C2-03 as modem always on Sim1

Hi.
I have just purchased a new C2-03, installed two sims, and all works perfectly.
I have calls, sms and mms on Sim1, and data on Sim2. But this works only when I make a Gprs connection via the phone.
If I try to connect my laptop via bluetooth to use the phone as a dial up modem, it connects always on Sim1 although access points are available for both.
I could of course swap sims, but I want to keep the data sim in the hot swappable slot. Any idea or suggestions ?

Hi kaprabbu,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
Since you are using your mobile data to access the internet your operator may have restricted the use strictly to browsing. Operators may do this if they want to prevent people from using too much bandwidth and using the mobile connection as their primary access to the internet.
As the connection is working without any problems, it's likely that there is nothing wrong with your Nokia device. Your operator may have changed their policy recently and this why you have not had the problem before. So, we recommend that you contact your operator on this.
Hope this helps,
Puigchild

  • Modem always jumps from V.92 to V.34.  Is that normal?

I've had a G4 Mini almost a year. I can always connect at 52000 or 53333 with any of several dialup numbers. Sometimes I can maintain full speed for hours, and this computer has never dropped a connection after logging in.
The problem is that it has never dropped back 5-10% like other modems I've had. When it drops back, it drops back 39% to V.34. If I'm on a big download that can't be interrupted and resumed, I have to do it at the speeds they had before 56k.
Is it normal for a Mini to be so extreme in dropping back? If it is, I'd like to find out how to use one of my old external modems. If it's not normal, would it be a hardware or a software problem?

I've found in especially rural areas, that line noise
can increase with the duration of a 56k connection.
A good way to stop that line noise in the tracks is
to ask the phone company to run a line test on the
    line.
I don't think noise increases, but each time noise interferes with the data, the modems may reset to a slightly lower speed. Where noise is a problem, the speed may eventually drop so far that it pays to redial. Before I got my Mini, I'd never had a modem that dropped from 52 to 33 in one jump.
I live 400 yards from the telephone office. That proximity and my attention to the wiring in my home allow me consistently to connect at 52000 to 53333 with any of four numbers. To check for noise I can dial 1 and listen on a phone. Checking milliamps with a meter will tell me if I have any corrosion in connectors.
On my end, if a neighbor gets a phone call, crosstalk from the 100-volt ring signal can set my speed back. On the remote end, it can happen when there's a lot of traffic on the server. It's worse during prime time, especially during weeks when kids are out of school. It gets worse near the end of each hour. Then, at the top of the hour it improves. Apparently it's because a lot of people log off to see the beginning of their favorite TV show. Still, with modems I had in the past, I was still in good shape because if speed dropped, it would be only a few percent.
I've never seen the modem in my Mini drop just a few percent. When it drops, it goes all the way down to V.34. However, until a couple of weeks ago, it was pretty good at staying at V.92.
Things changed when I updated to 10.4.9. Now during periods of high traffic I may not be able to stay on V.92 more than 3 minutes. If I want to see a 1.75 MB pdf with V.92, it's 5 minutes, but it's 8 minutes with V.34. I downloaded the 10.4.9 update in 4 hours. It would take 7 hours now.
The 10.4.9 description says, "Internal Apple modem drivers now offer the same robustness as external Apple modem drivers." They're both Motorola soft modems, but Apple's USB modem has caused users a lot of trouble, presumably because USB is an added complication for having the CPU act as a modem. Apparently what Apple means by "robust" is to have the CPU act as a V.34 modem at the first hint of trouble, and now they've decided to do this to those of us with internal modems, too.
I regret updating. I bought the Mini with a V.92 modem, but now they've changed it to a V.34. Replacing the appropriate file in the System Library might cure the problem, but I don't know any way to get help from Apple to undo what they've done. The company seems like Marie Antoinette: "Let them eat cake."

  • Bluetooth problems all around - Modem in the first row.

    Hi there,
I've got a really annoying problem with the Bluetooth Setup of my Mac. Like you can see in my system description, I use Mac OS X 10.5.6. For a long time I used my old mobile via Bluetooth and GPRS as a Modem. Now it was time for a change. I bought a new mobile which supports 3G (Nokia 5800 Xpress Music).
I used the Bluetooth Wizard and told him to use all possible bluetooth functions of my device. I looked in the internet for the right configuration (APN, CID,...) and choosed to use the Nokia GPRS/3G Modem script which is preinstalled in Mac OS X (I also tried another one from www.taniwha.org.uk, it didn't work either).
The very strange thing is, the first connection worked without any problem, but after disconnecting and reconnecting it didn't work anymore. Instead I've got a message that the RFCOMM-Channel can't be opened.
I tried to fix the problem myself by searching wrong settings in some plists, but although I restored the original settings after recognizing that my changes didn't work, I've got a new problem.
Now the status symbol of the bluetooth modem always shows up that no modem configuration could be found, although I can still try to connect via Network -> Bluetooth. Of course it doesn't work this way too.
Sometimes the bluetooth modem works once after a reboot ( not after every reboot ). But only once!
File Transfer always works! The Nokia Multimedia Transfer also always works.
I definitely need advice of some of you, experts.
I'd love to hear from you!

    Hi,
sorry, but the problem isn't solved yet. I tried different things but nothing helped:
I backuped and deleted the following Files:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/Preferences.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
    /Users/benutzername/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.BluetoothHASH.plist
But it didn't help. In fact it made things worse. Therefore I restored the backuped files.
I deleted all bluetooth devices and installed just my new phone a bunch of times. - No change at all.
I used FSEventer to control the Filesystem Access. That leaded me only to the files mentioned above.
    In the log-file:
    /private/var/log/ppp.log
is the following error message logged:
Failed to open /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Modem: Resource busy
Up until now, I don't understand why this resource is busy.
I figured out, that the modem works using a USB-connection. That isn't a satisfying solution but it works for now.
Nevertheless I am still really interested in resolving the Bluetooth problem.

  • Is it possible my WES610N keeps crashing my modem (Sagemcom Connection Hub)?

I have a Cisco WES610N Entertainment bridge. I also have a Sagemcom F@st 2864 modem (connection hub) with Bell Canada. When connected at first, the modem works, along with the bridge connected to my wireless amplifier. However after 1 to 5 days, the modem always stops working. Bell replaced the modem 3 times and I’m on my 4th one in 2 weeks right now. This 4th one stopped working after one day as well. However, this time I decided to see if the bridge is the problem and disconnected it. I then rebooted the modem and it now works fine again.
Is there something I need to do in the configurations of both in order for them to work well together without my modem shutting down every day?
Please reply if you know anything about this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Alan,
I have this problem too.  I had the SageComm replaced once, then the problem happened again.  I have cascaded wireless routers and connected the LinkSys 610N to the other wireless router, and the Bell Modem goes down after a short while.
This worked fine for about a year and I suspect it has something to do with the latest SagemComm firmware upgrade.
Dont waste your time trying to fix this.  There is a dearth of information and I have wasted a week on this problem in small incremental chunks.
    No.  You are not crazy.

  • Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 3g manager doesn't have a options for "UMTS only" like other 3G modem

    Hi,
Problem: If you receive more signals 2G, 3G and 2G signal is stronger like 3G, then modem always use 2G signal for connection. But I don't like it. I want to use 3G signal, but I must all times manualy select 3G from list and this is very disturbing.
Is there maybe some solution for this problem?
    Brane

It might be the same GOBI model but different Vendor ID and Product ID. I've personally seen the VID/PID of the Ericsson and Huawei modems posted in the other thread so it's safe to say that they will work with the S10-3T. However, finding where to buy those exact modems can be a problem. I would guess it will only be available at the Lenovo site soon.

  • How can I access internet w/iPhone after installing new router

After I installed an Arris DG1670A router I have not been able to access the Internet over Wi Fi with iPhone (iOS8), iPad (iOS7) or Apple TV.
I have an Apple Time Capsule router that seems to be operating correctly. But only after having made many changes using the Network Diagnostics/Assistance feature. Those changes allowed my MacBook Pro (OS X) and my Mac G5 (OS X )
After the install of the Arris modem and resetting it to the original password my Epson Printer is working so I believe the problem is within the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV or the Apple Time Capsule.
I have upgraded IPhone to iOS8, tried restoring it and resetting it's Network settings a number of times without success.
What changes do I need to make and where do I have to make  in order to have all of my Apple devices to get on line?

Change of modem always requires a factory reset of the TC. Even if it is showing green it will still not work properly.. Too much is remembered from the previous setup.
So factory reset. No files are lost from the hard disk.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Run through the setup in airport utility again and use new names.. short with no spaces and pure alphanumeric. Not the names that Apple will recommend.
eg TCgenx as base station name. TCwifi as wireless name.
Use only WPA2 security with password of 10-20 character pure alphanumeric mix of upper and lower case and numbers.
Then you can scan for the new wireless name from the devices.. perhaps after deleting all the old wireless names beforehand.

  • Java 4.1.2_04 ceriosuly handing IE6 in WinXP SP-1

It's best if I repeat what I have sent to SunSolve and what I've placed in the plug-in feedback form.
I am at my wits-end. Over several days I have tried as much as I can without any success.
I may perform an in-place upgrade, but only after the release version SP2 becomes available and with a CD with SP2 slip-streamed onto it. Reinstalleding Windows XP from scratch is NOT an option. I use my computer for work and it would take me about two weeks to get it all installed and set-up to a usable state. Besides, what's not to say that after I finish a re-install the same problem comes back? Would would really be in a pi$$e! off mood as I would be right back to square one.
It's a bug that needs to be identified and fixed.
The problem is that when visiting certain web sites that use Java Applets, either the JRE hangs or the IE6 plug-in screws-up and hangs. Having the Sun JRE installed and not have Internet Explorer usie the plug-in seems fine. I can access the plug-in's control panel applet without problems.
If I act quickly I mighe be able to terminate the `IEXPLORE.EXE` process's GUI, but the process remains active just `headless`. By this time the Windows XP environment becomes very unstable. It is possible to shut-down Windows XP if I manage to load up SysInternal's `Process explorer` from the desktop, but all the processes shut down slowly and it can take up-to 10 to 25 minutes for Windows to shut-down.
Accessing the same site using Microsoft's VM works perfectly. This is the ONLY change I need to make to work-round the Sun Java plug-in problem and that is to use Microsoft's Java VM.
I have removed (and stripped out!) the Java RTE more times than I can rememember and have trued the subversions 01, 03 and the current 04 of v1.4.2 and the problem exists with all those sub-versions. I have been advises by a third-party that ZoneAlarm 5 basic may be the cause so I unloaded ZoneAlarm and the problem experienced is still there, so ZoneAlarm can't be to blame. In case it was to do with spy-ware and pop-up prevention programs that caused the problem, I also disabled those to conduct tests and the problem are still experienced, so it also can not be those programs.
Very often when using Sun Java plug-in when visiting `http://www.giga-byte.com/` the home page banner appears and Internet Explorer hangs. The other web page that will be hardcer fo you to replicate is on Easily (http://easiy.co.uk/) web site. When selecting any domain management functions like web-forwarding or e-mail options, the page begins to load and then halts. On Easily's web site the fault happens in the same place every time without fail. Again, with Microsoft's VM, not a problem.
I have encoutered this lock-up on other web sites I have visited, I just do not have the URL's to hand.
I have exhausted all the options I can follow and from my tests, everything posts firmly to how the Sun Java RTE and/or the Sun Java plug-in interacts with Windows XP.
Proxy servers, SpyWare detectors, Pop-up detectors and ZoneAlarm are not the problems as I have either de-activated or uninstalled them while conducting disgnostic tests and countless reboots.

My OS configuration is identical to your (save for the graphics card) and I do not experience these issues at all. I run pop-up blockers, firewalls, etc., etc., myself, and even mess around extensively with my browser settings (for debugging my own development), and have only EVER experienced an apparent lock-up under one condition:
If an applet is signed, and pops up and dialog, OR if there is any other condition under which the PLUGIN displays a dialog box, and during this time your browser is no longer in focus, when you reactive the browser window, the dialog box does not appear in the front. What I'm saying is that there might be an active MODAL DIALOG box, but which is not being seen. These dialog boxes do not appear on the taskbar under windows (just like the calendar doesn't) but you can active it by using the Alt+Tab function of Windows. When I've experienced support calls regarding this sort of problem, I get the user to check Alt+Tab to check if there is a hidden dialog box (which is most often the case, since we used signed applets).
I'm also a little confused by your reference to http://www.giga-byte.com - this site doesn't even load an applet when I open it.

  • Router as range extender????

I was told that I could use this router (EA4500) as a range extender for my Uverse service. To do this, do I need to set it up in bridge mode? I'm a novice at this & I'm not sure what I'm doing. Does the router have to remain plugged in to the modem in bridge mode? Thanks for the help!

You can set the router to bridge mode and use it as an access point only. But you cannot set it up as a range extender. It needs to be plugged into the modem always in order to get the internet connection since the modem will serve be your DHCP server. If you need to extend the signal in the network, why not get a range extender instead of a router?
If you still have the classic firmware for the EA4500, check the link below how to set it to bridge:

dnssd://Officejet%20Pro%208600%20%5B8C938C%5D._ipp._tcp.local. Which ends up looking like
dnssd://Officejet Pro 8600 5B8C938C]._ipp._tcp.local - I am guessing that this isn't being found... it talks about DNS Service discovery (dnnsd) - Whereabout is this "hiding" the information? Would it be caching it in the router? I have DNS's etc in router and printer set to the google DNS's (8.8.8.8) - should I revert this back to the router...)

This is what I did to fix my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a offline issue.
I have mine wireless - connected to AT&T U-verse cable modem - always went offline.
Odd thing was I could update the firmware and access the webpage no problem... so it had to be Windows...
You need to connect directly to the printer using "Standard TCP/IP Port"
NOTE: That means you have to first give your printer a static ip address...  that your router IS NOT using in it's DHCP range. - Please research how to assing a static ip address to a printer before proceeding here...
Right click on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 and select "Printer Properties"
Click on "Change Properties" button to make administrative changes to the printer
Go to the "Ports" tab and make sure your Printer "HP Officejet Pro 8600" is using the "Standard TCP/IP Port"
If it is already set to "Standard TCP/IP Port" select the Port and click on the "Configure Port..." button
Uncheck the SNMP Status Enabled and the printer should come online.

  • New imac 21, airport card anomalies...

    hello everybody
just to inform, as here apple ssupport  didn't ptopose such "simple`" solution  to a kind of network misconfiguration , bad access to web services, aso
    1) after a few s=days, a brand new imac 2.5 g intel core i5 was not connecting to te router correctly.
    2) when calling  apple support, describing the airport icon showing @no airport card connected@,(even if the system info[locations showed a card and even the  modem data on screen..) so  i had to pack tje machine and travel to such apple center downtown, Polanco, and here in Mexico it's a real pleasure to  ride some 2 hours in eavy traffic..
    3) arriving there, no airport card problem, and the technician described me a probable motherboard saturation or even overheating situation, i said ok, will go home and see if everything keeps working fine.
    4) a few days later, again, no access to web, automatic or personalized network or account adjustments seem fine.. but no way to receive or send mail, web pages crazyly slow, aso...
    5) when  24 hours later no way to  see nothing, even  the airport icon with stripes shows just clear empty grayish icon..
    6) calling again ther apple service center, again they  ask me to carry the stuff downtown, must be or could be probably a configuration problem, need to be checked there, aso, no way to look for or propose some solution just by calling them aso.
    7) calling ip service, we tried for more than an hour to check , trying all options, f.i. using ethernet cable (modem always good,  and machine working fine then) we examined all options, accounts configuration, the automatic was not accepting a connection, system showing "Airport connected but no ip address because not attributed, or missing", aso)
    8) and  when changing from automatic locatoon to the configuration  we had installed weeks before to help solve the connection problem , same result.
the directions of ip, router subnet mask aso were correct, changed eventually, no way, nothing was connecting.,  we tried quitiing such non automatic configuration to avoid possible conflicts, no results.
    9) after an hour or so, the technician from my IP offered to quit the airport configuration (even with a green bulb visible that  airport  config was not connecting, the desktop icon was  sometimes greyish, sometimes empty, aso...)  and add a new one.
    10) at the moment  it was created (as "airport 2") ... the automatic configuration looked instantly for another ip adress, and everything works fine now..
SOSO why doesn[t apple support technicians have suchj ideas ? why did  the airport icon even show a "not connected{ airport card message ?
I phoned  those apple guys around, explained them the solution offerde by phone by the IOP provider, no comment, answer or even a simpe "thanks" for  such suggestion , from them,  whan the received such info, Hopefully will eb useful  for others users, and eventually after a post here. tschuss
    Form Mexico city...

Looks like this issue has hit its fair share of people. Spoke to Apple support today about the same issue. Brand new iMac 27' 2.8 quad core with 8gb of ram and I opened the box only to find my airport card was not recognized by OSX. After performing several support steps, the staff let me know that this was indeed a hardware related issue - I am not advocating this is everyone'e issue just mine.
Here is what we did to troubleshoot and determine it was hardware related.
Open system profiler / go to network and look at airport - if all you see is "software versions" your hardware is not recognized. You will need to reboot the system and clear the SMC. To do this do the following:
Unplug everything from your iMac and wait 60 seconds with absolutely nothing connected to it. After that, plug in your power cable and press the power button down, letting it go after 2 seconds. Immediately after the power button is let go - hold down option + apple + p + r you will hear 2 "bong" sounds, then let go of the keys and boot. If your hardware does not show up you will need to boot to the OSX install DVD to get a "clean" install of OSX.
    Boot to OSX DVD
    Insert DVD
    Shut down system
Power on system - hold down C key until you hear a chime then let go. System will boot to OSX install.
Once you pass all the prompts by selecting defaults, you will come to "Install MAC OSX" asking you to select the disk where you want to install. DO NOT CLICK INSTALL. Open Utilities / System profiler. If you still do not see anything under Airport other than software, your Airport card is bad or at the very least not showing up in the OS. If you do see the airport card there, you will need to reinstall the OS to have it recognize the card.
    Hope that helps!

  • Failed upgrade to Airport Extreme N from Airport Extreme G

    Hi,
I hope that someone can help.
I have got a new AEn base (firmware 7.2.1). I seem unable to get an IP address using DHCP from the cable modem - always get a self-assigned IP address in the 10.0.1 range. My previous set up used a AirportExpress (54Mbps g) with the ip address being picked up in identical way. With the new model the following stay blank: IP Address, and Router Address. If I disconnect the old AEg, and use the same settings manually I still cannot connect. Reconnecting old BS reconnects immediately.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Often a cable modem needs to be blanked before you can associate a new device/router/base station with it.
    Power down the cable modem.
Wait 30 minutes (go and have a cup of tea or something).
Connect the cable modem to the WAN port of the Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS).
    Switch on the cable modem.
    Switch on the AEBS.
    Wait five minutes.
    Switch on the Mac.
Use the Airport Utility in the Utilities folder to configure the AEBS.

  • Airport Express: no internet

I switched my old wireless router out and put in a new Airport Express.
I have a cable modem which I connect to the Airport Express, I connect my Mac Pro to the router by Ethernet. None of my wireless devices, such as my laptop or the Apple TV to connect to the internet, but they both recognize the router and the network. I can get my iTunes collection on my Apple TV for example, but not the iTunes store or any streaming sites.
Likewise I can connect to the network with my laptop, but no interent.
    Anybody know what's going on?

Cable modems always need a complete, total reset whenever the device that they are connecting to changes.
(The old network saying goes.....change one thing on a network, and everything changes)
Did you do a complete modem reset?
That would involve powering down the modem by pulling the power plug from the back of the device or the wall AC jack, pulling the battery...if easily accessible.....and letting the modem rest for 15-20 minutes.  Longer is better.
Power off the AirPort Express and everything else as well
After the modem power down period, reinstall the battery...if it was removed before....., start up the modem only and let it run a good 4-5 minutes by itself.
Then, start the AirPort Express the same way
Then, start other devices about a minute apart
    Check the network
If still no luck, you will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Express and then start all over again.

  • HH5 trafic monitoring tool

I have unusual uploaded traffic size (1GB+ in 1hr!).
I want to watch this precisely to find out whats going on.. My old modems always had SNMP support so a free traffic monitoring tools can be used easily and with precision.
How would you monitor up/dn traffic on HH5 in real-time?
(It seems that the large upstream somehow related to watching Netflix on the smart TV, however I cant imagine why Netflix will use any of upstream traffic, could be a virus on the Android OS on the TV ? someone is mining bitcoins or using it as a peer in some hacker P2P network?)

    Hi All,
Is there any monitoring tool which is able to monitor various technologies .
we are integrating biztalk with SAP and we are looking for a tool which we can use to monitor both, is there any?
    Praj Dixit
If if want just to monitor various technologies, lets say BizTalk, then there are lot of tools available for this. BizTalk 360 and SCOM are two main tools.
similarly if you want to monitor SAP- like availbility of SAP services/URLS/Databases etc, then HP OpenView can be one option.
However, if you just want to make sure your business process ( integrated BizTalk/SAP..etc) are up and running then you could write some Automated Smoke test scripts, which will perform some basic testing and make sure all components are up and running.
    Hope this helps.
