Bypassing Autologon in Windows 8.1 assigned access

Good day!
I am attempting to use Assigned Access in Windows 8.1 to set up a guest facing kiosk for our company. Our current kiosk software just isn't cutting the mustard right now, and Assigned Access is actually doing nearly everythign we ask of it!
I have set up a forced autologon in the registry (forceautologon=1, autoadminlogon=1), which is working perfectly. However, I don't have any way to escape the autologon now. In windows 7 and XP, I simply held down shift to break the cycle. I've tried tapping
the windows key 5 times while holding shift, but to no avail. Does anyone know how to break the cycle?

I created a simple
apicación in VB.NET, you just
need to enable remote logging on the machine
with  auto logon from your computer
and run the application. When
the session is opened on the remote machine
running NoLogin to disable the
automatic startup, closed session
and see that pressing OK and
not entered automatically, or
run it and restart your computer,if you want to
re-enable would be the same process.

  • Windows Phone Enterprise Assigned Access Feature - Find ProductId

    Hi folks,
We have an MDM server solution that talks to the Windows Phone clients. We wanted to put some apps to the start screen & this works fine via the XML commands we send following the Enterprise Assigned Access documentation.
We have also configured an exchange account via the server and it deploys happily on the device.
Now we would like to put a “shortcut” for the configured ExchangeAccount to the start screen as well.
Does anyone know how to find out the productid here? We tried the productid for e-mail, but this brings up only the e-mail configuration app.
We did not find anything for how to gather a productid for other shortcuts than apps from the store.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

  • Windows 8.1 Task Sequence and Assigned Access

    Hi all,
I have to build a few hundred kiosk machines with Windows 8.1, a custom LoB appx app, and assigned access. I am attempting to do it using SCCM OSD, but I have a couple of problems.
Appx applications cannot be installed during a task sequence, so is pre-provisioning via dism on the command line the answer?
It seems that assigned access can only be set up for local accounts (from an admin account) after the
local account has logged in at least once. How would this work as part of a task sequence?
    Any ideas welcome.
    Thanks,
    Simonie.

  • "Assign Access Control" returns error for essbase apps in shared services

    Hello,
I installed and configured Oracle EPM 11.1.2 (Foundation, Essbase, Planning, Reporting&Analysis):
    OS: Windows Server 2008 Sp2 (32bit)
    Default Installation with default ports,
Installation of all components on the same server,
    no clustering
EPM System Diagnostic says that everything is OK.
Now I want to assign filter access for an essbase database in the Shared Services.
Starting the menu item "Assign Access Control" in Shared Services returns the following error:
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    +10.4.5 404 Not Found+
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
    +....+
    Can anybody help ???
    best regards,
    Nicole

    Hello,
here's what I found out so far:
I get the error if I start the shared services console via the URL "http://servername:port/interop/index.jsp" and then select the "assign access control" for an essbase database.
If I start the shared services console via the workspace everything works fine.
Does anybody know what to do so that it also works if I start the shared services console via URL?
    best regards,
    Nicole

  • Assigned Access stopped working - no longer lets me select an App

I have two Surface machines configured for Assigned Access, they are supposed to go in to a Museum Exhibition soon. I updated my app today and so had to reconfigure the two Surfaces (take them out of AA mode to install the new app). When I set AA back up,
it worked fine on one machine, but on the other, the App list will no longer update. I can assign the user but I can't assign any apps to the user. The only other thing that changed today was some Windows updates came down. Could that have messed thigns up?
I have tried removing the user and starting over but the result is the same. This is frustrating, and makes me nervous as I have a deadline to get these devices into the museum.
    Please help.

    Hi,
Make sure that you have the app installed under the account on which you want to transfer to another, otherwise you may fail to add this app, just like the screen below:
Then, I suggest to perform a system restore to solve this:

  • Hi.  I'm trying to set-up the wireless access times in my Airport Utility.  I need to enter the "Description" and the "MAC Address" of each wireless client before I assign access times. What are these?  Thanks.

Hi.  I'm trying to set-up the wireless access times in my Airport Utility.  I need to enter the "Description" and the "MAC Address" of each wireless client before I assign access times. What are these?  Thanks.

Let's say that an iPhone is one of the wireless clients that you want to allow access to the network.
The Description of this device is anything that you want to specify for easy identification purposes. For example, the Description might be something like......
    Rex's iPhone
The MAC Address, also known as a Wi-Fi Address is  a unique indentifiction number that is assigned to every device. The number will always follow this form:
xx : xx : xx : xx : xx : xx, where "x" could be a number or letter.
To find the MAC Address or Wi-Fi Address of an iPhone or iPad.....
    On the Home screen.....
    Tap Settings
    Tap General
    Tap About
Wi-Fi Address is the item that you want
If you have a Mac computer......you can find the MAC Address or Wi-Fi Address as follows:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
Click on Wi-Fi on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
The Wi-Fi Address for the Mac is located at the bottom of the window
Other wireless devices usually have the MAC Address or Wi-Fi Address on the label on the back or bottom of the device

  • Using Assigned Access on a Domain user account

We would like to use Assigned Access in Windows 8.1 Enterprise, but it appears to only allow locking down a local user account. Is there any way to lock down a Domain user account with Assigned Access?

No, it is designed for local user account. Regarding domain user, I think group policy is a better choice.

  • How to restrict users working on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2

    Dear All,
We are having an infrastructure setup of around 500 client computers managed through group policy.
Recently the domain controllers have been migrated from Windows Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2.
Since this account requires extremely strict environment, we need to figure the solution for restricting the users from access anything locally.
It would be great if you can assist me with the following query.
How to restrict users logged on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and browsing other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2 ?
Can we disable Network Tab on the left hand pane ?

You cannot block explorer.exe when you do not replace the shell - the
desktop you see effectively IS explorer.exe...
Your requirement sounds like you need a custom shell:

  • Guest OS Windows 7 for remote access

We are setting up 4 VM's with Windows 7 OS for staff access on a Dell PowerEdge R320.
We had all of the VM's working as specified above but had to re-install Server 2012 Standard because the factory tech setup the Raid 5 to only give the server OS 40 GB of space.
Installed Windows Server 2012 Standard with the following Roles and Features:
    File and Storage Services
    Hyper-V
Network Policy and Access Services - Network Policy Server - Health Registration Authority
Web Server (IIS) - Web Server (Defaults)
    Management Tools (Default)
We will be joining this server to a Domain Controller on another server.
This server will need to have mapped drives to a third party software database and storage file installed in it for business management.
For setup purposes the NIC1 has been disabled to reserve it for iDRAC.
The NIC2 is set to a static IP address for RDP and DOES have internet access.
An External virtual switch has been installed in Hyper-V on the NIC2 named "Virtual Switch NIC 2" All of the guset VM's have the Virtual Switch "Virtual Switch NIC 2" installed (without VLAN ID and Bandwidth Management checked).
The guest OS does show the network adpater as a device and is also set to a static IP for RDP. The networking and sharing window shows "No Internet Access" and cannot repair or resolve the issue. The Guest OS also does not see the Host files shared
or the Host in Network. It displays as an unidentified network.
Please advise and thank you in advance for your assistance.

NIC 2 should not have anything on it except for Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch.  Anything else and you do not have a virtual switch on that NIC.  By default, when you create an External Virtual Switch, Hyper-V will automatically remove all the
other protocols and settings and enable the Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch.  It looks like you went in and made manual changes which broke everything.
Delete your virtual switch and recreate it. When you recreate it, click the box to Allow management operating system to share this network adapter.  Then configure your IP information on the vEthernet that is created, not NIC2.  DO NOT MAKE ANY
CHANGES TO THE PROPERTIES OF NIC2.
"In the Hyper-V manager - Network Tab - it shows the IP address for the Guest OS as:
    169.254.181.237"
I don't know what you are talking about here.  Hyper-V Manager does not have a 'Network Tab'.  Hyper-V does not perform any networking functions for the VMs.  You need to configure the network within the VMs themselves.  If you do not
have DHCP configured for your environment (not a Hyper-V function), your VMs will come up with a 169.254.0.0/16 address.  That's an APIPA address and is a standard.
One last thing, you might want to read this blog in order to better understand how networking works within Hyper-V -
    How
does basic networking work in Hyper-V?  It's written for 2008, but it's a primer and it is still valid for 2012.

  • Can't put IE Metro into full kiosk mode Win 8.1 Enterprise or set IE desktop as default in Assigned Access

I have searched everywhere for this answer.  Kiosk mode/assigned access is excellent.  But it appears that you can only use IE Modern (Metro) for assigned access and the problem with that is I have found no way to completely lock down IE Modern.
I can only partially lock it down but users can still get to the address bar and settings very easily.
I either need some advice on setting IE to complete lockdown or how to set IE desktop for Assigned  Access.

I am afraid there is no such feature in metro IE. Maybe you could submit a feedback to
    IE connect

Actually I am not sure that matters with HFM and you can go direct through 28080 or 19000, worth a try, if not maybe it just needs registering again as Pablo said.
