Bypassing DRM protection

If I download a WMA that is DRM protected, how can I bypass that and convert it to an mp3. Very important to know asap. thanks

if your on a mac, "flip to mac" will convert it to QT then you need to burn it as a aiff and reimport it, then the most important part...

  • Bypass DRM protection programs

    Good evening,
my name is Spyros Kalamakis and i work for Patakis Publishers. Our company is located in Athens, Greece and we use Adobe Content Server 4.2 for our e-books.
We recently realized that there is a list of programs on the internet which bypass the DRM protection of our e-books. Due to this fact, we are facing serious problems, because our e-books can be potentially distributed for free by third parties.
Which is the opinion of Adobe about this fact and are you aware that such programs exist? Is there a patch we could download and install so to avoid this problem?

The music presently sold in the iTunes store does not have DRM protestion and thus can be used in other players.

  • Can I use a DRM-Protected Music video in my IDVD project.

Can I download a DRM protected music video to a IDVD project and burn a DVD. The music video is not showing up in the media window in IDVD. Only ITunes Plus songs and videos, make it to the media window. I can't drag the video directly off ITunes. They say, I can burn a up to seven copy's of the DMR protected video/music, but how.. Thanks for any help.

Didn't work, Window came up saying "Could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats. I was able to burn it to a DVD, it came up as a MPEG 4 file. Then I first went to the ITunes tool bar Preference>Advanced>importing>importing using>Aiff Encoder. Then tool bar again File> import. Music video imported another copy to ITunes library. Right mouse clicked second copy> convert selection to Aiff. Then "Could not convert" window came up.

  • Data recovery planning for DRM protected musi

    Hi folks,
I'm curious to hear from you on this topic: <FONT color=#cc0000>how do you protect your DRM-protected music (with download license, <EM>not subscription</EM>) - and I mean: data backup and recovery.
Let me put it this way: I'm interested in buying music online, as opposed to buying CDs as I did until now. But I'm real concerned about the implications of the DRM.
If I see how much trouble it costs to do proper data recovery planning (i.e. a backup plan and execution) for my home pc, and how much data tends to get lost when transitioning to new PC or OS, and how quickly internet economy can shift to new hypes and solutions, I'm simply afraid that all these DRM restrictions will mean that in 5 years from now, I will not be able to use the music I buy today.
Reason can be : data loss, format changes, companies out of business, changing to OS (Linux, ...) that doesn't have the DRM appropriate software, etc, etc...
So, for instance, do you convert all your DRM music to DRM-free formats? Or how do you answer the above question for yourself?
I emphasize that I'm talking about personal and legal backups here, and no more than that.
    thanks for sharing!
    Fred

  • HT4623 What's with audio xciter, it only plays a few songs, ones that it won't gives me a message ,upgrade to iTunes plus, what's with that, oh, it ALso says the music is drm protected, upgrade to iTunes plus?

Anyone know what's wrong with audio xciter? It tells me to upgrade to iTunes plus, what's that?when I play my music, it plays a few but wont others because it's drm protected, maybe wrong word and tells me to upgrade to iTunes plus, think I bought junk software!

I am seeing the same thing. 95% of my songs are DRM protected -according this app. But they are not. Hopefully someone has an aswer. The web page support for Xciter does not mention this issue.

  • Seriously? Is there not any way to view DRM-protected books downloaded from iTunes on my MacBook Pro?  I cannot believe that there is no way around this?

Seriously?  Is there not any way to view and read DRM-protected books downloaded on iTunes on my MacBook Pro?  I cannot believe that there is not any way around this!  I seem to constantly get confounded by what seems to be the most amazingly unbelievable conundrums with Apple despite having been a champion of the company for years and years.  This relates to tethering on iPhone, external Apple hard drives only being usable with MacBook Air, and now this! If anyone is aware of a hack or way around this I would appreciate some guidance.  Thanks!

    "Seriously? "
    Yes.
" Is there not any way to view and read DRM-protected books downloaded on iTunes on my MacBook Pro?"
    There is not.
" I cannot believe that there is not any way around this!"
    Believe it.

  • Is there any way i could burn a DRM-protected movie from iTunes?

Every time i burn something i get an error in iTunes (error 4280), so i try to burn it with a more reliable software but then another iTunes-related error pops-up (This video is iTunes-DRM protected). Is there anyway i could possibly burn something from iTunes? or is it completely locked down? please help since i've been trying to solve this problem since yesterday.
I would deeply appreciate any help. If i need to install something or anything at all.

so iTunes wont let us burn anything to DVD's? we have to use iTunes, iPod, Apple TV, to watch it? i think i'll just download some where else in the web for movies and TV shows, at least they actually lets you burn it to a DVD. Or better yet just buy the box set and put it in the computer. IM NOT BUYING ANYMORE TV SHOWS AND MOVIES FROM ITUNES!!!!! until this DRM-scam is fixed.

Here is a link to Overdrive where the OP is getting the files that are either epub or pdf format that comes with DRM protection.  I looked into using it at one time for lending books from my library and reading on my Nook e-reader, but never got around to setting it up completely.

  • Creating DRM-Protected Content for Playback in Quicktime

I would like to create some protected audio content, not for sale, but so that only authorized persons can listen to it. Since I have had problems with Windows Media DRM, I am wondering whether a private person can create DRM-protected content that Quicktime can play back. I don't know how authorizations would work and I am not intending to stream the content, just to make it available for download.
Does anyone know about this? Any ideas? A series of Google searches on Apple's website produced nothing relevant.

Sorry, but there is no scheme for creating copy protection in a QuickTime file, at least none that are practical. There was Media Keys, but that was only supported by the SorensonVideo 3 codec. Apple has not made the DRM they use for the iTunes Store available to other users.
The only way I can think of to copy-protect a QuickTime file for a web site would be to either put the download on a password-protected web page or wrap the QuickTime file in a password-protected archive of some format (Stuffit can password-protect an archive and there are probably other solutions as well).

  • DRM-protected PDF crashes Safari on iPad

DRM-protected PDF crashes Safari on iPad (iOS 5.1/9B176). After restart the document is blank. When choose Acrobat from "Open it..." list it says "The document is empty". Is there a workaround?
It looks like Safari PDF preview software failes to handle DRM protected PDF (by Adobe LiveCycle ES). I am not sure but this was working before.
    Thanks.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > Safari then tap to delete history, cookies, and data then try Safari.

  • HT201272 How do I remove DRM-protected tracks?  I've purchased iTunes match and followed all of the directions for redownloading and I still can't play some of my tracks on the DJay 2 app.  Please help!  Do I need to purchase these tracks all over again?

How do I remove the DRM-Protection from tracks so that I can play them on my DJay 2 app.  I've followed the directions for removal and it's not working...
Will I have to purchase these tracks again?

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.

  • Muvo TX and MusicMatch Plus for DRM-protected so

I just bought a Muvo TX and I am trying to use it with Musicmatch Jukebox Plus. For songs that I have ripped from CD, it works fine - MMJB recognizes the Muvo and happily downloads the songs. However, for WMA files that I have purchased from MusicMatch store, I get an error about the song not having "download to portable rights." I have also tried moving songs to the Muvo with the Creative MediaSource application. It gets an error while transferring the DRM-protected songs too. Has anyone got this combination to work? MusicMatch says on its website that it works with Muvo NX, so I optimistically assumed that the TX would be ok too.
    Other info:
    - Windows 98SE, MMJB 9 (latest version)
    - Upgraded to latest Creative MediaSource app 2.03.29 with latest Muvo TX plugin for Win98.
    - Haven't upgrade the firmware of the Muvo TX because when I try to do it, the upgrade program doesn't detect the device.
    - Waiting for response from MusicMatch tech support.
    Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks,
    -Mike S.

Jeremy - I think MusicMatch is fully intending to allow songs purchased from them be downloaded into portable players. They specifically say on their website that they support many players including the Creative Muvo Nx - and since the TX is the same thing just with USB 2.0, I thought it likely it would work.
To just say it's not allowed is probably giving up too easy ... especially since the TX supports DRM and is part of the MS "Play for Sure" program - as is the MusicMatch store. That's the whole idea of this Microsoft program - that songs I buy at online music stores will work with my devices!
I am still waiting for MusicMatch to respond to my question. Ideally, it seems like it would make sense for Creative to test their devices with the major online stores (MusicMatch, Walmart, etc.). Do you know if this has been done? If so, what combinations are known to work?
My hope is that I just don't have the right combination of software versions and can upgrade. To find out it can't work would be very frustrating.

  • Convert Purchased DRM-Protected Songs to DRM-Free Versions

Convert Purchased DRM-Protected Songs to DRM-Free Versions
as per iTunes / Help / Usage rights for iTunes Store purchases:
"All songs offered by the iTunes Store now come without DRM protection. These DRM-free songs, called iTunes Plus, have no usage restrictions and feature high-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding.
If you have older iTunes Store purchases that are now available as iTunes Plus downloads, you may upgrade your existing purchases. To do so, visit the iTunes Store and follow the onscreen instructions."
Looking at iTunes / Store / Purchased, which shows the list of songs that I have purchased, I do not see how I can tell if my older songs are with or without DRM protection.
How do I identify what songs have DRM protection? I want to convert any purchased music, which have DRM protection, to newer DRM-free versions.
    Thank you.

    Yank,
The upgrade program described in that document was discontinued  by Apple a few months ago.  Here are the options now:
If you have a lot of tracks to upgrade, you can do it by subscribing to iTunes Match and following the instructions by which to delete your DRM copy and download the non-DRM matched copy.  See the section "Can I upgrade my previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?" in this guide: iTunes Store: iTunes Plus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
If you only have a few to upgrade, you can buy them singly.
How do I identify what songs have DRM protection?
In your library, use Songs view, and look at the "Kind" column for ones with the word "Protected."
If you do not see Kind, enable it by going to View > View Options.
