C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\npswf32_flashutil.exe error

I've installed the TVTrigger application (http://www.tvtrigger.com/) on Windows 7 64-bit. This application required Flash to work. I've also installed Flash 10.
However, when I start the application, I get an error that C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\npswf32_flashutil.exe is missing.
When I check, no such directory exists.
Can anyone tell me what Flash version/installer I need to use to that actually populates C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\?
Regards,
P.

Hi , The files you are speaking of are removed with the Adobe Uninstaller and then the Installer will install the needed
files into the Flash folder.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html  Download this Uninstaller and put it on your Desktop
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe This is the FF Installer, SAVE it to your Desktop
Since I don't know what add ons, extensions or plugins you have, Just disable them all for now.
Follow the instructions for the Uninstaller, close all browsers, check the system tray. No programs that use Flash should
be running.
Disconnect from the Internet
Disable any and all Anti-Virus/Spyware programs that run in realtime.
Disable any Firewall that you use, except Windows Firewall
Run the Uninstaller from your Desktop, then Reboot. Wait until fully Rebooted, then Reboot again
Run the Installer from your Desktop, then Reboot
Enable your Firewall and your Anti-Virus/Spyware programs
Connect back to the Internet
Go to this Adobe test site to confirm you have the FP vs 10.0.42.34 installed http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about
Go to your plugins and make sure you have SWF(Shockwave Flash) vs 10.0.42.34 there and it is Enabled
Enable Java-the latest is JRE 6 update 18.
Then check your Flash folder and post back with the files that are now installed.
Now if you have old versions of Java installed(check the Add/Remove) you would need to Remove them via Add/Remove
and install the latest Java. NOTE: You can do this prior to the Uninstall/Install process. Post back and I'll give you the Java install procedure.
Thanks

When i install Flash 10, there was a error message showing "Can't write: C:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10e.ocx". I chose to ignore, installation can be completed but i still can't view any Flash file. I tried every steps showing in  Adobe Flash Player Support Center to troubleshoot the issues, but i can't go any where. Will anyone know what's the problem and how i can install the Flash player on my laptop? I am using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer. Thanks heaps!

    Is your Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?
Can you try to download this installer http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe, save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer - do you get the same message?

p.s. I am the admin of the laptop.

I suggest you try the following
    download the FP uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html (save to disk);
    download the executable installer(s) from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html (save to disk);
    close all browser windows, then run the downloaded uninstaller;
    restart Windows;
using Windows Explorer go to C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    delete any remaining files in this folder;
    now run the downloaded installer(s).

  • C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10d.ocx

    Can someone please, please help???
I installed FP10 on Windows Vista & says it's complete (shows the "F" icon flipping around & all).  But, when I try to open C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10d.ocx in my "C Drive", I keep getting a pop up window "Error opening file for writing" in this file & wants me to abort.
I would appreciate the help very much on what I should do.  Pages on websites take forever to download.

This is an active x control. It is not meant to be opened.
Slow loads may have several causes. Assuming you have good bandwidth, most other causes are related to the add-ons you allow to run in your browser. Internet Explorer 7 and 8 both include a "no add-ons mode" which is useful. My suggestion would be to attempt running in "no add-ons mode" and notice whether or not the speed improves. If so, open IE as normal, click tools and then click manage add-ons. Disable Add-ons you don't recognize and don't need or use. I personally don't use search toolbars b/c I can easily type in bing.com and then search. This is usually faster than running a bunch of add-ons anyway. After disabling the add-ons you don't recognize/want/use, look for the column that depicts load time. Anything that takes a long time to load is slowing down your browser, disable it if you can live without it. Finally, any add-ons that you chose not to disable should be updated if available. Check the site that belongs to the vendor listed in the Publisher column of the toolbar for instructions on how to update their product. Many updates require or work better if you uninstall the old version of the product first.
If you still experience crashes and slow loading, you should consider resetting IE. After resetting IE, notice the change in speed. You can then start to install the add-ons you want, but if it slows down again, you should disable the culprit that you just installed.
This is just me personally, but I prefer to run with minimal add-ons. After resetting IE, all i re-install is the latest version of my Firewall/AV suite's browsre protection, which truthfully, isn't necessary, but I've not had problems with it.

  • Flash Player download fails to install at c:\WINDOWS\system32\macromed\flas

Up until a few months ago flashplayer worked perfectly fine!  Now, it seems like every site I go to asks me to download it.  Everything goes fine when I click on download and a box pops up to "install".  When I click on install, it starts install and stops every time on   "registering:  c:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10b.ocx"
At this point I get the error message that tells me to go to adobe support and I have followed all of their instructions including uninstalling, downloading some SubInAcl thingy and another zip file and all that, I've reset my security settings, etc. etc.  I've emailed microsoft and adobe and haven't gotten anywhere with that.  Tonight I tried what the lady did with pasting that file onto my desktop and that didn't help me.  I also tried going into IE via safe mode and that didn't help.
    Anyone else have a suggestion???
    thanks, Gina

  • Windows 8.1 issue explorer.exe error on shutdown NOT resolved and painfully slow bootup

    Hi,
I have a brand new HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows 8 64bit. I just downloaded the free update to 8.1. And then problems started.
First off, the boot up time has almost doubled. Just before the desktop becomes visible, there is a 10 second period where all you see is a black screen. At times this is more than 10 seconds. Then the desktop wallpaper can be seen.
Secondly, the most annoying problem-, everytime I shutdown or restart , I get an explorer.exe error saying memory cant be read some instruction referenced memory at 0x00000000. ?! What the h-- is this ? I mean is this what we expect to see after updating to
Windows 8.1 ? This is ridiculous. There is no offical response from the developers either. This is affecting many people all over the world and there is not even any official patch or announcement ?
I have read similar posts here and none of the solutions work. Someone says edit the registry, someone says remove the bluetooth service from startup ?! nothing and stopping a bluetooth service should not be considered a solution. Why should I not be able
to use bluetooth just to resolve this Windows 8.1 error ??
Please fix this problem urgently. And DO NOT ask us to re-install windows... I mean come on.. You think people have nothing better to do than installing/reinstalling Windows throughout the day ?? Bandwidth does not come cheap everywhere in the world either.
Please release a patch or some guidelines on fixing this problem ASAP.

Hi, I have checked with that link on HP's site and for my product number it said that my laptop has been tested-Update your System from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
HP has tested your Windows 8 PC with Windows 8.1 and has created update instructions.
This is what they say. And I clicked on the Windows Store Icon >> Then I clicked on the Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Tile >> Then I clicked Download Windows 8.1 Update ( over 3 GB ) waited for a couple of days >> Then clicked next a bunch of
times >> Selected some options that it asked me >> Then waited some more >> some more waiting >> and in 2 weeks I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 >> Then the above PROBLEMS started...
So, as a request to the tech team or dev team, pls fix this issue.

    Windows 7 32bit Firefox browser.
    The file and folder exists.
    I have administrator privileges.
I tried both the full and slim installer regular and as administrator.
I use Microsoft security essentials and windows firewall. I tried turning off both for installation.
I does not crash officially, in other words Windows doesn't tell me it's no longer responding. I basically sits and waits for something to happen.
Installed it on another machine and it's basically where it brings up the pop-up for Chrome. I'm not getting the pop-up.
What is the installer asking of windows at that point that it isn't getting?

Nevermind. While the installer does not finish, the plugin is installed in firefox and it works.

Unfortunately, without a lot more information that would be difficult to provide in a forum, your best path is to open a support case with Microsoft customer support services on this. There are simply far too many different potential variables here and

    thanks for any pointers.

Well, great.  I tried the uninstall/reinstall before, but not with the uninstaller, so I was hopeful that this time might do it.  No such luck.  The video still plays, but no sound.
All the sound settings are working with everything else from games to media players.  I set Windows' firewall to allow both the ActiveX and plugin for Flash, just in case.
In the Flash folder, I now have:
    Flash10l.ocx (10.1.102.64)
    Flash Util10l_ActiveX (10.1.102.64)
    FlashUtil10l_Plugin (10.1.102.64)
    Genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll (10.1.102.64)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.102.64)
And the setup and text files that went with 'em.
I've also done a system restart since then and zip.
I went through IE and Firefox and looked for any file associations (like .flv) that I could manually change over to using Flash, but no go.  The settings panels for Flash have all been set to allow YouTube specifically (as a test) and to allow 10KB of storage space for all affected sites.
Now what?  I'm really not looking forward to a reformat and reinstall, but it's looking like that's what it's going to take.

Subject: Flash Player 10 does not work in IE or Firefox. What could it conflict with?
Something is strange with your list of modules; you list FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.102.64), but this is really 10.1.85.3
I recommend that you uninstall Flash Player completely (using http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html), then restart Windows, and delete all remaining files in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash.
Next reinstall both ActiveX (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe) and the plugin (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe).
After that, if the problem persists, have a look at this page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83739.html

  • Flash 10.1 errors

    Hi
last week my htc desire updated to android 2.2 that includes adobe flash 10.1 all good i thought until i went to some of the sites i normally go to and found that when the flash player loads in the screen it is very jerky and the flash item i have loaded will not respond to touch input now this all worked fine on 2.1 that used a htc flash player.
It ain't all flash screens that don't work just very heavy flash screens with lots going on the worst for me is a facebook app called mafia wars that is now totally unplayable.
So just wondering is adobe aware of these problems and working on a fix.
    Thanks for any input.

Hi, well that sounds like quite an ordeal. Your Flash files are located in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash with a right click and post back all files listed there. It may be a good idea to just confirm that they are correct.
Then Using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Manage addons and Toolbars & Extensions and look for a box Show all add ons.
You should find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is enabled.
The Flash files and that ActiveX Control is Flash Player.
Now if you use another browser, you may want to post that version info as well. Also, what service pack do you have with XP?
    Thanks,
