  • Time Machine Folder Information

Hi, I installed a Time Capsule (500GB) approx a month ago and backups have worked well and as planned, until now.
The folder information within Time Machine displays 0 items under folder name "Desktop" (for all backups being taken) yet the backup disk icon on the desktop allows me to view the folders and files that have been backed up.
In summary, the backups are taking place but Time Machine is not recording the relevant detail and therefore not allowing anything to be restored.
I am using a MacBook Pro over a wired ethernet network with OS X 10.5.5, Time Capsule and AppleTV.

Hi... I'm having this /exact/ problem - my time machine backups show up in the "enter Time Machine" option (space-y thing), but each of them just shows the desktop folder with "0 items." Yet if I click on the external hard drive in Finder, I find TM backup folders with information... I'm just worried that I won't be able to restore correctly if something happens.

  • Finder quits on folder information

    Hello,
I have a problem similar to those already discussed but the solutions suggested before do not solve my problem.
Whenever I want to get the folder information either by clicking "apple+i" when a folder is highlited or when i use "ctrl + click + information" the finder restarts and opens the system folder.
I did not change any settings or installed any new programs - the problem occured without any obvious reason.
I ran the in system diagnostic tool, mac janitor and onyx, tried to delete the finder .plist files as well as the whole preferences folder and reinstalled 10.4.7 but the problem persists.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot
    Ben

Hi Ben, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It could be an item in /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Drag the contents of that folder to the desktop and test again. If that sorts it put the items back one at a time to find the culprit.

  • Disable 'retrieving remote folder information'?

Is there any way to disable the 'retrieving remote folder
information' query? It causes a delay of about 10 seconds every
time I switch into the expanded local and remote sites view. It is
    incredibly annoying.
I work in the full-screen file and folder view quite often. I
find it easier to browse the local view in full-screen mode. I
rarely browse the remote folders and files so I could care less if
the view is up to date. I would refresh it manually, if possible.
Does Dreamweaver CS3 behave the same way? I would gladly
upgrade to get rid of this annoying behavior (along with the
    'background file activity' dialog).
    Thanks.

It is normal, Dreamweaver is a snail-slow FTP program.
But after a while, the message should change and you should
see your remote files appear in the
    remote files side. No?

  • Transferring mailbox folder information

Transferring from G4 to iMac. Mailbox folders did transfer, however contents of folders did not.
How can I get this information in folders on new mac?

Delete the /Home/Library/Mail/ folder on the new machine. Copy the entire /Home/Library/Mail/ folder from the old computer to your new computer. Also copy the /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist file to the new computer. Once this is done open Mail. Everything should be there.

  • Folder information disappeared in Lion?

    Hello,
I recently had my Macbook Pro upgraded to Lion and I am having trouble finding a way for the information on the bottom of every folder  to show up.  I am talking about the information that displays how many files the folder has/ how big the file is, etc.  Is there any way I can get this back?  Thank you in advance.

  • How can you get File/Folder information?

    Hello,
I'm a Windows XP/Vista convert. One thing I liked about XP and Vista is how you could simply point to a file, hover the pointer over it and it would tell you information about it. Also, in the status bar it would tell you the total amount of space occupied by all the files in a folder.
Is there a way to get this same functionality in OSX? I haven't upgraded to Leopard just yet, but I wonder if it has this functionality built into it. Very simple features, but can 10.4.10 or 10.5 do either one? Or is there a simple utility that will give this functionality to the Finder?
Also, what's the BEST file manager for OSX out there? I use PowerDesk in XP quite a bit, is there something similar out there for the Mac?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Thanks, but I meant to add, is there some way to get this information other than the way you've outlined? I like how Windows handles it, either by displaying it in the status bar or showing a bubble/popup by just hovering the mouse over the icon. Please tell me that Leopard will do this. I mean, that seems like a VERY basic feature that, well, just makes sense to me. It shouldn't be anymore difficult than that.
Is this addressed in another way in MacOSX?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Folder Information: Calculating Size slow

I'm trying to clean up my HD. When I select a folder and use Apple-I to find out the size I get the display "Calculating Size" but it takes a very long time to actually calculate the size, even for small folders.
Any ideas why? or a workaround.?

I'm using 10.5.2 and I don't have this issue. +Get Info+ calculates the size immediately!
It just calculated my entire audio folder's size in no more than a second, which is over 40gb...
Cover Flow is enabled, by the way
But I have Spotlight disabled! Which was killing my performance. I think Spotlight is causing lot's of headaches with Mac users, which might be the case here as well..........

  • Search Bookmarks gives NO information about the FOLDER in which the bookmark is contained!!

A sub folder containing Bookmarks has disappeared. The Search facility finds the individual Bookmarks ... however it gives NO information about the FOLDER in which the bookmarks are contained!! How can I retrieve the lost folder when the Search facility gives NO information about folders? The folder information MUST be part of the Search result, otherwise the Search itself is useless in most cases!

@TXGuy: Many thanks, that was a very helpful addon, and neatly solves my problem!
Also, I found out that the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7377/ Go parent folder addon] solves the same problem, although the one you pointed to does it even better.

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013

    Hi Guys,
I have a general Exchange 07-13 migration question about migrating the PF's and System Folder Information, I read somewhere that the SystemFolder info doesn't come across, can someone shed some light on this for me please?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
Free/Busy information is stored in system public folder. If you want to decommission the Exchange 2007 Server, you need to add the replicas to Exchange 2013 Server.
What's more, if the users use Outlook 2003, they will rely on the Free/Busy folders. If the users are using Outlook 2007 or newer, then Outlook utilizes something called the Availability Service and no longer relies on the Free/Busy folder.
Please refer to the following article to migrate public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.

  • After a search of the bookmark library for a certain bookmark (and search finds it), how do you then tell what folder it is in? There should be a 'Folder' column in the title line like this, Name, Tags,Folder,Location. Thank you.

A search of the Library bookmarks should provide each bookmark's folder as well as Name, Tags, and Location.
As it is now, a search (for example) for the string 'IESI', a refuse collection company in Central Texas, actually finds IESI. But what if you cannot remember what folder you put the IESI bookmark in? Current search fails to provide folder information.

  • Hyperion BI IR Repository - Which table has Physical Resources information?

    Hi,
    We have Hyperion System 9.3.3.
I have a need to find out all the Physical Resources and their corresponding output directory path.
Currently most of it is to FTP directories.
Also, need to find all scheduled reports that export output to these direcotries.
Is there a way to find this information? Is there a Hyperion IR respository table that has this information stored?
Where can I find information about the Hyperion IR repository tables?
    Thanks
    Z

Thanks Doug. I explored the tables and there are two which has "phy_res" in their names. There is one that lists all the physical resources folders. But I need a table which will connect to this and list all the scheduled reports and the folders in which they reside. So far I have not been able to find other tables which connect to the physical resources table to give this information. I found some tables (v8_jobdef ...) but they don't have columns that has the workspace folder information and any identifying column that will help me distinguish if that entry is for a scheduled job which has an output type that exports output to a folder.

  • Flash gathering information about a directory

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem i am
    having.
From within Flash I would like to be able to scan a
directory, not local, and place the information in an array. With
this ability I would also like to be able to go unlimited-(within
reason) directories deep and also load the file/folder information
    into an array.
Essentially, creating an array for each level in a specified
    directory.
Any and all help with this would be greatly
    appreciated.

Search Google - there are loads of PHP based file &
    directory scripts
    floating around.

  • Third party application can list contacts from shared contacts folder, but not retrieve

I am working with a third party developer on a problem occurring in their application.<o:p></o:p>
The software displays the contact list and retrieves a fax number from Outlook. I wish to
return a number from an Outlook Shared Contacts Folder.
This works well under Windows 7 with Outlook 2013 in cached mode..<o:p></o:p>
Running the same software in a terminal services window on a Remote Desktop Server running
Server 2008 R2 with Outlook in Online mode an error is produced when trying to
do the same. The contact list is shown, but when the code tries to retrieve the
displayed record there is the following error:<o:p></o:p>
    x664bc8bcf689f252.x36f18e7b3c08fff5()
    System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040201): The operation failed.

    at Zetadocs.Outlook.OM.x664bc8bcf689f252.x36f18e7b3c08fff5()<o:p></o:p>
If I open Outlook myself first, browse to People and click on the Shared Contacts Folder,
then run the application, there is no error and everything works fine. It is as
if starting Outlook from code is not loading all contact folder information.<o:p></o:p>
Have you any suggestions on what may be causing this to happen and if I can do anything to cure this?<o:p></o:p>

Sorry to be away from this for so long.
It looks like Outlook is not initializing shared folders when it starts.
I confirmed this using the following code for the Outlook startup event:
    Private Sub Application_Startup()
        Dim olApp As Outlook.Application
        Dim nspNameSpace As Outlook.NameSpace
        Dim objTempFolder As Outlook.MAPIFolder
        Set olApp = ThisOutlookSession.Application
        Set nspNameSpace = olApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        For Each objTempFolder In nspNameSpace.Folders
        Next objTempFolder
    End Sub
With this in place I do not need to go to People and click the shared folder, and the third party app has no problems retrieving.
The third party app starts Outlook itself if it is not already running. In this scenario no events fire.
So the question is: Is there a means of executing this code when the third party app starts Outlook?

  • Rules for Folder Metadata Update

How to create a rule which is executed when the folder metadata is updated?
I tried creating a global rule. Rule groupings are reflected on folder metadata information, but when I need to derive one value from another when the folder information page is update - it does not happen.

No. But thank you for the imformation. I know how to create dependent choice lists.
The problem was in the following.
As I want some metadata fields be dependent on dsecuritygroup and ddoctype and they can not be chosen as dependent fields, i had to implement additional xdoctype and xsecuritygroup metadata fields. that means that for system ddoctype and dsecuritygroup fields the values shlould be derived from my custom fields. What was done with the use of rules. But the problem was, that the values were derived only for the content items, but not for folders. E.g. when I updated xSecurityGroup for the folder, corresponding value of dSecurityGroup for this folder was not updated.
Finally I wrote a trigger on Colmeta and Collections tables.
But I am very glad, you answered my post, may be you can also help me with the following:
    1) Derived Value - Concatenated String Fields
    2) When you define a view there is a nuber of parameters which are not defined in help:
    - publish view data
    - allow modification by contributors
    - use standard doc. security
    - use custom security implementor
    3) Choice List Depending on Two Fields
