C2-01 no indicators just a question mark

I just got the C2-01 phone this past Thursday , purchased in Israel, and I don't have any status indicators on the home screen, just a blue question mark in a white square with a blue border, located a little to the left of center at the top of the screen. Any ideas what I can do about that? I already checked in the display menu and turned indicators on, and I already restored the phone to factory settings while keeping my personal info. I have not yet updated the software - the phone is running v. 11.20, but PC suite is busy right now and won't let me update. Help!

  • Iphoto won't open just has question mark over icon

My iphoto won't open on my iMac spotlight doesn't akknowledge it.  Just a question mark covers the icon on my dock.  Any help to get it back would be great

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Macbook just flashes question mark.  Will not start.

Recently when using my macbook it froze. I was able to turn it off but then when turning it back on it made a clicking sound, which maybe I just didn't notice before but seemed too loud. Now it just flashes a question mark when I try to turn it on. It is less than 2 years old and it has been kept in good condition. Please advise if you know how to fix this problem. Thanks.

I just had to take apart my wife's iBook to fix her screen, and the tutorial spoke about the question mark being a common problem after the fix. This is basically due to the hard drive not actually being connected to the mother board. If the system restore does not work, I would make sure that the orange ribbon coming from the hard drive is properly connected to the board.

  • My Mac App Store has some images not showing... just a question mark.

My App Store is not rendering some images... both in the general store and inside actual app description pages...
Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
    I am on a new 2012 15" MB Pro.
    Here is a screenshot...

    Try restarting your Mac.
I can see all the images on v10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
If restarting doesn't help, try deleting the cache associated with the App Store.
    Quit the App Store.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
    Try the App Store.

  • Flashing question mark on powerbook G4 I screwed up! Tried to get into original state on Tiger 10.4.11 and wound up coming up with 9.2.2 for a short time and now just flashing question mark?

This was stupid of me.  I have tried everything to get back to the basic OS.  There is no worry about what is on the hard disk, because I wanted everything erased anyway.  My original disk has 9.2.2 and 10.3 on it.  I understand that the problem is that it was running on 10.4.11 great and then the system got confused when I installed the older system disk.  i have tried everything what the support community suggested to me on-line and hopefully someone can help me to get the system reset.
I have been to the Apple Genius bar, however they told me that the system was to old and they lack the tools.  this Powerbook does not have a firewire port and I guess this constitutes one of the problems.  I applied the original to two other Mac Books - newer vintages - and it worked OK.

You will have to resintall your OS. You will need your Tiger installer DVD to reinstall Tiger. If you have not already erased the drive (still have the old Tiger system on it:)
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
If you do not have your Tiger DVD then you will have to reinstall 10.3, but to do that you will have to erase the hard drive first.

  • Safari won't open. Firefox disappeared, only question mark. Mail doesn't have content. Time Machine won't turn on because sparse bundle is in use. Please help.

I had this issue about a month in a half ago and it was fixed by a local technician. I no longer have access to him and I really need some help. The issues are as follows:
    Safari will not open.
Firefox disappeared. No icon, just a question mark in it's place.
When I open mail it shows I have new messages but the content is blank.
Time Machine cannot turn on because sparse bundle is in use.
New files that were made are no longer available. It's almost as if the computer jumped back in time.
The Mac Mini is running Mavericks 10.9.5

I'll assume that you have some way of connecting to this website from the affected machine. If not, ask for other instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List

  • I have installed new hard drive to iMac intel 2007 model and all I get on the screen is a grey question mark, tried system disk and now that's stuck in drive and just spinning around, any help please

Sorry put all question on subject line. As I said fitted new hard drive, but all I get is a folder with a flashing grey question mark. Tried system disk but that is now just spinning around in DVD drive and I can't get it out. Any help with these problems would help

Sounds like the new drive is not being recognized. Could be it's a SATA3 drive with a 6Gb/s transfer rate and needs to be jumpered down to 3. But if the 2007 is 1.5, it may not work at all, even if jumpered down. Other possibility is a not properly secured cable or a cable that's come loose from the logic board.
What is the model of the 2007 Mac? What's the new drive? Did you do the installation or was it done by a shop?
You can find your model here. Look next to Standard Hard Drive:

You may have  moved or removed content on your page or  its possible you  used the"Adjust Image" and over sharpeed one or more images.
I assume  you mean it does not show up of new Chapter pages... have you checked the  template?
Where you see the  ?    you  need to either reduce teh  box outline size - or drop anther  copy of the original image onto  it, it may  fill the  ? box or sit on top.... delete the ? box.
If its Chapter page only related, its  better doing this in the template.
Is you image .jpg or .png?

  • My MacBook Pro won't start - it just displays a grey screen with flashing icon of a folder with a question mark in the middle. Help.

It started while I was using Adobe InDesign, and that program froze, then crashed. When I tried to reopen the program, the error message I received was simply "Error: 16".
I tried to take a screen shot of the error message for reference, and it gave me a message saying I couldn't because I didn't have access to the files where it would normally store the shot.
Attached to my computer at the time was my Seagate Free Agent Go-Flex for Mac backup drive.
So, I closed any open applications, and restarted my computer. But it wouldn't restart. It only displays a grey screen with a flashing icon in the middle of a folder with a question mark on it.
I have no idea what happened - I wasn't using the machine any differently than usual, and it only had a few basic applicaitons open in addition to InDesign (like Preview, Text Edit, Microsoft Word, iCal).
I have MacKeeper on my MacBook, and I keep it clean.
Does anyone out there know what this flashing icon indicates, and if there is anything I can try on my own to fix it?
    Thanks.

Seems a uninstall and reinstall of CS is in order.

May or may not be a contributing factor,  may have kicked in at a wrong time or running root code.

I have MacKeeper on my MacBook, and I keep it clean.
Well that explains it, MacKeeper is almost malware.
    http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
Search the forums here for "MacKeeper" they will tell the whole story, crapware.
Disconnect all drives, follow the "Grey Screen" instructions and hold Shift key down while booting, if you get into OS X , immediatly backup your files to another drive and disconnect.
In my opinion you should first check to make sure you have a backup of your data, then just erase the entire internal drive (hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, use Disk Utility), reinstall OS X, same user name, update to 10.6.8, c boot off the 10.6 and Repair Disk (to fix a update error) install your programs and finally return files from backup into the same main user folders like before (Music, Docs, Pictures etc.)
A pain it is, but you've hosed your system and in the process you might as well rebuild everything and have a fast machine again. So happens to clear MacKrapper, uninstall CS5 and any other junk in your system at the same time. Fresh, clean, lean and mean.
Learn to Carbon Copy Cloner to a external drive that new pristine boot drive, you can hold the option key and boot from it (even update it), which is a real bacon saver when something like this happens.  Also it's free to use, donations accepted.

Note: if anything above I've mentioned is too complicated or your not sure, seek the services of a local computer specialist.

  • I changed my hard drive and when i turn on my laptop i just get a question marked folder.

how do i fix this? how do i get my new harddrive to work with my computer so i can install the operating system? ive changed my harddrive from a 2009 macbook, and had no problems. it would load up and take me to a menu in which i would have to format the harddrive to work with the operating system and such. this time when i start up the computer with the new harddrive i just get the blue/grey screen and an opaque folder icon with a question mark on it. i assume that means it cant find the drive, but how do i fix this? ive checked to make sure that the sata connection is in poperly and that the harddrive is properly secured in its place.
    i have a 2nd gen macbook pro 15"
    thanks for the help

    heres what i did:
    i replaced the harddrive
turned my mac on - got the image
    turned it off
turned it back on and inserted the snow leopard disk - got the same image
turned it off and back on but kept getting the same image.
when i did it for my 2009 white macbook i did it with the snow leopard disk.
i also tried to eject the disk but it wouldnt eject it. im currently on vacation and am nowhere near a macstore, so i cannot go to a genius bar. im also not the most computer savvy guy, but i know how to get my way around. anything else i can tell you to provide you with information on what ive done so far?

  • Just installed new hard drive in mac book pro 15", when trying to boot OSX from original disk I still get a folder with a question mark in it. How can I reinstall the OS?

Can't seem to get my mac book to boot from the CD after installing new hard drive.
I keep holding down "c" while restarting the machine with the disk in but it just keeps ejecting the disk and giving me a folder with a question mark.

If your on 10.5 with a Intel Mac, I think Apple has jinxed the firmware so you can't boot from the 10.5 disk anymore.
So far several people, myself included, can't boot from a 10.5 OS X disk on a Intel Mac.
Your going to have to buy a 10.6.3 Snow Leopard retail disk, it's wayyy better than 10.5 anyway, faster and most stable even better than Lion. Have to buy iLife though as it doesn't come on the 10.6.3 retail disks, only free with grey disks.

Welcome to the forums here. You might also want to check out Mac Forums they're great too The credits are secondary, just want to be able to help if I can. I'm sorry the hardware test did not start for you. I know sometimes reading the forums and seeing other issues may cause one to worry, it worries me too, but if this is your first issue with your MB don't have any worries. I'm pretty sure your warranty will apply. If have any problems with that and can call a toll free number to the states 800-275-2273. Here's a link with Apple numbers.

My newest Mac just did the same "folder of death" dance. It's too late for you now, but you might consider a passport backup drive. You can get 2&3 T-bytes now fairly reasonably priced. A given with computers is they will crash, just a question of how bad and when, so you can be prepared for the next time.
