C++ runtime error opening Photoshop CS3

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  We have re-imaged our school district computers with XP SP3 and IE7, and now on Creative Suite CS3, only Photoshop will not open as a student. It opens only as administrator and students get the runtime error. All other apps in the Suite work fine. They worked with the same install job before the updates, and reverting back is not an option. I have two high schools with site licenses and have to get this working by September.
Thanks!

Yes, it is installed on each pc.  I create a scripted install that we push
using Altiris deployment. There is a desktop icon, but run as admin isn't
an option on the shortcut. Additionally, if it was, I don't know how I
would make it carry to all users that log on.  The re-image is essentially
just updates to Windows - SP3 and IE7 specifically, and updates to flash,
shock, adobe reader, etc.  We did see some issues when we 1st let IE7
install with tighter security, but this problem didn't  start until the
new images rolled out. Unfortunately, I have to have the images with SP3
and IE7 in them, they'd just bog down the network running as updates
anyway. IF there is a registry key that could accomplish this, I can
script that or ask to have  it put into our network policies for Active
Directory if I know which key.
I appreciate your help.
Thank you.

  • Opening Photoshop CS3 psd files in Photoshop CS2 (Mac Tiger 10.411)

Is it possible to open Photoshop CS3 psd files in Photoshop CS2? After I created them in Photoshop CS3 I reset the preferences to maximize compatibility "always", then I resaved all the psd files. Do you think this will work? I have to open them in CS2 tomorrow at work...

Also, some old features may have changed in the new version. Specifically, I had some CS3 files from a client that had smart objects that did not open correctly in CS2.
As I recall, CS2 was able to open a flattened version of the file, just not fully layered with smart objects.
I actually had CS3 on my laptop, just not on the tower I wanted to work on, so I opened the files on the laptop, rasterized the smart objects, and saved. After this, CS2 opened the files with layers.

  • HELP!! When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges".

When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges".
Also, InDesign crashes when trying to open it.
    I am running OS X 10.6.8
The most recent task I did was a Mac OS snow leopard software update.
I created a new user account and both Photoshop and InDesign work perfectly when logged into that account, but the problem is persisting with my old account.
I tried, but didn't receive much help from Adobe.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I see. Well, if it works on a new account, then I guess that' good enough. You might still wanan try and fix your permissions on zthe otehr account, though. It may just require digging into the terminal and commandline operations to recursively apply this stuff to all folders and sub-folders...

  • Why do I keep getting a runtime error in Photoshop Elements 6.0?

I have had Photoshop Elements 6.0 for several years now with no issues at all.  Recently my computer crashed and I bought a new ASUS touchscreen laptop (Q301L model).  I have tried, with no luck, to get Photoshop to work. After a few actions, it will come up with a window that says "Could not complete your request because of a program error" and occasionally it will come up with a "Runtime Error!" notification that says "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information."
I have searched all the existing forums on this subject and none of the solutions presented have worked.  I have tried: re-installation (5 times now), running as an administrator, deleting the MediaDatabase.db3 file, renaming the MediaDatabase.db3 file to MediaDatabase.old and allowing to rebuild, repairing with the installation disk, troubleshooting and running in compatibility mode, holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift as Editor opens and then deleting preferences, allowing Photoshop through my firewall.  I am out of ideas and I really need this program to work.  Please help!

It might be a bug in the new version of Adobe Reader.  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;125749
Looking at my system, the path for AcroRd32.exe for Adobe Reader 9.1 is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe.  I don't know if you mistyped your path, but you do not have \Reader\ in it.  If you mouse over the file AcroRd32.exe, it should show you version 9.1.
Did you uninstall the previous version before installing the latest version?  That is the recommended way to do it.  I filled out my Federal Tax forms with Adobe Reader 9.1 without a problem.  This is on Windows XP SP3, fully updated.

  • Cannot Open Photoshop CS3

I recently got a new computer. We uninstalled CS3 on the old one, installed it on the new one. All systems were a go until earlier this week. I can no longer open Photoshop. It gives me 'Photoshop has stopped working' error message as it gets to the 'Building Twain Menus' portion as it opens. We have un-installed PSD, installed it again, nothing. We just un-installed the entire Creative Suite and still nothing. We've tried the graphics suggestion as we are running on Windows 7 and I actually got an error message after going through the driver update. Am I missing something? Is there anything else I should be/could be doing to get PSD to run again? I have used these forums before and I would like to ask that whom ever responds, gives me step-by-step instruction if possible. I'm tech savy, but need to have step-by-step instructions. I appreciate any information. My business depends on me using Photoshop.

I have looked in my programs/features folder in the Control Panel and I do not see a TWAIN listed there. Should I be looking somewhere else? I did a search using *.TWAIN and nothing has come up. Perplexed...The printer we have is not connected to my computer, my husband can't figure out how to get it to work on my laptop wireless yet.

  • Runtime error in Photoshop cs4

I have been using the Adobe Photoshop CS4 application for a while now...however...it has kind of broken on me now.
Everytime I run the application now, it gives me a runtime error.
    "Runtime Error!
    Program C:\Pro...
after instaling new updates  from adobe flash & reader i have uninstalled everything and re installed it all and i still get the error
    im runninhg windowns vista 64x

What caused the problem with the cs4 Photoshop?  i don't know. all i did was  install an update for abobe flash and reader and then i had a problem with Photoshop. i did uninstall Photoshop and then again reinstalled  it and still did not work.so i must say the answer you gave me was not only useless but wrong too. what are runtime errors  i don't know  & don't care  & the same with DLL's what i do care about is that the program that i have works properly
i do think the correct answer would have been try uninstalling   and then reinstalling the complete CS4web software and not just the Photoshop software.
Why because that did fix the runtime error  and everything works great.
Sorry, but this is a rather useless post. Runtime errors are just generic crashes, most of the time caused by some missing DLL or damaged/ bad driver. Unless you know exactly what you did and can provide more details from the crash report, this is going nowhere. Could be anything from a graphics driver problem to more genric issues...
    Thanks anyway

  • Runtime error on Photoshop

Hi, When I open Photoshop CS4 on Windows XP using a limited account, I see the error attached. Photoshop CS4 will work normally, however if I run as administrator.

My guessing is that the problem is with Photoshop trying to access files it needs to run that cannot be accessed when using the a limited windows account. Maybe try running photoshop in capability mode? Or reinstalling CS4? That’s really my only guess of this, is that Photoshop is trying to run a file that it can’t access, have you contacted tech support or customer service or anything like that? Maybe they can help. But why are you running it in a limited account when you have access to administration account? But yea that’s all I can guess would be the problem, I hope it helps.
