C 6.0 ovi ...my position ,,,thinks i'm 1.8km fro...

can anyone tell me how you can correct the position , both myself and my other half have just got c 6's mainly for the maps and sat nav,,,its bloody useless so far as when we are sat at home it hinks we are at the other side of town 1.8km away from where we are ...uk northern england ... plus can someone also tell me how to get the satnav bit of the app , this is my first smartphone and bought so i could use the satnav on bluetooth for my motorbike, so i'm no app geek at all but a competent pc user, or is this c6 a lame duck that i'm going to have to try and swap with nokia as so far it doesnt appear to do what i was led to believe it should do ,,,thanks guys hopefully one of you can help me

When you say "sat at home", if you mean in the comfort of your favourite armchair in the living room, that is why your GPS fix isn't accurate. It is possiblt to get signals indoors, but getting enough satellites for an accurate fix is difficult. Fix the phone to your holder in the car, open Maps and select "My Position" then take a spin - your should find that it picks up the correct position pretty quickly.
Sat nav is straightforward, just select "Drive", then "Set Destination" - you can then choose a pre-saved favourite or search for an address. Assuming you've already got your GPS fix it will then start guiding you from where you are to where you need to be.
When you refer to Bluetooth, I assume you are talking about a Bluetooth headset? It is important to be clear on this because 'Bluetooth' is a method of radio communication for data transfer between different devices. If that is the case, then it should be OK as long as there are no compatibility issues with your headset. I have used Maps in the past with a Bluetooth headset, though you should be aware that headsets in general don't keep a permanent open connection with the phone, they initiate a connection when necessary which can take a second or so to complete, which means that in some cases you may miss a small part at the beginning of each instruction.
You can't write it off as a 'lame duck' on the minimal info you mention here, Maps has become a very good sat-nav package in the time I've been using it (from very mediocre beginnings), but one thing I'm not certain of becauser I lack experience is if any phone-based sat-nav system is suitable for use on a motorbike.

Nokia Ovi suite STILL not working with Windows 7/U...

I have been waiting paitiently for around 7 months now to get a working version of Ovi Suite to use to sync my Nokia C7.
Right now its only version 3.1.1.78 I think. I started at 2.9.X
Ovi suite still thinks my phone is not in Ovi Suite mode. This happens only with Windows 7 laptop. Atleast now I think I can sync stuff using blue tooth. Probably Nokia expects me to copy over small video clips also with Blue tooth!!!
When are you planning to fix? Please dont tell me to use Nokia PC cleaner - I just did that. 3 times in a row. Tried on 3 different Windows 7 laptops also.

Try the following workaround.
Manual sync
Open Nokia Ovi Suite--> Sync--> Sync option--> Uncheck the sync automatically everytime you connect the device.
Then Sync--> Sync now--> Contact, Calendar& tasks, Messages or Notes one by one individually.
Re-pair the "pst" and the "ost" Outlook files as in the following location.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANOST.EXE
Right click the above mentioned exe file and 'Run' it.
NOTE
It's adviced to take a back- up of the user's Outlook folders to avoid any loss of information.
Check with Microsoft support pages for more information.

2 of same phone in ovi?

Can Ovi Suite handle 2 of the same phone? IE I have a C7 Astound already in Ovi, My wife thinks she wants one too. Will it recognize them as different?

Ovi Suite recognizes the phone IMEI no and it does not matter if you have mutiple device of the same type... One precaution needs to be taken while syncing data... as the previously used C7 data has been synched it will put the same content in the new device as well as ovi suite has a contact application of its own. So the contact might get mixed up... the only option is either if you have mail for exchange and if your contact is there is outlook then using MFE you can sync the contacts over air... however I guess creating a new user in windows and installing Ovi suite for that user will defnitely solve the issue.

Uninstall the following Programs,from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.

Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the Nokia.com/support.
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.

Time to upgrade processor?

Upgraded HD to 250 GB, added DVD read write now I need to upgrade processor. Help. Have had G4 since late 2001. Absolutly no problems. Have kept software updated also. Would like to upgrade to new OS Leopard but processor speed only 800mhz, need more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Budget allows about $400 dollars. Also with a processor upgrade can I increase ram? Right now Im maxed at 1.5g

Text Entry No Longer Works - Controls Tool Selection Instead

Well here's a particularly peeving peculiarity!
Once upon a time, you could throw a text generator into the time-line, double click on it to bring it up in the viewer, click on the Properties tab and type your text into the entry field without problems.
Well, after a short time editing, the situation changes and subsequently it seems I can't do that. Instead, my keystrokes are routed to the tool selection palette or the FCP timeline itself.
This even extends as far as trying to change the names of Sequences or Clips in the Browser.
Subsequently, ALL keyboard input in FCP fails. No keystrokes are accepted at all, not even shuttling around in the timeline. Using the mouse in a menu to export a movie works and brings up the Export dialogue, but I can't type anything in the filename field.
I've tried trashing prefs, caches, logging in under a different user account, repairing permissions, lighting black candles and meditating upon mental images of Steve Jobs and nothing seems to work.
Back in the rest of the OS, say in the Finder, keyboard input is working fine.
The only FCP related information in the Console log is a failure to load a Filter bundle - which is odd because 5.1.4 is supposed to be specifically to fix filter errors:

I have FCP installed on a laptop too and it seems the same symptoms occur there.
What gives? Is it time to reapply the latest FCP update? Do I have difficult to diagnose font problems? Must I sacrifice another virgin to the gods?

Trying to solve this is as irritating as having a grain of sand lodged in a soft mucus membrane - but from such irritations oysters make pearls!

It seems, at the moment, that this problem is related to using older project files, those created before 5.1.4, with 5.1.4. You do seem to get an alert asking if you want to update the project but perhaps this update doesn't complete correctly.
I haven't had a lot of time to explore but it seems new projects created in 5.1.4 don't suffer this problem.

Ipod nano 1st generation with SW1.3.1 doesn´t work properly

as a positive thinking person I followed the recomendations in iTunes 7.5.. and downloaded SW 1.3.1 on my 1st generation nano. The consequnce was that this dammed thing now frequently stops playing(every few minutes max. 15 min). It either jumps back to the main menue and I have to start the song again or it freezes and I have to boot ( middle + menue key) or it reboots by itself.
Have gone through all the 5Rs and the online service, tried to send a message to service, but this was not available and the message was gone. I do not find an older SW version. After hours I am really pi...
Had functional problems during warranty period. Sent it in with new SW it worked properly until last weekend......

I know this Updated Post follows shortly after my previous post, but I have a useful piece of info. that others may wish to check on.
I have been using a video: www.video.com/12348372 as my test case for which the video comes on and then proceeds to not work. If I click on the "arrow" in the bottom left corner of the video, the video screen goes "black" and nothing happens immediately. But, here is the important information. If I wait, then the video reappears, but sounds alternately starts and stops.
What I did for the last several hours was to minimize the email containing the video, and I noticed that the sound alternately came on and off. But, after over two hours, the video started to play normally (total time for video is about 4 mins.) When it gets to the end, the original "start arrow" appears. I have repeatedly played this video after the two-hour period of erratic play, and it played normally.
This event happened one time over a week ago when I was on "Live Chat" with Adobe FP. I was reporting my problem with FP with Mang Son while I had the video minimized, and, embarrassingly, the video started to work normally! What could I say?! I told him essentially that it looked like it was working, and I closed it out. However, after this, I closed the email containing the video and tried to open the video from scratch, again. Once again, it started to play erratically, even though it mysteriously was playing normally while I was on "Live Chat".
Users may want to use the video that I cited and see what happens. It is still a mystery why the video won't work for hours and then all of a sudden start working. I also had similar trouble with YouTube videos.

Error uploading book

I converted my pdf to epub using calibre and I am getting this error when I try to upload it.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this. Or is there better software to make the pdf to epub conversion for this purpose?

Multiple characters in one slot of an ArrayList?

I am writing a method that extracts words from a string and returns an ArrayList with the given extracted words. I am not allowed to use the method split.
I have managed to get the characters of the input string into an array list, but I can't seem to get multiple characters into one slot of the list. Can you put multiple characters into one slot of an array list?
Here is the code for my method.

I thought to fix this, I could modify part of the for loop as such

    else
       position++;
     } thinking that this would add all characters to the same slot in the ArrayList until it found a space. If it found a space, it would advance the slot of the ArrayList and start adding characters to that slot until it found another space. It would do this until it reached the end of the string.
But with this code, the output of the test program is
java ExtractWordsTest
[e, m, i, t, e, h, t, s, i, w, o, N]
Am I going about this in the wrong way? Is it not possible to add multiple characters to one slot of an array list?

I've been trying to account for that. I figured that it wasn't giving me the last word because it never finds a final space, which is true. When in my test program, I make the test string "Now is the time " with that extra space, the out put is [Now, is, the, time].
The problem is I don't want to put in that extra space.
I've been trying to put in another else if statement, but I'm not trying things that are correct.
I've tried the above code with
else if (current == finalChar)
     { /*trying to get it to extract the last substring and add it to the array as the last element*/
       newString = s1.substring(s1.lastIndexOf(space), s1.length());
       stringArrayL.add(newString);
     }but even though the method compiles, it makes my test program go crazy and clearly does not work.
I've tried using || in various ways, specifically regarding the second else statement
else if (current == space || current = s1.charAt(s1.length()))
         stringArrayL.add(newString);
         newString = "";
       }but that, as well as other || parameters I have tried keeps spitting out
[Now, is, the]
The only way I've gotten it to give me all four is by putting that extra space in at the end of the test string, which I don't want to have to do.

SCCM 2012 Export Task Sequence fails with generic error message

We have a complex task sequence comprising of more than 50 applications\packages, 1975 drivers, 18 driver packages etc etc. Its long, it's big and it will not export with it's content.
We have several environments for development test and live. I am attempting to export the primary task sequence with all it's dependencies from live so that I can port it over to a new development environment.
I can export the zip file without content and it comes to 92Mb in size. The entire task sequence software set is 50Gb+. When I attempt to export with all dependencies and content the process gets about 60% of the way through and fails with the error
"Error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"
Googling the error roughly defines the problem as 'the export process cannot access the defined source path for one of the dependant items'
I wrote a PowerShell script that looks as every application, package, driver, driver package, boot image, os image and software update package in the entire SCCM software library and verifies that each and every package has a valid UNC source directory
that can be reached using test-path.
I also wrote another tool that parsed the entire source software library on the server looking for permissions errors (permissions on the structure set at a directory level rather than inherited), directories that were too long, inaccessible or otherwise
blocked, nothing was found.
It will take a very long time to go through and check each and every dependency by hand - time I do not have at present.
I looked in the TaskSequenceProvider.log as that is supposed to contain messages from the export process and found the messages in there far too high a level to use

Is there any way of increasing the log verbosity? I need to see what item is causing the export to fail.
Is there another log containing the information about the export & what it is doing?
All out builds that use the task sequence complete successfully, we can edit the sequence fine, make changes etc. so no internal corruption we can find.
Any ideas?

Torsten, smsprov.log did indeed prove useful, I could see every package as it was validated. Unfortunately the log was wrapping about every 4 minutes and it takes 3+ hours for the task sequence to reach the fail point so I still cannot see the offending
package as it wraps before I can get to the log.
I will increase the size of the log and see if I can maintain some details to investigate.
There was nothing of note in the event logs, certainly nothing leading me to suspect that WMI might be reaching its limits.
I will keep looking for the cause and will post here when I find it <= positive thinking :)

IPhoto has stopped running for me.

When I try to open the iPhoto I get the following message:
"Aperture library needs to be upgraded.To open this Aperture library in iPhoto, you need Aperture 3.3 or later.
Click Update Aperture to buy the latest version of Aperture from the Mac App Store.
After installing the update, open your library in Aperture to upgrade it."
Trouble is I don't own Aperture.
I have never needed it before to run iPhoto.
Anyone know how to get around this and get to my iPhoto again?
I can't back up my phone or iPad without it.

Unfortunately, it didn't help (Yet! Positive thinking. That's the key.)
When I depress option and command together and then attempt to open iPhoto, I still get the message box listed in my question above. I did try holding option command as i selected iPhoto as well as pushing option command together to see what happened without selecting iPhoto just to ensure i was not misinterpreting your suggestion.
I am running OS X 10.8.4 and the most recent update to iphoto (version 9.4.3).
The software was running fine until I moved all my photos off of the hard drive manually about a week ago.
I did not use iPhoto for this but went into the folder directly, copied then deleted all the photos to free up space.
Does this help with any alternative suggestions?

ITunes repeatedly opens and plays songs at random

I don't know what's going on, but iTunes is just opening at random and beginning to play music. Frequently it will open again as soon as I quit, but other times it takes a few minutes.
I've been made aware that iTunes Helper occasionally will strike a false positive, think it's detected a new device, and cause iTunes to open. Quitting out of it in Activity Monitor doesn't help; within a few minutes, both iTunes and iTunes Helper will open again.
Sometimes the selection of music will change WHILE I'm trying to legitimately use iTunes to listen to music.
24 hours ago I didn't have this problem. Can someone please tell me what is going on here? Is somebody else's wifi signal interfering with mine, or is that even possible?

Note: Sure enough, it happened again. At least it didn't start autoplaying this time. I checked Console to see if anything iTunes-related cropped up, and here's what I found:

What IS this?!

Phone crashes a lot... help!

Before you respond by saying, "reset the phone", I already tried that. My iPhone keeps locking up on me. It doesn't do it enough to send it to apple and be without a phone for a month while they test it to find out that it doesn't do it while in their possession. It doesn't do it when I do one particular thing in general. Sometimes it happens when I end a call... it will lock up and there will be a green bar at the top that says return to call. When I hit that it goes to the call screen and the time is lapsing, indicating a current call, but the call has ended. If I try to shut the phone off it takes a good minute for this to happen. Sometimes it crashes after exiting email. Basically the phone renders itself useless until I shut it down and power it back up. I send it into sleep mode and try to "wake" but the phone doesn't respond. Any ideas???

Need to remove crop lines set in custom function 3

Hello All, I need help! I set the custom function 3 to the on position, thinking it would just give me lines to show where an 8x10 crop would be ~ I did not realize that it would actually crop all of my images. I shoot raw and I have imported them into lightroom, within lightroom I cannot remove the crop. I tried opening in Canon's software, removed the crop, then saved as a TIFF, but 17 files ended up being corrupt.
I see that there is a plug in for LR, but it indicates DNG files, not RAW ~ is there a plug in for RAW? Does anyone know a work around that might help me? Thank you.

I set the custom function 3 to the on position, thinking it would just give me lines to show where an 8x10 crop would be ~ I did not realize that it would actually crop all of my images. I shoot raw and I have imported them into lightroom, within lightroom I cannot remove the crop. I tried opening in Canon's software, removed the crop, then saved as a TIFF, but 17 files ended up being corrupt.
I see that there is a plug in for LR, but it indicates DNG files, not RAW ~ is there a plug in for RAW? Does anyone know a work around that might help me? Thank you.

You didn't say which Camera you are using except it is a Canon but use this Plugin and see if it works. It outputs DNG files and does NOT change your original CR2 so you will have to use the DNG in Lightroom to see the full image.
