C'mon - Photo Booth should be downloadable by now...

I just bought a Mac mini for my nieces and gave them my iSight so they could play with Photo Booth, and lo and behold, I can't find the Photo Booth software anywhere, much less on the included software. Seriously, this doesn't make ANY sense to me. Why???!!!

Hi Tux:
This is a user to user forum. Photobooth only comes with mac's that have a built in iSight. Sorry!

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use  another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • As I was cleaning up my mac, I accidentally deleted some files obviously vital for iPhoto. I want to download the new version, but am not sure I can access my photos. Should I download the new version or restore the old one somehow?

I know the files were vital to iPhoto because I can't open it now. Can you restore these files?

Probablhy not unless you know exactly what needs to be restored
You need to restore the entire library from your backup before these files were deleted - it is not adviseable to upgrade the iPhoto application until you resolve your iphoto library problem
In the future always remember the number one rule of iPhoto - NEVER make and changes of any sort to the structrue or content of the iPhoto library

  • How to download photo booth for mac

    ?

Photo Booth is installed as part of the Mac OS and its related software. If it is not in your Dock, double-click your hard drive icon and open the folder "Applications." Photo Booth should appear there. You can click-drag its icon to the Dock if you prefer to have it quickly available.
Lacking any further information about your Mac and what OS version it it running, that's about all I can offer.

  • I deleted my photo booth how can i get it back?

i deleted my photo booth how can i get it back?

OK, here are some step by step instructions:
    1. Open a Finder window.
    2. In the Finder window on the left side you will see a folder that says Applications. Click the folder.
    3. Click the Time Machine icon in your Dock and wait for Time Machine to open.
    4. On the right side of TM  you will see a time line, click a date that you know the Application was still there and wait for TM to go to that date. You will see the date in the bottom center.
    5. While in the Applications folder scroll down until you find Photo Booth and then click Restore in the bottom right.
At that point Photo Booth should be restored and working. If it isn't then make an appointment at  your local Apple Store and take the machine in. They will help you restore the application. If you don't have an Apple Store in your area contact an AASP or call Apple Care for some help.

  • Photo Booth is not working

I have used photo booth in the past but now when I click on its icon in the dock, nothing happens. Any ideas please?

Thankyou for your reply. I followed your advice and downloaded pacifist and then went in search of the missing files. They were found and I installed them BUT, when I restarted my computer, I had encountered a major problem. The computer continuously flashed the finder and desktop windows and was totally unresponsive to any commands. The only way to stop was to hold down the power button. On restart, the same problem existed - weird! In desperation, I reloaded Mac OS and the problems have gone. I even have PhotoBooth back.
One final question. Can I now delete the 'Previous System Folder' that was created during the reload of the system software?
Thanks again to you and Aqua for your support and patience.

  • Photo booth - restore accidentally deleted photos

i somehow accidentally deleted all of my photo booth photos. i attempted to restore them using suggestions on forums but nothing worked. i eventually thought i found some solution when i right clicked on 'photo booth library' in my pictures folder and opened 'show package contents' i then dragged all of my photos that i'd recovered from the trash into the 'pictures' folder where photos i had just now taken on photo booth were - opened photo booth and my old photos still weren't there.
can anyone help me with this issue?

Did you use Sherlock to search?
Did you check your Applications folder?
If yes to the above then you can custom install Photo Booth from DVD #1 that originally came w/your computer. Photo Booth should be inside the *Bundled Software* folder. If not there, check the Applications folder.
If you still cannot locate PB on the DVD you will need to use Pacifist

  • Photo booth library broke my image links!

originally i had snow leopard when i started using omnifocus to work on a project. i often took pictures of concept drawings using photobooth and then linked them to the omnifocus document where they applied.
now that i've updated to lion, photo booth has tied all those images up into a library instead of the regular folder, which has broken all my links. i know i could just open the show the library package's contents and copy out the images, but we're talking abour relinking a few hundred images by hand. pain in the donkey.
anybody have any ideas how to fix this? i guess apple didn't think about that potential issue, huh?

I did not have the problem that you describe when upgrading my Macs, but here is what I would do if I did:
Quit all apps and restart Mac.  Then open your Home Finder > Pictures folder, and double click on the Photo Booth Library item.  Photo Booth should launch and automatically use the images in your Photo Booth Library.   You can test that by quitting Photo Booth and re-launching the app to be sure it still connects to your proper library.
If the above does not work, I suggest you use OS X Recovery to reinstall OS X Mavericks.  Launch Photo Booth to see if the problem is resolved.
If nothing suggested here works, perhaps you can get help from some of the topics in this search.
BTW, your posted OS X Mavericks (10.9.1) system info is out of date if you have applied the current Mavericks 10.9.2. version  You can update your system info in seafaring's Products when you are logged into Apple Discussions.

  • 2008 MacBook, no Photo Booth :(

I purchased my MacBook in 2008 and lazily neither bought AppleCare nor pursued a resolution to the issue that Photo Booth has never worked/been available on my computer. I was under the impression that this MacBook model came equipped with the camera so Photo Booth should be available to me. Now that it's too late for me to purchase AppleCare and get answers, does anyone know what I can do or purchase to have access to Photo Booth? Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Regardless of what you do, you should plan to backup your data*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
You can erase and install from the original system discs.
Or you can extract Photobooth from the installer packages on those discs using http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist.

  • Restoring Photo Booth

My son managed to delete Photo Booth off of our iMac (bought Dec 2010).  I tried to find backup copy on the iMac OS X Install DVD or the iMac Applications Install DVD but it didn't seem to be an option to restore.
From what I could tell online Photo Booth should be on the Mac OS X Install DVD and I ran the "Optional Installs" package installer but it was not an available "Application" from the list of applications.
    Have I missed a step?

Photo Booth isn't an optional install, it's part of the base OS.  Use something like Pacifist to get it off of Disc #1, or just reinstall the OS.
Why does your son have an administrative account on this machine?

  • What are the photo booth folder permissions

Can anyone tell me an easy way step by step how to fix photo boothwhen it has encountered an error.  When ever I open photo booth an error message comes up.  How do I fix it I really need someones help!!!  PLEASE!!!!

  • Photo booth effects with Imovie HD?

I was having a ball with the weird effects of phone booth and thought it would be fun to have those real time effects in Imovie HD so I can record a short video clip instead of just a simple snapshot. Is this possible?

    Robert,
No. I don't think you can.
Here's something I did as a kind of workaround.
Take a series of stills using whatever Photo Booth effect you like.
Now bring those stills into iMovie. Next record a voice over and then click the Editing Button and choose Audio FX. You can then use the Pitch Changer to alter the pitch of your voice.
Moving the slider towards Chipmunk goes particularly well with some of the crazy Photo Booth effects.

    Welcome to Discussions, howvogue
If resetting your SMC ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411 ) does not help, try the following in the order below:
    (1) If you "deleted" by dragging things to trash on your own, the first thing I suggest you try is to see if customer support or the documentation for the non-Apple Software you installed has an actual uninstaller or specific uninstall instructions. If it does, you may need to reinstall the software in order to allow the uninstaller to work properly. After you have carefully followed the uninstall instructions, restart your Mac, use Disk Utilities to repair permissions, and test to see if your problem is solved.
    (2) If not, or if you can find NO help on how to properly uninstall the software that caused your problem, restore your Mac's hard disk from the backup that you made immediately before installing "hellokitty digi cam."
    (3) If you do not already have such a backup, backup all your MacBook's (MB's) important info now, erase your MB's hard disk, and reinstall its OS and applications software. Then, restore your data from your backup.
The last option will be a lot of work, but it should get rid of your MB's cat allergy.
Please let us know how it goes and what works. We will watch for your status update.

  • How do you download more photo booth effects on mac lion?

how do you download more photo booth effects on your macbook pro with mac lion version? Effects such as sharpen, film stock, etc.

There should be a download link on the extra special effects Photo Booth website.  If not, do a Google search for a site that has download links.
