C3-01 - Does Latest Software Improve WiFi Performa...
Hi all
According to the Nokia website, the current software for the C3-01 touch & type is v.7.51, but the most up to date version that I am able to install via Nokia Suite is v.7.15. I suspect this is because my phone is on the Orange/EE network in UK and they have stopped supporting updates for this handset.
I am struggling with a problem connecting to public WiFi networks and I am wondering if the latest v.7.51 software has any improvements to WiFi performance. Does anyone know if this is the case?
I appreciate this phone is a couple of years old but it is still working perfectly for my needs, except for the WiFi problem.

Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs. -
Does native compiling improve application performance ?

I've got familiar with Excelsior Native Compiler since a week ago. They claim on their website that compiling Java classes directly to native code (machine code) will improve the performance of the application. However, JAlbum (http://jalbum.net) says that its JAR files of the application run "basically at the same speed" compared to the native compiled one for windows.
Does really compiling Java classes to native code improve performance? I'm not talking about the startup speed, but the whole application performance.

Does the union improves the performance?

I would like to know does the union in sql or pl/sql optimizes the performance of the query? here we are retreiveing the data from a remote databse to see about 3700 hundred records it took on oracle 9i 40 seconds to get, where as when we added the union its retriving the data in 2 seconds does the union has anything to do with backend in pl/sql to optimize this query.

before added the union select statement it took 40 seconds after i added the union its taking 2 seconds.. so i want to know the difference between these two statements why so much difference in performance.

Thanks a lot.....Do an explain plan of the two queries. Chances are the optimizer decided to use a different plan for the main query when you unioned it with dual.

Problems Receiving Emails and some data on WIFI since latest software update.
My blackberry torch will not receive emails on wifi since the latest software update, I've tried numerous wifi networks and several handsets, even had them replaced and received a brand new. Still the same problem.
When turning off the wifi network on the torch, the phone will stall for 5-10min while it tries to communicate with the network (vodafone) to receive outstanding emails and data.
Can someone please inform Blackberry and get a quick fix on thisSounds like you have Do NOt Disturb turned on.

I downloaded latest software on iphone 4 and installed new software on my imac (snow leopard 8.6)and now phone not synching with new itunes. Itunes does recognize the phone but the itunes is totally different now. It doesn't look anything like the previous vesions. I can't even find a tab for synching. very strange. any help is appriciated.

I lost all my data while doing the latest software upgrade, how do I get it back if I dont have a backup on iTunes?
If you don't have a backup, then all your pics/text/notes are gone.
You can sync back music and app. If you were syncing your contacts with a program in itunes, then you'll get that back.
Not sure why you didn't do a backup, especially prior to doing an upgrade. -
Can someone please help. I have a really old MacBook that is running really slow. I want to wipe everything and reinstall the latest software but don't know how to do this. Also is there a way of keeping Microsoft Office when doing this? Thanks in advance
You do realise that wiping the disk means that everything on the disk is erased. Everything. Photos, music, emails, ...
So the first piece of advice is to make sure you have a back up of everything.
You need the OS disk to reintsall the operating system. You will use that disk first to erase the drive, then to reinstall the OS.

I have downloaded the latest software to my Apple TV, but I am unable to get the airplay icon to display on either my iPhone5 or iPad2. Both have iOS7 installed. The Apple TV connects to the wifi successfully. Any ideas please?
Can we assume you are bringing up the "Control Center" and the Airplay icon is not there?

Problem - I input a new event into my iPhone calendar and it does not update on my iMac or iPad calendars. I have loaded the latest software on all devices and have switched over to iCloud. Suggestions?
On the iMac open System Prerferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Calendars then reselect then restart the iMac.
On the iPad, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Calendars off then back on then reset the iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Hopefully the event synced over all the devices. -

Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store. The price is $19.99.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
