22, 781, 851} (it moves up to the right by 21 pixels). How can I get the first document to start within the screen's real estate?
If it is unchecked, the co-ordinates of the upper left corner of the new window are {133, 53}. The size of the window depends upon the font size. Note that the upper left corner also remains the same if I change paper sizes.
I have deleted the preferences but nothing has changed.
Does anyone know how to control the size and location of a new document window, with the 'wrap' feature checked?
    Thanks.

On my machines, wrap to page is enabled and I have window size set to 80x70 which works for me for years.

  • Trying to save default new document window location.

When you open up a new document (not from a template) it opens up (at least on my computer) in the upper left corner of the screen.
I would -- like -- it to open when I want it to open (bottom middle and smaller window).
What I do in other programs is open up the new document, position and size the window, then save it as a new template and set that template as the default document when opening a new document.
It isn't saving the window position. Any ideas?

After all the complaining many of us did about Pages 1 & 2 tiling new documents, they now open in the upper left if there are no other documents open. I agree, that when you set up a template, you expect new documents from it to open exactly as you saved the template. You need to leave feedback for the Pages team as ask for this. I ask not only for window position, but also window size. Every template of mine open to just one page even though most of mine are more than one page.

  • When typing an email I need each new sentence to automaticaaly start with a capital letter. At present after a full stop the new sentence automatically starts with a lower case letternot an upper case one

When typing an email new sentences do not automatically start with a capital letter after a full stop.
Surely this should happen automatically without the need for me to touch the capital letter icon.

Either you didn't actually call Apple, and got some tech support scammer instead (calling the first number that pops up on a Google search for "Apple support" can give you some bad numbers), or the Apple tech you spoke to didn't know what he's talking about. It's not a virus.
As for the problem, if you have enabled auto-capitalization and the problem continues, first try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.
